I had a lovely few days in Tirana here. I would call this a guesthouse rather than a hostel. There are rooms on the ground floor and apartments upstairs I believe. Run by a lovely family the room was spotlessly clean and had a great hot shower. Excellent location also within walking distance to explore the city

Terrible place. Showers don’t work if there’s more than one person in them. If there is more than one person then it is a few drops of water coming out. There’s no place to put things in the rooms, like shelves etc or just even flat surfaces so everything gets messy. The older woman who helps run the hostel just shouts and shouts at you, interrupting conversations and honestly making you want to leave. The breakfast was a fried egg and bread but the egg had been prepared at 8 am and then left on the side, so it was cold hard and like plastic. The elder woman made you pay literally immediately after entering the door, not even time to properly put your bags down etc. All the people there were lovely but it was just a weird environment. She wanted people to call her Momma, which just made me uncomfortable and a lot of other guests feel that way. I really don’t recommend this place. It was the weirdest place I’ve stayed in my life.

I stayed at Bujtina Shqiptare in August for four nights in total. Started my roundtrip through Albania from here and came back twice. Needed one extra night, as i was sick. Ferdinand didn‘t hesitate to give me the room. He was the perfect host, friendly and welcoming, he even called two days later and asked for my wellbeing. Some of the rooms are recently renovated and appear more like in a four star hotel, very modern with high quality furniture. The location is right in the city center, three minutes by foot from the main square. The price is more than fair. If I‘m ever coming back to Tirana, i definetly know where to stay!
