Great service, delicious food, and the music playing in the background was made for my husband and I 😂. He ordered the strawberry croissant French Toast and I had the Irish Special. Both were great and good size portions.

Cozy diner with attentive staff given how small the diner is. It is QUIET here! And that's always a good thing for a casual meet up in a cozy booth over a light meal. Traditional Americana food that hits the spot... and of course their Pies are homemade and what they're arguably best known for. Great selection of Pies and a pretty good slice delivered. 👌

This place is our favorite spot to grab breakfast or lunch. The food is phenomenal and the service is even greater. Great prices, excellent food and great staff! Nick was our server this morning and he was on point and on top of it. Thanks for making great food!! 👍

Had a great lunch at AL Smith's Place. Nice restaurant with hearty and great priced meals. Definitely recommend the burgers and Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

Made from scratch food, a ton of food for the price, and the nicest staff I’ve ever meet. I had the Hot Mess, husband had the fish dinner, and we shared tater tot tacos. Everything was cooked perfectly, hot and delicious.

Been here a few times now with my husband. Good service. Clean restaurant with decent food. My husband loves the homemade great northern beans with cornbread. I had the turkey plate last...was quite tasty and satisfied my craving for comfort food.

We got there a half hour before closing and they gave us all the time we needed to finish our meal. The food was really good and not outrageously priced. I will go back and I do recommend it.

The food is freshly made, and absolutely delicious. If you have memories of a southern grandma cooking, this will bring you back to your childhood. The deserts are also incredible. Very reasonably priced for the quality and flavor!

This place just happened to be within walking distance of my hotel. Great spot for homestyle Americana fare. Very good food and service. The establishment was clean and I was very appreciative to be able to order breakfast at lunchtime. Looking forward to trying out the other side of the menu on my next visit.

What can i say about this place, its the best hole in the wall I've been to. The food is PHENOMENAL for the price, always hot, always fresh and always tasty. I've been here 4 times and I'm gonna keep coming back. Best chicken and waffles around, chicken is always crispy hot and sizzling, great fast service and great people. This is my favorite place to sit for breakfast and lunch, please give them a try you will not be disappointed

You have a little wait for broasted chicken but it was worth the wait, sides were good too. I forgot to take pictures of the chicken before I ate it but did get one of Carmel apple walnut pie and it’s wonderful. Enjoy!

Good food. I got the triple decker club. Came out pretty fast. Really great job. Fries were spot on too. Was not very busy either. Got right in and got our food. Nice little restaurant to check out.

Friendly and fast service. I got my drink (diet pepsi with lemon) almost immediately after sitting. I got the mouth watering cheeseburger with fries. First off the fries were well seasoned, super hot and crispy. Which tells me they waited to put the fries down until the burger was nearly done being cooked. That is absolutely something i look for when ordering a burger. Second the burger was pretty good with salt and pepper I added at the table. I really would have liked to add the fried onions they offer on the Tex burger for an up charge but as luck turns out it's only available on that specific burger. If you eat pork I would likely recommend the Tex burger for $3 more. my Total was $12.66 (before 20% tip) with tax which is about the exact price of a large whopper with cheese meal. If you want to support a local business instead of fast food Al's place would be about the same price as Burger King (plus tip) if you wanted a burger night.

When me and my friends first walked in we immediately knew the food was going to be bomb because there were so many elderly people already sitting down. We were right, the second the food was served it was silence across the table for a solid couple of minutes. My food was gone before I even considered taking a picture, and it was a lot of food for the price AND they loaded me up on the toast. Also Nick was on it with coffee refills and conversation, not to mention there is a student discount for people attending UT. Truly medicine for the soul this food. Almost brought me to tears. I got a chorizo skillet thing (I’m sorry I can’t remember the actual name) here’s my empty plate. Thanks Nick ✊ Update: I went back again and took a picture this time

AL Smith's Place was an excellent recommendation to eat at. The food was delicious. Their portions are very generous. We noticed many people eating pie. Next time we will certainly join them. The pie looked sooo good.

Honestly this place is a hidden gem! Please go. The food is cheap price wise but the quality is A1! It's sooo good the gyro skillet is an unexpected surprise that you will not regret. The waffles are amazing. The homemade Biscuits are a home run.. The only thing we weren't fond of was the blueberry pancakes. But everything else was on point. I will definitely be back when I'm back in Toledo. This just became my new spot!

I had wheat toast and 2 scrambled eggs cooked light. Something simple I ended up with hot toast and cold brunt eggs. I asked the waitress for another plate coked correctly. She said there's nothing wrong with the one you have. I told her to repeat my order she said toast on wheat 2 eggs scrambled light. Then I said look at my plate do it match my order. Her voice changed real quick saying no It Doesn't. Your eggs ate dry and overcooked. When it start turning brown you are letting them burn.
