Had a CT scan coming up, knowing I did not do well with a previous one, I rang and spoke to Daniel, one of the radiologists and explained my fears. She suggest I come in and she will show me the scanner and talk me through the procedure. I did this today and all I can say is how very wonderful and kindly the staff handled me. Very understanding and very professionally. Feeling unwell, they said they would to it for me straight away. Daniel making sure I was fine through it all. Thank you all a million times over, it is so appreciated by your patients. Kindest regards to you all.

Over 6 hours waiting in pain and vision going blurry to get a splinter out of my eye ball and still didn't see a doctor. Was advised by saint John's and an on-call nurse to urgently go to the hospital. The doctor spent more time chatting to the nurse than actually seeing anyone. There were only 3 other patients waiting in the waiting room but it was over we spent over 6 hours waiting. The nurses were friendly but couldn't say how long it would take to see a doctor. Finally left at 4am after the doctor was extremely rude to us (he actually said he was f@#king busy)when we were taking to a nurse. Drive anywhere else it will be quicker. I don't know why Thames Hospital exists.

would be a five if I had the doctor and nurses I had in the morning, I was greeted by a lovely receptionist lady & nurse whom took lovely care of me but once I was admitted the lovely nurse was still on but I got another two different ones and they were horrible and the doctor was even worse I felt like they just wanted me to go home because my tests came back clear yet I was experiencing a lot of pain. I even over heard them talking about me and it wasnโ€™t very nice long story short they didnโ€™t want to deal with me.. roll over to the morning I got lovely nurses and a nice doctor who was on to it and made it much better experience. It was upsetting because we had just been talking about how amazing the care was and then I got treated the way I had been. My mum was just discharged after spending two weeks in there and she had a good experience we even said it was better than Waikato but after they way I was treated by two nurses and a doctor I was left just wanting to leave to go home so I wouldnโ€™t have to deal with them. I am someone who has a fear of hospitals and would never place myself in one if I donโ€™t have to but I was advised by health-line to go in. So thank you to the lovely nurses I did get and to the doctor that was on to it and the receptionist that I did get because I know how hard your job is and being short staffed.

Took my grandson who needed to get grommets to Thames Hospital. Reception staff member was pleasant and very helpful as on arrival I had to drop grandson and his dad off at main entrance so I could then find a park. I was given directions where I to go and was with my family before they took my grandson in for his ear operation. Was also greeted by nursing staff and a then joined by a gental spoken male surgeon. I was given permission to accompany my grandson in theater until he was sound asleep. Very thankful for the kind gesture and the courtesy shown towards myself during that time. Soon after we were rejoined by my grandson. The hospital staff were so friendly it was a great first time experience at Thames Hospital. Thank you all. The only frustrating part was trying to find a park in the hospital parking area and around the perimeter of the hospital. Apart from that everything else was great.

Travelled to Thames hospital from South Waikato for day surgery to remove my gallbladder. From the moment we arrived at 7am to the time we left around 3pm, the treatment I received from the student nurse right up to the surgeon herself, without exception, was exemplary. My surgery went to plan and my recovery has been better than I could have expected, which I can only credit to the care and professionalism of the entire team charged with my care whilst in the hospital. So a great big thank you to everyone for helping make me feel so comfortable and at ease on the day

I'm still waiting,bn told I may have to wait 6 to 8 hours due to there only being one doctor in emergency. I've bn here 3 hours already. I'm sure I've put a hole in my forehead, so to me it's urgent. I shall keep waiting. And drink my tea. Hey I'm back lol, I was at Thames Hospital for 7 and a half hours. No hole in my forehead but a Hematoma , I give a huge thanks to Rachel who went out of her way to get records of the surgery I've had to my face. We are now in Dec still having issues but I've got a great medical team who are helping. Thanks to Emergency at Thames Hospital with a low staff. Hard to get parking but be patient.

I had an eye-opening and quite frankly upsetting experience at Thames Hospital recently. I was referred there with stomach pain (hernia related) and the nurse quite bluntly said "it's a hernia, there's nothing we can do about it here but the doctor will have a look, there will be a 2 hour wait" Long story short, I left after eight hours at 7pm after being updated the wait time as midnight-2pm.They said to come back during the week, Saturdays are busy and there's only one doctor on. I didn't really want to do the 45-mins either way back again so I went to another local doctor for a 2nd opinion and found that there was an infection! But what upset me wasn't the time I wasted. It was being in the same waiting room as 2 people with head injuries (one a baby, one a man with blood in his throat who just wanted his x-rays), a young woman who had fractured her arm and been kicked in the face at Rugby, a man who was having trouble breathing, a woman with agonising kidney stones. Most of these people left after 5-6 hours and were in horrible distress. There was a woman sleeping on chairs for about 4 hours - why not get her a bed!! or a stretcher!! she was clearly very ill. The only good experience was the receptionist who left around 6pm Sat night - I can't recall her name but she was very kind and lovely to deal with.

Unfortunately had to come here this morning. I've never been to this hospital before (I'm from Rotorua) but I was very impressed with the level of care and the facilities. I really didn't know what to expect being that its a smaller hospital. But my visit was fabulous (well... as fabulous as a trip to ED can be) from the moment I walked in the door. A volunteer in ED (her name began with M - sorry I can't remember!!) was an absolute pleasure to deal with and was very caring. She also makes a great cup of tea!! I am very grateful for her support. It was fairly quiet (from what I could tell) when I arrived and so I didnt need to wait very long. But it fairly frantic in the waiting room when I left. Thank you everyone for your care!

Great service. The nurses and docs were kind and friendly. They were also very thorough and careful. Most importantly though, they were all very skilled and experienced in their roles. As a result, I felt like I was in a safe set of hands. Other points: - Quick to getting onto operating once youโ€™ve arrived. - Good sandwiches. - Lots of free parking on street (unsure their prices). - As a day stay, I got my own room.

Visited the eye clinic. Well organized and supervised entrance with all the Covid protocols in place. The staff assisting and directing us patients were amazing - friendly, polite, clear and helpful. As always, the service and care at the eye clinic was top notch. So grateful for this facility and the people who provide the care for us.

Took nurses 4 needle attempts to get my partners blood withdrawn /tested which they could've gotten from his wrist to make it easier. He had a high fever the previous day and bleeding internally for weeks which is ongoing but they didn't seem to concerned about that since they found he was covid positive on the day...that seems to be all hospitals are worried about these days and not continuing health conditions. Never contacted us regarding tests after saying they would which has been two weeks since they were done and the tests were also mis labelled, saying that they were fine when they were not ( mislabelling). Could be very serious/deadly regarding the bad handling of tests and contacting issues after multiple calls. Should have just went to Auckland hospital. Very disappointed.

It's a hospital. No one really wants to be there but if you have to be you'll find the treatment is of an excellent standard and the staff are usually friendly and helpful. Sure the wait times can be terrible but it's the same all over the country at the moment. Thames hospital do a great job with the resources they have. Always grateful for their help when we've needed it.
