Today, I felt harassed. Such a negative experience had occurred today at the Cotes Des Neiges location on September 28th 2020 between 1-2pm. I had spoken to a man who claims to be the floor manager and he said he apologizes on behalf of his staff and that he had spoken to his staff and said that the situation had been addressed appropriately, based on that he spoke to his staff, and that his staff said that she 'apologized'. And that he himself apologized to me in person on their behalf. For one, the manager was not there when she 'apologized' it was barely an apology as from her demeanor one can tell that it was not a sincere honest apology. The staff member seemed fully aware of what she did. The moment my mother and I came upstairs (to her section) I felt like we were silently being harassed. Staff person was sitting down, while chatting with another customer. My mother and I were holding 2 pillows from a basket thinking if we should buy the product. We placed the pillows back into the basket. The staff person then put down her mask and said "Excuse me. Excuse me. That's not how you put them." To my confusion, at first I wasn't sure what she was talking about. Then noticed she was looking towards the pillows. I thought uhh.. okay. Thought it was odd for her to respond like that but anyway I will try to put the pillow how they were so I thought. So I place the pillows parallel into the basket (instead of just placing them in the basket but either way seemed appropriate.) Then she said "No thats not how it was". So I then flipped one of the pillows over so that both patterns of the pillows were facing the same direction.then she said "Thank you very much." And continued chatting to a customer while sitting down. A few minutes later, my mother and I noticed she would still be watching us from afar. We did not think much of it. We thought it was still odd for her to address us in such a way earlier, considering we had just arrived and did not seem to be causing trouble at all. Still in her section, we went to look at the other pillow on the couch. I was checking one of the pillows with the pillow in my hand, simultaneously my mother was putting another pillow back where it was (even if she was still interested to see the pillow) because she said she was afraid because the woman (said staff) was looking at us again. Barely a minute after, the woman (said staff) came up to me and without saying a thing, abruptly grabbed the pillow from my hand. The price tag fell either when she took the pillow or while I was holding It, I don't know. However, when I looked up after she grabbed the pillow from my hands she said "Well you know I still need customers knowing the price so I have to just put the price back on." She said something else after but I can't remember anymore. I was just so in shock that she just grabbed the pillow from my hands and I wasn't doing anything wrong or out of the ordinary. Check the cameras. I politely explained to her that first, it is not nice to pull away merchandise from a customers hand without talking to them first. Especially when a customer was being completely appropriate with the item. I told her that as staff, it was quite unprofessional what she did. Then she just looked at me motionless and started walking away while saying "okay ill take your advice." I did not see at all that she was apologetic. I think her actions deem more than just a simple apology from her manager. As I have also told the manager, what if the customer she had done that to was more on the aggressive end and had a short fuse? At least I took the time to talk to her calmly and politely at that. I think most people for that matter would not have taken what she did lightly. I would like to be compensated appropriately for her lack of unprofessionalism and for the manager not being more proactive about this situation. Had she grabbed the pillow out of my mother's hand, I know I wouldn't have been so damn calm about it.

It was good when it was Rona. Now a shady place with very poor customer support. They consider doing their job a "favor" to the customer---I went today to return an item I had purchased 2-3 days ago. I went through all types of attitudes from cashier (who barely could speak more than few words of English) and other staff claiming that I hadnt pay for the item to whining why I had torn the plastic cover of the item (a darn ziplock. Nothing fancy). Eventually, when I was fed up with the attitude, the gray haired fella told me that he is doing me " a favor" accepting the return of the darn 6$ aerator-after wasting nearly 15 minutes of my time. I threw the item in the bin and left the store without any refund. This was it for me. 10 years in this neighborhood and this used to be a good store. Now it is run by a bunch of disgruntled aloofs that are in fact unqualified for ANY job dealing with customers.

Very helpful staff! I received a fast service with tips and suggestions for my project. I was guided to select the best product for my need (ceiling hook to hang plant pots) and not the most expensive ones. The advice I received really helped me achieve my goal, much clearer to get told a step-by-step than looking over the internet. Thank you!

Leaving this review for a specific employee who was working downstairs. I had a mold problem in my kitchen & bathroom and the employee was so incredibly nice. He gave me really good advice and I felt more confident in tackling the problem. He obviously wasn't in it for the money, he took the time to check so he could recommend me the best deal. It's been a while since any employee at any store has been so helpful.

Rude service by Chantal H. that yelled at me for disturbing her when she was occupied at the cash register for asking politely if I was at the right place for paying since it was the first and last time that I went to their store. Go to the walmart down the street. I cannot believe that someone that works in customer service can be so impolite and aggressive when they were so "rushed and stressed", meaning that there was only me and another customer in the entire store... Is doing the minimal thing at your job doing favors or charity for your customers?

a shopper of Home Hardware in Toronto for years, I came to rely on their friendly service. I came in this location for a small purchase of moving boxes. I barely got to the basement and a French young man rushed to help me...although great I felt a bit uncomfortable as if I were under scrutiny to rush my purchase and get out of their store. Back upstairs to pay, another French cashier was acting all snooty when I wanted to make sure parking was indeed free....I got some moving boxes but unlike other boxes bought elsewhere their sizes were not indicated on them and had been previously used as I could see some remnant/traces of tapes from previous use including product and company info of the original user...why charge full price for boxes that are not new when there are so many other alternatives in the area?

The staffs are approachable and they actually entertain you when you need help. I bought pieces of wood and ask them to cut in specific dimensions. I would recommend the store and will shop there in the future.

The neighbourhood hardware store... great for the little things you need to do around your house, including plumbing repairs and especially painting, staining, oiling, etc. Also has a selection of home decor.

The staff are kind, attentive and extremely knowledgeable. The other day I brought in a lamp of mine that was broken and they fixed it right there in under five minutes.

The staff are so friendly and helpful, and I always find what I need, even if it's not a big box store. The personal touch really counts, and I go out of my way to support them whenever I can vs buying online.

They don't follow up on orders. We tried calling, they have no answer. We ordered an item 2 months ago, publicized in their circular, and no answer. Terrible.
