Lovely meals tonight. One pan roasted fish with seasonal veg, and one battered fish, fries and salad. Both beautifully cooked and very tasty. Great service too!

Disappointing. I ordered a fried breakfast that came out very...unfried. I asked to have the bacon recooked and what I got back was my sausage, bacon and already deep fried hash browns, all thrown in the deep fryer. Needless to say the hashbrowns were inedible, tasting like oil, the bacon like solid curls of pork sadness. The sausage was ok I guess. As you can see the tomato was better. But the cherry on top was the front of house attitude which was really the decider that we won't eat here again. The young waitresses who saw both plates, were lovely. Photos attached.

It looked all right when we got it (berry waffles and the big bay hill). However, my cream was very curdled and/or over mixed. I don’t think it was off but it was very unappetising. Soon after we left we realised with the big breakfast we did not receive the eggs with it, they had even asked how we’d like them. The big breakfast was quite dry as well

Staff seemed put out that I was dining by myself. Meal was put on the table without a word. Ordered the streak sandwich which said it came on fresh bread- came on a stale burger bun. Steak was stringy and tough, single tiny slice of tomato and hardly any sauce. Onion relish was extremely sweet. Very overpriced at $25 with poor service

Arrived in Timaru today for a 3-day vacation. This restaurant was close to my motel so I had my dinner here. Steak was okay, average at best. The salad that came with the steak was pathetic. Although everything else is still okay! I enjoyed my food and the beer!

I had a crispy squid and that's was so good. I feel I need to go timaru again soon for my squid meal. And I came to timaru again for crispy squid but menu has been changed. Squid was ok but can't beat crispy squid and squid is snack menu

Had a great time with family at the BayHill Bar! It was an impromptu stop and it was a great choice. The sliders and chips were really yummy and the ice chocolate was amazing. Definitely worth a stop in Timaru for. 5 stars⭐

On a cold and wet winters day we stopped in for food and refreshments and immediately warmed up. Heaters were on and place was busy, a good sign. We had seafood chowder and vegetable soup both with garlic bread which was the only let down. Soup was tasty and chowder was full of fresh seafood. Staff were friendly and toilets were clean and modern. Would def visit again.

On holiday with my wife, we decided to go to Bay Hill for dinner, we walked in and a young lady approached us, she was pleasant and professional and managed to find a seat for us in a full restaurant. Ordered our drinks and dinner and while waiting for this to arrive a bottle of water was given to us and of course we just had to have one of these bottles for ourselves, the server spoke to the duty manager (Lisa) and she managed to find one for us. The food was amazing, the service was too, would definitely recommend and if we ever visit Timaru again we will certainly be going there again.

Spent a few nights in Timaru for work. Had dinner here one night with a few colleagues. For NZ, food was good value and nice portions. Desserts were fantastic. Staff were attentive and friendly. If ever I pass through the area, I'll be back for sure!

Comfortable place. Nice feel. Basic kiwi bar food lacking in imagination and execution. Limp salad. Lettuce with brown edges that you would NEVER serve at home showed a bit of laziness and lack of care. Usually best kept refrigerated but left out in hot kitchen. Seafood chowder the thickest ever which was a bit unpleasant. Seafood chowder - normally you would find some pieces of fish.....not this one on this night. It is a more and more common theme I feel to charge $35 for a dish prepared by a 'chef' that is not as good as you would do at home. Mind you, each to their own. Some people think McD is great. At least didn't have to clean up so that was a plus. To be fair, fairly much what we expected. The next night we tried the Indian place next door....yup that is food!

The food was just very average pub food without much flavour or imagination. The guy serving us knew nothing about any of the food. When asked about the type of fish was on the menu, his response was, "I don't know, I'm not much of a fish guy". As funny as this seemed to him it was not that helpful to a paying customer. Nice location but not worth the prices for average food considering the incredible quality not far away at Customs House.

Had the Bay Hill Chicken Curry, not only was it delicious, but it had the biggest chunks of chicken I've ever seen ! Imagine 1/2 doz ping pong ball sized pieces in a nice spicy curry 🍛 Pretty quiet on the afternoon we visited, but staff were attentive and prompt but not overly so.

Breakfast was great, decent portion sizes. Only one little negative the omelet came with a toast added option gor $4, it was one sandwich slice of bread toasted, however we were not charged for this in the end. Lovely team of staff

Delicious food and generous portions. I can’t fault them. From excellent service from the staff to the unforgettable food, a small town bar provided a high quality restaurant experience. We were delighted with our choice. Try the aged rib eye fillet or the scallops rolled on bacon and add their crunchy chips. Amazing!

A nice afternoon in Timaru. Listen to music at the sound shell pop up to the Bayhill brewery bar Enjoy a couple of pints with old friends you bump into and then enjoy a most tasty meal from the excellent menu. Top table service, reasonably priced excellent value for money. Sorry can't provide a pic of the meal we scoffed in it down as it looked to tasty.

Service was exceptional and accommodated for us even though it was very busy. Great atmosphere. Ordered the scotch medium rare but received very rare and wasn't very good quality. Pretty disappointing but everything else that was ordered was great. I suppose it was because it was busy but nonetheless very nice place. Service 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Food 3/5

Have dined here a few times now & each time the service was good, didn't have to wait long for the meals. Food is excellent highly recommend this venue

Went here Sunday 23rd October for lunch. Was busy but we got drinks and food in a short amount of time. Service was great, we all commented on it. Food was really good and priced well. Lovely spot with a great view. Will definitely return next time we are in Timaru

Nice beer, but it's pub food and not cheap. About $25 for a pulled beef burger, $34 for a ribeye steak, $14 for five slices of garlic bread. The chef's good and knows meat, and the difference between medium and well-done. The chef doesn't char the meat (thus avoids ruining the taste of the meat). The service is also good and the restaurant was packed (full) in the middle of the week. I don't have any negatives against this restaurant (apart of it being a bit more pricy).
