The only reason I give the Agora Modiano a 4 and not a 5 is because it has potential to be better. Currently the place lacks soul and a sense of purpose. The selection of stores you will find is very eclectic, but perhaps too eclectic for the average Greek as prices here are on the higher end and not friendly to the locals. I want to see what this looks like in a year from now as this is still a relatively new concept for the city

The Agora Modiano Market is a beautiful and historic market in the heart of Thessaloniki. It was recently renovated and reopened in 2022, and it is quickly becoming a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The market is home to a wide variety of shops, including food stalls, cafes, and boutiques. There are also several restaurants on the premises, offering everything from traditional Greek cuisine to international fare. The market is located in a central location, just steps from the waterfront and the city's main shopping district. It is easily accessible by foot, bicycle, or public transportation. I visited the market on a Friday morning, and it was surprisingly quiet. However, I could tell that it has the potential to be a very lively and vibrant place. The shops were well-stocked and the food stalls were tempting. I enjoyed a coffee and ice cream, and I explored a few of the small shops. I believe that the Agora Modiano Market has the potential to become the new modern heart of Thessaloniki. It has all the ingredients for success: a beautiful building, a central location, and a wide variety of shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend visiting the market if you are in Thessaloniki.

After decades' decay, finally Agora Modiano was restored as a modern and wonderful market to European standards. It deserves to visit it. What is the con: I was expecting to have a lot of stores with food delicacies, but I got disappointed.

The renovated market hosts a variety of deli shops and unique street food restaurants! The selection of colours and materials show up the city’s multicultural identity. Definitely worth visiting!

Come for a snack, meal, coffee, cocktails, ice cream, and shopping! Upscale but not pretentious with food at every price point AND vegan (except the water store…that’s a bit much haha). And no upcharge for the location—same prices as you can find elsewhere in town. Plenty of seats upstairs. ♿️ friendly. Stores have no steps or a small lip for entry, and there is an elevator with ramp for the upstairs. HOWEVER, the bathroom door is transparent (see photo)!!! Not okay. Please ask management to fix. 🐶 Dog and child friendly. ⏰ Note: Half the shops are closed on Sunday, but still worth your time. Even the breakfast spots don’t open until 10 (8 on other days). 🥵 Suggestion to Management: It is too hot inside. The fans upstairs help, but not enough. Also, please post which stores are open on Sundays (half are closed). Also, you NEED to replace the ♿️ bathroom door (see photo—people deserve privacy). Please fix ASAP so I can give you 5 stars. You’ve done so well on everything else.

We went there twice to look for some Greek products to bring back home with us. The shops that we went to had very friendly staff that were happy to talk about their local products. Of course, there were still a lot of empty lots, but the ones that were already there were great! If we get to come to Thessaloniki again, I wouldn't mind coming to Agora Modiano once more.

One of my favorite places in Thessaloniki. Full of shops, restaurants, cafes, souvenirs, etc, with an upper floor to have a break, seat, and eat or drink whatever you ordered. Special mention for the two shops in front of the other : one does tuna (pasta), and the other does egg sandwiches. Both are absolutely divine. Must-visit in Thessaloniki

Seafood, all kinds of meat, olives, spices… you can find it all and more at this beautiful market. Everything looks fresh and tasty especially the fruits, just as they were brought here straight from the orchard. The prices seem a little bit higher than on the other markets in the city but location and the size of the Modiano pay it off.

Nice aesthetics, traditional flavors and shops in the center of Thessaloniki. You can buy your grocery, good quality meat and fish and much more of traditional Greek cuisine!

Renovated and impressively modern Central Market of the historic center of Thessaloniki City. Many food products for purchase or immediate consumption. It seems that other interventions are also planned. Considerable positive action for the city, its residents and tourists. Worth more than one visit. It's hard to find a table on the mezzanine during busy hours and days. Have the experience on your visit in Thessaloniki City!

A new modern small food market, recently renovated, that would be nice to visit and try several local tastes.

Beautifully redone, but not all spaces are filled yet. Seems geared to tourists mostly with shops selling food items like Greek honey, cheese, meats plus some interesting places to eat, a good wine bar, an ice cream shop, German street food…. Upstairs has seating, a bar at each end and live music at one end.

really clean and impressively modern central market of Thessaloniki, they sell both local street foods and modernised versions of salads, cakes and ingredient shops. lovely second floor canteen, it was always kept immaculately clean and the helpers who worked there were always friendly to help us clean up our tables afterwards. Really nice place for a break during your city tour.

Very pretty place to shoppe around We were here on Sunday (all shops are closed) and most stores are open and offer a variety of meals, gifts, local produce and even a small kid area with great staff that helps with the entertainment. The prices are a bit high but you get good quality. Definitely recommend rainy or sunny day

I visited Modiano on a Sunday afternoon a month before Christmas. It was nicely decorated and not crowded at all. The shops offer a variety of goodies and there’s seating available if you want to eat there. It was a tad bit cold considering there’s no heating. I feel the place lacks that cozy atmosphere of the past thus the four stars.

One my favourite place in all of the Thessaloniki if not my favourite. The diversity of products is amazing, with many of them being local or indigenous. The shops available can suffice almost any taste bud or costumer. I would surely recommend. (Also available are vegan friendly shops :)!)

The building has been renovated and reopened to the public since March 2023. The upper deck is a space where you can have your food or drink among other people as a public space. WiFi and WC is available if you buy any product by any store. Not all the stores are open and it’s not very crowded. At the moment the visitors are mostly non locals and tourists. I enjoyed my time at Agora Modiano and I really appreciate that the whole place is back to life and hasn’t turned into another ghost building. Unfortunately the character of the structure is gone resembling an extension to the Airbnb approach of the city to almost all its renovated spaces of the center.

Market area in a passage with lots of cute stores selling all kinds of fresh and packaged products. It is super nicely decorated. Though if you come early on a Sunday, unfortunately the stores are closed.

The market was rather deserted, as far as the "true market" area is concerned... For some market action it is better to cross the street... Still, there are some rather busy restaurants inside the covered market area...

Great service and great prices. They did my friends fish with flour when she was gluten free and they promptly remade it without flour and gave us free dessert. Very responsible.

The original building is currently closed due construction work and the whole market got transferred into the upper block. Less beautiful than the original but still worth visiting.

A must see in the heart of Thessaloniki. Old former Modiano market covered mall place that was slowly going into ruins is fortunately currently under repair.
