Haleshwar temple is one of the oldest temples of tezpur which is located on the NH15 about 12Km from East of Tezpur. This temple is the oldest temple built by the king who established the capital of Kamrupa at Harupeswar. This temple of Haleswsar is a praying point for various communities. According to Mythology, a linga was found by a cultivator while he was ploughing in the fields. A temple was constructed initially on it and later Ahom king Rudra Singha constructed the temple in 1705 A.D. Temple complex has been well maintained and renovated by local authorities and there is a priest engaged in day to day rituals.

This is Haleswar temple we have visited in the occasion of Shivratri festival .You got only peace here because this is the place of lord Shiva ❣️ It's a amalgamation of temple and namghar. Idol worshipping as well as non-idol worshipping place. The complex consists of Ganesh, Shiva, Hanuman, Vishwakarma and Shani temple and a big namghar. There's a big pond with an impressive Shiva statue in the middle of the pond, accessable via a small bridge. At least 7 puja-samagri stalls inside the complex. Prasad distribution after 12.30 everyday. Good place to worship and spend time. Haleshwar temple is one of the oldest temples of tezpur which is located about 10kms north of Tezpur. According to Mythology, a 'linga' was found by a cultivator while he was ploughing in the fields. Cultivator is also known as 'Halowa' vernacularly so the term Haleswar is derived from the word Halowa. The speciality of this temple is that it is a worship place for both Vaishavites and Shivaites.

It's just outside of Tezpur city. Seems to be less crowded than Mahabhairab temple. Nice arrangements of parking inside and outside the mandir Located by the side of main road so it is very easy travel there.

Haleswar Temple is one of the oldest Shiva temple built by the Mlecha King of Kamrupa. It is believed that the term ‘Haleswar’ came from the word ‘halowa’ (someone who ploughs the land hence a farmer) because a farmer had found the Linga while ploughing the field. The temple was later reconstructed by Ahom King Rudra Singha in 1705 AD. #AwesomeAssam #HaleswarDevalaya #HaleswarTemple #Temple #ExploreAssam #TravelAssam #WelcomeToAssam
