Great speakeasy vibe! Reservation only, very exclusive bar. We were accommodated by a wonderful and kind female staff. She check on us multiple times to make sure we were having a good time! The drinks we got were wonderful and delicious :)

Visited this place in Dec 2015 while i was attending QBO Connect. The ambiance and characters were amazing. They served so much good and drinks. Our host was Quickbooks Intuit and they throw an amazing patty. I met lots of other accountants and had an amazing time.

I loved this place! You definitely need to make a reservation but it's worth it. Get the "Hidden in Plain Sight"!! It was incredible!! The service was great, the drinks were flavourful and delicious and well presented. And the overall vibe of the place being a hidden bar in the basement was great.

TL;DR: Post-demic, The Cloak is still an oasis of great cocktails and service amongst the chaos of the entertainment district. The Cloak is a favourite spot, which I finally came back to after the global temperance. Happy to see that it’s still meeting a high bar for creative and competent cocktails, and great service. King west has plenty of places to eat and drink but few to do so with relative dignity, and the Cloak is on the latter end of that continuum (e.g. drink photos far outnumber bathroom selfies on instagram). It also helps that it’s on Wellington and leans into the speakeasy theme. The photos will take care of the vibe check. And I haven’t had much of the food (though if it’s from the Marben kitchen, assume it’s good). So that leaves drinks and service. First, thanks to the team for accommodating a sometimes challenging walk-in (make reservations!). Inside, the cocktail list has something for presumably everyone, from increasingly creative extrapolations of classic cocktail varieties, to some particularly inventive outliers. I decided to try what (to me) seemed the most questionable of those (which shall remain nameless) for my first round. While I’m convinced it was well made, and I do like going out of my cocktail comfort zone, apparently the not-as-reserved-as-I’d-hoped look on my face after each sip was enough for Carolina to come over and end my prideful suffering (though I think she watched me try it at least a few times first :) And, to arrange a far more well-received replacement after a brief and unreservedly candid exchange about my preferences. While I’m uniquely impressed with Carolina’s observational powers, everyone I’ve met at the Cloak demonstrates the attentiveness and responsiveness of a team that cares about quality of experience. The Cloak has a no-tipping policy, which I hope means they take care of their staff properly, as they should, given the quality of service.

Cloak bar is one of the highly coveted “speakeasy” establishments in Toronto. Naturally I was very excited to be here. You have to call someone to let you in. Its a really nice vibe - sexy, dim lighting, circular booths, intimate. Classic speakeasy. However, the drinks are a little pricey and not super boozy. And that’s where my 3 star rating comes in. At a $22 price point I expect a beautiful, complex and boozy cocktail. The beauty and complexity alone isn’t worth the price. I should be able to tell what alcohol has been used immediately on my first sip. That’s a good cocktail in my opinion. Of the three drinks I tried, the honey bourbon Betty was my favourite. It’s a beautiful, sweet cocktail with the nicest, faint touch of hazelnut.

5 stars for the staff, vibe, setting. The speak easy scenario where you have to call to have the door opened and “sneak” in is always fun. 4 stars for the drinks. They were cool, completely unique mixes like my drink that changed flavor as it went. And different takes on the classics. 2 stars for the prices and food. We paid about $20-$25 per drink and they were really scabby on the booze. We should have fallen been falling out the door after 2 drinks for $50! Also the cheese board is not great quality, needs more bread and less pickled veg and scoops of mustard. I heard this place is closing down which is a shame cause with half an ounce more liquor and more substance on the ploughmans board it would of been perfect. But value shouldn’t be overlooked.

THE STAFF WERE SO RUDE. Waitress screamed at me when I asked to confirm it was the right drink. Bartender cursed me out when I asked her for a mask, since I dropped mine on the floor and wanted a fresh one. There was one guy waiter who was chill, gave us a small headache because we didn’t ask before grabbing a spare chair (bar was half empty), but he made up for it later in the night. They didn’t remove the empty or dirty glasses from our table as we drank them, bad service. Drinks were average. The venue was half empty on a Saturday night, what does that tell you?

This is the first speakeasy I’ve gone to in Toronto and it was absolutely amazing! The cocktails, ambiance, and staff were incredible. Shout-out to Mateo and Özcån for the great service and even better conversations!

Had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Cloak Bar! A month ago I had a private event there and booked out the entire space. The staff were incredible from beginning to end - from the planning beforehand to the very last second when our final guest left. Everyone loved the food, drinks and especially the unique and cool ambiance. I can't rave enough about how much all the staff went above and beyond with their service that night to make it a night to remember - thank you for a memorable evening!

Daniel was amazing!!! He made me and my friend drinks off of the menu based on our flavour and ingredient pretences and all 3 drinks were incredible!!! So much talent and super approachable/knowledgeable!!! I absolutely love this hidden gem. It is such an intimate and cozy ambiance! I hate overly pretentious places in Toronto and this is not it. The vibe here is incredible! Very very small but amazing. Maria was such a sweetheart!! She was absolutely lovely from the moment I called from the moment we left. Very attentive and friendly. 1000% recommend.

The mystery that is The Cloak Bar…it was very unique and our server Daniel was the absolute best. We didn’t have reservations but he let us in and still treated us like royalty. Ask him for his signature drink, you won’t be disappointed. The french fries were to die for. And trust me I have tried a lot of fries throughout my life. Soft and crispy and salty. What’s not to like. 👍🏻

Marvel down stairs. Company Christmas party. We had the entire place with separate entrance. Very cool! Food great consider it is bar food; great atmosphere; nice decor; siting is very comfortable. I give 4 star only because our music choice is loud to my liking. While it is for all bars.

