After the renovation post flood related damage, the beach is clean and nice. A good way to spend the evening. The footfall is large but can enjoy without disturbance.

One of the famous beaches in Trivandrum but unfortunately it’s not maintained well nowadays. The beach is comparatively big and looks beautiful especially in the evenings. Not recommended for taking both because most of the times the waves are high. The walks through the beach side is an amazing experience. Shops are available nearby to have coffee tea and snacks etc.

This beach is beautiful and definitely a must visit. The ideal time to visit is before sunset. It does get very crowded in the evenings. There's a coffee house as well along with food and chaat stalls near the beach. Do take the kids out for a fun evening.

This beach is very near to Trivandrum airport and morning walk & long seashore looks great. But doesn't have much entrance at the beginning to enjoy the beach walk. Park is nearby to this beach. It would be great if govt would maintained this beach well.

The beach is pretty! Got an admirable sky view. It has one of the best dusk and dawn views. I just love the different shades of sky colours. Well, you gotta be on that non cloudy day to experience sky colours. The beach has a pretty long and wide stretch of walking shoreline, so you can make your way through the shoreline as the waves hit your feet and sand be your seat. :) The shore is comparatively cleaner nowadays which is a plus point why you should visit there😃. A stray dog control programme would be good though.

One of the famous beaches in Trivandrum. This beach is near Trivandrum Airport. Bus services are available all the time. Nice place to spend your time. Shankumugham Beach is a stunning natural treasure located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. This 3-kilometer stretch of golden sand and turquoise water offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. One of the most striking features of Sangumugham beach is its long stretch of golden sand. The sand is soft and powdery, and it is perfect for walking, swimming, and sunbathing. The clear blue waters are also a major draw for tourists. The water is calm and inviting, and it is perfect for swimming, surfing, and other water sports. the sculpture of a mermaid called "Matsya Kanyaka." It's a great place for relaxation and leisurely walks by the sea.

The ocean waves make sound that refresh your mind with pleasure of giving you a peaceful mind so that you will get relaxed and sometimes you will get sleep here and there is also place to sleep here .This is beach of a few length and you may opt to get into the sea and you may try phishing here by standing on the rocks. My experience was awesome when I see this beach. This is the beach of Arabian sea.

Shankumugham Beach is a beach in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, south India. The beach is on the western side of  Thiruvananthapuram(Trivandrum) and very near to Trivandrum International Airport. Good food can be enjoyed at the Old Coffee House, just across the beach, which is also a vantage point for enjoying the sunset. The beach is not well maintained, with garbage littering the entire area.🌴

One of the iconic places in Trivandrum to sit, walk, roam and enjoy with your family or friends especially during evenings. The beach is very long and moderately clean and gives a breathtaking sight of sunset in the evening. Plenty of families flock to this places during weekend evenings. Adjacent to the beach, there is a kids play area and park and several local food shops. Evenings are breezy and cool. Best time to visit is during sunset.

Went after seeing good reviews . But seriously it's a waste of time. We visited during afternoon hours as we had to catch a flight from the adjoining Thiruvananthapuram airport . Full of plastic waste, beach waste , municipality has not maintained it well. There is a park nearby which is better than the beach itself. And I am saying all this because I have really seen such beautiful picturesque beaches in Kerala. This was truly a disappointment.

One of the best places for site seeing. But the major problem was the plastic wastes accumulated at the beach and shore. And the boats are parked everywhere, so the visitors can't explore the beach to the fullest. The shops and vendors near the beach are almost hygienic still not up to the top notch.

What a beautiful place , i visited there in 2017 but that place was stuck in my mind as a wall poster. Beach is almost beautiful, sceneries are nice hotels, restaurants, airport make the background very well. But we must take some caution in order to avoid any type of accidents. Even though as a part number of people we must enjoyed a lot The statues near this beach must care and respect to unraval the culture of our nation

This beach is the heart of Trivandrum. Beaches is all-time favourite. Nowadays this place is quiet crowded. There is a nearby restaurant which is quite affordable. On the way to the beach there is a beautiful sculpture of a mermaid. Also there is goddess temple on the way. Parking facility is provided.

It was so beautiful beach and a great place to enjoy the mornings and evenings with family or friends. As of February 2021, most part of the beach is destroy by the high tides and maintenance work is going on. Hope it will come back to it's glory so soon. You can still visit the place and many visitors are still coming. Also many people are playing sports on the beach side.

I feel sorry for this place and the people living close to it.😭The entire beach has been consumed by the sea.(during heavy monsoon and hurricane). Roads are completely wrecked. North of this area is ok and is still good. The Airforce helicopter is a good prop to take pics. There are many new decorative lights.❤️🫀

Best small beach 🏖️ for sunset from the car. you can enjoy sunset by the sea ⛵ with comfort of your car.. you can park the car by the road side and can enjoy the sunset view without even getting down to the beach. But this is only if yo lucky and quick to reach the nice parking spot before anyone else! We reach there by 5 to get a nice parking spot and enjoy the view of the blue turn bright orange and dark grey after dusk. By the way, the parking spot is not at the entrance or at near the mermaid statue. It's actually towards the left side from the entrance to the beach.

