First time here! Good emergency hospital in Montreal. Yes wait times are long (4-5 hours) but better than other places, stay patient & communicate clearly what you need, they will go above & beyond to make sure you get the best service & care possible. The only things that some of the stuff not professional in communication and not clear what they do!

I hurt my leg and I needed stitches for that, so I went to the ER and they made me wait for 11 hours! I arrived there at 9:30PM and left at 8:30AM. At 2AM we were only six people in the waiting room left and they only called us around 6:45AM, I really don't understand why it took them so long to call other patients in? Then, after they called me I had to stay over 1 hour in the consult room to get a doctor to see me. The doctor was very nice though, but the organization was awful. And, the WORST part? The consult room was disgusting. There was so much dirt, even a cleaning machine and blood from other patients that was on the table where they put the things to cure me... I am very very disappointed with this. I have attached pictures. The very least you can ask for a hospital is for it to be clean.

Been here a few times but the wait time is so long. Also I wonder why they ask people on the count of 0-10 what their pain is if they are not going to pay attention to them. The last time I was here I spent about 6hrs before I could see a doctor and it took more 4hrs to have a diagnosis. All this while I was in extreme pain and they didn’t even give me any pain killers only the doctor to write me a prescription and said go to a pharmacy and buy the medication yourself. Yes I can afford to buy the medication but could you at least give me something to calm my pain? I honestly wonder what’s the meaning of an emergency center if you can’t even provide someone in pain with at least two pills to easy their pain. I was sent off the same I came in, I was in so much pain and could barely walk. Who does this?? I think you guys just want someone to first drop dead and then you will know they’re in pain. I was so disappointed with their professionalism. If you have an Emergency, clearly this isn’t the place.

The doctors know their stuff and are caring and personable so that’s reassuring but its lacking in that I don’t feel like I ever know what’s going on and can’t make progress about my health. Expect to wait 5-11 hours for the whole process to be completed. Waiting room is freezing in the summer. (Edit: I came back at the end of the summer and it wasn’t freezing anymore and was actually a comfortable temperature, maybe they fixed it or maybe they only blast the cold air on days when it’s hot outside) People are waiting sick and don’t expect to need to bring a jacket or blanket. No one monitors the waiting room to screen for emergency situations that should impact the triaging order, I had to pass the message to the team when a woman was screaming in pain. The last time I went I got an X-ray on the spot and they didn’t tell me anything. I had to ask for confirmation that I don’t have a collapsed lung. They said I don’t and they’d get back to me in a few days about the bone in case of fracture. They never got back to me and my doctor who I see at the Jewish Herzl clinic 2 months later told me I had a contusion but no fracture. Good to know now lol I could have tried doing some treatments earlier. I was still experiencing mild pain 2 months later and still am somewhat. you should at least mention “minor” issues to patients so they can be aware and monitor their health and change things when there are things bolded by the machine on the blood test. Instead they lied and said everything was normal and didn’t write any notes about them. At times when I was having really concerning symptoms they didn’t record them accurately or the story that went along with the issue. Didn’t really explain much about what I could be having and just told me to keep monitoring the issue in case it gets more serious and come back if necessary. I only found out things by doing my own research and ordering my medical records and analyzing them but the medical records themselves are patchy so it’s hard to monitor things in a given moment or over time. at least theyre sufficiently knowledgeable about basic emergencies and have a somewhat empathetic staff and are well equipped. It’s sad how this is like the best emergency in Montreal . I’ll keep coming back because there’s no better alternative as far as I know Why doesn’t the government fund a team of professionals to be in charge of following up with people?

I brought my octagenerian mother with a broken leg in the cast to Jewish Hospital’s ER in Montreal. Although triage was relatively quick (within one hour) and personnel polite, the wait for the physician in the cold, drafty waiting room with constant stream of sick and injured, is longer than 5 hrs. Even very healthy would get sick. I would not consider that a humane or efficient way of treating patients. Yes, hospital is busy, but workflow management is not there. Entrance is confusing, there is a volunteer helping, no wheelchairs at the entrance. It would be better if hospital can afford more doctors present there when the influx is high than a volunteer to orient patients where to go and tell them to put a mask on. Patients in obvious distress were being helped and advocated by other patients, because there is no staff to help. The scenes belong to the third world country, which I guess Canada or perhaps just Quebec joined recently. My rating is minus 5 and recommendation is DO NOT GO unless you are very desperate and have nowhere else to go.

