Tourist attraction Historical landmark

👍 When I went to Nagoya, I had about 3 hours, so I went to Arimatsu, which I had been interested in for a long time. It was very nice to walk around the old and quiet cityscape. It was also close to Arimatsu station of Meitetsu. I recommend it. By the way, there aren't many places to eat. People often mention Arimatsu, townscape, Tokaido, buildings, people, nice, town, Shibori, road,

The old townscape remains for approximately 800 meters along the Tokaido, and has been designated as an important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings. There are places all over the country where old townscapes such as post towns still remain, but many of them have become theme parks. However, here in Arimatsu, it seems that the way people have lived since ancient times has been inherited, and the quiet and calm atmosphere is very pleasant. This time it was early in the morning and there were hardly any people passing by, but I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

This townscape looks like the townscape of a post town built in the Edo period that still remains today. It seems like there are some volunteers guiding people around the city. I had never seen many old buildings, so it was very impressive. Although the distance was short, it was nice to be able to see the old townscape.

If you take a trip to Okehazama Battlefield Park and the local temples, walk through this street on your way there or back. It's a modern take on the historic 'Tokaido' Road - a historically significant route used for hundreds of years.

(Translated by Google) Since it was developed by the Owari feudal clan as a "chaya village," it is located between the 39th inn "Ikegoi Sushi-juku" and the 40th inn "Narumi-juku" on the Tokaido 53rd. As a "majuku", it became a place for travelers traveling on the Tokaido to drink tea and take a rest. In addition, because there was not enough land suitable for cultivation in the surrounding area, the production of "tie-dyeing" became popular instead of not being cultivated so much, and "Arimatsu / Narumi" is widely known for its beauty and high quality. Developed throughout the Edo period as a production center for "squeezing". It has been selected as an important traditional buildings preservation district of the country as a valuable townscape where you can see its development even from the splendid buildings that still remain.

It's also my hometown. In the past, the old Tokaido road was just a line of old townscapes, but with the preservation of the townscapes in recent years, it has become so beautiful that it is unrecognizable. It would be perfect if there was a mansion that would let the inside of the house open to the public.

(Translated by Google) It's a little short (about 300m), but it's one of the best highways I've ever seen. Although it has a gabled roof, it has a flat roof in order to have a long frontage for selling products to travelers. (Original) 少し短い(300m位)ですが、筆者が今まで見た街道筋の中でも秀逸です。旅人に商品を売るため間口を長くとるため、切妻屋根ながら平入にしています。

Walk with friends in June 2023 The scenery is very nice, but it's nice that it's not crowded with tourists 😃 (Although it might not be a good idea for a tourist spot💦) It's not too crowded even on weekends, so it's good that even locals can easily go there👍 It’s also nice to see “Arimatsu Shibori” curtains hung in front of houses and shops☺ I don't really use it, but it makes me feel good because I feel like local specialties are being known to the world (lol) A place that seems to be popular with foreign tourists However, I have never seen a single foreign tourist.I wonder why🤔 Post town on the Tokaido Even the author, who is not familiar with history, knows the old road. I have been to other post towns and Nakasendo, so I can make some comparisons. In my opinion, Arimatsu-juku is fairly large. However, it is overtaken by other historical tourist spots →I can't become famous I guess (dogmatic and prejudiced) A spot where you can feel like you've traveled back in time just by walking It's not too crowded, so you can take your time and learn about the townscape and history! This is a place that is highly recommended for people

This is the most impressive streetscape preservation district in Nagoya. Concrete buildings and highways that can be seen everywhere ruin the atmosphere. If you can ignore this, you can enjoy it. There are surprisingly many cars on the street...

(Translated by Google) The retro townscape of Arimatsu. It is a tourist attraction in Nagoya with traditional buildings that make you feel the history. Arimatsu has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings as a dyeing and weaving town. It is not a street lined with restaurants and shops, so it lacks glamor, but it is a relatively quiet town and a spacious space. This is a recommended sightseeing spot for those who want to take a leisurely stroll through the calm townscape. It's a tourist destination that you can easily visit in half a day. I think it's quite a hidden gem. The old and beautiful streets are still there, it's not crowded, and there are cafes, so I was able to enjoy it calmly. The Arimatsu Narumi Shibori Hall has an Arimatsu Shibori shop and museum, and you can enjoy seeing beautiful actual Arimatsu Shibori products and demonstrations of the ``Shibori'' process. It seems that there are traditional festivals in June and October, so I would like to come back to see them during those times.

Quite an interesting stroll in Arimatsu 有松alongside this portion of the former Tokaido road (now departmental road 222) featuring many traditional ancient Japanese residences. Some are historical landmarks open to the public while others are still inhabited and not open to visits. The village of Arimatsu 有松 was specialized in manufacturing “shibori” textile pieces.

(Translated by Google) Arimatsu is one of the leading post towns on the Tokaido, and its specialty is tie-dyeing. The townscape from the Edo period has been carefully preserved thanks to the efforts of local people to preserve it. (Original) 有松は東海道屈指の宿場町で、特産品は絞り染です。地元の方々が保存に努力され江戸時代からの町並みが丁寧に遺されています。

(Translated by Google) Visited for the first time. I borrowed the parking lot of the Arimatsu-Narumi Shibori Kaikan and strolled through the streets of Arimatsu. First of all, take a walk from the east end to the road running through. Streets are developed on both sides of the old Tokaido, but I wonder if the Tokaido was this width from the old days of Edo? Streets with lattice doors and lattice windows, buildings that seem to have been around since the Edo period, storehouses, storehouses for floats, and buildings that have been rebuilt but still maintain their scenery are all mixed together, but there is no sense of incongruity. Many houses and shops were hung with 'Arimatsu' Arimatsu-shibori noren and lanterns with 'Arimatsu' written on them. I'm sure there are many people who would want to live in this town if there were vacancies. Even though it was a one-way street, the cars were roaring away...! Is it possible for cars to pass on weekends as well as on weekdays? The townscape of Nobunaga's attack road, no nameplate.

The other day, I attended an event at Arimatsu Michiakari while taking a walk at night. I went to see it. Unlike the cityscape during the day, the warm lights spilling from the bamboo trees were very magical.
