We parked car, got our ticket (2,50€), and then began to head up the stairs. Once we reached the top after a short walk, I instantly spotted the main building and wow, it’s impressive. To the right are toilets, which were surprisingly clean, and a bit further ahead was the option to get some drinks and ice-cream. To the left is the Walhalla itself, and you can either take the stairs or head up the ramp to reach the inside. You can walk along the arcade, and head around the building to reach the front. There you can either enjoy the scenery and fantastic view, or head down the stairs to enjoy a different perspective. I walked down all of the stairs, and then decided to take the ‘forest’ walk back up. And gosh, that really wasn’t the best decision I ever made. Only take this walk if you are prepared for a steed walk up. If you want to, you can then head inside, which costs 4,50€ for a standard adult ticket. Currently only 35 people are allowed inside, and due to that I was able to take photo with not a lot of people walking around. I don’t know what numbers are usually allowed in, but if you want to enjoy it without masses of people, head there now or during the week. The hall had been built in the style of Greek temples, and inside you can find busts of “great men and women” important to German history. I personally found the older ones really interesting look-wise, but the more modern ones rather lacking in comparison. Inside you will also find a statue of Ludwig I. who was the one responsible for this building. You have to wear a mask inside, and on the outside you need to be a bit careful as most visitors didn’t really pay attention to keeping distance or wearing their masks where they should have. Overall the Walhalla is really worth a visit, especially if you like to take photos and enjoy the Greek architecture.

Very impressive building that's usually quite busy on the weekends. Great view down the hill and on to the river. Opening hours of the interior vary by season.

……What an incredible experience to come and witness this picturesque site which the Neoclassical Temple is built on the top of the hill overlooking the Danube River flowing through the valley below! When you arrive at the parking area which has ample parking spaces for many vehicles there is a Parking Meter Machine where you pay first and display your voucher in the cars windscreen before making your ascent via more than a hundred long steps to the top! It’s so beautiful as the pathway is lined by very tall trees 🌲 displaying its autumn 🍂 colorful leaves 🍁 and the grass is lashes and green. When you arrive at the top in the distance you see what you are about to encounter the “PARTHENON” a massive Neoclassical temple. There are benches for you rest and catch your breath after the steep climb. The surroundings are impressive-lii beautiful with the well maintained landscapes surrounding the Temple. It’s really huge with many large marble pillars meters high. When you eventual-lii arrive at the front door and entrance you are overwhelmed by the beauty of the Danube river flowing below and the picturesque valley. It cost €4.50 per adult to gain entry to this Parthenon-like memorial to noted Germans! There are 130 bust the likes of Mozart, Einstein, Beethoven etc, etc. It’s really a fascinating experience to behold….a must visit when in this area near Regensburg! NB! There are very clean and user-friend-lii toilets …

This neoclassical building in the form of a temple is located above the Danube river near Regensburg. During the summer months ( April to October) it’s open from 9 am till 6 pm but November till March it’s only open 10 am till 4 pm. During the summer months getting a parking can be bit challenging, parking cost 2,50 euros. It’s a beautiful structure and views are breathtaking and romantic. The place is super popular with young people and can be very crowded in the afternoons.

Impressive, outstanding building. A few minutes by car from Regensburg away. Two parking places only a few minutes by feet away. Or you ride with a bike along the Donau. Perfect for a nice trip. Wonderful point of view.

Impressive place with a lot of history, well kept. It has a small parking lot that we managed to park in summer. Cost of 2.5€ for parking a car (didn't return my 50 cents of change) and 4€ per person to enter the building. Amazing views.

It's quite a spectacular site, the views while you approach are magnificent. There is a cost to park and when you get to the top, if you want to look inside there is also a cost. I would just peek in inside as it is only that one room and not really worth the cost of going in. But I highly recommend coming having a picnic and taking in the great views of the Danube!!

A relaxing boat ride on the Danube from Regensburg towards Markt Donaustauf gets you within an hour and fifteen minutes to the ships stop for the Walhalla. From there, you walk up to the Monument on a hill via 358 steps. Once there, you will see statues, busts, and plaques of famous German people. There is a cafe to sit and relax if you want, or you can walk around the Monument, taking in the beauty of the surrounding landscape as well as the Danube River.

Excellent place. Lots of stairs so be prepared. Can also be reached by road but the reaching by boat is one of a kind experience. Good place for hike as well.

What an amazing coincidence during my visit at Walhalla. I was able to hear a local musical group play the Bavarian anthem and another beautiful song in and out of the building. It definitely greatly added to my experience. The instruments were greatly pronounced due to the amazing acoustics inside and out of the building, bringing to life the historical/famous personal sculptures portrayed inside the building and the beautiful views from outside, leading down the stairs to the river and to the right to Regensburger in the distance. Also, it was only about 2 euros for parking and 4 for entrance. The walk up to the building was only about 5 minutes.

Situated on the banks of the river with a great elevation which offers a wonderful view around. There are boat ferries from Regensburg to this place. Public transportation to this spot is limited to bill. By car, reachable easily and there is a parking. A tall temple building resembling the Greek structure.

It’s wonderful historical place to visit. If you are in good health, park down somewhere in the village and walk all the way up to Walhalla, it’s a beautiful hike. For those who have trouble walking up can park close to the building. Parking is €2.50 for 2 hours.

