The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology (MCBT) is a reptile zoo and herpetology research station, located 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of the city of Chennai, in state of Tamil Nadu, India. The centre is both a registered trust and a recognized zoo under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972and comes under the purview of the Central Zoo Authority, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. It was established with the aim of saving three Indian endangered species of crocodile—the marsh or mugger crocodile, the saltwater crocodile, and the gharial, which at the time of founding of the trust were all nearing extinction.

This is a famous attraction in Chennai. If you visit Chennai then you must try this place. Tickets are available in the entrance. Get the ticket and explore it. There are varieties of crocodile and birds available. There is also a special place for snakes. You can purchase juice and other drinks inside the premises. There is a place where you can find the history of these species. There are so many trees inside so we don't want to worry about the scorching sun.

Lovely place for children and adults alike. Helps know more about crocodiles, tortoises and snakes. There are some interesting additions like Komodo dragon, green iguana, star tortoise, giant tortoise, and a variety of crocodiles from around the world. There's even a feeding session and a nice informative talk about snakes, snake venom etc. And some great merchandise available. We picked up a fridge magnet, animal bookmarks and a sticker for the car... Definitely recommend a visit. Tip: Be there early in the morning by around 10.

Good to see kids. Now many of species has been moved to other places. When I came here few years back, around 400 to 500 species. Now only 100 crocodiles. Kids may enjoy to see such larger animals in very close view. Staffs are kind and explained very nicely. I appreciate the staffs.

One week ago I had a chance visit this magnificent place. Its like a zoo but specially for crocodiles. You can familiar with various species of crocodiles here. The live view was exciting feelings. Some Snakes, tortoises, lizards are also in there. Many types of birds make there nest here,as it is the safe place for them. Not much far from Chennai city. And it is just the side of the main road Chenni to Mahabolipuram. We had a short trip in weedend and very much enjoy this place.

Good place to spend an evening 2 hours of time. Ticket price is 100 ₹for adults and 50 ₹for kids above 3 years. Open till 5 PM. There is also a small snake extraction place, which has a separate counter. Water for Crocodile 🐊 are poorly maintained. There is a 3D VR place, the ticket price is 40₹. The movie is around 5 min, but its worth watching. Restrooms are there at exit, maintained ok. Parking for a two wheeler is 10₹.

Best place for Reptile Lovers!! One of the coolest zoo which is dedicated for crocodiles🐊 (there are many types you can see here) We were super thrilled to see such huge number of crocodiles at one place!! Also could sight various types of turtles & tortoises 🐢 Entry fee is 100₹ which we felt lil costly for this place ! (Hope it all goes into maintainance of these crocs)

Wonderful place to visit especially for kids who love animals. My only thought is that people should be a little responsible by not littering the place and a little more respectful to the animals by not making sounds to attract them. Other than that we can take our food and have a picnic among the trees and crocodiles.

The entry price was about hundred rupees for an adult. For that money was really well spent because this place offers lot of information about reptiles and crocodiles in particular. Very fun and educational for children and for reptile enthusiasts. Overall I would really recommend this to people who are want to relax and see crocs, lizards, tortoises and snakes.

A place where kids can see crocodile 🐊 and enjoy. It will be hot so go prepared. Even though I saw a lot of manpower, the water was not clean. You can go around the full place and spend Max of 1hr. Tortoise is also seen. Even though snakes are meant to be shown, hardly saw one. Entry fees for adults is Rs.100 and kids Rs.50 each. Only cash.

It’s one of the perfect weekend getaways for families with kids. You can see a lot of alligators at Crocodile Beach. Kids will have a great time at this place, as there are various alligators from across the world to see. It’s a beautiful place to witness all of them in one spot, and it’s thoughtfully arranged. This is the perfect weekend spot to visit with kids.

Good for kids. Very difficult to go around in summers. Battery operated cars will save time and energy. On a cloudy day, it is best - to spend the whole day. During summers better take the battery car , show the animals to your kids in 1 hour and get back. Worth visiting.