Well, the beach sand is back after last monsoon (hope it stays). Small improvements every time I visit (once a month minimum). Park, beach, vendors, Old Coffee House, helicopter, mermaid, cycle park for kids, reasonable parking (congested on weekends and holidays) - it has got it all. Was lucky to witness an awesome sunset this time around.

This beach is very to Indian airforce and Kerala airport, Its a best place to hangout with family and friends in the evening time avoid visiting in afternoon time its really very hot out here. The beach also covered to plastic and other waste but very less compared to other beaches, I request all lete stop throwing waste here and use dustbin. Lets save this place for our coming generations 🤗😊❣️ This place also has a Indian airforce memorial 45y old old iconic Aircraft (Mi 8 Helicopter named Pratap). Surrounded with beautiful garden for kids and adults. You can really have a nice night life here with your family and friends. I loved this place hope you will love it too 😊🤗❣️

Good beach.. However lots of garbage is being deposited across the beach which is highly pathetic to see..this makes the entire area dirty..Authorities shall take some action on this.. also for the reconstruction of demolished roads Inside..Sunset view is superb.. So many Street food vendors are there in the surroundings...lot of scope for the beautification and for better toilet and neat sitting facilities..In total the area need more cleanliness and structured arrangements..

Shangumugham beach, On a Saturday night 🌙, Is a magical combo for people of trivandrum, The sea takes away your problems and recharges you with hope and energy for another week, instills in you peace and tranquil, What a magnificent place, The street vendors and the parking is a havoc during peak weekend hours, Walk past the crowd to the right or left and you will experience magic of the sea, Indeed a magnificent place to spend time

This is one of best places I ever visited. There is Amrita Deemed to be University and it's a very nice college with fully equipped labs and experienced faculty and there are many beautiful places near by college like Amrita Sethu (foot over bridge over Kollam-kottapuram waterway). You can enjoy boating and you can get rented boat when you visited with friends and family. Also there is a beach near by and you can see many people who are practicing Yoga and meditation along the beach bay. It is really very silent and peaceful place.

Located near to Trivadrum International Airport, beautiful and clean beach. An airforce helicopter and beautiful sculpture of a mermaid adds the value. A cosy coffee house is located in the beach where you can sip the coffee with the beautiful view of sea n breeze. The sculpture sagarakanyaka (mermaid) built by famous artist Kanayi kunjiraman is wonderful to watch. The park around the helicopter donated by indian airforce is under construction and likely to be completed in couple of months time.

First place coming in mind when people of trivandrum or traveler from other places exploring Thiruvananthapuram. Wonderful Hangout beach and scenic sunset view. Wide beach to spend time with family. Good quality street food and snack bars. Mostly by local people including those from other states settled in trivandrum. On weekends and holidays, it may be little crowded as other picnic beaches. But wide and lengthy beach doesnt feel like over crowded. Roads leading to the beach may be crowded at and near of parking lots. It possess uniqueness of all age categories presence and provides a happy vibe. After covid 19 out break an sea roughness, entry restricted to the sea side (latest update Jan 2021). Take care of your travel plans.

One of the beautiful beach in tvm near airport. The speciality of this place is four trasport system are meet together in shankumugham.. air, road , rail and water.. these four are met here together.. and this beach give us calm and quiet place.. most of the people visit here evening and holidays.. we can see beautiful sunset in the sea. One children's park is here.. now there opened a new restaurant of KTDC for tourist.. but sea is not safe for children.. one who dnt know to swim you should not go to water, only stay in sea shore. Recently waves destroy the road and some seashores. So beach is little dangerous. But you can enjoy lot of time here. And one temple of sankumugham devi is also located near the sea. If you are visiting Trivandrum ,please visit sankumugham beach..

One thing to remember is that dont park the vehicles in the road because police is noting that number you will get petty ,you can park the vehicles in the park area have a small charge also 5 for two wheelers and 20 for car . Try to use dust bin not throw the plastics in roads.

The place has become a graveyard of what it used to be. They poured in money to develop the place and all they did was break everything and construct nothing. My childhood memories are all I have left..

This is an excellent tourist place at the capital city, but I would suggest the kerala tourism department to do some more modifications to attract tourist within the country or outside the nation

The beach once renowned for its beauty is now in an utter pathetic condition due to sea erosion. Not worth for visiting and it is highly dangerous too.....

This is not so fancy place. But being in the city it is a good place to spend some time on the beach. It has lots of food stall in evening. People also visit in the morning for morning walks.

