Doesn’t exist no more due to Covid but it’s definitely worth going on a tour through the delta BUT: if you book a tour make it more than clear that you don’t travel around the world for souvenir shops and that you want to see the river and channels, nothing more. In the Cai Be zone, we got showed candy manufactures and other stuff what basically serves to navigate you through products. They insist for tips even though you didn’t ask nor booked for a souvenir shop tour. The river, channels and the local market where the floating market used to be are worth a visit.

The truth is that the floating market isn’t back to its pre Covid days but still beautiful and majestic especially if you manage to catch the sunrise.

Cai Be Floating Market is situated in the area where the Tien River meets the 3 provinces, Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre. From Ho Chi Minh City, it will take you roughly 2 hours to travel by car to the wharf, followed by a one-hour boat ride. There are quite a few things you should keep in mind before visiting Cai Be Floating Market: - The boat rides will be somewhat rough and shaky, especially the traditional ones. Make sure you’re not a seasick type. - Put on enough sunscreens and insect repellant. Dress properly with light clothes, as it might get a bit cold early in the morning, and then very hot after 9 am. Bring along a hat. - Double check the price and stopping points before you hop on any boat. Don’t forget to take photos of a huge Catholic cathedral on the riverside, which will look best on photos taken from afar.

Our day tour activity at Mekong Delta which takes about 2 hours drive from Ho Chi Minh City, we boarded a motor boat 🚤cruised along the Mekong River and the vast network of canals to enjoy the wonderful view and Cai Be Floating Market. Unfortunately, most of the business was closed due to the rain, we couldn't get any tropical fruits 🍌🍉🍍there, this is the reason I have to plan a return trip.....✌🏻Enjoyed a break for coconut water, fresh fruitsssss (jackfruit and dragon fruit😋)of Delta with Vietnamese traditional music performance🎶 in the fruit garden. Here landed an Island for the cottage industry: coconut factory🍬, honey🍯tea garden, rice paper workshop, pop rice workshop, handicraft workshop. Riverside lunch including rice paper roll🌯, a special 🐠elephant fish, chicken, vegetables soup .... yummy yum yum!!! Cycling around the village to end this fantastic tour🚲. 🚩 Group size: 9ppl with tour guide + driver Pick up: 7:30-8am@my hotel Drop off: 5:30-6pm@my hotel

The floating market is a magnificent wholesale market where local retailers, shops and restaurant will buy larger quantities of fruit and vegetables. It can only be visited by boat. Look at each ship's mast to see what product is being sold. PS The location on the map is (now) correct

Less popular than it used to be. Still interesting in seeing how local people trade. This way of life is disappearing. Another place in time. Can imagine 100s traders now only a few still follow the tradition.

(Translated by Google) Cai Be floating market is located at the junction of the river adjacent to Tien river, around the 1980s, road traffic was very limited, the area of Cai Be floating market was extremely crowded. All the agricultural products and fruits in the surrounding areas often gather here to trade very busy and crowded, usually each big boat will only sell one type of agricultural product and hang on top. pole to let everyone know. Today with a well-developed road transport network, the floating market is no longer crowded as it used to be, but nonetheless is still a representative floating market representative of the vast delta of the West.

I would suggest going early early. We went around noon. As you can see we were able to rent a whole boat for just the two of us and rent it cheaply. But most the boats were closed down For nap time.

Just a few boats on the river. The best market is on the ground, just walk the streets instead.

Nothing much special to see if you are from Asia. The floating market is merely boats selling food stuff and fruits to tourists. The journey is too far from HCM city and not worth the time. Spent at least two hours plus on road to reach Mekong river.

(Translated by Google) Formerly mentioning the Western waters, surely visitors will think of the "floating market", the typical culture of the Mekong Delta. Which Cai Be floating market is one of the three largest wholesale markets in the Southwest region, along with Cai Rang floating market, Nga Bay floating market. So the market is always crowded with bustling, crowded boats on the river. The Southwest floating market in general and Cai Be in particular have been formed since the footsteps of Vietnamese immigrants coming to explore this land from the 17th to the 18th centuries. Cai Be floating market is located in Cai Be town, Cai Be district, Tien Giang province, located in the section of Tien Giang river bordering between three provinces of Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Ben Tre. The common feature of the floating markets is "what pole, vegetables - fruits", that is, on boats selling fruits, agricultural products are hung on the pole for buyers to identify, and not to offer. It is a very interesting and distinctive guide in the trading method of the peasant people in the river area. With a variety of goods, Cai Be floating market is famous for specialized fruits such as green grapefruit, Lo Ren breast milk, Cai Be tangerine, ... and has the most fruit in Tien Giang, where other provinces Come here to buy goods like Vinh Long, Ho Chi Minh City, Ca Mau ... In recent years, along with changes in life, Cai Be floating market has gradually reduced its role as a transit station for agricultural products from the West to Ho Chi Minh City, instead of a new direction associated with tourism development. There is no longer a scene from the early morning market, or like other floating markets in the Southwest region, Cai Be floating market now only begins to operate when the sun has risen, most bustling is from almost noon to the end. pm. Fruits and many agricultural products, specialty cakes of Tien Giang and neighboring provinces are sold on boats, boats anchored by the river ...

So relaxed and untouristy. Drift along the river and don't get ripped off. Cheap and great fruit. Hop on the fruit boat and try and fresh coconut!

(Translated by Google) On a Vietnam trip you should definitely look at such a market. There are surely tours for tourists, but it is actually only for those who live there. The people live there on the boats. The boys are now moving away from there and moving to the city because life is more convenient there. I found it very interesting.

(Translated by Google) The floating market has shrunk to a few boats over the past few years, but streetmarket is very interesting. It is best to avoid tourist boats and hire a local captain on the shore to take you in a traditional wooden boat on canals.

The floating market no longer exists, having moved onto land with the advent of roads............... if you do a floating market tour you will go to a land based market. That is ok, but it’s not a floating market as you would have expected. The rest of the tour covering land based handicrafts etc was quite nice.

The floating market is getting smaller and smaller as tendency, but even more important to know: The real floating market is between 4-7am according to our tour guide. As we were there around 9-10am, only a few ships were left. Those were the bigger ships that are sales boat and home of the owners. So if you want to see it, you probably need to be there very early.

Nothing to see really. Just few boats, nothing is happening. It is enought to see it from the bridge, taking a boat tour around is basically waste of time. I went there 7am

  • 2/5 Mister T. 4 years ago on Google
Floating market tours don't seem to be worth it: we started at 6:00 from Vinh Long, then unexplicably had to go on a row boat ride through a canal (I still haven't figured out what could possibly be the point of 30 min delay) when you know that the main activity of such markets is around sunrise... We arrived at the now non-existant market too late, just a handful of boats which did not interact with each other, nothing worth seeing. Next was a sales show for chocolate, honey and miracle medicine. Candy factory, orchard, end of floating market tour with no floating market.
