The Room was good and the staff were quite helpful, but IMHO this place based on the good reviews I see on google, might be good for backpacking foreigners but not for us desis as it is totally not worth the money. The resort does not have parking and you have to park on the main road around 300 meters away and completely out of view. The room we booked mentioned a balcony , but in fact none of the rooms have a balcony. One image showed a huge glass window overlooking the sea but that is only available in one of their rooms. There is no compound and security might be a concern for some like us and no CCTVs either, anyone can easily loiter in, not kid safe I would say. We did not have any power or water for most of the day and we decided to check out the same day in the evening. The beach was also not directly accessible and it was quite dirty.

There is absolutely no parking place for this place. Parking is on road. The path leading to Santa Maria is very narrow. Rooms are good but there are no options nearby for lunch/dinner. There is completely no view from the rooms. The photos in the Santa Maria booking is completely misleading

My unbiased review after staying there for 2 nights are as below: Pros Very near to the seaside. Tranquil environment Cleanliness in the rooms, wash room and linens. Tasty Indian Food ( Had breakfast only) Cons No parking. No reception. No bell desk etc. It’s a sort of a Homestay. Entry is through a dark and a narrow alley. Cab services provided are about 20% costlier than open market rates. Limited food options and no flexibility at all. Breakfast menu is very basic and hardly any variety. Their food menu is fixed for each day. Rooms are tidy however devoid of any natural light. One has to open the door to let light in. AC doesn’t work well. No in-house mechanic. No bill provided if you book directly while they will charge entire amount on your arrival. Summary This property is more suited for foreigners and full focus on them as they occupy most rooms and drive the business. Food menu is also tuned as per their fooding habits. Will recommend only for solo travellers/ backpackers.

We had a pleasant experience here. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and very clean. The hosts are kind and give good site seeing recommendations. It is pet friendly. The location is good, many site seeing places are nearby, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore is so relaxing. Drawbacks: This is a guesthouse. There is no parking amenity, no tv or recreational facilities, the food is average. We found it expensive considering so many facilities were not available as we have travelled to similarly priced places with more/better facilities.

Positive Rooms were good Negative Horrible service Food facility even if you tell at 7pm cannot be arranged Morning tea when asked were told not possible No car parking at all. You have to park it on road. Rating 1 provided as room was good. Rest everything is negative including the owner who knows only to say no, rather than making the trip memorable. Quite pathetic behaviour. I would never ever recommend such a lousy place

We were here for 3 nights from the 24th. Words fail me to describe this great property and our welcoming hosts Alina and Bijoy. They were there at all times to answer any of our questions and help us with our sightseeing plans. We had a sea facing room and watching the sunset from our room was amazing. The room rate was breakfast inclusive and the fresh local breakfast being served was great. If given advance notice meals were also provided at a charge. We had two dinners at their house and the taste of the fish and meat as well as veg dishes served still lingers on after our return home. Alina & Bijoy wishing you both all the best, and from whatever little interaction we have had, I am sure you guys will excel in your hospitality

The owners are very friendly and relaxed and attentive to the needs of their guests. They arranged for 2 day trips for us for an extremely affordable price with capable drivers in nice vehicles. Rooms are clean, a few meters from the beach, pleasant garden, quiet atmosphere. Airport is very close but no noise from planes. Definitely recommended.

I stayed here for a couple of nights prior to leaving India and it was great! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The views from the hotel where great and you are situated just steps away from the ocean! The rooms were very spacious, comfortable and always kept clean! The breakfast was great and it was a good mix of more western grab and go as well as some more traditional Indian food. The only downside is that only smaller taxi or tuktuk can get close to the location or it’s a bit of a walk.

It's a beautiful homestay right next to the beach. The room was great - clean and well-maintained. The beach is just 100m away and it's a nice walk to the Old coffeehouse on the beach. It is expensive but worth it.

I found the 'Santa Maria' to be a very positive experience. I had the room upstairs which overlooked the Arabian Sea, and it was beautiful. The owners were attentive, very polite, and welcoming. The building is only one and half years old, but it feels older thanks to doors and windows which came from a King's Palace. It is right beside the beach, and the garden has lovely flowers and plants. It is also very peaceful at night, and close to the airport.

We stayed at Santa Maria for nearly 2 weeks. The owners are very friendly and helpful in everyway. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and very clean. The location is good proximity to the airport . The sound of the waves crashing against the shore is so tranquil and the rooms have a pretty view of the sea . I will definitely recommend this home stay to anyone who is travelling to Trivandrum and are looking for an affordable and comfortable place to stay. The staffs are very friendly too..

Excellent Homestay, just on sea beach, only 30 to 40 metres distance from sea waves, excellent ambience, excellent spacious rooms and super spacious bathrooms- full of all facilities , welcome by having real flowers while you enter in room, Nice breakfast. I personally felt greatly relaxed. Only parking problem of four wheeler is there- ( Approach of car upto the room) they arrange it also. One can talk about it in advance- otherwise no drawback.

