If your thinking about joining David Lloyd Rouken glen read this first. Has the worst management team and customer service, I have ever experienced at a gym. I've been a platinum member for a year. For me my partner and 2 young children £272 p/m, that's with a NHS/key worker discount. Told them I wouldn't be renewing my 12 month contract before my renewal date, told I need to give 3 months notice. Which is ridiculous, my initial contract ends on the 20th of June told I need to pay up until the end of September. No chance. I gave notice I wasn't renewing and the reasons for leaving been waiting over a week for management to get back to me. All I get is I have to pay for the next 3 months from customer services, not from the management team. Terrible management team and customer service. I was leaving due to on numerous occasions the front desk screen says over capacity but they still allow members in. This also happened during the COVID restrictions on numerous occasions, towels are given to every guest that asks without proof of membership, so why did I get told they are only included with certain memberships. My friend has the membership which doesn't include towels but still gets them no questions asked everytime they go. No one was ever challenged on not wearing a mask in the areas you were meant to wear them, social distancing or not wiping down gym equipment after use, staff watch members do this and do nothing. Showers weren't working properly for ages, kitchen closed when it should of been open, no one bothered to inform members, or change the kitchen open times online. Just bad management across the board. The free kids classes are down to 2 classes in the morning a day on a Saturday/Sunday same with over the school holidays. Food service is a joke, no check backs, plates and glasses are left on tables pretty much until you ask for them to be cleared away. Sometimes tables are left covered in glasses and plates for over 30mins after the guests have left the table. Food is hit or miss at the best of times, when you complain all you do is get an apology and told it's down to new staff in the kitchen? That's if you do even get contacted by the management team, all I hear is someone will contact you, no one does. On the other hand if your someone trying to join you will never wait to speak to someone and hear straight back, that's until your a member, then you never hear back from them regarding a complaint or if you do it takes days to get a reply to a response. Definitely not worth the money, customer service is shocking, and non existent. Once again bad management. It's a shame as if the customer service and management team was better. I would not of been looking at leaving, as the gym, courts, swimming pools, spa and most of the staff are great. Would not recommend just due to poor management and shocking customer service. Just in response to David Lloyd reply. I have 2 emails from customer service saying the management will be in touch from over a week ago and management hasn't been in touch. So why would I send another email asking to be contacted?

Been a member for a few years now and have mixed thoughts on the club. Some very good aspects such as swimming and the karate class for kids. They have many policies for all aspects of the club operations but only like to apply them when it suits them. My child was late for a class and they have a policy that states up to 15 minutes late is still allowed but this is not the case. My child’s place was given away after under 10 and the way the club handled the situation was very poor. Did not know their own policies and when I was told the general manager would contact me, he never did so I’ve cancelled my membership with immediate effect. Very poor customer service and won’t be going back. Be warned, good when things are ok but senior management have zero customer skills and for a club with the fees this one has, that’s just not acceptable.

David Lloyd Rouken Glen is one of the Best Clubs I've been to. Fantastic Quality Facilities. The gym is stocked with all the newest and best equipment to please even the most fussy gym rat! The Changing Rooms are kept spotlessly clean as are all the surfaces within the club. Both indoor and outdoor pools are kept at a comfortable temperature. I especially Love the Platinum Member's only Spa. Again kept scrupulously clean, this is the perfect place to de-stress, unwind and relax. Two Saunas kept at different temperatures and a Fantastic Steam room, my personal favourite 😉 Indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis really provide plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy in comfort and safety. This Premium Club really is worth the membership. The Club Room food is pretty Great too 😋

I visited this club after my cousin invited me and brought me in through a guest pass. It was supposedly meant to be an exclusive club but I think it only has that status because of the membership price which is an astonishing £130 a month. The club did not make a good impression on me at all. The saunas are so dirty, as if they hadn't been cleaned since the construction of the place and the jacuzzi- I think they let children in there to play as it is like a sandbox! I don't know who the manager is there, but if I were his boss, I'd fire him for not being able to contain this mess of a place! 0 stars if possible-definitely wouldn't consider joining here or returning for a second visit.

Very clean and spacious changing rooms, swimming pool excellent, plenty of cardio machines to choose from. However the actual weights section of the gym is very small, equipment crammed in and not a huge range of machines or bars. If you are looking for a weight lifting gym then I would look elsewhere. Otherwise, top notch facilities.

