La Verveine is a hidden gem of Brussels. The restaurant is tucked away from just off the VUB campus, but what a treat it is. The menus are carefully crafted from start to finish, the starter, the main, the desert and of course the tea pairing for your meals. I highly recommend it to everybody looking for an exotic culinary adventure!

We went to the restaurant due to the nice ratings. But I must say we’re we’re very disappointed. The restaurant is outside of the city and looks more like an Imbiss from the outside. The inside looked cozy and nice nevertheless. We were sitting outside in the “backyard”, sadly the chairs and table was not high quality and completely out of plastic and unstable. The menu looked promising and we ordered different ones. Sadly the first course which we received was just strange. Also since we were not explained what exactly we got. Also very untypical it was completely sweet instead. Also the combinations were just not fitting. For the main course which I got I received a cold/bit warm gamba and sweet rice. This felt like frozen fish, pre cooked and then warmed up in a microwave. The rice almost was like milk rice and not fitting for the dish. The dessert which we got was freezing cold and surprisingly today at our hotel breakfast I found it again! It seems this is just a cake from the freezer which they decorated with some powder next to it. For reference I put the picture of the dessert in this review. The waitress was nice and the cook as well, sadly the food did not live up to this standard.

The service & staff was good but other than that nothing special. Trusting the high ranking I was expecting a better quality/price. 40€ degustation menu to put basic mezes-oven grilled salmon is not worth. I don’t recommend this place.

Excellent dinner, my husband and I celebrated there our 2nd month after our wedding. We chose this place because of the uniqueness: it’s Moroccan / French and they had great vegetarian menu! Food was amazing, service was outstanding and you will certainly enjoy their tea! We highly recommend it and will certainly go back there again next time we are in Brussels.

The food was good, tasty. But there were only set menus and you could only choose the main course, the starters, side dishes and desert were chosen by the chef... Service was ok, but there was only one waiter who looked after all the tables, however there weren't many people... Also, a bit pricy for what it offers.

Amazing North African fusion food!A place with 4 great menus (vegetarian, meat, fish and chicken) that include a starter, main, and dessertfor 35€. All the dishes are typical North African: tagines, bulgur, incredible spices, and great tea menu. It has a pretty terrace with cute lights. Food and service are perfect, and the chef is super friendly!

One of the most friendly staff I have ever encountered. Cozy place, delicious food. We had the vegetarian menu: an explosion of flavors. I would definitely recommend!

What a lovely place! We stumbled across it by accident and it is a true hidden gem! The food is beautiful and tastes amazing! We were really made to feel welcome and at home! A creative combination of Moroccan and French cuisine! We will definitely go back!

Do not go here! The owner is very nice, but the food and the place are rather unprofessional. Main course was ok, wine was fine. Entree was bad and dessert was not selfmade in the slightest - definitely out of the freezer. Neither does this have anything to do with Moroccan food nor with French food. In the end, it just was way too expensive (!!!) for the quality and we did actually feel a little bit scammed.

The best falafel of my life. Also the waiter was the kindest person. Absolutely great!!! A must.

We had a pleasant dinner experience, staff was extremely professional and generous with extra treats to complete the delicious menu. Dessert didn't seem self-made but entry and dish absolutely did. Overall do recommend for a romantic dinner experience.

Guided by the overall good marks and comments we decided to give it a go. The restaurant, although pretty empty, the few of us dining in, we were all placed near each other, which caused a bit of inconvenience for us, as our neighbors were pretty loud with their discussions and some children quite noisy. Food: was, in general, tasty, but below expectations compared to other restaurants we have visited which offer 3 courses menus in the same price range. In addition: a regular serving of mint tea we have found it overpriced for 10€. Service: was very good, the server checked on us several times, was quick in bringing food or removing empty plates. Atmosphere: nice place, nice music, overall good setup. We hated the heavy smoke coming from the kitchen area who attached to our clothes and hair... Besides that, it was very cold inside, our girls had a hard time staying warm and had to keep their coats on.

Disappointed! Table for four, two of us ordered the couscous of the day and the other two the menu (35€). Technically, the couscous would cost 15€ each. The couscous was served in the cardboard dish I show in the pictures. That recyclable pot was on top of the "real" plate. We thought that was a way to save time in case we decided to order takeaway. The waiter asked us if we also want to include a starter, and we said yes. The starter was a piece of peach and cheese with some rose sauce. It was ok, but nothing special. However, the couscous was not as expected. It was acid, and it did not taste good at all. It was served with an entire chicken breast in the middle. We got surprised when we asked for the bill. The waiter charged us 35€ each, including the ones who asked for the couscous... The final price, including drinks, was 46€. Overpriced for what it was. I would not recommend this place, even with the 4.6 stars (that I don't trust now).

Fantastic food at a bargain price. Best deal in Brussels

I strongly recommend this restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and professional. The eggplant&onion caviar and the lamb were perfect and very tasty. We even saw the chef a few minutes at the end. For sure next time I am coming to Ixelles to see my daughter I will go again. 😉

Overall pretty decent Moroccan dinner but sadly without a grand finale.
