Unfortunately not impressed with the service at this place. Had a very nice meal there and the food was excellent and very good value for money, however... They gave short measures on drinks and refused to top them up. The beer was about 1cm from the top of the glass (i didnt take a photo unfortunely). Also I ordered a pint of coke (20oz) and they served a 16 oz glass 3cm from the top (see photo). I asked them to top the drinks up and the bar staff said it was policy not to!!!!! They refused to get the manager too!!! I pointed out that short measures is illegal and they would not budge. I have reported this to trading standards and I urge everyone else to do the same and report these criminals.

Good meal. Excellent value for money. Menu had plenty of choice. Staff helpful. Would recommend for family meal out or dinner with friends.

We went on a Saturday so took advantage of the 'full monty' offer at £9.50. This was excellent value even at full price as the dish included chips, peas,onion rings,grilled pineapple ring, fried egg, gammon, beef steak, 2 chicken fillets and 2 sausages. Only one of our party managed to eat it all as there was so much. Luckily a box was supplied for our leftovers.

Order on the app, waitress brings food over and walks off...we then notice half the things that the menu said we get weren't on the plate, discuss it and they tell us they don't have most of it available..then why not tell us when we ordered, or when you took it to the table instead of filling the plate with very cold chips to make up for it. Very reluctant to fix the issue stating there is signs saying they don't have it which was a lie, the only signs said no halloumi or cod. Nothing to do with scampi, chicken strips texan sauce and whatever else they didn't have.. but they finally agreed to cook more to make up for it and came back with 1 piece of each chicken of which only 2 bits looked apetising and edible... I 100% will never go here again, first and last time trying this place, it's not often I email companies but this one deserved a complaint email. Waitresses were very rude, blunt and abrupt, shouting to friends across the pub, I tend to go out regularly for food trying different establishments and it's been a long time since I've had service this bad. I left feeling hungry and disappointed. Edit: as I'm unable to reply to a reply, I did email on the 16th regarding this issue and 7 days on there hasn't been a response so I won't hold my breath

Good service although they do a pudding which has sweet potatoe fries in it with ice cream cheese cake and strawberries. Although I tried it, it's just not good.

Wow what a feed , very cheap compared to other places. Plenty on the menu . Loads of seating plenty of parking. Sky TV, free Wi-Fi. Family friendly.

Had a lovely time at the Hooden - kids had fun in the play area. Really reasonable price wise. Super friendly staff, in particular Paige. Extremely professional, and served with a smile. Would definitely return.

A great bustling place to eat with a decent selection of drinks, and a wide, varied menu too. Prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are good too. Would recommend.

2 fantastic meals. 2 mains for £12: Mexican bean salad with chicken breast and a steak and ale pie with chips and gravy. Could not be improved - served in good time, excellent portion sizes and tasted great. Credit to the staff and kitchen - was not expecting it so good x

Had a lovely few hours there with family on Wednesday Curry night.. I had steak and jacket which apart from being on a border line heat front was quite enjoyable.. When asked and I mentioned it they offered to redo the dinner, said it was okay but was offered a free desert after to compensate. We weren't rushed and ended up there for over 2.5hrs.. The others enjoyed their curries.. Apparently the nachos aren't crunchy so avoid if you don't want them soft.. Staff were lovely.. All in all I'll go back 😀

Went with family. We ordered two curry's, a chicken stacker and a steak and ale pie. The only food that was hot was the steak pie, the rest was barely warm. We mentioned it to a staff member who said she would inform the kitchen staff. Not up to usual standard.

Food was OK for the price, as took advantage of the free pudding offer. Had the chicken new yorker, and apple and berry crumble. After finishing the main course had to wait approx 30 mins for the pudding and this is after informing the staff twice.

Went in for breakfast, it is the first time I have ever been served a reasonable portion of baked beans, not half a plate of watery ones you normally get. Also whole button mushrooms instead of the frozen sliced ones. Really lovely breakfast and amazing service.

The menu is diverse and generally very tasty. The staff are polite and helpful but often require prompting as they are deep in conversation. The children's play are is a welcome addition. It's a shame the table side TVs never seem to be on.

Great place to go for a good meal at a good price. Staff always friendly and helpful. I have been many times with family and friends, but recently came along with some residents from our care home for a trip out for lunch. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, the fish and chips were a firm favourite! Will definitely be back for another trip out.

This is our local and we go most of the days. Recently management change and we feel more welcome. Service is always excellent and food is very good, drinks are so good value. Jordan is very professional and nothing is too much for him. Overall this is place to go. Highly recommend . Also bring your dog they are extremely welcome

Come here every now and then as it's close to home. Food is generally good and what you'd expect from a hungry horse. There is quite a high turnaround of staff here, and they are pretty short-handed at the moment, so they have temporary reduced food serving times. They allow dogs here in the pub area, which is really good as we bring our Bella down from time to time.

