This is a Historical Railway Station, and the Most of the very budget Hotels and Luxury hotels Near than this Station. One famous landmark in Tiruchirapalli is the Rock Fort, a huge outcrop of rock of 83 metres high, which is the only outcrop in the otherwise flat land of the city. For this reason, the city is also called Rock City. On top of the rock is the Ucchi Pillayar Koil, a temple dedicated to the Indian God Vinayaka (Ganesha), from where one can enjoy a panoramic view of Tiruchirapalli. The temple was also used as a military fort by the Nayaks for some time. On the southern face of the rock are several beautifully carved cave temples of the Pallava period. On to the eastern side is Sri Nandrudayan Vinayakar Temple, with the powerful Lord Ganesha as the main deity. A big sized Ganesha and other rare deities can be seen in this temple, which hosts festivals every year during the Vinayaka Chathurthi ( birthday of the Lord) and many carnatic musicians and stalwarts have given musical concerts over 70 years in this famous shrine. Around the rock temple is a busy commercial region, specializing in textiles, known as Chatram.

If you do not have too much luggage and your train stops at Tiruchi Fort opt for it. There are only 3 platforms and about 11 trains stop here. We went there to see off someone by Mysore Express and found it a cool place. Neat and clean with clear signs displaying the coaches one can station oneself at the right spot and board the train quickly. While we waited the Karaikal Ernakulam passenger came in and trains always excite and this was not different. We stood near B1 our coach and had no problem boarding even if the halt time was just a minute. There are stalls selling essentials like drinking water, biscuits etc. I saw a wheel chair there and guessed that it would be of use to those in need of it. There are benches to sit around and timely announcements were made in three languages Tamil , English and Hindi. There are couple of autos available outside and the nearest Bus Stand is Chatram Bus stand. We booked an Ola Auto which cost us Rs.110 to Srirangam. While going from home to the station we took a Red Taxi which cost us Rs.150.The staff was helpful and though the mosquitoes were bothersome the atmosphere as a whole was good.

Very horrible station in the world. Doesn't deserve even a single star. All the counters are utilised for Tatkal. Iam 65 years old. I have been waiting for general ticket. The ticket issuing staff told that ticket will be issued after tatkal is over. Finall y they issued a ticket for general at 11.45 mercilessly. You can book ticket in all counters.but at the same time consider general ticket also.Otherwise allot one counter for unreserved tickets as in other stations like bangarpet..Donot kill senior citizen in the name of tatkal.Stupid people

Need to improve, secure back entrance, the inside area adjacent to the bridge must be clean, good road, lighting facilities. At the same time lack of lighting on main entrance, poor road, bad lighting need to be set right and bring facelift to this railway station.

Well and good place, easy to connect chatram bus stand, it may take 15 minutes of walk. Famous and ancient Church is there.

Trains coming from Mysore-Myladuthurai not stopping here in this Fort railway station so many like us have to travel till Trichirappalli railway station, and coming back to their respective local places and local autorickshaw is not operative due to localalites

The staffs were friendly. The public toilet was locked. When asked for, they have the key to the waiting hall along with clean restrooms... Station maintained clean.

Decently maintained. Most trains stopping at trichy junction will stop here, if you want to get to the city, this is the best stop. This is at the heart of the city, but you have to walk a little bit to get to the nearest bus stop as many roads are closed.

For the people who goes to the hotspot of Trichy should get down here.. There is a walkable distance between fort station and shopping street. It takes around five minutes to reach N.S.B road where you find all your shopping carts.

Because of " 5 " best places and their reasons LOL. 1) Vehicles parking facilities 2) Near FSM hyper and La cinemas 3) When I board by train I could easily purchase some things from FSM hyper 4) When I forgot my some snacks I wish I could bought on FSM hyper 5) Everyone's favorite CHAI near apart from this railway station.... We all could get those facilities..

I use to board here while going Mysore express train. Recent days they aren't powerup with LCD display for coach position information. It makes passenger inconvenience to find their coach position.

Elders and wheel chair bound can use this train station (provided your train stops here) instead of the Trichy main stations. The train we were boarding from Trichy main station was in a platform -2 & the escalators were being renovated (in Sep -2022) . Though a bigger group of persons boarded in trichy main station, me and my mom got in at TPJ (after confirming our train is going to stop in TPJ) . This is on our way back from srirangam temple. But no food option in this station - only snacks and coffee/tea
