Disappointing experience! My friend and I ordered our food (burgers) together, hers arrived and 15 minutes later mine still had not arrived. We also noticed a couple of tables around us that had arrived and ordered after us had their meals. After enquiring I was told it was only getting made now because the chef was prioritizing the meat burgers as he wanted to “knock them all out” and seeing as I had ordered a vegetarian burger it was put on hold.

Stopped in today for a sneaky pub lunch after a walk in the National park. Food was all solid, drinks cold and all prices reasonable. View back over the deck to Thredbo is lovely. Definitely worth checking out!

We dined at The Local on Wednesday night Schnitzel night - we all ordered the schnitzel and wine/beer special. Great value for money. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was good quality pub food.

So far the best pub in Thredbo, everything organised with much varieties that can cater all age group

Good location with nice views to the mountains. However the food was disappointing. We had the lamb kofta and calamari salad with noodles, and two flat white they came to $65 in total. The noodles were only half cooked. The kofta was quite basic, with a bit of lettuce with flat bread.

Dead mosquito-like bugs were coming out of the AC above us and one fell into my beer kinda gross (table was covered with them). Was otherwise excellent, good food and atmosphere.

    Good food and atmosphere

Beer prices are what you would expect from an alpine area. The burgers are on point for pricing and meals are massive and cheap enough to not blow your budget. Definatly recommend.

Nice atmosphere. Lots of big tables with bench seating suitable for big groups. There is also outdoor seating as well. Beautiful view, and a great place to hang out and grab a drink. Prices for food are reasonable and delicious too. They also have coffees here too, something for everyone. Food can only be ordered from 12pm. Toilets are available and were clean.

Wish I went to the pub the other reviews are talking about. Had the chicken parmigiana, a staple of a good pub and it was horrid. Small, dry piece of chicken with what looked like a thin slice of grilled cheese. Highlight was the Kosciuszko ale.

The price for the food and beverage is what you’d expect in the alpine area. The quality of the food and customer service are terrible... Unfortunately they were pretty much the only place that’s open (perhaps because we came off season), we have had no choice but to dine there..

    Old but nice

Wish they had VB on tap but good place for a meal, big portions. They are open every single day too so you don't need to go hunting around in the off season. Has darts and buck hunter and a few pokies.

Not riding so had lots of time to kill while my kids hit the mountain. Found a comfy sofa outside The Local Pub and settled in. Decent range of beers, great service and good, reasonably (for Thredbo) priced food. The chicken burger was great with a nice buzz of spice which was quenched with another cold beer 😀

Friendly staff and efficient service. Good selection of pub food and it was well done and tasty and generous portions. Does get busy 👌👌👌

The local is also the local bottle shop at the moment. We had lunch and it was above average pub meal. The servings are large making them better value for money. Lots of external seating and if the weather is ok you can sit outside. Also they have pool tables and other bar activities.

Always open, always good, always something new and delicious on the menu. As a Snowy Mountains local it’s a favourite place to go out to eat for the day. The meals are always substantial, so maybe get your walk in and eat here after as “reward”. (Photo is of their “macaroni cheese with Parmesan crumb and garlic bread”… yeah, exactly, and it tasted even better than it looks)

Good centrally located spot in Thredbo with a nice view & easy to get to. Lots of large tables for groups and a nice big outside deck. Aprés menu was ok, it has huge servings that are perfect to share. Drinks are expensive though, $13 for a schooner of mass market beer is ridiculous. Overall it's a pretty solid choice to meet after a big day.

  • 5/5 Prabs U. 1 year ago on Google
Ample seating and a good selection of pub food. Make sure to check the menu as the Manu changes from breakfast to lunch to dinner quite quickly within the day. You also get a good view of the chair lift so that's a plus. Parking is a bit of a hassle during peak periods so be ready to park and walk about 10-15 mins. Apart from that great location and decent pricing (approx 20-30 bucks a head)

Best pub in Thredbo, Ok it is the only pub in Thredbo. It has all the things to make it a pub, Beer, pub style food, games, pool table and sadly a pokie room. Fire place is nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. The outside deck is a great place to watch the fireworks as the snow falls around you.

This was the only place open to eat on a Wednesday night. A little hard to find in the village, however, conveniently located next to Alpine hotel. Very surprised to find a Plant Based Schnitzel here. Ordered this and tasted pretty great, however, a tad expensive. Friendly service and good vibe. Will gladly return here in future.