Best club from the many David LLoyd clubs I have been in. The spa areas both indoor & outdoor are very well maintained. The water temperature in jacuzzis, the air temperature in saunas are most of the time spot on. The gym has 2 Theraguns and lots of supplementary equipment that is really useful for sessions. Hot meals in the café are much higher standard than in the neighbouring DL clubs.

Rejoined last year with spa package. Disappointed as the demographic has changed considerably. Spa is now generally overrun with neds shouting at each other and scowling at anyone not in their tribe. Mobile phones everywhere too, which should be banned. The club is building a bad rep for this.

Weight area is shockingly small for the monthly fee but I understand this pays for more than just weights so if you only do weights I qould recommend elsewhere

A really nice venue which was great for a 2yr old. We were visiting the pool and the soft play for the day and he loved it (particularly the warm baby pool!). The outdoor pool was also warmer than I expected.

Pool is very cold!in the gym no crunch machine! Tennis courts impossible to book, let alone to have private lessons as no one ever comes back to you. Overpriced for no reason!

David Lloyd west end staff should train at Rouken Glen. Rouken Glen gym has great facilities that are clean and well maintained. All staff are down to earth and very helpful. If I lived close by and it was more convenient I wouldn’t go near the West End DL. All DL gyms should provide the same customer service skills and should be very clean and maintained well!

We had a great experience visiting the club today. We we're shown around by Craig who just couldn't do enough for us and took a lot of time and care to make sure you get the most out of your membership. He's an absolute asset to the team at the Rouken Glen club. Best club I have ever been to and can't wait to come back. Thank you Craig for your 5 star customer service! 😊

Good course , made to feel welcome , very hilly on a couple of holes on first nine , greens a bit patchy and dry, but to be fair the weather has been really warm and sunny , for a change.

We recently became members after being given a fantastic tour of the facilities by Cara, who was extremely helpful, and patient, throughout the whole signing-up process. All the staff we've encountered so far have been fantastic with the whole family, and we're really looking forward to many more visits.

My favourite gym in the whole world ! Amazing staff , clean machines , great steam sauna !! Best gym ever !

  • 1/5 Garry 4 months ago on Google
Pricing structure is all wrong when you compare this to other DL clubs. The gym is small and lacks a lot of different equipment. Spa area is nice but the sauna and steam rooms are not as good as other clubs and there’s no plunge pool. Golf course probably adds a chunk to the membership which I feel should be an optional add on as I’d never use it and majority of other members won’t either. Only a few tennis courts and no badminton courts👎🏻

Fantastic gym with great facilities. All staff members are so helpful and generous. The spa is always clean and looks new. Access to many classes for members.

Great gym but lacks rules or etiquette of other gyms. People drop weights, park in disabled and parent child spaces with no repercussions. There is also limited respect for non-neurotypical with loud music and often shouting in the main gym area, up to 85-90db. I invested in special noise blocking earbuds to compensate, but they are uncomfortable. The services with pool and spa over whelm these issues, but does not negate them.

Spa is so so dirty, where do I start? Outdoor jacuzzi is always cold, also when in jacuzzi multiple bits of gravel, stones and sand stick to your legs and body. Limescale all over the jacuzzi. Sauna floor and benches are always mouldy and have limescale. Steam room isn’t even a steam room, hardly heats up and you can never seem to see any steam. Ice machine is always off which puts me off from the spa completely. Towels have multiple stains on it as if not been washed at a high temperature which is 100% needed as they are being used everyday by different people. The showers in locker room are cold even when turned to high heat. Also being told the price will go up after the refurbishment + January as it is a new year, refurbishment has been ongoing since 2019 and still haven’t seen anything new in the club. I am genuinely sick of this club and am considering moving to parklands country club as I was a previous member there paying only £89.00 a month but thought I would switch to David Lloyd as it was “a high end leisure center” obviously it isn’t 😂. I don’t pay £150 a month to write a review on all the things that should be correct with a leisure centre that should be up to scratch with the price that they are charging. One staff member at reception is always huffing and puffing simply just by asking for a towel or padlock. Now that I have been a member here for a good few years im happy to say that this gym should charge £50 a month and not £150 especially with all of the things I have mentioned in this review

I recently joined and wished it had been a lot sooner. the facilities are first class as is the cleanliness. The outdoor pool is a real bonus and the staff are very attentive and always welcoming. I have yet to sign up for any classes but look forward to doing that soon as there is a great agenda of activities.

Overly expensive and quite small. My car was damaged badly in this car park a few years ago and nothing was done. The other members are not very pleasant.

The spa, classes, pools, gym and staff are all brilliant. Unfortunately the entitled people who attended are not so brilliant.

