We
initially
planned
to
do
Sri
Lanka
via
motorcycle.
But
after
we
came
across
stellar
Tuk
Tuk
Rental
reviews
online,
and
researched
their
contributions
back
into
the
local
community,
we
were
sold.
We
completed
2150
km
over
a
21-day
rental
that
took
us
the
entire
length
of
the
country
and
back.
The
Tuk
Tuk
itself
was
top
notch;
excellent
condition
and
ran
beautifully.
We
had
a
couple
of
repairs
along
the
way
that
were
general
and
not
due
to
lack
of
maintenance,
all
of
which
were
reimbursed
by
the
company
as
promised
(keep
your
receipts!).
Learning
to
drive
took
me
less
than
an
hour
due
to
previous
motorcycle
riding
experience.
Since
I'm
the
same
height
as
locals,
driving
was
comfortable,
but
taller
folks
will
need
to
hunch
a
little.
Passengers
are
very
comfortable
and
there's
plenty
of
space
for
bag
storage
behind
the
passenger
bench,
too!
Bring
a
cable
lock
to
be
able
to
lock
your
bags
to
the
frame
of
the
tuk
tuk
if
you
don't
feel
like
lugging
them
out
at
every
stop;
bring
locks
for
your
bags'
zippers,
too.
Our
average
highway
cruising
speed
was
55-60
kmph,
which
was
better
than
we
expected
and
allowed
us
to
go
from
Colombo
to
Jaffna,
all
the
way
to
the
southern
coast
and
back
to
Colombo
with
plenty
of
time
to
spare
in
between.
The
lack
of
A/C
wasn't
a
problem
as
there
is
plenty
of
air
flow,
and
thick,
roll-down
covers
for
the
inevitable
rainy
days.
It
can
be
noisy
but
honestly
we
preferred
it
to
driving
in
a
sealed
up
car;
it
allows
you
to
be
more
immersed
in
the
environment
around
you.
The
required
daily
fluid
check
is
easy
to
do
and
only
takes
5
minutes
or
so.
It
can
get
your
hands
a
little
dirty,
so
keep
a
rag
handy.
We
recommend
buying
your
own
bottle
of
engine
oil
from
a
shop
at
the
beginning
of
your
trip,
so
you
can
do
your
own
pil
top
ups
instead
of
needing
to
find
a
mechanic
every
few
days.
The
support
team,
both
via
Whatsapp,
phone
call
and
email
was
phenomenal
-
they
helped
us
out
with
a
couple
of
unexpected
repairs,
and
even
helped
us
get
out
of
a
traffic
ticket!
Shehara
and
Wietse
did
a
fantastic
job.
Wietse
also
saved
us
a
lot
of
headache
by
laying
out
a
great
sample
itinerary
when
we
picked
up
the
Tuk
Tuk.
The
provided
manual
was
a
wealth
of
information,
as
was
their
website/blog
--
we
highly
recommend
reading
all
of
them
thoroughly
to
make
the
best
of
your
trip.
We
had
a
phenomenal
3+
week
trip
in
Sri
Lanka,

big
part