5 hours+ wait time while there's 1 other person in the emergency room. That one other person's been waiting 7 hours. Terrible wait times, nurses don't care or bother to listen. This is after being told that I had to go to the emergency room right away and can't wait until morning by another nurse. Edit: after waiting 6 hours, I finally got called. They sent me to the covid wing to get a covid test despite complaints of chest and heart pain. I left, went to glen, got seen in 15 minutes there and got treated for heart damage. Completely unreal how terrible my experience at the Jewish was (bonus: the glen had to keep me overnight and to do so gave me a covid test after treating my heart. Result: negative)

I have never been in any hospital my life waiting for 8 hours!! I came here with pain in stomach and waited for 8 hours but still they didn’t let me meet with doctor!! i don’t understand what they are thinking? to heal pain by itself? is this an emergency ward or what! I would not recommend anyone to come here in case you have emergency! choose other options!

Rude stuff, terrible service and a really long waiting time. In addition, is it possible that a hospital doesn’t have a bed ??!! I came because a lower back pain and they just gave me a wheelchair, seriously?!! I can’t sit down and I asked for a bed like three or four times but no body cares. I told them at least if you don’t have a bed give me a painkiller but there answer was that you have to wait the doctor. Isn’t it an emergency?!!! You must provide an immediate doctor for serious cases

I have come to the emergency department for a "Chest Pain" as I am showing all signs of Heart Attack. Still I am waiting here for more than 3 hrs . Still no doctor to check up. On top of that we have very very very rude staff who dont know how to behave with "Patients" . I went outside of the waiting room and when I came back the sliding door was closed. I waa not aware that they keep it closer and only they can open it. I was just looking at the door hoping it would open and just touched it. And the staff behind me was shouting something and making gestures with hands " that of opening the door" . I thought they said to open the door with both hands. When I tried that they said no and come here. When went there. One lady with bloodshot eyes was screaming at me and was saying - " Do you open doors like that at your home also ? " I mean seriously first of all learn how to treat patients asap who have come to emergency rooms especially those who have come with chest pain. Learn how to behave with patients. Who shouts at patients who are are not in good state. You work in a hospital where you will get patients. You have to care for them not yell at them. It is been 3 hrs 40 mins and still waiting to be checked.

They're very focused on whether you want to see a doctor or not. If not, you go home. I understand that. I sprained my ankle near the emergency department. My first reaction was to go inside and asked for bandage ( it's a hospital obviously) so I can compress my ankle by myself. I asked the information person if I could get bandage since I just sprained my ankle, he just said to get a ticket and they're gonna call you. So, I did. The person called my ticket number. I told him that I sprained my ankle and asked if I could get a bandage. He asked me if it's an emergency and if I need to see a doctor. I said no, I just need a bandage so I could wrap my ankle since I already injured it recently and it started to swell. He just told me to buy the bandage at the pharmacy... Well I just went home after that. I had to decrease my walking distance to rest my ankle and really, don't have time to go to a pharmacy considering the distance of the location. Ain't nobody have time to limp in an area full of people. 😅 Well, I guess, It was still good to ask. It wasn't a serious injury so basically, you're on your own. Just go somewhere else if you're not bleeding or dying.

I don't understand how this hospital works. it is almost impossible to reach anybody by phone. you have to call and call and call and it just goes to voicemail and voicemail says it's full. how are we supposed to get in touch with anybody? why even bother having a phone?

Everything very disorganized in the emergency room. And for that you pay at least over 1000 dollars. Very bad! You say three sentences about your condition and immediately you are categorized as sick or less sick. If you ask carefully and in a friendly manner how much waiting time you should expect, because you could go to another hospital in the meantime, you are nagged and smiled at. In particular, Manna Solution is treated disrespectfully by the gentleman with the pigtail and dark hair. It's a shame how he treats people. The lady with the blonde hair and glasses is also disrespectful and just laughs at the fears you have. You are treated like dirt here. The toilets are absolutely unhygienic, no matter which one you go to.

