We were out walking in Toronto and ended up trying this place. Service was prompt and courteous. The food was also good and came quickly. Had the Beef Ribs and my GF had the Butter Chicken, I would recommend both.

I lived in Toronto for 8 years and before emigrating from the UK, my friends took me here for my first night out (knowing my love of decent beer). I get together with these friends nearly every year in C'est What, and it's always a great experience. We were served by a wonderful person named Laura this past Saturday. Everything is great.

Amazing food, atmosphere and friendly staff. A must-visit for pub fare with a twist. Curried fries and fish and chips are excellent. They have a great drought beer selection as well.

Found this place from BlogTO in the best beer list. Let me tell you it definitely has the best beers and the food was amazing. We ordered ribs and butter chicken poutine which we loved. Our server was amazing and we would definitely go back.

As a non-local, I happened upon this bar in the vicinity of Massey Hall about an hour before going to see David Sedaris. I was pleasantly surprised by the convivial scene; the place was packed but not rowdy; loud but not so loud that I couldn't hear my friend over the din. I didn't have much time so I asked the waitress to recommend a beer that would pair nicely with the lamb burger. The beer was excellent but sadly I don't recall what it was. The lamb burger was inspiring, served on soft pita bread with yogurt-garlic sauce and sweet potato fries. I will definitely return when I have time to linger, or perhaps when David Sedaris returns to town.

Great Bar! Amazing IPAs'. It was my first time trying it and I generally don't like beer but I loved it! Has an amazing pool table where we played too. Had this amazing dish with cheese and meatballs and veggies! I couldn't find the exact name on their online menu.

We went there Friday night to watch a live music. It was amazing. I loved everything, the food, atmosphere and the band. The bar is so charming. The service doesn't came to table to pick the order, but it doesn't bother me. The bartender was very polite and everything went well. Highly recommend!

Myself and a group of friends decided to try this place for dinner on Saturday and it did not disappoint! We were lucky enough to be given a large table in a quiet area to catch up, which was very generous of the staff to do. The drink list is extensive and fantastic (so many beer options!), but the best part was the food. Oh my gosh, I had the schnitzel sandwich and I will be dreaming about that sandwich for weeks. It was perfect. Everyone else in our group raved about their meals and I will definitely be coming back. Such a cozy and lovely ambiance - I can't believe it took me this long to go!

Went here for a quick drink, but ended up staying here for 2 hours. The staff are good and polite, served everything quick. Had sweet potato chips and it was actually chips, not fries. The dip it came with was goood. The place has a pool table (15$) and a lot of board games that you can grab when you are chilling here. The place is large enough for a lot of people.

Great vibes, great food, great beer. The food came quick and was delicious. The variety of cask and nitro ales is awesome and rare to find. Can't believe we've been in the city so many years and never knew about this place. Great basement pub vibes with pool, games, ok whisky selection, fireplace, variety of seating. Big fan, will be back!

Wonderful craft beer pub. Fantastic atmosphere and old school feel, so happy I finally made it here. It will be added to the must visit list.

Food and drink are amazing, love to glass and presentation of it with different ingredients - 5/5 Music 🎵 and DJ - sounds in echoing so not that much impressive in sound quality and song selection- 3/5 Ambiance: average as it’s basement and wooden frames and 2 or 3 pool tables (cues are limited and poor quality). Apart from that, Various type of Seating arrangements, but good area are reserved or occupied first. 3/5 Staff: amazing staff members with friendly smile . But they are less in numbers so some times you found slow service. 4/5 Parking: is a pain as it’s on kings street, also ready to pay high hourly rate on pick hours and weekends. 2/5 Extra: Non alcoholic options- very less and doesn’t seem great- this Score doesn’t matter for Bar or pub

The bar was recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. The food was excellent as were the drinks. The atmosphere was very good in an old basement. Awesome!

Atmosphere A+. Food A+. Service A+++. Found this place on Google Maps--as we're not from Toronto--and decided to give it a try. Amazing. We want to give a huge shout out to Alicia (sp?), our incredible server (truly talented and in her element... you remember service this good), but the great and pleasant service went well beyond just our server, including bar staff and kitchen staff. The location is in an old stonewalled basement and doesn't look like much from the street, but it is beautifully quaint inside with multiple fireplaces, intimate lighting, and two bars for those busier nights. Want to play pool while you wait for your food? $0.25 / minute, charged by the minute so you're not committed when the food does arrive. And speaking of food, I chose the Beef Ribs which take a little longer (25 minutes) but are more than worth the wait. So moist, tender, and delicious. My wife had Jambalaya, which she absolutely loved. Finally, the beer list is extensive with multiple offerings in every category (Ales, IPA's, Wheats, Sours, etc.), and they'll bring you a "splash" sampling, if you're not quite sure. They also offer take-out beer, if you're staying in a nearby hotel and are looking for a few cans to take back to your room. Overall, an amazing experience and sure to become a regular dining location every time we're in town.

A great place with great value. The main courses here are large, filling, and home-cooked. When I travel to Toronto I make sure to stop here - it’s a slice of Canadian food with a homey touch. I particularly recommend the butter chicken, as it’s superb. The poutine is excellent also, and I’m also a fan of the Bulgogi chicken. Usually an assortment of local beers available, and friendly staff make this an exceptional place to eat and drink.

The food was incredible! We had the butter chicken poutine and the Jambalaya - both were outstanding. I am originally from Montreal and have had my fair share of poutines. This one hit the spot! The Jambalaya was also flavourful, looking forward to returning and trying out other things. 100% recommend!

Great selection of delicious beers and mouth-watering food. I had the herbed fries and am craving them right now. I liked how the place is split into multiple sections so if an area might be too rowdy for you, there are other options. The music selection was great too! All around good vibes.

