From Chathiram Bus stand I took govt bus and reached there Around 10.30am. visited many shops for vegetables, groceries, house hold items, etc.. I came here to purchase pet birds and food items for birds. Seen many pet bird shops. Bought the cage accessories and food items. Drink sugarcane juice and lime soda. Saw many colourful fishes. Nice place. We can come along with whole family.

Land Mark of Trichy town. Every Sunday you can buy anything. Pin to Plain and Fish to Dog. All animals vegetables Non Vegterians you can buy it. Excellent place to show to your kids. You can come to know how our ancient people are done Business. Very Big Business happening on every Sunday.

UNBIASED REVIEW... Got motivated too visit this place after seeing you tube videos...How it went let's ?? Let's see....Planed to visit early and reached around 9 a.m morning...Remember important: the sandhai is opened only on SUNDAYS...And was searching where to park my car and finally found the parking slot near by and charged around rs10.. and took a small bag if needed to purchase...And was able to see more than 100 small shops .Among them are vegetables shops of all kind and non veg shops of most....The highlight is ornamental fish, tank and all accessories kind. Was able to spot eel fish. And birds shops of great varieties are also seen. Rooster sales are seen. Bunny and dog sales are also seen...Even seeds of vegetable and grow bags for terrace gardening also seen. To satisfy your thirst....Sugarcane juice and tender coconut also there....I used to buy most thing on super market or amazon online shopping...But seeing this sandai...Was attracted towards country style purchasing...And will be boost for local wenders and surprisingly cheap... Cons...I visited the sandai in nov 29...Sandai is not organized ...There was muddy area surrounding the shops due to rain...The roads are narrow...And there is over crowding taking your car in and out...Restroom facilities is there and well maintained is questionable one ?? All these are minor cons compared to the country style market...All these are rectified and properly built small outlets are given to the sellers it will be great help for them...Most importantly if you are free on sunday and need to go ...Choose this which will satisfy your wish if you are interested in side seeing...Purchasing eatables...The sandai is opened between 6 a.m to 6:30 p.m...Hence plan accordingly...The gov should take initiative to improve this sandai...Until then it's underrated... Experience can vary from person to person and time to time...Sorry for the lenghy review..Just to share my experience..

Went to buy buggies and veggies. Buggies price was okay only. You can get mostly all vegetables there. Market will be open every sunday, and you can buy pets, fruits, vegetables, plastic items, normal dresses like night dresses. It will be worthy to spend your time. Kids will really enjoy the place.

The entire market should be paved! I have grown up around that market and it still is muddy due to rains. If it is paved then the hawkers would benefit and love it. The entire market is an attraction for the surrounding peoples. Cheap and variegated. Puppies, parrots and fish. Kids would love it. Veggies of course! A weekly trip on Sunday is a must for those who know it’s existence. It’s a way off from the main Trichy town. But the entire Ponmalai area is kind of quaint spot. Visit it. You won’t forget it.
