I'm from Cape Town and I "discovered" the restaurant in 2022 when I was in Potch for a weekend. I was so impressed I promised myself I would return when I'm in Potch again. Went there tonight... a year later, but I'm as impressed as I was originally. Highly recommended. The only negative aspect is the flying insects but very little can be done as the restaurant is situated next to water where many of the insects live. So I don't see it as a negative aspect in my review.

Fantistic vibe, delicious food, will definitely be coming back regularly. I highly recommend at least going once, their alcohol selection is diverse, and their food menu is wonderful.

The one star is for the atmosphere and view. I was really disappointed in my visit to River Cafe. The food tasted as though it had been heated up from yesterday. The pizza was stale and the burger had heated up frozen chicken strips for R90. The waitress was incredibly rude too. This was my second visit and I don’t think I’ll be in a hurry to eat there again. If you’re looking for a nice vibe to have a drink then yes, this place is perfect. But I wouldn’t go there hungry.

This is without a doubt one of my favourite places in Potchefstroom. You can eat, drink, socialise, contemplate, philosophise, go on a date, work, relax and truly enjoy yourself here. Food is moderately priced but you really do get more than what you pay for in terms of quality. 100% would recommend!

It is such a beautiful setting and a very peaceful atmosphere, the service was amazing and the food and drinks were good too. I enjoyed myself and would definitely recommend.

The food is amazing. The music is truly great. The view of the dam is very exquisite and calming. Just wish they could add some meat in their menu.

Beautiful location with delicious food - that mushrooms and brie pizza! Always have a great time! In summer time fireflies come out in the evening and you can hear frogs croaking. Lovely atmosphere

Lovely place to visit it has indoor seating and a deck where you see Potch dam, we receive very friendly sevice from the waitress. Would definitly go again!

This riverside restaurant offers a relaxing atmosphere. The menu features a diverse selection of dishes, and the options were particularly fresh and flavorful. Service was satisfactory, and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is relaxed, making it suitable for both casual outings and special occasions. Prices are reasonable for a riverside location, providing good value for the experience. While the outdoor seating is a highlight, indoor options could use a bit more attention to comfort. I'll definitely be returning for more of the scenic views and delicious cuisine.

Food was good, however it was unfortunately cold when it arrived.

Their pizza could just be the best I've had anywhere in South Africa. Try the Lamb pizza, with dried apricot and mint... delectable 👏🏻👏🏻

As student me & my wife and most of our friends would go to River Cafe on a regular basis to "dine and wine"! Coming back after so many years and experiencing the changes made to the venue, I must say, I am very impressed, and the venue and offerings are still one of the best in Potchefstroom. Affordable, clean, and I must when you're in the area.

This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts [Jassie] delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, wide beer list and wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

We always enjoy going to River Café for our pizza and wine nights! The atmosphere is great and the surroundings are beautiful! Friendly staff and their facilities is super clean!

This is a hidden gem in Potchefstroom. First time here and visiting from Cape Town, I couldn’t believe the atmosphere and the incredible variety of Belgian beer on the menu! The Pizza menu is also very unique and a must do when visiting Potch! Great experience!

The service was absolutely atrocious. I waited about 20 minutes for ice for my drink and our pizzas arrived at different intervals which made it awkward. Our waitress never checked in on us either and the others simply ignored us when we tried to catch their attention. I do not recommend. Very disappointing.

This Cafe is popular amongst students. The menu includes anything from Salads, Tapas, Pizzas, Rissoles, Burgers and Light meals. Wine by the glass on most of the wines on the menu as well as a comprehensive Gin menu. I can highly recommend this Cafe for a lazy afternoon with Wine and a Cheese platter or for a less complicated Belgium Beer and Pizza

I don’t come to Potch often to be honest, but damn when you do..... The alcohol selection is, in a word, extensive, and in the good way! This place will tickle any fancy, and you have got to be on the deck. The view of the dam and overall area amazing. Did I mention the good service and pretty awesome food as well??
