I am one of those people that travels with a disinfectant bottle to kill germs and it takes me ages to leave a bathroom or toilet as I normally wash my hands, on average three times if I happen to accidentally touch something, the wall, the taps, or reflush the toilet or touch the door without a tissue prior to leaving. I say this, because after reading the reviews and having stayed at the Hotel Imperial, those negative reviews couldn't be further from the truth. I booked a queen suite, with ensuite. Wow! It was immaculately clean. It had been renovated and refurbished. The bathroom and shower/toilet was extremely clean too. I thought I was the best cleaner in the world! The linen and bedding looked to be brand new. I only used my disinfectant bottle for spraying the toilet seat before and after each use! The Hotel Imperial has new management and they are still doing renovations and refurbishments in stages. The manager, DJ and his family, friends and employees were very hospitable, accommodating, and always anticipated our needs and nothing was too much for them. My room was located upstairs and was very warm including the hallway. It was also quiet and my sleep went uninterrupted. There is a bar, with pool table and small area for dancing and private poker machine room (not that I touch the poker machines, as germ and gambling phobic). The drinks and hot food are affordable too. There are also outdoor spaces for hanging out. No other hotel/motel can beat its central location and convenience to shopping, restaurants and other local amenities. I scoured the internet for accommodation in Thames, and no other place can beat their rates either. I have written a lengthy report here as previous negative reviews are not warranted. And given the the cleanliness, excellent service, central location, and knowing that Thames markets is on the same street on the Saturday morning, it really should be a no-brainer for those who don't like wasting money. Forgot to say, family friendly place, as they treat you like family.

What a wonderful stay on a rainy night at a beautiful old hotel in Thames. It was just what I expected..a fabulous old hotel, rooms were clean, staff were helpful and to top it all off, food and drinks in the bar made it ever so handy and we didn't have to out in the rain. The meals were big and the patrons and staff were friendly and fun.... Thank you Imperial Hotel. I rated it a 4 as it is an old hotel with some quirky little things about it which made it even more fun..- we had a great night

I really enjoyed the stay. Our room (with a queen size bed) was well presented, fresh and clean. This was the same for our friends room and although they needed to share the toilet and showers, they also were clean and well kept. We decided to take our son at the last minute and although they were going to provide just a mattress, they provided a bed instead which was more than we expected. Our bed was very comfortable with our friends saying the same for there's. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted by the manager (DJ) whom was informative and welcoming. I got the sense that it is very much a family business whom take pride with making people feel welcomed. It's very central and surrounded by lot of cafes and shops that are just a short stroll. I also found the price to be more than reasonable. Would I stay again? We are already planning our next trip for a longer stay where we can explore more of what Thames has to offer with the Hotel Imperial being part of that experience.

Absolutely despicable management Would not recommend dealing with this motel. Cheap for a reason. Pitiful being such a fabulous location. Genuinely disappointed at how they manage the place.

Thank-you for a very nice welcome and the room was great. Clean and fresh, tea and coffee, nice fluffy towels and the owners very helpful. A really comfortable Queen bed as well.

Horrible service, food was awful. Fish more like frozen fish fingers, steak wasn't cooked; had to send back. Tourists clearly not welcome! Don't waste your money! If there was a minus 1, that's what I would rate it!

Unfortunately not great! The manager did not know we had booked on line five hours before. Most of the facilities were clean except for a filthy out of order toilet which remained uncleaned for the 18 hours we were there. There were missing lightbulbs etc. It was a pubic holiday, so I imagine things were a bit unusual. There was also no printed information for guests. I was thirsty but there was no glass to be had anywhere let alone anything to drink in our room. I can't blame them however for the strange guest who had her door open and the radio up loud all night and called out to every toilet-bound guest. The hotel was cheap though. It was potentially fine, but needed more careful monitoring.

This hotel is an ideal hotel. If we are living in the 19th century. Had a negative impression straight away when we entered because of the caretaker or who ever he was. He was rude and provocative in the way he talked to us. The rooms were a bit cramped and the walls were thin, could hear people walking around in the hallway. Floor creaked creepily everytime I took a step in the hallway. But the biggest let down is that caretaker and the way he talked to us, either replace that guy or teach him some hospitality skills, he was mud
