Sehr schöner Dom in Erfurt!

This thing is huge!! Unfortunately, it was already closed when we visit the cathedral, but we had the chance to walk around. One can get a pretty decent view of the Domplatz!

Erfurt Cathedral is impressive. Its architecture is very detailed which attracts a lot of attention. its interiors are very spacious and inside it is very quiet and dark. For me, the most impressive thing was the organ, it was gigantic. I highly recommend your visit, as it is fascinating to get to know this ancient cathedral.

Amazing cathedral, very much worth the trek up the stairs. When I visited I was also lucky enough to experience a choir sing in there as well. Was magical!

A truly amazing and impressive architecture of the early Middle Ages is the Marien Dom of city Erfurt in central Germany / county Thüringen. In that huge cathedral you will find the biggest swinging church ⛪️ bell 🔔 of the WORLD 🌍! The building was built already in the 8.century a.d. Having a sightseeing of the old town brings you visually back into the Middle Ages.

A magnificent architectural wonder in my opinion. You cannot help feel insignificant in the vicinity of this architectural behemoth. Right outside the entrance on the blackish stairs, you can find a stall to pit in coins and imprint on it the engraving and for the Cathedral. It will cost a euro, but you can have this as a souvenir. The church and the Cathedral are quite close to each other. The insides were a little too dimly lit but it's spectacular from the outside.

Cathedral of St. Mary The Gothic cathedral, which combines the choir of the heyday of the Gothic era and Romanesque tower buildings, stands on the site of the episcopal church built under St. Boniface in 742. In the tower above the crossroads of the cathedral hangs a large Gloriosa bell - the world's largest medieval bell, which is still used for its intended purpose. The play of light filtering through the vibrant glass created an ethereal atmosphere, further enhancing the cathedral's spiritual essence. One of the most captivating features of Erfurt Cathedral is its remarkable collection of art and artifacts. From the renowned Volto Santo, an ancient wooden sculpture of Christ, to the intricately designed altar, each piece tells a story and adds to the rich tapestry of the cathedral's history. In conclusion, Erfurt Cathedral is an extraordinary example of Gothic architecture, steeped in history and adorned with stunning artistic details. Beautiful, peaceful. The central cathedral of Erfurt is a marvel of medieval architecture. It sits majestically atop a long flight of stairs, displaying fluted pillars and flanks. The interior is lovingly maintained, and the beautiful windows permit the main hall to be flooded with sunlight. Most impressive is the choir, which is crafted entirely of carved wood. First and foremost, this is a place of contemplation and meditation. A home to prayer. I'm told, it is also a place of life and celebration, a structure where people meet.

The most beautiful and the main catholic church in Erfurt city. Has a blend of Roman and gothic architecture with huge ceilings and pretty glass paintings all over.

We can hardly believe that the whole area has been blocked for a theater festival for a month, therefore there is practically no way to the the Dom accessible to tourists except the back door. Absolutely no way to take photos.

A very beautiful church with nice stained glass windows. It’s up a long flight of stairs, and I am not sure if there are accessible ways to get up to the church
