Must stay with moderate budget. Worth each penny paid. The heritage looks tidiness of the place. Food they offer everything was good. Staffs are warm and welcoming. The breakfast is complimentary and mineral water at room too. Worth each penny. Safe to stay at this covid time. Thank food is little pricey yet you have good options like A2B nearby. Thing to be mentioned that they provide complimentary snacks and fruits (fixed) which is awesome too

We stayed here for three days. Rooms were good but service is not at all 5 star. Service is very bad. Inspite of calling ahead for etc bedding, they said there will be 5000 charge of extra bedding. This was not communicated when I called:( Room service - u have to call multiple times and will arrive two hours later just for water. Hotel - food is decent but service is bad. U have to call folks to take order, food will be served but you have to ask for plate and water. For the price of the hotel, definitely expected much better service:( pool is good but you can’t swim without goggles as the water is high is chlorine. Eyes burn without goggles.

Stayed for 2 nights with Australian Group as a part of Luxury Escapes South Indian Tour. It was a shear disappointment. Food was absolutely shocking, Indian food was served in Western style , it was cold and lacking any kind of flavours. At least 3 to 4 of our fellow travellers had upset tummies including myself. Guests were served water and later on got charged almost 300 rupees for each bottle. Rooms were tiny and bathrooms were dirty and had mould in the shower walls. Towels had stains and were smelly. I would rate this property as a 2 star basic hotel.

The rooms are beautiful and stylish. The food and service is below par. Location isn't great. We didn't find this place to be value for money. We waited at the restaurant for 1.5 hours to be served. There were people at other tables who got up and left from frustration. The breakfast spread is really basic. Overall, I think this hotel has promise but has a long way to go.

Best & finest accommodation option in the region. Pool, Restaurant & Bar is well maintained. Heritage block suites are most recommended rooms to opt for. Favourable Parking space with satisfactory amenities for drivers. Massive hall with wooden stage is just perfect for family get together or any modest celebrations.

Svatma is a stylish boutique hotel within a residence. Green in every which way (even waste disposal), it has an ambience of understated luxury with a homely feeling. Can stay here a full month and not feel one is out of home. Food excellent, staff too and manager runs a tight ship. Everyone is attentive without being intrusive. Squeaky clean and great value for money. Hotel for the soul, not just body. Aesthetics are high class and management too.

Stayed here for 2 nights in January 2022. A wonderful combination of traditional architecture with all the modern facilities. Rooms are tastefully designed, so is in the entire property. Lot of green and open spaces. Extremely courteous and helpful staff.

We stayed here for just one night before visiting the Tanjore temple in the morning, and it was a great value for the quality. The room was very quiet, clean, and comfortable. The location feels a little off-the-beaten-path and you would likely need to drive/taxi to nearby restaurants if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Prices at the hotel restaurant were a little high but I realize we were paying for convenience. Definitely recommend! I wish we had more time to actually utilize the cute pool.

Overall a great experience. The heritage property with luxury is great, clean, nice service, vegetarian food is awesome (non-vegetarian may find that as a limitation), spa is simply great experience. If one goes for package that will include host of things and value for money. Good, to choose 3 nights stay. Location did not matter for me but it is close by from many good places of visit.

The hotel is located in a suburbian area. The hotel it’s self looks very nice. The rooms are ok, the lamps will fall down the wall with the slightest touch. Be aware that the TV will start playing an advertisement every time you enter the room and start the power. You will have manually turn off the TV every time you enter. The restaurant is to be avoided at all costs! Not only is it rather pale and mediocre at max (every street vendor seasons with better taste) it is horribly expensive for what it is. They charge 800rps for a beer. A bottle of water costs 227 rps! Breakfast for non residents will cost almost 1000rps! And it’s nothing special. Normal Indian breakfast. Had better in all other hotels. Definitely avoid the continental cuisine approach. They serve sandwiches topped with nothing more than industrial melted cheese and cucumbers. It tastes like it sounds. Concerning the overall experience, the hotel looks nice. The Wifi is not good and you won’t have a connection near the pool. You will certainly be rewarded with better food and service in other accommodations (manager won’t really answer questions about the food and will only read out what is written in the menu. His English is good). Traded for a less fancy entrance. The hotel itself looks very fancy. They offer yoga from 6-7. But that is rather early for most people including myself. I would have loved to go but that’s unrealistic. Earlier than most people will start their workday. Overall, unfortunately, especially because of the looks of the entrance and pool, never coming again.

we had a great experience while staying at Svatma. The property is very well maintained and has a fantastic old time charm. The rooms were very clean and comfortable as well. The swimming pool and the garden had a very calm and positive vibe and it was a pleasure to stroll. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place.

The resort is beautiful and serene with so much old world charm. You could sit just about anywhere in the resort especially by the pool and forget all your worries. The staff are so kind and helpful. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and charming. Would love to know where they get their pillows from. Food is great too. If you have the opportunity to stay there, don't pass it up.

Overpriced and underwhelming, please avoid. Other than the tasteful decor and pretty pieces of furniture, the hotel has nothing going for it. The rooms are tiny, cramped and overpriced. The bathrooms are awful. The bedding had stains, the covers of the plush pillows had stains too. They don’t even have a closed dustbin in the bathroom. No hand-wash soap dispensers either. The lighting in the room is terrible. Cannot fathom how and why they charge so much for each room. I’ve stayed at budget hotels with better rooms and service. The staff doesn’t give a damn about you. No one engages with you, and even when we checked out, no one asked how our stay was. Food was very very average.

We stayed here as part of a tour, the welcome was lovely, however, that was the best part of our stay. Charged for water at dinner, although the rest of our group got their's free! No fridge in the room!! So warm water all night. Came to shower next morning, shower broken!! Went to check out and told we had not paid for the water the previous evening and not believed until we proved that we had on our bank account. Never, ever again would we stay here!

