The Baucau Pousada was lovely to stay at. We stayed in the new rooms and they were very comfortable and modern. The breakfast at the restaurant was yummy especially the pumpkin jam! The only thing to be aware of is that there is a karaoke bar (separate to the Pousada) behind the restaurant area that was quite loud late at night.

Not many choices here, but this hotel would be considered excellent in any city around the world. There are two different buildings with rooms. I stayed in the newer one for 6 days and it was fantastic. The room has great AC, a comfortable bed and an amazing bathroom. The bathroom has a rain fall shower with excellent hot water. The grounds have a restaurant on the premed is. The money has a lot to choose from. Prices are fair, expensive for the area though. (Still cheap though). They have beer. Be warned, service is slow. But all places here are. There is a conference room you can reserve. WiFi is not free here. But we got SIM cards for our phones for 2 weeks for $13. Unlimited data. It’s super easy! There is a monkey exhibit at the hotel.

A beautiful colonial building and the best place to stay in Baucau although on the expensive side. Rooms are comfortable and come with a private balcony. The signs of time are visible but the hotel is nevertheless well kept. Staff speaks good English and Portuguese. Breakfast is included in the room rate and is ok (eggs your style, juice, bread, cheese / jam, cake, coffee / tea). The only thing that put us off was the caged monkeys in the garden, next to the restaurant.

I have stayed in the pousada for a relatively long time. I stayed in both the standard and the premium rooms. I think that the standard rooms need some improvement but the premium room was perfect so I highly recommend staying there. There is a Karaoke bar which is not part of the Pousada that stays sometimes very late at night, however from the premium room the noise can’t be heard unlike the standard room where I suffered some nights from the noise. The restaurant was the place of my dinner almost every day and I tried different menus and plates and all were honestly delicious and well made. It is a bit expensive for the timor leste standards but the food was of good taste and quality. The staff was very nice and helpful and I spent a great time there.

Amazing place to stay. Such beautiful surrounds with amazing gardens and a monkey enclosure. Rooms are spacious with AC, shower and comfortable beds. The buffet Dinner we had was just amazing and delicious.

A flawless experience at the Pousada. The rooms, the design and architecture of the place are simply gorgeous and a pleasure to walk around and explore. Lovely gardens and a great dining hall, serving very good meals, mostly with a Portuguese influence. The only sad thing is the caged monkeys here ~ please release them!

Enjoy the beautiful building and the wonderful staff. Breakfast is included in your room fee and make sure to ask for the pumpkin butter for your bread. Pretty sure I ate about everything on the menu the several times I have been there. Great service staff. Just make to bring cash to pay for food and drinks.

I just stopped here to take a break on my way to Los Palos from Dili. The restaurant is very nice. Very hospitable staff. Breakfast price is reasonable for the bread, butter, cheese, omelet and coffee. They have a nice bar with good collection of scotch, wine, brandy and beer. The whole complex is nicely maintained. Also there is small library available. Not stayed in the rooms. Therefore, can't comment on those. But other reviewers praised the cleanliness, services and the tastes of food.

Go-to place for someone who wants a more "fancy" experience. Having dinner at Pousada de Baucau is a special moment to share with your loved ones. You can also go just for a coffee or tea with "bolinhos" during the day and enjoy their lovely outdoor space. Dishes are a little bit expensive comparing to other restaurants in Baucau, but it's worth it to pay for. The staff is wonderful and the restaurant is beautiful (both inside and outside spaces).

The Pousada is still living on its past glory rather than its current customer service. The grounds are a pleasant area to sit back. Bar looks like it hasn’t operated in quite a while, which is a real shame. Check-in was simple and pleasant enough. The older rooms were fine, however could have benefited from a small fan. Bed was comfortable. No coffee/tea making facilities in the room, lobby or restaurant. Food at the restaurant was average/good, but you can get the same standard for half the price at the local eateries. Restaurant staff just had no life or drive to them. All cash payments. No ATM/EFPOS.

New building is modern and affordable hotel. Room rate start from $80 per night. Conference room, restaurant and bar are available. Can consider your stay here if travel to Baocao District. Small township in the neighbourhood, should you consider to buy some groceries or eat out.

Expensive but pretty luxurious. The grounds and architecture are gorgeous and the rooms are comfy and cool. Location definitely can’t be beaten. We found heading out for meals to both be yummier and cheaper but the restaurant is beautiful. Confused by the caged monkeys, free my boys!

Beautiful old Portuguese building is the centrepiece of this excellent hotel. A new wing with top notch facilities. We stayed in a Superior room that was a little bit smaller than the Prestige room but $10 a night cheaper. Air conditioning with ensuite. Price included basic breakfast (fresh bread, cereal, eggs, coffee), wifi. Staying at the hotel also gives you free entry to the swimming pool just down the hill.

While knowing this is one of the better hotels in town, we didn't see many pictures until we got there. We had a very comfortable stay with good bed, shower and AC, especially after staying in a more remote guesthouse the night before in the mountain village. The restaurant serves Portuguese dishes as I could find Caldo Verde soup, Douro wine and chocolate mouse. The local Timorese coffee served during breakfast was earthy and chocolaty, which we got many refills. The hotel seems to be strict about wifi access as password expires in 12 hour after check-in. Glad that they granted a few more hours in the morning upon request since most of the hours went unused during the night. Restaurant requires one to pay cash after meals and doesn't allow us to charge it to our visa card during checkout, so keep that in mind.
