13 Jan 2023 (yup, it's Friday the 13th) - I was looking for a place to eat breakfast 🍳 but don't want to go too far from Trust Aoraki Athletic Park 🏞. Found this place on Google Maps and decided to give it a go. I couldn't find this place on my first try but saw it when I drive around New World Supermarket. The main entrance is from the carpark area accessible from Chalmers Street. Well, the breakfast was good. I've ordered a mango smoothie, a large latte, eggs Benedict ($18.50) and Berries & Cream waffle ($14). The Latte ☕ is good; no burnt taste in my frothed milk and the eggs 🥚 were runny (check out my video showing the runny egg yolk). The bacon 🥓was cooked to my liking, and the sauces were delish. My kiddo's mango smoothie was really good and will definitely get it when we come back again. As for the waffle, it is very sour because of the berries, and the cream couldn't cancel out the sourness (oh well, kiddo didn't enjoy it much 😅) Good portion sizes. This is a child-friendly cafe. This is a non licensed (🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺) eatery. There is a very limited outdoor dining area. There is plenty of onsite parking 🅿. They accept cash, EFTPOS with debit and credit card payments (Paywave is available, for those who want to know especially those using phones or smart watches to pay like me 😁). Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. It was delish and yummy 😋. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Cosy. Nothing fancy like Starbucks. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonably priced. Customer service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Friendly and attentive staff. If unsure what to eat, ask the staff or the chef to recommend you. Would I go back? Ā definite YES 😊 Disclaimer: Please note that this review is entirely based on my experience at the time of the visit. You might have a different experience than me and also, the food may or may not suit your taste.

I enjoy the food here, we are loyal customers but I have always found less than poor customer service here especially from one older lady. I had already ordered a small coffee when I realised I had gathered up enough stamps on my loyalty card for a free coffee, I asked if I could have any size coffee and she told me it’s the size you usually pay for, I thought okay well I’ll get a regular then as many of the stamps on here are from regular sized drinks at the very least. She then proceeded to argue with me about what size I usually get, repeating to me that I can get a small like I was stupid. It was a 50 cent upgrade for gods sake just serve me the regular coffee? I repeated I’d like a regular, she proceeded to bring me a small coffee to my table.

Fab breakfast, no bells or whistles, but good honest food, only suggestion would be to use better quality, thicker bread for toast, staff friendly and attentive

Great place to visit but I was surprised at the cost of a scone and a coffee. It was a bit cold. Staff very friendly.

Very rude obnoxious staff. ALL DAY menu but only half a day, but staff extremely rude when letting us know the menu isn’t actually all day.

Didn't eat coz we came across extremely rude staff. Mainly the younger staff. Eye rolls & snarky comments every time we asked a question so we just left as they killed our appetites

The menu posted is out of date.. prices have increased. The eggs on toast were nice. The coffee terrible - possibly the machine needs a clean. I wasn't asked if I enjoyed it so didn't say. Busy wee place so obviously popular within the area.

Highly recommend!! Best coffee in all of Timaru. Visited Timaru recently for a week long conference. Was cheerily welcomed everyday and delicious coffee helped me wake up every morning. 🥰☕️

Love the chips!!! Never old oil and well salted, I visit twice a week and wouldn't order anything else! Can be a bit cold inside on winter days and I'm not sure how I feel about putting a blanket on me, turn up the heat!

Friendly staff. Good food, many 5$ breakfast options: banana & bacon pancakes; bacon, eggs & potatoes; muesli, berry & yogourt... Best taste/value option in town. My favorite breakfast place in Timaru for sure.

Good variety is seating areas. In and outside. Mainly elderly people. Good good. Belgium biscuit was dry and too big. Friendly staff.

These stars are for the young man who was very diligent, methodical, & fast, in doing his job of clearing away the cups, plates, glasses & cutlery that the customers had used. @ The Village Cafe 18/6/22. I was amazed at how tidy he also was as he carefully set out the used item on two trays. He had a place for everything, and everything went in the right places.

We went here for a late lunch on Saturday (21/5). Group of 4 spent $80. Normally I would rave about this cafe, but not on this occasion. The blonde woman on the coffee machine was extremely rude and opinionated too us twice. Even though no question was directed to her. This woman should be put out the back where she can be seen and not heard. Such a shame to have staff like this, especially when the hospitality business is struggling