You come here for an emergency and they tell you to pick a number and have a seat. Enjoy the wait while you're in pain and urgently need to see a doctor.. this is the state of health services in the province now. The entire procedure is confusing at this hospital. Conflicting signage at the entrance and lack of communication with staff. No parking so good luck if you're coming by car. It was disheartening to see staff mistreat patients and yell at them.. it's already hard enough as it is to be at the Emergency. Nobody wants to be there so please be patient and understanding with people, especially the elderly. Wait times are honestly not too bad compared to other hospitals. Waited maybe 4 hours in total between triage and seeing a doctor..

Padding on the waiting seats are worn and uncomfortable - please purchase larger, more comfortable seats giving the wait times. A wheelchair is so much more comfortable in comparison. Maybe small benches would help for those who have to wait 5 hours. Bring a warm blanket, food, water, tablet, travel pillow, pillow to sit on, something to cover your eyes. I think the stuff was generally nice, some guys may seem rough, but sometimes it's just a matter of being tired or annoyed - it's not a fun job after all. Security stuff, nurses and docs were fine. As for the wait time, as you know you are called by priority and if you happen to be at low priority, you can expect 7-9 hours total wait, including once in the doc room where you will still be waiting for a while. I think they try to clear all low priorities within 8 hours or so. Better have your mind set to this and better have a strong 'psychology': I've seen people sleeping in the seated position, it's basically a state of mind. I've see someone with an open toe fracture having to wait 5 hours or so. The problem is, there are not enough doctors for the night shift. The government does not increase the number of graduates because here in Quebec the doctors earn a lot, specialists earn anywhere from 300.000 to well over 1M/year after 10 years. A lot of money to be shared by few, if there were more of them, each would have made less money.

5 hrs and counting just waiting to see a doctor, the waiting time is extremely high, if anyone were to visit the emergency, I would recommend you bring water and food, you will be tired. Edit: It is a disgrace to see that everyone is simply thrown away in the waiting room, until you see your doctor which could be never before you turn extremely angry for waiting such a long time

This place has renovated and upgraded. But that's where the illusion ends. Staff are rude, unfriendly and treat visitors and patients like garbage. They don't care about you if you are a patient. I am taking my name of the patients list there and never want anything to do with them. This is where our tax money goes: to ingrates and sociopaths.

The staff at the emergency entrance was super nice and helpful. But I spent 5 hours in the waiting area and am still waiting while being seriously injured and bleeding. No one even cares! Edit: After 6 hours I saw the doctor and they were super good so at least the wait in the end was worth it but still it was too much.

It's 10pm now, mom who broke her leg is still waiting for the doctor, we've been here for almost 10 hours. She had spent 30 minutes in an ambulance and 5 hours in a wheelchair in the EMERGENCY room with her bound leg at a 90 degree Angle!

Being there today 11th of nov , 10h30, with a torn biceps. The nurse from triage was, to say the least, very rude! Snatch my mask of my face to put the thermometer in my mouth without warning me, rude and aggressive in dialog, she didn't even look at my arm, started immediately saying " you gonna stay here all day, better go to a clinic ". Me, working in the field and having donne my research , I said " this needs a MRI to be diagnose properly and a surgery is the only way to repair it. " to which the nurse started being really pissed off, told me to get out, how do i know all that and it's gonna be long for me if I stay. I ask " whats with the attitude " , she said "you have one , I'm gonna call security, get out"! ... Kind of nurse who think she s the boss of the hospital, wearing jewellery on arms and hands from top to bottom, face fully makeup-ed like a girl from Ste Catherine street, cheewing gum when speaking! How can a nurse behave like that ?!! Of course I got my business some where else. Pitty for Jewish H.

I was referred to the doctor of hospital from my previous doctor who was awesome, and now I'm having my symptoms and would like to see the doctor and have been waiting for it for 4 months so far. I was supposed to have telephone consultant, which I'm sure it's going to take just under 30min (or much less). Today nurse or receptionist called me saying my RDV is going to be one month later than the original RDV date. I explained her I'mve been having symptoms and she just got irritated and kept saying "I'm doing all I can do", that definitely sounds like they don't care about patient with on-going symptoms. It's probably not just hospitals' fault but QC's medical system it self too, but WOW can't believe living in advanced country and having such a hard to time to see A doctor. In even developing countries, it's not this hard to see one doctor especially he just does 20min consulting. This province needs more docs for sure

I came in for a burn injury, waited 4 hours for a 5 minutes consultation with the doctor. Very unorganized with the staff. A nurse made a bad comment/“joke” about my last name and the other nurse defended him saying it was not insulting and just brushed it off even after letting them know that it made me feel uncomfortable and insulted. Avoid if possible.

