Chalai Market is the busiest place in the Thiruvananthapuram city. All types of vegetables and fruits are supplied from here to entire Thiruvananthapuram district. If you are a Tourist, please come at the early morning, you can see beautiful scenes. Porters carrying loads, lot of lorries unloading and loading goods, whole sale and retail sales, sale of flowers, funny moments of porters.. Go to the inner market, there you can see hundreds of small shops and the real beauty of local market. You can buy any type of vegetables and fruits with reasonable price. Try bargaining from the merchants, it will one of the best experience...

One of the oldest and historic markets in trivandrum you will find everything inside the Market most of the shops in Trivandrum take their materials from here only as they sell materials in wholesale too . The bummer about this place is the lack of parking and even if you take your car inside the Market it's difficult to get out from the Market or even stop at the desired shop to purchase so better park outside and go by walking. A must visit place for all the people

Lovely shopping area. We got clothes and brass items but lots of other items are also available. Had some good snacks at a bakery too in between the shopping. Area is well connected and lots of autos are available. Some of them offer packages for sightseeing too.

A place for all your wants ! Chalai market is an old historic market located at central part of trivandrum district. The market contains lot of retail and wholesale shops where you can buy your essentials.most of the time the market is over crowded .Chala market is located opposite of te East fort central bus stand where all the city buses terminate. The main entrance is located at the junction between Gandhi park and KSRTC bus garage. The place gets very crowded in the evenings. A number of good eateries also dot the area. The 2 km stretch is one of the busiest shopping streets in Kerala. Mubarak Hotel which started in 1970 is one of the most oldest restaurants in Chala. come and explore the market ❤️

Chalai market reminded me alot of the street markets in New Delhi. The market has alot of variety of spices, fruits, flowers, snacks and eats to offer. I've heard it's one of the oldest markets of Trivandrum! The lanes are narrow, and it's best to explore on foot. Might be a little difficult to book an auto or a cab here but there are autos available outside the market.

Chalai market is very big market in Thiruvananthapuram area. Have more number of shops and all the needs in wholesale.. vegetable, fruits, dress, pardha, shawls, plastic plates, plastic products.. toys , chappals, bags, trolley..more and more more products in wholesale. Books, stationery everything wholesale and this place more crowded with bikes.. need separate parking facilities for this market. And very tuff to reach this place too these are the little drawback in this place. And it's was very good and effective place for who have small shop and they need to buy this for wholesale price.

One of the oldest market in the city. Even there is a quote like you can even find alien space ships in chalai market. Meaning we can find everything over here. Its a staple place if the foreigners are going to visit Thiruvananthapuram. The market and the peoples lively hood is raw over here. More over this should not be rated on 5 or 10.

One of the iconic locations in Trivandrum, actually this location is part of life of a trivian. This place is a heaven market except our personal people rest is available. Different quality items are available for the same material. This area is very crowded during different festive seasons and it is little difficult to walk through the road during that time.

We visited Chalai Bazaar on the recommendation of a local storekeeper. The best lime juice, not too sweet and with a twist of ginger. But even more, the most authentic filter coffee you can find and in a tumbler too. Historic trade place since Tiruvitamkur dynasty.the place is a jack of trades, all traders work in harmony and the city's people love to roam their with friends.will find imported dates , local grapes , , apples and oranges. Shoe stores , gold shops , household tools

It's s one of the oldest and busiest market in Kerala, there are lots of things to explore inside the market. There is lots perfume, Athar& oudh shops inside the chalai Market. If you go next time buy Athar or oudh it's has good fragrance and long lasting. If you come out from the market you can see World's richest temple "Sree Padmanabha swamy temple " .. Everyone come and visit

Used to be the Business hub of Trivandrum, but the place has lost its value for now, due to non availability of parking spaces. You will get all types of utility items for your house and also for small scale retail business purposes in nominal rate, which is cheaper than any stores in the city. Grocery, vegetables, furniture, home decor, plastic utility items, steel utensils, clay utensils etc....all in one shopping... Place is always overcrowded, most of the shops the prices of items are reasonable.....Due to covid the old chalai is now less crowded. But you will get anything and everything here.....

The most busiest place in trivandrum, this is the major wholesale market in the Trivandrum city. There is a paid parking available outside of this market for both two and four wheeler vehicles, so dont try to take your car or bike inside the market during the daytime, as it will be mostly crowded and the road are that narrow.

One of the iconic place situated inside the heart of Thiruvananthapuram. Heavily crowded during festive time. If possible, go by two wheeler . East Fort Bus stand & Trivandrum Central railway station are about few meters walk from the market

The oldest and largest market in Kerala. Sprawled over 1km radius, Chalai is not a single market but a hub of many. I realised that there’s nothing one can’t get there. From Vegetable to Utensils, Furniture to flowers, fruits , groceries, grains & fish. Origin - existed in 14th century Location - Opposite to Padmanabha swamy temple. Closing day - Sunday

What you would expect in a market. A combination of old and new. Superbly clean in the mornings but tend to get a little worse by evening. A good market overall. A must see for tourists.Visit vegetable maket in the mornings. You know how they tend to become in the evenings.

An old market in Trivandrum city! You will get all the items in cheap cost compare to other shops. Very rush market and weekends are super busy here. There is a paid parking available outside of this market for both two and four wheeler vehicles. If you need to buy something in cheap cost I recommend this place. Before going there for purchase items, keep in mind this is a big market and deferent categories of items are located in deferent area.

This is the place you need to be if you are looking to buy spices in large quantity. But you should someone who can identify quality of spices because there are too many shops and you can find different quality. Prices are much cheaper compared to any other market.

There are sections of various kinds of shops. Difficult to get a car in for parking. Mostly place for 2 or 3 Wheeler vehicles. Explore the streets by foot and will find something suitable. Main bus terminus is at the exit end of the one way street for those who want to use this mode of transport.

Best place to buy your home essentials at competitive price. But you need to walk a lot. Also congested roads. Best to come with a scooter. Small cars can also be used.
