Michael's
on
Simcoe
was
an
amazing
sensory
experience.
When
we
entered,
we
were
greeted
warmly
by
the
hostess.
She
took
our
coats
and
guided
us
to
a
very
cozy
table.
The
restaurant
was
warm
in
both
temperature
and
feeling.
There
were
fireplaces
tossing
soft
lights
throughout
the
dining
area.
The
seats
were
soft
and
sumptuous
grey
velvet.
The
tables
were
covered
in
crisp
white
linen.
Our
server,
Etienne,
truly
deserves
a
review
of
his
own.
He
was
that
wonderful.
Etienne's
service
was
exemplary.
He
was
incredibly
knowledgeable
about
the
menu
items
and
the
pedigrees
of
the
steak
selection
on
the
menu.
His
level
of
attentiveness
was
perfect.
We
were
never
left
waiting,
but
he
also
knew
when
to
give
us
privacy.
Our
table
was
kept
clean
and
our
meal
courses
were
timed
impeccably.
Although
it
may
sound
like
he
was
stuffy,
Etienne
was
very
pleasant
and
down
to
earth.
All
of
our
courses
tasted
incredible.
We
started
with
whiskey.
This
restaurant
has
an
extensive
library
of
spirits
and
wines.
There
was
almost
no
item
we
asked
for
that
wasn't
in
residence.
The
drinks
and
cocktails
were
categorized
by
country.
No
matter
the
formality,
there
is
a
bottle
that
would
satisfy
any
occasion
in
the
restaurant.
I
drank
elderflower
mojitos.
They
were
not
on
the
menu,
but
Etienne
assured
me
that
the
bartender
was
fully
qualified
and
could
make
any
drink
I
wanted.
I
asked
for
an
elderflower
mojito,
and
they
served
me
one
(well
a
couple).
They
were
delightful.
We
had
an
artichoke
starter
that
was
silky
and
crispy
at
the
same
time.
Then
we
had
a
selection
of
side
dishes
which
included
a
roasted
mushroom
medley
that
was
rich
and
had
a
nice
meaty
texture.
The
dish
was
a
wild
variety
of
mushrooms
lightly
seasoned
and
very
enjoyable.
In
addition
to
the
mushrooms,
we
had
sautéed
rapini.
Bright
and
garlicky,
this
dish
almost
made
me
want
to
become
a
vegetarian.
We
also
opted
for
the
truffle
mac'n
cheese.
The
taste
and
feel
of
it
in
my
mouth
was
life
altering.
This
pungent
cheesy
delight
was
everything
comforting
you'd
expect
from
a
true
mac'n
cheese.
Quality
cheese,
visible
truffle,
and
perfectly
prepared
pasta.
For
my
main
course
I
chose
the
lamb
and
added
the
roasted
bone
marrow
to
my
lamb
dish.
The
satiny
texture
of
the
marrow
was
indescribable.
The
dish
came
with
blistered
heirloom
grape
tomatoes
and
a
mint
pesto.
The
lamb
was
tender
and
flavorful
and
the
dish
really
came
together
in
a
most
pleasant
way.
Our
meal
was
completed
by
a
dessert
selection
which
was,
simply
put,
a
perfect
ending.
If
you
are
looking
for
that
perfect
celebration
spot,
romantic
spot,
or
fine
dining
experience,
this
restaurant
is
all
those
things
and
more.
