Staff
refused
to
deal
with
me
because
I
was
foreign
so
had
to
return
with
my
wife,
even
though
I
was
speaking
adequate
Japanese
(JLPT
N3).
Finally
signed
up
and
started
training
and
also
took
up
a
Tae
Kwon-Do
class.
The
class
was
great,
however
a
couple
of
gym
staff
took
it
upon
themselves
to
make
me
feel
unwelcome.
Often
I
was
told
I
could
not
use
certain
facilities,
or
told
to
finish
early
but
the
same
two
people
whenever
they
saw
me.
One
of
them
would
often
ask
me
to
clean
up
in
the
changing
room
accusing
me
of
leaving
trash.
One
day
when
swimming,
one
of
the
staff
told
me
to
get
out
of
the
pool
and
get
changed.
I
did
so
and
waiting
outside
of
the
men's
changing
room,
he
asked
for
my
member's
card.
I
gave
it
to
him
and
asked
what
the
problem
was.
He
said
they
are
revoking
my
membership.
I
asked
the
reason
why
and
he
told
me
I
have
a
visible
tattoo.
I
asked
where
and
he
pointed
to
my
back
where
I
have
a
birth
mark.
I
told
him
it
is
not
a
tattoo
and
a
birth
mark
and
he
proceeded
to
argue
and
complain
that
foreigners
can
never
follow
rules
and
have
to
taint
their
bodies
with
ink
and
piercings
while
he
canceled
my
membership.
Even
though
I
do
not
have
piercings
or
tattoos.
I
asked
if
I
can
continue
my
Tae
Kwon-Do
classes,
since
I
do
not
use
the
changing
room
and
arrive
already
changed
and
ready.
He
said
no
and
that
he
does
not
want
me
near
the
building.
I
brought
my
wife
in
a
few
hours
later
who
explained
that
I
have
a
birth
mark
and
can
even
get
a
doctor's
note
for
it.
The
man
then
said
that
I
was
verbally
abusive,
threatened
him
and
kicked
the
door
open
as
I
stormed
out
(all
lies).
When
he
simply
asked
me
to
not
smoke.
(I
do
not
smoke).
We
asked
to
speak
to
the
manager
and
he
refused.
Not
sure
what
the
guy's
problem
was
but
as
a
newcomer
to
Japan.
This
franchise
left
a
nasty
taste
in
my
mouth.