Nice surroundings, peaceful and efficient cafe, great swimming pools indoor and outdoor. Price-wise, it’s not good value for money… the gym is congested and lacks a lot of equipment you would expect when you’re paying £130 per month, like a Smith machine and more free weights. Good amount of kids activities on offer and the soft-play is always a hit with my daughter

I have just completed the fast track tennis course with Scott and really enjoyed it. I feel as if he has really helped me to improve my game. I would recommend this course to anyone at any level. I only joined the club over a month ago and am still loving the classes and facilities. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I have just joined David Lloyd Rouken Glenn and I have to say I’m delighted with everything. I was taken through the process competently and charmingly by sales manager Craig Glover. I wasn’t ready to join immediately but Craig kept me updated. I have never been a member of a gym of this size before and I am super impressed by all it has to offer. Thank you Craig for easing me into my new fitness regime!

I’ve just joined the club (after being fortunate enough to have a few guest passes through a friend) and I’m loving it. The facilities are fantastic especially the outdoor pool and the spa area. All of the reception staff have been super welcoming. Special shout out to Cara for dealing with my queries and helping me to have a smooth joining experience.

Went to DL Rouken Glen because I had heard their outdoor pool was open whereas the flagship DL in Corstorphine had closed theirs with two days' notice back in October! Really bad decision and a shocking display of contempt for the users of the outdoor pool. Rouken Glen was lovely - wonderful outdoor pool and a superb spa area far superior to DL Corstorphine. The outdoor jacuzzi was excellent! It also has a very pleasant, dimly lit adults only lounge which was relaxing. Not as many wild children running about as DL Corstorphine and a calmer feel. Top marks to DL Rouken Glen in a number of areas and nul points to DL Corstorphine for closing their outdoor pool showing scant respect for long suffering members.

It seems like the only people welcome or treated well in this David Lloyds is if you fit in their stereo typical of what a human been should be like according to their staff. If you are diverse or have different beliefs or dress differently or demonstrate religious practice via your choice of clothing this gym will Make you feel disrespected. And will waste your time money and energy. This gym will stress you out more if you thought a gym was a place to relax and enjoy not at this gym. Staff are appalling. Disrespectful. Like to humiliate . Gossip about members to make you feel Insecure.

More like a crèche overpriced for what it is. If you enjoy being splashed and have no relaxation waste your £130 a month here

Golf course - the centre itself I can not comment on but the golf Course was poor. Played it last year and was in decent condition but played it again today and was extremely disappointed with the condition. The greens were bare and bumpy and the teeing areas were bare and uneven. Numerous overgrown bunkers and looks like the bunkers haven’t been raked by the green staff in years. Now all clubs have rakes back out after covid this course never. Luckily I wasn’t in one during the round. It’s a good looking course with stunning veiws out over the city hence the 1 star, such a shame it seems to being neglected.

The price of this leisure club may put some people off, but the club is smartly run, kept up to a high standard and very friendly. Having been a member since it opened almost a year ago, I can highly recommend this club. Not only is it a place to get fit and healthy, it's also a great family location to spend some time. Brimming with up to date fitness machines, overflowing with classes and bouncing with friendly staff as well as great activities and classes for my 3 year old, this place is a small haven when needing a different scene from home, whether that's soft play for the bairn, spa for me and the wife or a tasty bite in the club room. Use of other David Lloyd clubs is a bonus, but I've not yet had the need to venture out to another club as this one has almost everything I could ask for!

My experience with the club is limited to just the gym side of things, I don't use much of the other facilities. If you are looking for a place packed with things to do, eat, swim, work out, relax in the spa this place actually has it all. If you have kids there is also soft play areas and computers. Whenever I come here either at 6am or 6pm there's always machines available and things to do. Everything is very up to date with; body trackers, TV in the treadmills, plenty of weights and machines to keep you lifting. Plenty of showering facilities and lockers. You could move in if they let ya and you'd have everything you need. Staff are friendly and always kicking about if you need to ask questions. There's classes on pretty much all the time if you need that extra motivation. It's so packed full of things to do, all of that comes at a price however. But you honestly do get what you pay for. It's probs the most expensive club around this area, I've only ever been to the other gym one down the road and my fitness has skyrocketed since I had a plan set out for me and was shown properly what to work on. If the potential weightloss/gains don't keep you going, shelling out a fortune for it deffos will. There's all sorts of pricing available. Unsure what the current costs are, always best giving them a ring for a tour.
