A really nice and informative museum about the struggles this country had, with a brief history since the Portuguese colonization through very detailed information of the Indonesian occupation and the Timorese uprisings against it. It is a very small museum, so you wouldn’t need more than two hours there. 1$ entry fee. Definitely worth it, it’s good to know the history of this special nation.

Good museum. Definitely worth, especially when you only have one day in Dili and wanna know Timor Leste's history. Usually i don't read much text in museums but here the history from 1975 till today is written down, so it takes around an hour to get around. Some TV screens and Fotos. Very welcoming staff.

A must-visit place to understand the modern history of Timor-Leste. Sad to know they were invaded again on the brink independence 50 years ago.

They closed today and people outside say it won't open until Nov. 7 Better update this on Google map in case tourists come in a hot day but in vain.

A small museum that explains a brief history of Timor Leste. It's very informative and a little confronting. I think it's important when visiting a country to try to learn a bit of their history.

To understand recent history of Timor with original documents. A deep dive into powerfull photos and video. Some parts, like the Xanana jungle room, are kind of realistic reconstitutions, Indonesian standing jail, and a lot of item offer also a time travel to recent design history, like old talky-walky, weapons, and revolution gears.

You can learn the history of Timor-Leste in this museum. The museum is meant to give the whole picture of Timorese resistance in defending their existence and independence since WWII. This museum is lack of artefacts and exhibits. The history is displayed on huge wall infograph and some video footage, in Tetun, English, and Portuguese.

A well set out and maintained facility explaining the history of Timor Leste - but ‘history’ is limited, like most other museums in TL, to colonial invasions and the fight for independence. While this is obviously a very important aspect to them - it would be great to have a facility showing the huge range of rich cultural and natural history of the country, such as the various hill tribes and varying lifestyles of the TL community.

Was interested as a historian in the archives. As you would expect in a new country, the archives are electronic rather than documental and are well organised. The Resistance Museum is very well presented and succeeds well in presenting the story of the resistance struggle.

This is a truly wonderful museum offering visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the rich history of Timor L'Este and specifically about the heroic efforts of Timorese to resist colonial rule and to achieve independence for this beautiful nation. A small suggestion to the museum directors -- instead of banning all photography inside the museum, why not simply ask visitors to refrain from using flash photography? I would have loved to share photos of your beautiful museum with friends and family.Thank you.

Really emotional exhibits! Entry price is $1. There are numerous display cases of actual clothing, weapons and accessories used during the war. Rare videos taken by media are played on loop throughout the museum showing actual footage of the fighting. There is a replica of an underground bunker used by one of the famed fighters who actually died from his own living conditions. It's so much larger and more detailed than I had imagined. I highly recommend it. No photography allowed inside the exhibits.

Simple exhibition founded on sets of photographs and some multimedia sources. Unfortunately, except some archival and rare photos, this is very wikipedia-esque collection of information about modern history of Timor Leste and its resistance movement. Nothing new for someone who is interested in the country's history. The best section comes when you almost finish your tour as there is a 1:1 model of shelter used by one of the leaders of the resistance movement. All in all, the experience should be more than enough for a casual tourist, but, as it was already mentioned, the english translation is positioned too low to read it without bending your body. The whole building is new and modern, one of the most representatives places in Dili. Next to the museum part you can visit a library/rading room.

A must see part of your stay in Dili. Heartbreaking and somewhat shameful with respect to foreign countries treatment of Timor-Leste, but uplifting the resilience and perseverance of the Timorese.