We have stayed here at Santa Maria for 4 weeks, and it have been amazing. We loved everything about our stay here. Perfect place for work trips, vacation and study trips. Very relaxing and calm place with a pretty view to the sea. The host is very friendly and helpful, they have made our trip so special, helping us with traveling around and showed us the temple festivals.

We had a great experience with Santa Maria during our stay 4th and 5th October 2022. The rooms were very cleaned and decent theme inside the room. Mr. Vijay (owner) sent car as complementary airport pickup service. They have very good and healthy breakfast during 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM. Team Santa Maria is very cooperative and effective. The location of the Santa Maria is awesome, just on the Sea. They have all types of services like local travel, and others. The very nearby beach (5 minutes’ walk) is Shangumugham Beach. We enjoyed hot street food over there. There are two coffee shop and restaurant near by the place. There is the provision to get food through Zomato or Swiggy in Santa Maria. Auto,Car stand available in the Shangumugham Beach. It is highly recommended to stay Santa Maria with family / friend / solo.

The 10 days we spent with family at Santa Maria airport hotel were some of the best days of our Kerala trip. The experience provided by this family-run homestay was everything that we wished for, and more! -- a simple, tranquil, family-style retreat, with the best customer service one could hope for, delicious food, fabulous views, and clean, spacious rooms & bathrooms, and all of this, at a very affordable price, right by the ocean! Although we could've picked any of the more popular chain hotels within the city, we decided to go with Santa Maria Hotel because we were a large family of eight members coming in from two different countries (as well as another city in India), with the sole intention of wanting to spend some time in solitude in each other's company, and I will confidently say that this place offered us just that. If you're looking for a cloistered hotel room in a high end chain hotel, this isn't going to match your requirements. This place is like a home, away from home. Albeit, in a much nicer place and with all your needs taken care of. Coming to the hotel itself, the road that actually takes you to the destination is quite narrow, so one would need to take a short walk to get there from the drop-off point (next to the fairgrounds), but if you co-ordinate with the hotel staff prior to arrival, they can arrange for pick-ups and drop-offs, as well as help with the luggage; so this isn't really a problem at all. All in all, this place is very ideally located. It is: 1) A kilometer away from Trivandrum domestic terminal and a few short kilometers from the international airport/train station 2) A short taxi/autorickshaw ride into the heart of the city and 3) A minute (or under) away from Shangumukham Beach! Make sure to check with the hosts for booking taxi rides to the city or for sightseeing. This is a much more convenient option than trying to find taxis on ride-sharing apps like Uber and Ola (their service is quite spotty and unreliable in this part of town). Although, we found it quite easy to order in via Swiggy and Zomato. The host can guide the food delivery driver for the exact location, if needed. The proximity to the sea was one of the highlights of our stay. The sound of the waves is the first thing that hits you -- aside from the salty ocean breeze -- when you walk into the premises (especially if you're checking in at night). And then waking up to this beautiful sound coupled with a view of gentle ocean waves lapping on the beach is literally the most wholesome experience ever! It's been a couple of weeks since we got back (to our home countries and our daily hectic routines) and I just want to say I can't wait to go back soon. Both, for the place, and the folks who run it. Their hotel is in its nascent stages, but the hosts, Bijoy, Aleena, Adrin and their dad, more than make up for any shortcomings (we didn't find any, to be absolutely honest) with their phenomenal customer service and gracious nature. Also, all the food they prepared was always fresh and so tasty! Both the free breakfast and made-to-order food. They made our stay as comfortable as possible with their kind and patient service, at all times. Their little boy was also a great buddy to my kiddo in the short time that they met. Overall, such a fabulous experience and stay.

Amazing stay by the beach side. Beautiful view of the sea from king size room. Good food and great hosts. A must stay place, close to the airport and a few steps from the sea. Just the kind of place you are looking to stay while you are on weekend holiday or a vacation. Loved it.

When I arrived at the hotel I immediately felt at home. My credit card didn't work and the owner Bijoy was very helpful and let me figure it out the next day. This felt very comforting on your first day in India. He upgraded me to a bigger room for only a small fee, so I was very comfortable with my ocean view room. Definitely a must have room! The breakfast in the morning consisted of simple Western style bread with jams. But what was really special was the real Indian cuisine they also put on the table; a special kind of rice pancakes with a delicious home made sambal and other Indian dishes. I forgot the names, but trust me they were very good. I wanted to explore town and I got a Riksja driver from the Bijoy that took me all day to all the good places near. When in town definitely ask him for the Riksja driver Venu, he's very helpful and speaks good English with you. There's a few very good restaurants on walking distance (5 minutes) from the beach in front of the hotel. There's very good dishes there and eating there was very good. On my day of leaving, I spoke about my travel plans with Bijoy and he told me in fine detail what places I should and shouldn't visit, we shared our contact information so we could talk about this later. This made me feel very helped and I know I'm going to ask for some other advice on places. I would definitely visit again and recommend this stay to everyone, whether you're a solo-traveler like (for the first time to India), or a family.

