Cheap for tower only entry at 300 yen per adult. There is 2 floors for observation. The 4th floor is all around viewing with benches and a love temple kinda thing... People leave heart Keychains in there wishing em a prosper marriage... The 5th floor is also all around viewing with benches and binoculars... 100 yen a pop and it's over when you start having fun haha... The seventh floor is the buffet restaurant. Ain't all that expensive but the variety is kinda weak. The pizza is Japanese flavored, which mean they are sweetened. The wine is horrible. The beer is good. The chuhai drinks are also good. Overall a good experience. The buffet could be better.

Entered as it was part of the zoo ticket. It's quite a tired building and the view across nagoya is not particularly enthralling

Nice overview area. It offers good view of the zoo, its forest and surroundings of Nagoya. In a good clear day you can see almost all the city and surroundings. But there are not too much more to see. There is a nice restaurant at the top. But almost nothing else besides that. All information is only on Japanese on the view area and you can find some souvenirs there. But is is not the tallest place in the city and nothing else attractive. Good point is that the price is not too high when you buy together with the zoo entrance.

Great views, the zoo has been updated recently, giving some animals more space to move. That said, this zoo is not the kindest to it's wild animals, many animals like birds and cats have very very tiny spaces. It's cruel. I'm from Australia, we have zoo's too. Open zoos, but still cruel. These animals deserve much much bigger spaces to mimic their natural habitats. I know it's near impossible to do in Japan as space is premium. Don't open a national zoo in central suburbia. Close it, move it to the outskirts and give the animals FREE RANGE! Visitors will appreciate and admire the surrounding so much more. Give us a safari mountain experience, where animals and people enjoy. Nagoya zoo is meant for housing, not animal cages.

When I am visiting cities, I look for high vantage points to get a bird’s eye view, I found that this tower was a good point of view, standing at over 100 metres high you can see much of Nagoya. The observation deck provides 360-degree views of the city and surrounds, on a hot summer’s day the refreshing air-con is a welcome relief, I was up here on a Sunday and there were many visitors/tourists that came up here, I had an hour or so to kill and I sat up here enjoying the view and the comfortable environment, there’s a little gift shop there too. No matter how old or young this tower is a worthwhile visit. The tower is about a 20-minute walk from the train station, be warned that one of the roads leading up to the car park from the main street is quite steep so if you struggle with steep inclines, it may be wise to catch a taxi up there.

Higashiyama Sky Tower was opened in 1989 as part of the commemoration of the centennial of Nagoya City’s foundation. Aside from the observation deck, it also has a restaurant. Being a disaster-prone country (especially earthquakes), the Sky Tower was also fitted with a vibration-damping equipment, designed to absorb energy from the earthquakes (I believe many buildings in Japan were also fitted with similar systems). The Sky Tower is also used as a relay station for disaster-prevention wireless communications of the local government. Standing over Mount Higashi by 134 meters, the glass needle-like Higashiyama Sky Tower is perfect to have a view of the entire zoo, botanical gardens, Nagoya City and its nearby places. Too bad we weren’t able to stay long enough to see the sunset and the night view.

The Higashiyama Sky Tower is situated on top of Mt. Higashiyama and provides a splendid view of the Higashiyama Zoo, botanical gardens, and the surrounding area. To enter, an admission fee of ¥300 is required. Visitors may also purchase the zoo and tower combo ticket for ¥640. Highly recommended for those visiting the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens.

One can experience a nice view of the city. I'm sure night lights would make the view better, so we plan to go another time.

The Higashiyama Sky Tower gives a commanding view of the zoo next door and of Nagoya city nearby. On a clear day the Japanese alps will also be visible to the north, shining white with snow. Steam from the volcano Mt Ontake might also be visible. The tower houses a restaurant, a gift shop, and a viewing deck. It is also open into the evening hours to see the city lights shine once the sun sets.

I was finally able to visit the tower after living in Nagoya for almost a year. The view is beautiful, and you can see Mirai Tower and Mode Gakuen on a clear day!

The Sky Tower will give you a beautiful 360 scenery of the zoo and the city. I particularly like the view of the lake with its colorful boats and seal pool. The staff are kind and helpful. Worth the visit.

A little too far from nearest bus/metro stop. So prepare to use your legs, or come by car.

Have to spend a day walking around the park and the zoo. We cannot finish walking in the zoo for 3 hours. We skip the botanical garden and part of the zoo. Will visit again next time. It closed at 16:50. The ticket for combination of botanical garden & zoo cost 640yen.

This is a great place to capture great photography of the city of Nagoya. The night sky is great, but during the day it's better, especially at dawn and at dusk!