Shankumugham Beach is a quaint location with the beautiful white sands, pearl waves gushing around and a scenic atmosphere to lure you with. You can plan a weekend getaway or witness the splendid sunset with your special one at this beach which is located miles away from the teeming crowds and closer to the lap of healing nature!

At the moment there is nothing to enjoy in shangumugham. As the roads are all destroyed by the sea. Only for fitness purpose its good to go there.

Fine beach. Overcrowded. Just at road level. Warnings are issued often here. There is a tsunami park nearby. Near to Thiruvananthapuram airport T1

This beach is great to spent your evenings and relax. Nowadays the beach is not open due to Covid-19. However, the park is still open to the public. There is plenty of space to park your vehicle. The beach is situated very near to the Trivandrum airport.

Shankumugham Beach is a beach in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala and very near to Trivandrum International Airport. The sculpture of Sagarakanyaka - Mermaid by Kanayi Kunhiraman is an added attraction. This giant statue is more than 35 metres long. The 'Jawaharlal Nehru Park of Traffic signs for children' is situated here, which is helpful for the children to understand the traffic rules while playing in the park. The park also provides cycling facilities for small children. The military area of Southern Air Command of the Indian Air Force and part of the main airport are situated near Shankumugham Beach. Veli Tourist Village is near the beach.

Renovations are in progress, so beaches are closed for public. But you can visit park areas with kids and enjoy the beautiful statue and an original Air Force helicopter 🚁. There’s enough paid parking areas for car. It is advisable to spend 4:00 pm to 7:00pm with family and kids.

The beach might have been beautiful at some point of time. But it's under construction so not accessible to public. The area outside is also beautiful with small park for children to play. I happened to be there when there was a carnival going on so I could spend beautiful time with family and had lots of fun.

Sunset was really beautiful. And the sky colors changed and reflected on the water. But waves are brutal, they won't allow inside also its nit recommended.

Amid the heat of everything we go through in a busy city life, if you wish to take a break in serenity and silence, then here is a place to visit, especially during week days, there wouldn't be much crowd, and the vast wild beach waves takes all our attention. However during weekends, it is pretty crowded and noisy. There is enough parking space outside and also has adequate cleanliness. Dining at the Old coffee house gives a nice sea side view while eating. Altogether such a beautiful place to spend the evenings!!!

The beach is not so clean. Very crowded. Early morning hours are good - calm and no crowd. Fast food counters are open in the evening. People are just dumping trash on the beach. Be careful while walking - glass pieces are there.

The vibe is another level at night ✨. It's a place where you can relax and release your tension and stress. Take a walk along the shores and you feel the happiness. At night time also the beach is on. Street dogs are a concern yet it's a beautiful place to chill with friends and family. We visit there once in two weeks and we love it ☺️

The beach offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, allowing visitors to unwind and reconnect with nature. Whether you choose to relax on the sandy shore, basking in the warm sun, or take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, every moment spent at Shangumugham Beach is a true delight.

Try visiting this place on week days, while it's not crowded. Sitting there and watching the waves made me calm my mind. Golden hours brings out the best view of this place. It's best to avoid going there during high tide waves and heavy rain times.

It serves as a perfect spot for leisurely walks, enjoying local street food, and immersing oneself in the local culture. However, visitors should be mindful of the crowds and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

The beach looks amazing and must visit in trivandrum. Its so much calm and very perfect ambience. I would recommend to visit the beach on evening or night as it would be more confortable and many street foods would open at evening only.

Shangumugham Beach, situated on the outskirts of Trivandrum in Kerala, India, is a captivating destination offering a delightful blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences. Spanning a coastline kissed by the Arabian Sea, the beach boasts golden sands stretching as far as the eye can see, inviting visitors to indulge in serene walks or relax while witnessing breathtaking sunsets. One of the beach's charming highlights is the colossal sculpture of the Matsya Kanyaka (a mermaid), a symbol of folklore and mythology in Kerala, standing tall and captivating against the backdrop of the ocean waves. This artwork adds cultural depth to the already picturesque setting, attracting both locals and tourists alike. The beach buzzes with activity, hosting numerous vendors selling delectable local snacks and unique handicrafts, providing a glimpse into Kerala's rich culinary and artisanal heritage. Families, couples, and travelers find respite here, enjoying moments of tranquility, kite flying, or engaging in beach sports and activities. Beyond its scenic allure, Shangumugham Beach acts as a gateway to the vibrant local culture and is a perfect spot for immersing oneself in the soulful essence of Kerala. Its serene atmosphere and cultural significance make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a harmonious blend of nature's beauty and regional charm in God's Own Country.

I visited Shangumugham Beach on a sunny afternoon, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous mermaid sculpture and the sunset. As I reached the beach, I was greeted by a gentle breeze and the sound of waves crashing on the shore. The beach was not too crowded, but there were enough people to create a lively atmosphere. It was a nice experience