3.5 stars for the Thredbo Pub; or, if you're just there for a few beers, bump that up to 4 stars plus. It's been consistently at that level during the 25 or so years I've been visiting. (Usually several times during the walking season, never during ski season.) Let's get the food out of the way first. It ranges from OK to barely OK (occasionally *very* OK, but you pays your money and you takes your chances). All at mountain resort prices. Still, it's the least expensive way in Thredbo to have a meal out and/or stop your kids mewling for chippies. The venue's pleasingly rustic with many outdoor tables and a view to kill for. It couldn't be more conveniently located. And the prices for drinks are almost surely the best in the village. After a walk or before dinner, it's a great place to stop and soak up the atmosphere. A very welcome pool table and darts mean you can have fun without hitting the bar. Staffing is inevitably susceptible to resort / seasonal help. I find them usually friendly and helpful, but when it starts getting ugly-busy then . . . well, we all understand. In sum, The Local Pub is a Thredbo institution that deserves your business - but if you're after fine dining, maybe just have a few cool ones here first and then go on to Berntis. Pro tip: the local ravens patrolling the deck will talk to you, if you speak to them politely. ============== Missy The Cat Star Ratings: 5 - a place of rare genius that merits repeated return visits 4 - a strong effort with no major shortcomings 3 - a solid, worthy effort with perhaps one important thing to fix 2 - several important things wrong, but at least one important thing right 1 - can't be given a zero, doesn't deserve a dollar (as of review date)

Amazing food on top of the mountains. Feels nice to have the hot food.

Ordered a fish and it was undercooked severely. Sent it back and they made an alright one. Cashier was sick, sniffly nose and sneezing, pretty bad seeing as she handles food. Overpriced and would not recommend, however there are not many places open on a Monday night so what can you do. Food just lacked flavour and was not cooked with love

I asked a local for the best burger and beer joint in town and he showed me this place. The cheeseburger is collosal with everything, including onion rings, on it. I’m not a big beer drinker, but as an overseas visitor, I felt obliged to try some Aussie beer. The Kosciuszko pale ale was pleasant, with a touch of sweetness. The Carlton Draught was a typical lager. There’s an outdoor deck with bench tables, and seating inside along with a pool table and two dart boards. Plenty of TVs tuned to a variety of sports. The atmosphere is standard for a sports bar.

  • 5/5 Chris H. 5 months ago on Google
A pub, with pool table, tv screens with sports playing, and pub fare. Your can put your tab on your room if you're at the Alpine hotel, too.

Nice place to have a drink after a day hiking. The staff are super nice and the food is good, filling pub grub. I come here everytime I visit Thredbo. Thumbs up! Ps pic is the fried chicken burger. So good I practically inhaled it!

This is a cosy place to visit after a day out, a little rough around the edges. The menu is typical pub grub. Meals are big and hearty. We had the roast beef. The slabs of beef were huge, but a little tough. The roast vegetables were nice. The potato and bacon soup was very good. We were outside of ski season, but it still had quite a few people in the place when we were there. The staff were very friendly. They have pool tables, video games and pokies. Kid friendly too, I.e. high chairs and kids meals available.

Had "The local" schnitty (it comes with bacon! Crispy, freshly made, hit the spot! Soooo yummyyyy) and a glass of la la land rose. Pub food at its very best ??☃️??☃️??

I have only just arrived here to live and the staff gave me a locals discount which was very kind. I am reluctant to report the customer service was average, the glass I received was very dirty. I went to the bar to let them know and the young girl who took my glass was very rude, she hid the glass in the dishwasher. I insisted for my drink to be refilled, which she offered as free when management walked pass only. To my dismay, the bar manager on duty was very rude, I reacted badly, then I left as you could imagine. In short, it's the only 'pub' so deal with the bad service. The condiments are generous and the bar staff and management need training.

I wouldn't recommend this pub! We went there for dinner and watch the footy and we had the worst experience! We ordered Burrito Bowl and it had a tiny bit of brown rice and filling with a cold and dried chicken breast fillet. Terrible food and rude staff. Never again

Is it even a trip to thredbo with out their chicken parma. The staff were lovely and the meal was great as always. Bit over priced but part of the experience. The Sunday roast was pretty good too!

Lovely friendly service. First night - The steak was absolutely amazing the best I have had in a long time, garlic bread roll was dry and come with dinner instead of as an entre. Second night - Unfortunately there was an issue with the gas so meal choices were limited, nachos were ok, garlic loaf much better. Appreciated kitchen being open even with gas issues.

Agree with previous comments. Pie was so bland, had to be covered in salt and pepper and over priced at 26 bucks. Bar staff were more interested in not servicing customers than doing so too.

They have a good view BUT the buffalo wings they served us was spoiled and they coat it with its sauce and flour to disguise the smell. At first, it smells good but when we bite, the rotten smell of the chicken lingers in our mouth and nose. The supervisor told us the reason why it has bad smell because of mustard. I love cooking and i like mustard and i know how mustard smells like. She does not give other option but to consume the wings or order food that has the same price or lesser. This is because for sure, we are asians. They dont value their costumer.

Dont waste your time eating here. You are better off going to Woolworths in Jindabyne and buying yourself a microwave dinner. The tables are so sticky you have to peel your utensils off the indoor tables, the food is shocking and the staff couldn't care less about customer service.

Very nice environment, pool tables, wooden roof, nice fireplace, me and my family loved it! It's good for kids, service very friendly. We had the soup of the day, cream and mushrooms, delicious!!

👍👍 In all of Thredbo this was our favourite! The staff were more than brilliant the guy with the hair bun, he was the best we tipped him and he was at our table as soon as we needed something. He was probably the nicest person we met the whole time we were there. The service was 10/10
