This place is INCREDIBLE!!!!! There are very few of of these family run restaurants left, and certainly none that match the magnificence of Banning's. Everything is homemade, from their cakes to their chicken pot pie to their meatloaf to their towering cakes and rich pies. We were blown away with their delicious cooking. We had their meatloaf platter and their chicken pot pie. I have never tasted a better crust or filling than Banning's pot pie! And the meatloaf was so well seasoned and flavorful. AMAZING FOOD! We ended with slices of their phenomenal made-from-scratch Berry Poppyseed Cake and their Carrot Cake. So moist, rich, and unique. Highly recommended. The menu selection and service were top notch. Be sure to arrive early as they are very popular and seats fill up fast. If you're ever looking for a one-of-a-kind meal, Banning's is the place. Bravo to the family and staff of Banning's for providing such excellent food! We will definitely be back!!

I miss the days of a 24/7 Banning's, since it was Portland's best (cleanest at the least) all-night haunt, but it is still great. They have a delicious selection of sweet desserts and most excellent classic diner food. The prices are a little high, but the portions are large, and it is always a good meal here. I adore Banning's!

First time here, and it's definitely worth it. Their chilaquiles was the bomb, and I wouldn't hesitate to get it again. Friendly staff, quick service, and a very nice place to eat. Definitely recommend giving them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Get the peach pie. You won't regret it! Indulging in the homemade peach pie at Banning's Restaurant and Pie House was akin to savoring a slice of pure summer enchantment. This delectable masterpiece took our taste buds on a journey through orchard-kissed fields, with each bite delivering a symphony of flavors that could only be conjured by the magic of ripe, sun-soaked peaches. It's as if the peaches were cradled in the tender embrace of the restaurant's staff, whispering secrets of sweetness until they surrendered to succulent perfection. Encased in a crispy crust that's a testament to the art of pastry perfection, this pie is a harmonious marriage of nature's bounty and culinary craftsmanship. It's a slice of paradise on a plate, where every mouthful tells the story of care, dedication, and a dash of enchantment that sets Banning's peach pie leagues apart.

We really liked their food. I had their Buttermilk Chicken N' Biscuits. My wife had Country Fried Steak & Eggs. I see by the menu picture they don't put much gravy on. We like gravy, so we ordered extra gravy. The country fried steak was extra thick and I got two pieces of chicken. We could only eat half. They are family owned.

After a day at the Portland Zoo, we were looking for some good food—homestyle food since we’re from Texas. Also wanted to be able to sit down and have someone wait on us and take our order. Decided to try Banning’s and are we glad we did! All the food was fresh and tasty, and the service was excellent. Large portions, good flavor. We ate outside. And then we got chocolate cream pie! Hard to choose from their huge list of pies. Soooo good!

01/22/24: Tried their taco salad and that was filling! Husband had the pot roast and it was very tender and flavorful. I ordered Jenns Buttermilk Chick'n N Waffles and it was better than expected. Chicken breast was very moist and the batter gave it enough crunchyness. I was surprised with the portion size too! Will definitely be back to try other dinner items. Custard pie was okay but very chunky.

My wife and I had never heard of Banning's, but we decided to drop in and give it a try. We were not disappointed. My wife ordered a sandwich/soup/pie combo, and I ordered stuffed hashbrowns smothered in country gravy. The food was amazing. Service was very good, and the atmosphere was good. I will be back.

A friend brought me here while I'm visiting from Illinois. An old style building that reminds you of a mom and pop establishment. The food was excellent and lots of it, you will take some home with you. The deserts will blow your mind. I had a slice of strawberry pie that was the best I've had in a very long time. Totally worth the money. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Update 7/25/22: back again with another friend. This time I had a taco salad that was so loaded with meat that I had to take 1/2 of it home. Also tried the Marion berry and poppyseed cake that just melted in your mouth, it was that delicious! I hope to come back at least once more before I leave for Illinois.

Reminds me of Sharis but bigger portions, home made and authentic. I highly recommend the Chicken Pot pie and French toast. The mimosas are also a huge hit. It’s about 5-6.00 and it’s a big portion. Staff was very professional and the environment was clean. Definitely going back to use that gorgeous outside patio area.

