One of the 108 Shiva temples mentioned in the Shivalaya Stothram. The dieties are Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvathy, Lord Vigneshwara, Ayyappa and Sree Narayana and the Naga/ snake Gods. Pradhosha pooja and Ayilya pooja are the important rituals attended by many devotees every month. An interesting belief is that if a garland made of lemon is offered to Lord Vigneshwara on a persons birth star for 7 months, that persons marriage will be fixed, within that period.

Om Namah Shivaya!! The divine peace one gets from His abode! Poonkunnam Shiva temple is one of the oldest temples in Kerala. Such calmness amidst the city buzz. A small well maintained garden (കൃഷ്ണൻ്റെ പൂങ്കാവനം) & varieties of large trees, stone paved paths add much to the divine atmosphere. This temple is located in the heart of Poonkunnam. There's a large ground in front of this temple.

One of the traditional temple in thrissur.it is situated in the junction itself. Auto stand, bus stop all are nearby. Atms, supermarket every thing is in between 100 meters of distance. A large ground is located infrond of the temple. Peaceful place. Parking is available. You can see traditional style all over

It's an old and popular Shiva Temple, situated very close to Punkunnam Junction, one of the busiest and crowded location in town. Numerous people visit the temple daily, majority being the regular locals. The dieties are Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvathy, Lord Vigneshwara, Ayyappa and Sree Narayana. And Nagas (snake Gods) too. Pradhosha pooja and Ayilya pooja are the important rituals attended by many devotees every month. Mahashivaratri is celebrated in a grand scale every year. An interesting belief is that if a garland made of lemon is offered to Lord Vigneshwara on a person's birth star, for 7 months, that person's marriage will be fixed, within that period.

Punkunnam Shiva Temple, located in Punkunnam in Thrissur of Kerala. This temple is a classic example of the Kerala style of architecture. The main deity is Shiva. Parvathy, Ganapathy, Sastha, Nagaraja and Partha Sarathi (Lord Krishna as Charioteer to Arjuna-പാര്‍ത്ഥ സാരഥി) are other sub deities(ഉപദേവത). The Ganeshotsavam is celebrating in grand style. During Sabarimala season the pilgrims are given food free of cost. Near to it is the Poonkunnam Seetha Ramaswamy Temple
