The spot with the best view in town. Many youngsters will come here to sit in the evening, to meet with friends and have a drink overlooking the city. It's an open space accessible 24 hours a day well known among visitors during the day and locals during the night

For me personally, it's a nice addition to the information about how the city was protected. Apart from the building itself and the description of its function, you have a very nice view of the whole town from the top of the tower.

The Thessaloniki walls surrounded the city from the Middle Ages to the end of the 19th century. Many of them, including the one from the sea, were destroyed during the reign of the governor Mehmed Sabri Pasha. Thessaloniki has been fortified since its inception in the 4th century BC, but later walls date back to the city's early Byzantine period. The walls are built by the late Roman method of masonry of cut stone, alternating with brick rows. Part of them is the Triangle Tower from which a beautiful panorama opens. Since 1988, the Thessaloniki walls have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Sunset was unbelievable! But consider that you have to walk to up for almost 1 km if your hotel in the center. You will be sweating :) but I think this view deserves it.

Very interesting historical place to learn about Thessalonikis and its rich history. The wall is still in good shape. However, Tuesdays are not the right day to visit historical places or churches. You can see the entire city from up here, although I would have liked to see the sunset. But ran out of time. But overall, it's a nice walk around and no hustle from people trying to sell you stuff, like in other countries.

The tower stretches a few hundred meters. Different colour of the tower during sunset. City views are incredible, especially during sunset. Many people grab something to eat or drink during sunset. Souvenier shop nearby and plenty of cafe/restaurants to choose from. Also if on the hop on hop off bus, this is one of the destination stops. Enjoy the photos.

Views, views, views! The old town at the top of the city central with the fortress walls looming above. Inside the walls are adorable shops, cafes and super restaurants. Go early, watch the sunset and stay for drinks to see the lights of Thessaloniki! Steeped in history, rich in culture!

It is hard to walk here but it's worth it. The tower and the walls are huge and the hill surrounded by this walls. The view is impressive. You can sit and watch it for hours. You can see everywhere at the Thessaloniki's coast side. Don't forget to bring your camera. After visiting this place, you can walk a little in the green areas around.

The information in the tower are interesting. In summer time it is really hot inside. There are multiple rooms to inspect with mostly just text about the history of tower. The view is the most interesting part. You can see far into the distance. Nice panorama. You can buy a combined ticket for the fort for 6 EUR.

Beautiful view overlooking the city. It is free to look on the ground level, and $3-6 to get to the very peak of a little museum which used to be a barracks/living quarter for Greek Soldiers.

Nice historical place to visit. The whole route from Arch of Galerius to this tower is worth a walk, because this is the old city's wall. There is nice view of the city from above.

Really cool fort and best views of the city. Its a must. If you follow the walls up the hill from the cemetery there is a tower you can go to too. It's €6 and the ticket gets you into the tower and the Fort. It's worth it for the views alone

We visited the site with my kids. The cost of ticket considered for myself expensive (6euro) so we didn’t enter the Tower.Just enjoy the view of the sea and the city.

Small tower but some of the best views of historic and new Thessaloniki are available when at the top.

  • 4/5 Ivan A. 2 months ago on Google • 8 reviews New
Great view of the city. A little bit disappointed with the graffiti and some trash in the area, but if that doesn’t bother you then, it’s a great place to visit.

An impressive tower with great city view and featuring a long park for a good town walk

  • 5/5 George M. 1 year ago on Google
This is the place with the most beautiful view of the city. Next to it is the main entrance (Portara) to the Upper City (Ano Poli). The area of Thessaloniki known as the Upper City (Ano Poli) is built up in the northwest and starts from the area above Agios Dimitrios Avenue, Olympiados street and reaches the Acropolis and the Heptapyrgio (Yendi Koule). It is the only point of Thessaloniki that keeps alive the form, the layout and the habits from the first years it was inhabited.

Lots of people come here for sunset. Once you get here you’ve made it to the top of the hill. Try going west along the wall to get a better angle of the sun as it sets though

Nice view of Thessaloniki from acropolis. Cute cafe and houses nearby.

  • 4/5 Chris G. 3 years ago on Google
It's one of the most beautiful places in the city of Thessaloniki!! You have the middle ages walls next to you and you also have the view of the hole city in front of you!! The only bad thing is that its little bit dirty and sadly some of the walls have graffiti on them!! Besides that, you should visit this place with a nice cold drink at summer or something hot at winter and just stand there and enjoy the view.. but please don't throw your garbage everywhere keep this place clean!!

Nice overview over Thessaloniki.... we got there with the Bus behind Whitetower for 3,50eu, after the View by Walk till downtown. Lot to see, but hot!!!

  • 4/5 The Honest E. 4 years ago on Google
The twin to the White Tower with an exceptional panoramic view of Thessaloniki. Visit it at the sunset and while there .., look for the Mauris Petra st. for a more private spot with equally stunning view.

  • 5/5 Kevin S. 4 years ago on Google
This is truly a wonderful place. A place to take a picture with a majestic view. Also to wait for the sunset, with a blue sea, and an open view to the city, and the walls behind you. Amazing. I went to this place twice and you will never get bored with the place. I think thessoliniki people are so proud of this place. Check the photos to see how good it is. And i also recommend you to walk from the city centre, as it will pass the local neighbourhood, and it is not that far though.

One of the best places to visit.it has maybr the best view of the city.especialy night is even better.i recoment all of you to go.and it has bars and taverns very near so you can do everything tou want and not be in the center of the city to avoid noise

  • 5/5 Alex N. 4 years ago on Google
I liked the place a lot, the tower is in an artsy neighbourhood which is friendly although it doesnt seem like that. Thesaloniki has a special flavour and i recommend to walk towards the tower on the hill to see the special and unique houses near it.

  • 2/5 Simon S. 3 years ago on Google
Unfortunately due to Covid19 restrictions there is very limited access at present. Effectively it's to the open air top of the tower and that's it. The entrance ticket though is for both the Heptagyrion (Byzantine Tower and former prison) as well as this

A must visit place for the locals and the tourists. The views of the city are amazing. The sunset stunning. Don't take a taxi to go back to the city. Just walk down the narrow streets and feel lost. Don't worry. All the streets will get you to the center. Cheers and yia mas

An old tower which was part of the old city defensive perimeter. Great view of the city, can get a combi ticket for €6 and also see the fortress.

  • 3/5 Craig S. 2 years ago on Google
Better viewed from outside. The admission is too high for the value. It is a good hike uphill from the center of town. If you don't hike hills often, then think about using a taxi.

  • 5/5 Henk J. 2 years ago on Google
Must visit place to get a great city view!

  • 5/5 Ivan D. 4 years ago on Google
This rate goes out to the view specifically :) the tower is beautiful as the most of buildings from the same period are but the view... it’s breathtaking. You can see the city panorama all the way to the Olympus mountain. We’ve chosen this place for the last day of our visit in Thessaloniki and will come back :)

  • 2/5 Aleksandra M. 2 years ago on Google
It is a good place to see Thessaloniki from above. The streets are nerow and houses old. You can go by bus 23 and come back through the stairs, but meabe you don't have to go... It looks better on the photos than it is.

  • 4/5 Zsolt P. 1 year ago on Google
Nice view on city from there. The Tower entrance few is 6€, for my opinion to much for taking 2-3 photos which honestly can be taken also outside in front of the tower