Great place for some cheap good eats. The amount of food is plentyful and the atmosphere is that of the old 70's vibe feel. Spacious with patio. Very accommodating. Lots of parking all around the restaurant. The food is not greasy at all. The hash we're still crispy and flavorful. The fresh pies looked great but we were too full to have a slice.

Great food when the cooks are on. We have had rough food a couple of meals out of the times we have gone. It really comes down to the cooks on. Mornings are a good time to come. Very kid friendly and Gluten friendly on some items. Wish there was more. Had poor service when coming an hour before close, other than that we have generally had good service. Love the chocolate cake!

First time visiting Bannings and it's definitely a place to stop by for home-style all American food. I had the fried chicken which was really good! It was a little greasy for my personal taste, but that didn't stop me from eating the whole thing. The potatoes are buttery and delicious. The service was exceptional. I'm pleased with my experience here! I'll be back for more!

Home-cooked meals without all the work. Staff was friendly and quick service. Steak was cooked perfectly. Steak tips had a great sauce. The chicken marsala was delicious. Kids meals were good sized portions. The desserts looked amazing, but we didn't have room to try them.

Unplanned trip to Beaverton in the evening for Soccer. Looked for food near me, and this place came up. Wasn't expecting much, but did not made from scratch. Turns out - the food was great! Absolutely made from scratch, reminds me of our family dinners together on holidays. Service was polite and prompt, and the quality of the food was legit.

Banning’s is a traditional American cuisine diner. My pops and I went there, he chose the restaurant. I ordered the meatloaf and he had the chicken pot pie. The entrees came with a side salad. The salad had peas in it which I hadn’t seen before in a simple salad. The salad was fresh. My meatloaf had good flavor and I enjoyed it. My dad said his pot pie was dry and the puff pastry was overcooked. The clientele was 90% over the age of 60 the day we went and the place was packed at 4:30 in the afternoon. The place was recently renovated and clean. Service was prompt and attentive. The staff were very friendly.

I thoroughly enjoy the chilaquiles with braised beef which is very tender. The chips are good mixture of crispy chips and chips softened with the salsa verde. There are many other tasty breakfast options like the eggs Benedict. We were lucky to get seated right away in a booth by the pie and cake carousel. I ended up ordering Lemon Meringue pie because all of the cake and pie options, rotating in front of me looked too delicious. I was not disappointed. It went well with my coffee that was refilled as it went down. Our server was efficient and friendly. I will continue to make this one of my breakfast stops.

The service is always great, and the food is delicious. I've been coming to this place for years, I usually come for brunch, but their dinner menu is great as well! Definitely comfort food, but it's also amazing for a quick bite.

I bought a Marionberry and Poppyseed cake for my Mother-in-laws birthday, and it was absolutely delicious!!! She said it was the best cake she had ever eaten! Everyone loved it! Definitely worth the $42.

Visiting from out of town. Would rate the food about a 4.3. The apple pie was pretty dang good and we had it cold. Can imagine how good it would be warmed up with ice cream. Service was fast and everything was cooked well. Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly. Prices were affordable. Would definitely come back if I’m in the area again.

It's a typical diner. It's everything you'd expect but it was really well executed. Chilaquiles ⭐⭐⭐✨ - I really loved this but as is, I'd say it's a 3.5 stars - it would be a 5 stars if the toppings were separated, it got really soggy - the flavors were excellent though Chicken pot pie ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - adored this. Would for sure order this again - perfectly crispy, flakey and creamy Mimosa ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - somehow the best mimosa I've had

This place is great for pies. I've had a few of their pies and have been impressed with them. My current favorite is the strawberry pie. It's literally packed with a mound of strawberries. It's simple but delicious.

The word "yummy" came out of my mouth several times while eating my meal! I ordered country fried steak with over medium eggs and sourdough toast. The steak was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. We ordered the pumpkin buttermilk pancakes, interesting!! I liked them a lot, the pumpkin wasn't overwhelming and the fluffiness was all right.