The ambience is beautiful and the best part of the bar. Lights are dim and music is just loud enough not to drown conversation. Of the cocktails I tried one was really good and the other two wouldn't make my top 10 of cocktails in Toronto, they are a few dollars more expensive that comparable cocktails at comparable places. The food is disappointing, very expensive and not very good. The burger is very dry, the Scotch egg was overcooked and the pork pasties lacked flavor. I also don't like the fact that they kick you out after 2 hrs. I understand that that is their business choice, but if I'm going to meet friends for drinks I don't want to be on a timer...

Had the best time here after it got highly recommended to go. Daniel was our superstar server and his new drink was amazing. He was so helpful and wonderful server. We also had the fries which you can get spicy or regular and both were to die for.

We had a small gathering at the Cloak Bar to celebrate a family wedding and I cannot say enough great things. We were given excellent service, great food and to top it off it was a very cool atmosphere. I would highly recommend booking for any party. We had about 50/50 vegetarians and meat eaters. The team was able to accommodate very easily.

This is one of my favourite bars in the city. Great service, dimly candle lit room and a great cocktail menu. I would recommend to always make a reservation since they have limited space.

A fantastic first experience. As I continue my hunt for Toronto's best cocktails, The Cloak Bar did not disappoint. The Kapu Kulu was my favourite. Our bartender was the best. Despite a packed room he was somehow able to remember all the cocktails we had and give us suggestions for our next pours. Although meant to be a speakeasy, it feels less so after the sign was put up at the front door that says "Bar Open". Nonetheless, the interior was well done and the atmosphere was buzzing but not loud - perfect for having a conversation. I definitely recommend this cocktail bar!

An awesome low-key bar. Cocktails were top notch, each person in our group discovered something new to try, and the service was exceptional - our server was able to suggest perfect matches to our preferences, so that was outstanding. It was quite unusual to see a bar almost empty at 10:30 pm and then get filled up to the brim by midnight, but when more people showed up the place got very lively and active, while still being cozy. Overall - had a great time and will be coming back again.

Came here with no expectation and I must say, this place is a jewel in the city. If you love whiskey, a rich ambience, candle scents and speak easy? Then, this place is for you! Love it and recommend it!

Fully enjoyed my experience here. I found this place on Pinterest as I was creating my board for our TO trip. It's in the part of town where there's a large amount of bars and clubs that are loud and slightly obnoxious so coming here felt like a respite of some sort. Also, I know some people feel like Speakeasies are kinda dumb because we are long past the Prohibition days, but as I travel and attempt to either bring back or have large amounts of local booze with me I keep finding that many places have alcohol laws that still date back to Prohibition. Also, those people can suck it because there's still something cool about Speakeasies.

Amazing experience! "Dreads" our server and bartender Marco were fabulous! Service was impeccable and we had a great time. The drinks were tasty and the venue gives of real "speakeasy" vibes which we loved! I'd 100% come back! Hope we get "Dreads" as our server again!!

The cocktails, food, and service were all incredible. Drinks were crafted impeccably. Every bite was satisfying- rodie burger, midnight oil fries, Japanese pancake, popcorn chicken. Our server was lovely and checked in on us throughout our visit. This place is truly a gem!

Love the vibe, ambience and the whole experience! It's easy to find the entrance as it's right next to Marben's entrance. Some great cocktails and food options. Our group tried Reverse Old Fashioned, Half The Story, Carmen Miranda, Hidden in Plain Sight, and Minor Swing. and, paired up the drinks with a bowl of midnight fries. Extremely satisfied with everything we ordered. Service is prompt and friendly! Highly recommended!

Incredibly stylish, somewhat hidden little gem of a bar. Fantastic service! Call if you can’t find the place and they’ll come out to greet you. Such a great experience! Highly recommended.

I went last night without a reservation in fear we wouldn't get in but just from the answer of the phone it was great service. Isabel was our server last night and she did an extremely great job, she knew exactly what cocktails to recommend when we didn't know what to get as well as being attentive to our table. She was the best! The atmosphere of the place was beautiful and cozy, great music was playing and great food was served. The bartender and the other server were just as helpful and welcoming as ever. Would definitely come back with more friends!

We were a group of four and tried a few cocktails there and loved all of them. The staff was really nice and helpful and accommodate us eventhough we were late for our reservation

Ambiance was very nice- cozy and comfortable. Drinks were good and servers were very nice and attentive- but the shorter 1.5 hour seating window coupled with very slow serving of drinks and kitchen service dampened the experience a bit. Interesting variety of drinks- wish I could have tried more if they were served faster. Got the Brodie burger and fries. Burger was good but the fries were over cooked and too hard. I think these issues can be easily resolved, I definitely will be coming back.

Drinks & food were meh! But look out they will cheat you with the bill!! The server charged us double the rate for each drink, we got a bill that was over $150 more. When we pointing out the absurdity to the server (we can read a menu!), she speaks to her supervisor, who calls up his manager from the upstairs bar and then they conflab and sort the bill BUT none of them even APOLOGIZE for the mistake on their end! Terrible - definitely walked out feeling taken advantage of!

The Cloak Bar is everything I would want and expect from a bar experience. An interesting (albeit pricey) cocktail menu, very cozy yet classy vibe, and fantastic service. I really want to highlight the attention the staff paid to service: despite pandemic restrictions placing 90-120 minute limits on most reservations throughout the city we never felt like we were being rushed out. It's hard for staff to hit the balance between being attentive to a table but not pushy, but the staff at The Cloak Bar did such a fantastic job I would definitely go back.