This is honestly the best hospital in Montreal. It’s worth the wait (6hrs emergency.) The staff are really caring & absolutely the best at what they do. I’m only disappointed at the team from the triage, REALLY mean nurses…… but once you pass the triage, team in the other side are incredible! Thank you all.

I went to the ER. Had an amazing doc that after several tests figured out what was wrong and i am very thankful for their help. I spent 10 hours in here but left in much better condition and the medicine prescribed has worked amazingly. The hospital has a lot of people coming in for ER so be ready to spend between 5 to 12 hours there (like in any other er) but they are honestly really good at prioritizing life threatening emergencies and responding to to them. I think it is important to note that Sometimes it seems like there is no people in the emergency, but thats because i noticed inside they bring a lot of people that might be infectious to others (covid or other possible viruses) and also, the volume of doctors might be lower overnight (what i gathered)so be patient here, thats my best advice. Once again, im very thankful.

Not even 1 star. My experience at this hospital was very negative. I had to wait 10 hours to get 4 stitches on a finger and then, due to the wound getting infected, I had to come back and wait another 10 hours without receiving attention. The attitude of the staff was also disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone because of the delayed attention and bad attitude of the staff.

5 hours of waiting in the ER !!!! People came after me by hours , stepped in , went out and still waiting , frankly don’t know till when yet , will update it as soon as I know . An update after waiting and half , the 2 doctors we have are not available . No patients stepped in for an hour now . Ok here we go today September 16,3023 at 19:30 I stepped to the emergency recipient ,!picked a number , 7:40 I was called by the nurse at 19:40 then asked me to go the registration, which I did and finished at 20:00 At 22:30 I asked the nurse how long I will be waiting and he confirmed that before midnight I will be seeing the doctor. 23:30 the soft is changed , everyone left and new crew is there whom I kept asking when I can see a doctor as I am in pain , yes soon but we need to clés the rooms !!!!! At 1:00 o’clock I had been asked to go to the room , the surprise came when I stayed there till 2 :30 till a resident doctor showed up ( I have no clue if the emergency should be run by resident doctor or no ) . He was nice apologies for something supposed to be not his mistake .

Let's be real, our health system kinda sucks (alot). But somehow the Jewish Hospital makes it bearable. If you were to compare to other hospitals in Montreal, this hospital wins by a landslide. If you can't affort to see a private doctor or need immediate care, this is absolutely your best bet in the city.

Last night, I came in from another hospital after not being taken seriously and being made to wait a long time for what turned out to be a kidney infection (38-39 C fever that day). The Jewish saved me from going septic: the first triage nurse I saw immediately took me seriously, told me that this couldn’t wait and listened. I was quickly moved through the rest of the process, no step took more than 1 hour and I met/saw so many clearly busy but clearly kind members of staff on the way. (They treat you like a person!) The doctor quickly pinpointed the problem, I got treated shortly thereafter and there you go! 5 very very grateful stars to this hospital.

It's a top tier hospital. The care level is outstanding. The ED is great but use it for emergency not for something that can be addressed in a clinic. I never had any issues with any of the staff. If you are polite and respectful you will be treated the same. Don't expect any miracles as it's a public establishment with it's set of limitations imposed by the system and to which the staff is not at fault. The staff simply does as best as possible under the circumstances. I never felt neglected nor improperly treated. To the contrary i always managed to get a solution or support for the issues i was tending to. All staff truly are dedicated to the goal of helping patients. Everyone i dealt with was professional attentive and caring. Keep in mind they are under pressure to treat ad many patients as possible so they can seem to be quick but their experience allows for efficient and accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Ridiculously long waiting times at emerg + why should one wait 1.5 hours after doing x-rays to get results...that part should’ve been faster. People were screaming in pain and were made tp wait long hours. I think the triage system has to be updated and modified