We’ve had a few “different experiences” here but we go back as it’s convenient but On the last few occasions Tom who I believe works the bar has been more than accommodating offering an exceptional service. He is certainly a credit to this venue. He is always friendly and nothing seems too much trouble.

We went this afternoon for a cheap and cheerful lunch, just 2 adults 1 child. We were warned that we'd have a semi long wait for the food, which is fine as we were in no rush. It all went wrong when ordering our food. My son was due to have veggie sticks as a starter, then a main with veggie sticks, chicken nuggets baked beans and rice with a strawberry yazoo milkshake. They had no veggie sticks, no beans and no strawberry milkshakes. I amended the order and didn't think too much into it. Then ordered for my mum, but the one thing she wanted (jacket potato) was also sold out. Literally 80% of what we wanted wasn't in. So we went elsewhere There were murmurs of being short staffed in the kitchen and to me it looked understaffed at the bar and restaurant. The staff there deserve more, the chap we spoke to (Tom?) was polite, professional and apologetic. It seems like others in the queue had also amended orders due to basic 'staple' food not being available. I don't expect much from Hungry Horse, but please back up your staff better. I understand food sells out, but at 1pm on a Wednesday during the school holidays, surely you can do better?

Spent Easter Sunday here as a family and had a fantastic afternoon. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The roast dinners were of great quality and the beef was cooked perfectly. The pub has an outside area which kept the children entertained and a nice seating area outside. Despite our large group of 10 the food was served promptly with no issues! The pub also offer some delicious draught ciders including mango, pineapple + peach which were all lovely! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will be back.

I came here for the quiz night with friends, the atmosphere was really good - we all had a great time. It was busy but staff were clearly working hard and our food came out in good time with no issues. Pleasantly surprised as our other place was shut for the night so this was a last minute decision, would come back again!

Our daughter took us there for my wife's birthday meal. I found the steak and chicken lacking in taste, however the burger was nice. Cheap and cheerful though. You get what you pay for.

Nice place, i enjoyed my evening and facilities were clean, chose this place as a goto for a works do did not want something too fancy or too expensive thought it was ok, reasonable for prices. Had the cheeseburger burger with bacon, was ok and filling,( i swerved the big burger with chicken as to me that just seemed a bit strange!? ether a wimpy olympic burger, or mixed grill in a bun in style i guess, not sure what they are trying to do there 😆? most the lads ordered it tho and they did enjoy it) but not a patch on a bacon XL from the B king, felt like just normal buns toasted instead of the brioche would have been much better👍. The chicken strips with the texan bbq was top notch! Very good flavour in the sauce, surprised me, put the left over sauce in the burger 👍👍👍. It reminded me of that Mop BBQ sauce that asda used to sell that, unfortunately disappeared of the planet, shame. Was a bit disappointed with the starter i had as it said had mayo dip, but it did not come with it when it arrived at table. I asked my server for my dip and was handed a bottle of mayo instead from nearby table, just pure laziness i thought and not a great attitude, not sure it it was meant to have a different mayo sauce with it (garlic mushrooms ?) Desert was good had the cheese cake, quite sickly tho after a big burger. Ordered food through the app took like 1 min to set up 👍👍. Unfortunately later on a mistake was made buy someone else in the pub ordering to our table by mistake and two drinks were delivered that none of us ordered and later on a portion of food, unfortunately the young female waiter took a sour opinion with us for the rest of the eve, as if the group was mucking about on the app, (we did notice the big sigh btw, and not our fault!) we returned the drinks to the bar for her as we expected they were for a different table. Beer wise the pub ran out of at least two bottles of different brands that our group was drinking guess they had a heavy afternoon before us or perhaps bad stocktaking, it was a sat night? at least 2 other options were also unavailable 😑🤷‍♂️ Overall had a good evening and we all would comeback, missing out on a four star due to staff who just seemed to not want to be there.

Visited twice in the last few weeks to make the most of the free kids breakfast offer for the summer holidays. Although some areas of the restaurant are tired and run down, and need repairing such as torn seats, the service is good, staff are friendly and food was served promptly. The breakfast sundae is delicious, and huge! The free kids breakfast consisted of a small fry up which wasn’t greasy at all and very tasty with great quality sausages. Nice little play area out the back, and very conveniently located. Will return.

Popped in here for a bite to eat because Toby carvery was closed for a refurb. We had a pie, mash & peas. No meat in the pie but the pastry was nice. Cheap & cheerful. Some good deals if you study the menu. Large breakfast is a challenge?????