Our experience in Santa Maria was just excellent!!!! Bijoy and Alina are amazing host , the room was superb and the activities the proposed and organised for us , visiting the back waters and the center of Trivandrum, were unforgettable. You will be lucky to stay there, we hope to go back there soon 🤩

The rooms were not only spacious but also neat, the bathroom was equally impressive. We were provided with pretty decent breakfast with freshly prepared dosa and appam. While the lack of direct road access to the property posed a minor inconvenience, one of the staff (Mr Anil) graciously assisted in transporting our luggage to and from our car, demonstrating their commitment to guest satisfaction. This homestay’s ambiance, combined with the owner’s and staff’s warmth and attentiveness, more than made up for any minor inconveniences. It’s an ideal destination for those seeking a good retreat with good service.

The place is basically a sort of a homestay and not a hotel. Rooms were good with a good view and very accessible to the local beach. The service was not upto the mark with basic requests being denied. Based on the factors, I felt it's overpriced and not worth the money.

It was my first ever experience of living in a boutique hotel, as I and my family always prefer to stay in chain hotels while traveling abroad. From that aspect, I think I am not the right person to write a comparative review about this hotel. Anyways, I will discuss both the pros and cons but my rating will be a 5-star for them. I think the owner needs to clarify that they have only one premium room which is displayed in the add. I got it on the next day of our stay but on request, though the booking for that room was made more than a month ago. After that everything went smoothly and beautifully...the delicious traditional breakfast, the sea view from a clean spacious room and also from the romantic corridor, the hospitality of the owners- Bijoy and Aleena, and last but not least the heartwarming care and overseeing by Deepa, the intelligent, hard-working manager of them all together made our stay memorable for the lifetime. I would love to visit the place again and again.

It's a Very gud place at a better price where we will get beautiful clean and neat room, home style delicious food, friendly staff, chilling small park and beach access. We selected the sea facing room which had a high level king size bed- wow. Fantastic one to enjoy the moon - sea - waves and moon image over sea at midnight right from the bed. The place is located just few mins from words richest diety temple, beautiful churches, ISRO, Air force station and airport. Totally a beautiful and pleasant place to stay for a while..

One of the best hosts, I have ever seen. They treat all their guests like friends and family. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was neat. The sound of sea was heard throughout my stay. Excellent sea view. Peaceful environment. Overall its worth more than the money I paid. A must visit place. And its my fixed spot for stay in TVM whenever I visit.

This is my second time staying at Santa Maria. Friendly and care taking owners and staffs, clean and spacious room with ocean view, delicious South Indian food which the wife of the owner cooks every morning!! I also asked for dinner once as optional. The owner couple( Bijoy and Aleena) are welcoming and supported my sightseeing plan as well as for daily needs. I had really nice and relaxed time spending time at Santa Maria. It felt like my second home. I will definitely come back to this accommodation when I come back to Trivandrum.

This is not a regular hotel, its a guest house par excellent - with an authentic guest house experience you will never get in hotel. Felt home away from home. Bijoy and team has done everything to make us comfortable. We were picked up and dropped to the airport. We preferred Halal food, and Bijoy arranged the driver to take us to some best hotels in the town, apart from sight seeing. - Ali, from Singapore

Thank you Bijoy for the wonderful stay I had. You and Alena were the best hosts. I'll be back soon. Love love love......Santa Maria - ❤️

What did I like? The location, the place itself, my room, the people, the food. I booked 1 night but I stayed altogether 18 days. The location: is close to the beach so you can enjoy a beautiful sunsets and watch the fishermen bringing their nets in or go out in the open sea with their colorfull boats. Close by is a local restaurant with tasty food and a coffee house with good food I heard, but I didn't go there. You can also use a food delivery service. Every evening there is a small market nearby were you can buy snacks and other things. Airport and centre of town are also close by. The hotel can arrange a taxi for you. Or you go by rikshaw. The rikshaw spot is just a few minutes walk from the boutique and to town is only abt 10 minutes drive. The place: the rooms are spotless clean and spacious. I stayed in 2 different rooms during my stay. Both rooms were spacious. Also the bathrooms are spacious and offer good quality towels. The beds are comfy with a very thick comfortable matrass. My preference goes to the room with the sea view. Afcourse bcs of the view. The food: breakfast is included. Very tasty South Indian breakfast. Freshly made, and that you can taste. I heard a continental breakfast is also possible when you request it beforehand. The people: very hospitable owners. They go out of their way to give you a good time. The staff is also in this same line. Friendly, calm and patient I felt very much at home. It's a lovely quiet place with the sound of the waves and an ocean breeze. For sure I will recommend it to everyone bcs I loved it !
