The view of the kovalam beach really makes german bakery a beautiful place to dine at. The staff is super friendly and food was quite good too.

Located above the beach hotel on the first floor, the German Bakery and Wave restaurant provides an extensive menu. You can choose authentic German cuisine, seafood, drinks, tea, and desserts. The food is served fresh, although it takes a long wait. The sandwiches and grilled fish are a must-try. The view overlooking the Kovalam Light House and the sea is spectacular. Enjoy the candle light dinner with the sound of waves.

Their service is great! We ate here to have a small break from the gravy based foods, and we were happy to return. I could order a lobster for the following day, and they presented me a choice for it, fresh that day. Their pomegranate juice is amazing! Did I mention the staff was nice? Edit: their view of the sea from the first floor is also nice

It's the best place to eat good food in Kovalam beach. Coconut prawn fry is highly recommended. Service speed is a bit slow, but acceptable considering the food quality and ambience.

Good food. We went here for breakfast. Ordered English breakfast and farmer's breakfast. The English breakfast was a bit lacking but the farmer's breakfast on the other hand was very filling. Ordered a banana cake and lemon cake for desserts. Was pretty good and the quantity was great for the price.

Beautiful rooms, feels like home. Zero plastics, not your normal hotel. It has ample space, a small sit out, a big bathroom, outside shower, and even an outside wooden hanger for your wet clothes. Everything is well organized.

Definitely the best eatery / hangout spot in Kovalam beach area. The vast open terrace is bang on the beach with a view to die for. The menu is quite extensive with a lot of continental options which seems to be a rarity in this area. We ordered a portion of Fries, a Bruschetta and a Crotini. The fries were fresh and hot. Bruschetta was fresh but the Crotini was the best. We also had slices of Chocolate and Lemon cake which both were fresh and with just the right amount of sweet. I highly recommend this place and would definitely be coming back for a proper meal.

Good place to enjoy on the beach . However , still there is a room for improvement. Menu option is fine as per German dishes. Initially tried sweet and sour fresh Lima but was presented in Indian style. Too sour.

An update of my review New : tried out their lemon cake after so many recommendation but I didn't like it, it felt like normal cheese cake with some lemon juice poured on top . Now they don't have Heineken ,just kingfisher bottle beer Apart from that all food items I really love & appreciate as usual ,will visit again My favourite restaurant in kovalam Previous: I had grilled shrimps and calamari masala with a heniken (can, felt like an authentic one ). I ordered normal rice for the main . I went around 7-8 pm ,during that time I found most of other restaurants around here are either empty or hardly anyone in it . From the reviews I sort out that Germany bakery have something unique When I went, there were around 20-30 guys ,most of them were appeard to be foreign nationalities This place have a special vibe with their rooftop and candle lights facing the beach and light house . I recommend everyone spending evening around Kovalam must visit their place atleast for its vibe For the food part ,not over priced , quality well maintained , quantity more than sufficient I strongly recommend

Amazing location and very good German dark bread. Their funghi pizza was also very tasty, but the soup was a disappointment. Definitely worth visiting for the view of sunset.

I visited for lunch.. food, vibes everything was good. Note - There is no alcohol menu on food menu book.. just simply ask them to which one do you want.

Great location overlooking the beach. We were there for breakfast. Decent options however a little pricey considering the items that come in a combo. English breakfast comes without sausage which is without reservation surprising. Omelette sandwich and crepé are options to reckon.

Lovely place to spend your evening in Kovalam. Awesome food, good service and great ambience. The cakes and hot chocolate was yummy 😋 Wonderful spread of snacks, desserts and main course available. Price is also affordable. The place is facing the beach so you can relax & enjoy the amazing view of the sea.

The restaurant has a great view of the kovalam beach. The sun was a bit harsh while dining in the evening, but then the sunset view was really wonderful. The seating of the tables improved our view. The food seemed good and tasted nice, but the delay and price was a bit too much. The people working there seemed really friendly and helpful.

We had coffee and cakes from here. Both of them are great in taste and worth trying. Price is almost reasonable. Ambience is the winner, facing beach and relaxing while eating hits different 🙌🏼

A good restaurant with nice view of Kovalam beach and light house.Food is nice but a tad expensive compared to nearby outlets.They can add more of local cuisines to get more footfalls from local crowd.

The German bakery and the waves restaurant are one of those new restaurants that sporadically popped up sparkling new after the Covid crunch. We had a throughly disappointing experience yesterday here; that too even before we got any service. Two of my cousins and I had visited the place yesterday night around 9pm, to plan and book the restaurant for my son’s Birthday party. The in charge ( a young man in beard ), whose name I couldn’t care to ask after the encounter met us at the lobby. He was mean, rude and spoke us with no understanding of customer relations. Point blank he said, we can’t promise you anything. ‘Marketing 101’ died ! He said the rains could spoil, and discouraged us from booking. When we insisted he said, look at the menu first and then tell us what you want and pointed us to a menu stand. The final straw was someone should come here and pay tomorrow! ‘Digital India’ laughed at his face ! The restaurant should really train their staff in customer service and relations. Anyway we decided not to join them and fixed a similar location nearby. For an establishment that is otherwise well known and of good repute this is a low.

We visited the cafe for a quick breakfast ride and it was a very pleasant experience. The breakfast options are really appealing, and of course, who doesn't enjoy a sea view. Open, breezy, and serves good food.
