Went there twice in the matter of 3 days, great place lots of space big portions and the seafood is wonderful, the octopus is very delicious both as an entree and main dish, the salmon is a huge portion, they have a great variety of wine selections the service is great they both speak in Spanish Portuguese and French a little bit of English as well I also tried the Tomahawk Steak and that was wonderful but heads up it will take 40 minutes to for them to prepare it. But overall I say Superior seafood.

This traditional Portuguese restaurant boasts a spacious layout, divided into two sections - a welcoming ground floor and a cozy basement. Over the past six years, my fifth visit has confirmed that the food and service remain reliably excellent. Our selections included Prawns Fried in Garlic, Monkfish Rice with Prawns, Iberica Pork Cheeks Stewed with Chestnuts, and Grilled Squid with Baked Potatoes and Sauteed Vegetables. Each dish featured ample, fresh vegetables. The standout was undeniably the Monkfish Rice with Prawns, offering a delightful balance of flavors without being overly seasoned. However, the Iberica Pork Cheeks, while well-prepared, were slightly overshadowed by the wine sauce. This restaurant is an ideal spot to savor authentic Portuguese cuisine with family or friends. With a total bill of around 85 EUR, it remains an eminently affordable option.

Absolute gem. Authentic Portuguese food in a spacious setting. The food was delicious. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, one of the waiters even explained how our dishes were cooked (it takes 3 days to make the tripe stew).

Abadia was one of the nearby dining suggestions from our hotel, and I'm glad we visited. It was a linen tablecloth, exquisitely professional dinner presentation that was both a meal and an experience. My wife elected to go with the local specialty - tripe stew with beans and meat. If something has a long history, regardless of how appealing it may sound from the name alone, there's a good chance that it will be really good if you are brave enough to give it a try. That was certainly the case with the tripe. We were both glad we got to taste it. I chose a delightful roast pork for my dinner, and was equally happy. Every table at Abadia had something interesting - a smaller table next to it, that the black aproned wait staff used as individualized serving stations. Large portions arrived at the table, and an ample amount of food was plated while we watched, and abundant amounts of additional servings sat waiting for us to get to them. Service was of the old school, professional kind, making our evening at Abadia an exceptional one.

Great place to try out Porto’s famous tripas!! Every dish was amazing and the waiter was very kind to explain to us how to eat certain food we’ve never seen before. It’s a really spacious restaurant too so even with a lot of customers, everyone was comfortably spaced and it never got too loud. A must visit if you’re trying to a get a taste of traditional Portuguese food in Porto!

An extremely touristy Portuguese restaurant. Not to discredit the food, because the food was excellent all around. However, The waiters were not the most attentive and if one were to search around, one would be able to find similar quality of food for at a lower price point.

The Abadia do Porto restaurant is very big, inside the have tables on the first floor and in the baseman. Place looks very clean and organized. The service it was good but our waiter was a bit pushy and want us to order what he wanted. Other than that it was ok. We has the tomahawk that it came with salad and fries, the seasoning it was different on the tomahawk but it was really good.

Don’t miss out on this spot. Food is excellent, and yes the waiters are jokers but all in good fun. The soups, shrimp and octopus apps, along with codfish dishes were were a real treat!!

Everything here was excellent. The waiter was fun, funny, and interacted extremely well with us. He had a great sense of humor, engaged with the kids, gave us recommendations, helped us with pronunciation (we all speak some amount of Spanish, but almost no Portuguese!) He was generally just a fantastic person. The food was also amazing. For starters, we got the bolhinas de bacalau, which were just amazing. Then, I got the traditional kale soup (caldo verde) and the pork belly. The pork belly came with shoestring fries. All of it was amazing. Everything had garlic and olive oil on it, providing a delightful flavor. I made sure to push my fries around in it to soak up everything after I consumed my pork belly with vigor. The pork belly itself was perfectly cooked and had garlic all over it, which I LOVED. My family had other dishes as well, all of which were confirmed delicious. Then we all shared dessert, each getting something different. I got the Tocinhou da Céu (I think it was called), which was delightful in flavor and light in texture. I was told it was made with pumpkin, eggs, and almonds. There was powdered sugar on top, and I ate every bite with gusto. Highly recommend this restaurant. Everything here is fantastic.

Off the beaten track, a great place to go to for more than reasonably priced traditional Portuguese food! Service was exceptional! We had the octopus salad, wild boar and salmon and would order the same all over again! Note, turning up in shorts and T-shirt’s may be frowned upon!

It was a busy Saturday evening so we had to wait a bit to be seated. It's a spacious restaurant, and we were seated near the stairs, so it was a bit cold. The food was ok, not all of it was amazing. The caldo verde was really good and the veal had a perfect cuisson. The cod fritters however were not as good as the previous restaurant I reviewed. Although the octopus was perfectly cooked, the rest of the dish lacked seasoning. I also didn't like how I was rushed to finish my fritters, where the waiter took away my plate while I was having my last bite. The dessert was awesome. However, I still think the service was good, so I give it 3 stars.

The food was very tasty and the service perfect, fast and courteous. For us, the portions were too large. When we wanted to sample more from the menu, our server Angelo suggested tasting sized portions. We weren't able to finish everything we ordered even though we liked them all. (Kale soup, rosted sardines, tripe with beans and many other things and a baby goat dish). We left being very happy!

