Very interesting spot. I never knew about the Texas City Explosion in the 40s. The highlight of this place has to be the train hobby room on the second floor. Very cool to see the amazing setups.

The trains re amazing to view a watch on the tracks. The people there were very informative and obviously loved their hobbies.

Lots of historical items from Galveston, including items from the ship explosion which destroyed the harbor, Saturdays only see huge display of miniature trains, kids will love that

What a great museum. As museums, this one is laid out very nice and takes you through the cities history. It is a story that affected a lot of how things work today. But the real gem is the floor dedicated to railroad miniatures. I have paid a lot more to see a lot less. The best miniature trains I've seen.

It's a small museum but well worth a visit, I recently got to go with my partner, nephews, and brother-in-law and we enjoyed ourselves very much and learned some interesting facts about texas City along the way! I do recommend going on a Saturday if you want to check out the model train displays though because we went on a Wednesday and didn't realize until we got there that that portion is only open on Saturdays but we still had a blast and are already planning our next visit!

The volunteer who led us through the museum (I believe her name was Ruth) was knowledgeable and kind. She made everyone feel welcome and shared many facts with the kids and adults. Our group also enjoyed the model train setup and the men who ran it. They seemed genuinely happy to share their models with the children. Unfortunately, the two ladies working the front desk spoke rather harshly to several people in our group, which was unpleasant and made a few of the children uncomfortable. The overall experience was good, but aside from the volunteers, the staff wasn't very welcoming. I'm sure they are used to large school groups being loud and maybe unruly, but our homeschool group was small, well-behaved, and undeserving of the sharp tone and pushiness we received.

The Texas City Museum seems a small museum, but it is a place where both emotions and intellect are challenged. A few of the special exhibits in the museum are: 1947 Texas City Disaster films, photographs and artifacts; City Founding: Texas City from beginning to present; Dahlgren Cannon from the U.S.S. Westfield and First Aero Squadron.Just like museum owner stated The Texas City Museum is the center of history, culture, and heritage for the people of Texas City.

Very disappointed. I went to see their Quilt Display. From what I can see there was only about 10 quilts displayed. Told the host that my niece let me know about the Quilt display at the museum. Then she told me if my niece was with me that I could have got in for free. What is the point? Anyways, I could go into a Quilt store that has more on display than what they did. I didn't travel all this way to get out in the rain to get treated rudely. Not paying 7.00 to look at something that should be for free or simply should have a donation jar available. I won't be back.
