This is a Govt Hospital. Treatment is free. It is a Fairly old medical center run by Government of Kerala's Directorate of Health services (DHS). Medical graduates are given training in Preventive Medicine and Rural Health. The facility is in the center of Poonthura town a suburb of Trivandrum. Poonthura has a marketplace . Fishing activity is the main activity in this area. Many Temples and mosques are located at Poonthura. The Corodova school and few Govt schools are nearby. Bus service is available to East Fort . Autorikshaw and Taxis are available here.

Poonthura community health centre is situated at the middle of the Ambalathara- Poonthura region. The primary health centre well equiped with Professional doctors. The doctors worked round the clock. All the basic facilities provided including pharmacy, dressing room, casuality care, observation room and others. There is ward facility (more than 100 above bed) arranged for who admitted in the hospital.

There is OP and IP available here but the facilities are minimal. It'll be crowded during day time. Pharmacy, nebulization, dressing, lab etc. are available. The place is accessible easily as it's just 200m from the bypass.

Today Monday I came here 8:30 for eye check-up, but till 9:45 no one came for check-up section.. irresponsible employees...too bad