One of the most satisfying meal we have had in Portugal. Every meal was cooked with care and to perfection and the service was outstanding. we had the fried small sardine for appetizer which took me back to my hometown kolkata. the sausage was every bit moist and tender. the entree of monkfish and prawn stew was huge in portion but very satisfying We finished off with chocolate mousse which had the texture of a soufflé and the delicious portuguese custard. The prices were very reasonable This place is a must visit for anyone looking for traditional portuguese meal. Wholeheartedly recommend. call ahead for a reservation

Restaurant recommended by the apartment managers, let's say it was good advice! Tourist area, central area, large. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially in the One of the recommendations was tripe (Abadia style) and in fact it was the dish I chose! Having chosen the half portion, it initially seemed small, but the pot was hard to finish. - Very good, with different types of pieces of meat, very tasty and well seasoned with beans. The grilled squid: very tender and well presented. All accompanied by half a bottle of wine (they have a large quantity)! Quality/price - excellent Food: - Tripe - Abadia Style - Seafood cream - Grilled squid

It is a beautiful place where you can find special dishes in Porto. At the point of Portuguese food, I can definitely recommend this place. Waiters well know meals and the menu. You can ask what you want and they will help you in the best way possible. The portions are pretty big. If you have a place after the main meal, please try “lime pie”. The fresh and tasty dessert that I have eaten was one of the best desserts in my life.

We actually already had our first round of food while walking around so this second round we didnt order much. The bacalhau fritters are great, it smells n taste soooo good so I finished it all by myself, mom like grilled fish n her friend tried octopus. The food r generous, we had some variety of bread , the place is cozy n waitors are very friendly. 👍

We were told the baccalau takes 20 mins when we placed the order, we ended up waited one hour! We also had the veal which was really tender. The traditional food is good quality ( I rate 9 out of 10) but the service needs to improve (I rate 4 out of 10) the least they could do is to inform the customer it takes longer.

One of the best meals in Portugal. Cold starter of octopus in parsley sauce and Pork cheeks with chestnut and potatoes made the highlights of our day. It was such a delight to be served by Moreira as he’s so genuine with a pleasant personality.

My husband wanted traditional Portuguese food and when he saw sardines were on the menu, he was in heaven! The restaurant was about a 15 minute walk from our Air BnB - Rua de Flores. Our waiter was very attentive and provided good food and drink recommendations. Definitely would come back again!

Very elegant and fine dining restaurant. Local speciality dishes perfectly cooked. Liked it so much, we went twice. Had octopus, sardines, monkfish rice with prawns, steak and grilled cod fish in olive oil. For desserts there was a coffee and wafer cake, something like creme brulé, and one with an egg combination, cannot remember the name but very good. We had a rose wine on one day and white the next, both very good. They have a menu in English and waiters speak English.

My husband and I are enchanted with this place. The service and food are top notch. If you want authentic and amazingly delicious food from Porto go to this restaurant. All of the wines, water and ports are from Portugal. The food is so delicious, that it’s an out of body experience. Venture out and try food you’ve never had before. You will not be dissatisfied or disappointed. The tripe soup, the salted cod dish, the goat entree, the sopa verde, the clams and so far four of the desserts have been so good.

An amazing old school restaurant. The waiters dish out the food at the table. The service is like it use to be. The place is beautiful, but more importantly the food is great. I had the trips soup and the roasted goat. Both were exceptional.

I came this restaurant two days in a row. First day, I had Tripas which was super delicious! And all of staff was so nice and very great customer service. If you come here just right after opening, atmosphere is nice , quite and cozy, very reliable. Today I will try another traditional food, cod fish. I hope it nice. Anyway, if you looking for something traditional Portuguese foods for reasonable price, and good customer service restaurant, I really recommend here!!!

Very nice restaurant. The food is very nice. I had the iberico pork shoulder which was very tender. Would definitely recommend it. It came with a free refill of rice and the waiter actually gave us an extra free refill so the service was even better than the food. Food portions are very large too so it's worth the price. Dessert of milk creme and burnt was like a creme brulé which was also nice.

Very good Portuguese food! Good taste and well done food! Like in a Michelin restaurant! The service is excellent! I spilled by mistake my orange juice and I received another one without asking. Very funny and nice waiter. We loved it!

The expectations about the restaurant had been higher than I finally got. I had been expecting for the restaurant with historical and unusual cuisine. The service and the stuff were brilliant, but the main cuisine that our company ate, grilled octopus, squids, salads etc, it was quite usual, very fried and not very taste. In other restaurants I liked it much more. I think this place is too overestimated and the price is too high for this food.

We make sure to stop at Porto just to eat there! The food is delicious...the portions are huge and the price seems like a joke! The restaurant is huge and has many different rooms, it is gorgeous inside. So so cheap and so delicious. The staff is super friendly. On our last visit we were served by Manual, how made the night even better. We had as entrée Salgadinhos (fryed specialties) and the most delicious Octopus Salad we've ever had. Then our kid had the Peru empanado with rice and beans (half a portion is enough for two!!!!) and we had the amazing Bacalhau de Broa, Cod fish with a corn bread crust with potatos.... fricking amazing! Delicious..and again, the portion for 1 is enough for two. If you're at porto, dont fall on the many tourist traps and head to Abadia do Porto, as it is a local's favorite. I can't say enough about this place. Love it!

The food in the restaurant was good, but the attitude of the waiter was terrible and racist!! We ordered coldfish last night, two ladies from other countries ordered the same dish, but this waiter did not help us peel and cut the fish at all, but he served the customers at the next two tables (I took photos, the first one is my coldfish, you can see from the picture that the fish was not peeled and cut). The second photo and the third photo are of him serving other customers, helping other customers cut fish) Besides, when he asked me, 'everything is ok? " I asked him specifically why he didn't serve us, he pretended not to understand and kept telling me that" Yes, this is cold fish, in a word, this is a very bad restaurant, and I will expose this waiter's behavior on other social media!!" Remind other friends not to go to this restaurant.