I would vouch for the spa provided by this hotel. The male therapist was brilliant in giving me a relaxing spa. My entire body felt rejuvenated and the herbal tea after the spa took away all my anxiety and pain.

Pros: the property is very nice. The rooms are well-equipped and clean. And the spa is good. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Cons: the food is mediocre at best and the service is SLOW! The food at the restaurant and room service both took ages. They struggled to cater to dietary needs. We stayed here over news year eve. The hotel had organized "special entertainment," which was especially bad. The programming was ill-suited to the audience. The DJ kept playing extremely loud music despite many patrons directly requesting for the volume to be reduced.

A friendly and helpful staff made this a good place to stay for 3nights. The meals were very good - the restaurant is fully vegetarian so no eggs - some of the other guests had not appreciated this. Be sure to check with your waiter what is/is not available on the menus. My wife loved the massage! 😊

I recently visited Svatma with my girl gang. We wanted to spend some quality time together while being pampered and rejuvenated. Oh boy we felt like queens. The management ensured our every need was taken care of. The Welcome, the Food, the Spa and the Stay, everything was beyond our expectation. Special thanks to the manager for organizing a tour with a lovely guide who showed us around explaining Tamil history and temple architecture.

A hidden gem in the heart of Thanjavur. Beautiful aesthetics, delicious food, very courteous staff and close proximity to the Big Temple makes this place a must visit and must stay. The spa boasting of one of the few sound spa rooms in the country truly lives up to what is promised. This is one place that I would recommend to friends and family and revisit for sure !

Beautiful resort! The staff are warm and attentive. The rooms are beautiful and clean. But one star is removed because the gym is below standards. Not usable because of faulty airconditioning. The common toilet facilities were also very dirty on the morning of check-out and requires more attention/frequent cleaning.

We stayed two nights at Svatma 21st - 23rd December '22 . It was a family trip and we had two rooms in the Heritage wing. It was truly wonderful experience ! The rooms are beautifully appointed. . The entire decor has an old world traditional charm evoking the best in Tamilnadu craft. The service was excellent .Right from the welcome ritual to check out . The staff at the Front office, dIning room and housekeeping were pleasant and unobtrusive. Food was good.- a limited menu but tastefully prepared. A great choice for a quiet calm getaway !

Rarest of it's kind. Every bit has been meticulously decorated. Typical for an ancient and historic town like Tanjore. Even that water dispenser in the common wash room was a rare piece. The staff are polite with welcoming smile always. The library, I could not use but shall in the next visit. That telephone seen in the picture below was another antique.

This has been one of the best holidays we have had as a family in the recent times ! A certain calm descended on me the minute I set foot into the hotel ! The rooms, the service and the food !! Will definitely be back. Sound Spa therapy at Svatma,a unique and serene experience. Felt totally rejuvenated!

I came to Svatma on recommendations from friends and colleagues but unfortunately the service doesn’t match the tasteful and ethnic decor delight the place has to offer. I am surprised that the hotel has been given 5 stars everywhere while it actually matches a 2 or a 3. Because of the following 1. I had called the hotel a day prior to my check in, however they still made me wait outside with my cranky toddler and senior parents despite mentioning I would be there right at the stipulated check in time 2. Their dining service is terrible, there is hardly any variety in their breakfast buffet. They also run out of stock of the raw material if we want to order a particular dish. Most of the staff seem clueless about what’s happening or whatever we ask of them 3. Things are missing in the rooms. Torn hand towels, missing towels, room slippers, fridge, side table, dustbin. The list is endless 😂 4. They don’t fumigate their premises. My toddler was full of mosquito bite marks the next day. They left the windows open before handing over to us. 5. In room dining is not available, for a hotel which is listed as 5 star seems bizarre. Room service is terribly slow. Looks like they have staff shortage. 6. Gym and yoga room is in dingy buildings and in tatters. The pool looks good, but that’s it. 7. The promo video on the TV is forced down the guests, you can’t even change the channel till you see their complete sales pitch ( which only shows a bunch of foreigners enjoying these so called services). It’s really not the service staffs fault. The training of the staff is poor and the management is at fault. You can’t just set up an art boutique hotel to poor service. What do we do stare at all the paintings and decor around when customer service is poor. I am amazed at the good reviews given here. Either travellers don’t have standards meeting basic requirements or they are just taken in by all the optics which make them think this hotel deserves 5 stars. I would say, if I wanted to book a 2-3 star hotel, Svatma would meet my expectations.

I had the honour to visit and enjoy the Svatma Experience along with my Marketing Team last week. Beautiful aesthetics, delicious vegetarian food, spacious and charming rooms and a special mention about their swimming pool, though small it has a different vibe altogether. We enjoyed our time around the pool area. The Breakfast spread was really good. We came back with a lot of creative energy and calmness. A great Team Staycation done right 👍

Visited this place with my family. Wanted to take my old parents to a place where they would feel relaxed and at home. They loved that this place gave them the feel of ancient tamilnadu surrounded by temples, architecture and history. We opted for the 'tour with an expert' and our guide took us to visit ancient monuments & temples and patiently explained all the aspects about Tamil history and temple architecture. We thoroughly enjoyed the vegetarian food served at the restaurant and the kitchen staff were kind enough to accommodate special requests like less salt and spices. Highly recommend this place. You should definitely bring your parents and kids here so that they can experience the old world charm in all its glory.

Had a couples massage here to end our Tamil Nadu travels with some luxury and it was one of the best experiences ever. Noma did my massage and she was absolutely FANTASTIC. I'd highly recommend visiting for the spa and also the restaurant! We would definitely consider staying here if we visited Thanjavur again.