The park is exclusively kept for crocodiles and few rare reptiles. Best place to bring your kids . They will get a good knowledge on different types of crocodiles. The indian gharial is a endangered species. Which is kept in captivity . The migratory birds play a natural beauty to the place. The only flaw here is the excreta of the migratory birds are present everywhere. There is a special place which demonstrates the collection of venom from snakes. Different varieties of snakes are also maintained here.

Nice Crocodile Zoo with different species of crocodiles and alligators. The walls are not very high so visitors should maintain safety and keep kids away at safe distance as crocodiles can jump. There are caution signs everywhere for the same. There are many interesting facts displayed on the lifestyle of crocodiles.

If you are on the way of visiting Mahabalipuram, than this place must be on your iternary on the way. Especially both children and old will love this crocodile park. There are various species inside including crocodiles. Snakes, birds and other animals are also an added attraction here. Since it falls on the highway there is limited parking space and please check it. They strictly follow the park timings so be on time and don't come in a hurry. Was a good time spent here.

The place is a good tourist spot. But need renovation and maintenance to attract more tourists. The species available there are rare creatures and our appreciation to the sponsors and the management staffs. Please improve the look by replacing the damaged cages and by doing some touch up paintings on the grill.

The Caterpillar design of the park, which is a tube-like structure of 60-ft.-long and made of acrylic sheets, is said to be heat resistant. The location of the butterfly park inside the zoo campus is near Otteri, a water body that will help maintain the temperature suitable for the butterflies. The larval and adult host plants already are planted at this site, which is a landscaped habitat. The park will also have full-fledged nectar gardens, a walkway, breeding and rearing centres and rock gardens in due course. Now, here is another spot in Chennai, to take your guests during the holidays!

An amazing place near chennai for an outing during the day. A very good ambience and a great feel of nature. There are good tree shades even in the afternoon and a cool breeze all throughout the walk,All the trees have a lot of birds and their nest. Beware of the birds while you stay under it or else you may have to find pipe to clean your head and clothes 😅overall wort for a ₹100 Ticket + ₹30 Ticket for snake show.

Located in ECR a 40-50 minute drive from chennai city. Entry fee is Rs.100rs for adults and 50 for kids. Good place to spend some time of your weekend with your friends and family. They have different varities of crocodiles. You can see them so closely. Turtles and Tortoise also available. Adding to it they have a snake venom collection centre, if you want to see the process of it they charge 30rs additionally. There are around 200 different varieties of snacks placed inside a mud pot and covered. They will be taking out and showing you the process of it. The ticket for this will be charged inside the park. It will be be in the entry poin itself. Don't miss it since I personally feel it is more valuable than the 100 you spend for the crocodile park. Rest room is available. You have two snack centers one in the begining of the park and one inside the park. Parking they charge Rs.10 for bike and 20 for car. Roughly you can spend 1-1.5 hrs there. Monday is a holiday.

There's a large number of crocs here. Including a lot of information about them. There's also a VR documentary you can watch using VR headsets but i believe that's an additional cost. Overall, i thought the place would be bigger than it was but that's not a complaint by any means. We went here on a Saturday but it wasn't too crowded and there was no line at the ticket counter either. There are a few stalls for refreshments. There's sufficient parking spots available outside and also rickshaws parked there to take you back to your hotels. There's also an additional section inside with some snakes and snake handlers but since it wasn't in English, we couldn't understand what was happening. The crowd seemed pretty interested in what he had to say though.

Great experience! The animals are very well taken care of, the enclosures are large, clean and beautifully arranged to mimick the natural environment. Here you are able to see some very rare species and they also let you watch the venom harvesting from snakes such as spectacle cobra, krait and Russell's viper. A wonderful place to expose children to reptiles- their habitats, food and appearance. Had a detailed tour. Itcwas heartening to see that people have sponsored their upkeep.

Clean, organized animal sanctuary with helpful enthusiastic staff. Very good guide who gave us lots of time and he was knowledgeable and we enjoyed it. They did a crocodile feeding where we witnessed the crocodile eating an entire chicken. It's good for kids and lots to learn. They have certain timings for snake feedings too but unfortunately we were not able to witness that. Would go again Definitely don't miss this if you have kids.