Splendid view over the Danube river. Located slightly outside of Regensburg, easily reachable by bus and a short walk, this is a must see old temple. The beauty of the building is mesmerizing. A bit different from ancient buildings and architecure that you see in Germany. If the weather is clear you can easily spend an hour enjoying the views.

If you are in the area around Regensburg, Germany, I would highly recommend a stop at Walhalla! Compared to the rest of the region, it is not as old, but incredibly majestic and it provides a fantastic view of the Danube river and, in the distance, a view of the city. I would encourage a visit near dusk, where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset (maybe with a picnic basket). For the best views, get there early as there can be a crowd on evenings with good weather.

The name itself was enough to add this place to my itinerary and it was the best decision. Totally worth a visit even if its a little away from Regensburg. It is located about an hour away from Regensburg in the town of Donaustauf and a short hike from the nearest bustop, the view from here makes it worth a visit. Overlooking the picturesque Danube river, watching the sunset here is a memory that will last forever

We visited on a Sunday evening and we couldn't go inside as it was closed. You get a beautiful view of the river and the city from the top. We parked our vehicle at the bottom and then did a very short hike to the top, but you can also get to the top in a cycle or a car.

This was a really impressive monument. There was some English interpretation, which was a nice addition for tourists. The parking was adorable and close to the monument. The cost of entry to the interior was very reasonable, and you could enjoy a lot of the surroundings at no cost. It is also accessible via bus from Regensburg.

Lovely location with an interesting history. Beautiful views all around. I would say worth the climb of the 350 or so steps.

Awesome 🙌 it was 31 December, so the temple was closed. But the view was perfect. By public transport it’s a bit hard to get there but it does worth it.

Monumental thing. It's huge. View is amazing. It's a really great place to enjoy the summer day. You can sit here with some food and friends and have a nice time.

This is an exact size of Parthenon in Greece with a roof on it. It is an amazing site and work the trip to this location. It is something that I expected more tourists at but grateful this wasn't the case for all the amazing photos I was able to capture

Beautiful building and architecture. It appears older than it is. The views are stunning. In case you are not very mobile, there are a few steps to navigate to get up so plan for a bit of extra time. We didn’t go inside as it was near closing time so I can’t comment on whether that is worth the entry fee.

Perfect place for a walk or picnic. I'm glad that I got a babysitter for this one because my kids are a little wild, and there are a lot of steep drop-offs. There are also signs that say no soccer balls and the location would be impossible to take a stroller. On that note, wheelchairs would probably be difficult here too as I observed no ramps in the area and only stairs up the big hill. Parking is ample and cheap. The views are fabulous. You get great sun in this area in the afternoon if it's clear. There are also walking paths around d the site and benchs to rest or watch the birds. There are some expensive souvenirs for sale inside and the cashier takes both cash and card. The entrance fee for two was €9 and I think parking was like €2. Overall, I would recommend it.

Well worth the roughly 400 steps to the top. The views are beautiful. You could spend the morning up there deep in thought or enjoying a picnic with family or friends.

Walhalla provides an extraordinary experience! The temple's awe-inspiring architecture left me speechless, adorned with intricate carvings and majestic columns. Upon entering, I discovered a remarkable collection of busts and plaques commemorating Germany's influential figures throughout history. The panoramic view of the Danube River from the temple was truly breathtaking, complemented by meticulously maintained gardens. For those with a passion for history, culture, and impressive architectural wonders, Walhalla is an absolute must-visit destination. The ticket price was €4.5 and car parking was around €2. And also accessible by public transportation. wholeheartedly give it a five-star rating!

Astonishing view and the building. Worth coming even to see the view from the top of the peak. Inside the building you'll find up to 200 sculptures of the greatest Germans. Gives a bit scary vibe knowing the history of 20th century.

Wonderful place with a panoramic view of the whole area. It is a bit steep to climb up, but totally worth it. It is perfect for a sunny summer day, just make sure to wear the right kind of shoes. There are bathrooms nearby, but they are only open as long as the place itself is open, so make sure to empty your bladder before coming here after closing hours.

This is a spectacular must-see location. We opted for the boat tour from Regensburg to Walhalla and back. The boat tour includes German and English commentary about local sights and history. It's a fairly strenuous walk up the stairs to Walhalla, but I think it's manageable for many if you take breaks (lots of trees to rest under).

This place is a must visit. Looked amazing. It has a lot of steps. If you don't want to climb the steps, you can take a small hike on the backside, to this place.

Beautiful place!! 8 min walk from the closest bus stop. If you want to see the sunset bring a blanket and enjoy the view ;)

  • 5/5 Roja r. 1 year ago on Google
It's located in the outside of Regensburg. It takes a 10 -15 mins hike to reach there. The monument is similar to Panthéon in Paris. You will get a nice view of Danube River and city. I would suggest to go in the evening, the sunset is amazing.

  • 5/5 Markéta K. 2 years ago on Google
We were totally inspired by the greatness of the monument. The building is the successfull copy of Pantheon palace in Athens. There is beautiful view from the top and it is wonderful chilling spot for picnic. You will hardly find even more romantic place than this. Visit, see and enjoy ! 🤩