I ordered by phone for takeout and my order was prepared accurately and ahead of the expected time. The staff members were very friendly, the atmosphere inside was really nice and the washroom was clean. The food tasted great, even after 15 minutes of transport until we could eat. Everything we had was great and we would definitely order it again if given the opportunity.

This place has been around for a long time. Haven’t been here for a few years and am so glad that I came here tonight. The hostess was attentive and communicated well with us. We managed to get a table fairly quickly since it was almost nine o’clock, I guess the tail end of the dinner rush and just before drink time for the after-show and dinner crowd! The decor is cozy but the place can get quite loud. Our server was fantastic, friendly, energetic and efficient. Even with a busy restaurant she still managed to check on us a few times. I also noticed other wait staff clearing empty tables promptly. Sign of good management I think. Food came out quickly, tasty and good size. Also reasonably priced. Excellent selection of beers on tap. This will be my first choice for beers or a quick bite with friends in this area. Worth a try!

Been going here for years, very good food and service. I was with a group of friends having a drink for Christmas. I had the Pulled Pork Poutine, I asked if they could skip the green onions ( Not A Fan ). When I got it , it had no onions at all and was delicious !! Thanks to the Chef and Waitress !! Merry Christmas ! Everyone enjoyed themselves! Thank You !!

I came here for a friend's birthday dinner. The undergound cellar made for a nice lively ambience, and food prices were reasonable for downtown location. Lots of boardgames and billiards tables available. Sports games shown on big screen tvs. We had the cheese beer pot to start and I ordered the lamburger.

C'est What has been a landmark in St. Lawrence market for many years. The old C'est What was a good restaurant that featured live music. Today's is a good pub that has a food menu. The food was decent but over priced given the quality and quantity. The staff were super friendly, creating a good atmosphere.. bottom line if you're looking for a night out for live music, drinks, shoot pool, it is a great place. If you want to try include dinner consider eating at some of the better places nearby

Really good food! I had the beef ribs and they fell off the bone. My husband had the pulled pork mac and cheese which was also amazing, really recommend if you are in the area! The restaurant itself seems to have a lot of seating and it's not crazy loud which is nice.

Really enjoyed our Sunday evening meal there. A lowkey pub feel that got livelier as the evening went on. I had the butter chicken poutine and it was really good with quite a spicy kick which I loved! The thin fries were perfect to soak up all the flavour. Service was quick and friendly too. Will definitely be back for drinks or dinner again.

I attended the beer garden and it was amazing! The decor that is made up of nicely cut beer cans were breathtaking in front of the brick walls. The potter potty was the best one I've been to in my life. It was very clean and it felt very spacious. I don't want to finish without mentioning the food though. The pork loin sliders went well with the baked falafel that we ordered. The sliders' sauces did not drip on my hands.

Ordered Take out from here. Highly recommend it! Portions are perfect. Customer service was friendly and helpful. Try the Bison Burger!

  • 5/5 Stephen K. 11 months ago on Google
So happy to see that this establishment has kept to its roots. I still see beer lines being cleaned regularly (and you can tell), regularly tap rotations, and fairly priced even with inflation. Food is generally good. Fish batter from fish and chips was a bit salty and gooey for my liking. But the fish itself was great. Also appreciated the thick cut chips. I brought guests here visiting from the States and they had a fantastic time with the food and having beers from Canada.

Came to C'est What with a large group last night and had an amazing time. Staff were super great when communicating about a reservation, very clear and accommodating. We were in the beer garden, what a nice spot! Absolutely loved the atmosphere, the food was delicious and a large selection of drinks! Can't wait to come back soon.

Those ribs are on another level. It’s a different style and the likes of which I have never had before. Great beer selection. Great service. Also, great cocktails!

Nice bar with a wide selection of beer styles to choose from. They also have a pool table, but they charge per minute played. Was pleasantly surprised to see cask ales on the menu. Pictured is an American IPA on cask. Definitely worth a visit.

I went to C'est What? last week and had a great evening with an order of the Bison Burger and a couple of pints of Greenwood - New England IPA. The food was excellent and the beer was delicious. Aleisha, my bartender/server was amazing. She was very helpful with my craft beer selection, very fast in service and has a great attitude. C'est What? has great beer, superb food, a pleasant atmosphere and outstanding service. It is a Toronto institution to craft beer. I heartily recommend.

Still some of the best pub food you'll find along with an amazing craft beer menu -- and now that they have beer-to-go you can't go wrong. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Emma S. 2 years ago on Google
What a great spot! No doubt about it. Absolutely an amazing selection of craft beer, the OG bar of offering craft beer long before us hipsters made it ‘cool’. Food is worth it. Not your typical pub so-so food. The staff are amazing. Joan is something else, Maggie is very helpful and pretty cute too. Love so many of the other staff. A good spot to go with friends, on a date, or solo and sit at the bar.

C’est What is such a great little spot, tucked away at the corner of front and church. It’s been around a while and has a good following. Perfect spot for after work drinks and snacks. It’s big but also very cozy. They have a cute fireplace, ample seating and some pool tables. The beers are great and the food is good. Go check it out!

I came across an article from BlogTo, so many options of crafted beers to try out, and the food me and my cousin ordered last night was the lamburger which includes the curvy fries and the beef ribs with neatly cut potatoes. Taste still lingers in my mouth. I am not exaggerating lol. The service is remarkable too. Definitely a must try out.

I used to love going to this place but I recently went back and the customer service really took a dip. There’s an old guy with a pony tail who is pretty rude. It really takes away from the chill vibes this place used to have. Really disappointing cause it just takes one bad employee to ruin the experience
