I was honestly shocked at how rude the hosts were - they walked right past me when I was confused where to go and stared at me blankly when I inquired how to get a table for happy hour service. For the atmosphere and the price I would expect more. This was on June 15th around 6pm. I have been avoiding the Drake but wanted to give it another shot, was honestly very disappointed. Some events seem good but I am not inclined to go back as the staff made it very clear they are not interested in my business. People who seemed visibly more wealthy than me seemed to have a great time. My actual server was lovely, and the happy hour drink was $10 so 3 stars by my book.

This place is awesome! It's right in the heart of the Art and Design District and it's buzzing with creativity. The rooms are small, but they're decked out with cool retro-style furniture and original art. The food is top-notch - I had one of the best burgers in town there. The vibe is casual and fun, perfect for a weekend getaway in Toronto.

Until recently I have never come here to eat, only to experience the night life. Their brunch menu is excellent. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were great. I ordered the chicken and waffles and a mimosa. It was quite good. Would definitely come back again and recommend to family and friends.

Very clean, staff are friendly. I stayed in the "modern wing" - decor is quirky and fun! Room was quiet, bed comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot. Cocktails in the bar after work - great service. The cafe was short on a few important things (no breakfast sandwiches!) but the food and the coffee was great, with friendly, quick service.

Did not stay for the hotel, but ate at the restaurant. We were seated outside. It was cooler, but they have heated lamps which made it cozy and feel warmer. The food was incredible. Extremely tasty, local ingredients utilized, and overall a great dining experience if you love food. The price is on the higher end, but you pay for the quality. The server provided suggestions which dishes were popular and we ordered them. We shared the dishes to sample a bit of everything and actually we were quite full in the end. A nice date night for couples or good for friends to enjoy drinks and yummy food.

Love the ambiance in the dining area and the adjoining bar has that elevated 70s retro decor. Service was quick and efficient. Our server was attentive without being intrusive and the music was a perfect volume, you can have a good conversation with your party. Food was very good. Perfect Eggs Benny. Overall..highly recommended.

While the menu definitely isn't the cheapest, I definitely think it's fairly priced considering the quality of the food. I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the Drake Specialty bfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, and potatoes). The everything was decent but the best part was definitely the sausage. My girlfriend ordered the french toast and my lord that was the best french toast I've ever had. Kitchen was a little slow but friendly service def made up for it!

I came to the Drake hotel to celebrate my birthday and everyone was immediately warm and welcoming from the second I entered the lobby. The guest service representative Asia and the awesome purple haired lady (didn't get her name) were wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure I had the room I wanted, with champagne in the room! Anything I needed was provided and the hotel was such a vibe. Won't be the last time i'll be staying at the Drake hotel, thank you so much for making this an unforgettable experience.

We had a group event here and it was great! They were very accommodating for when we had less people sign up than we initially thought, the food and drinks were amazing and our server Adrian was absolutely wonderful. We were around 20 people and they knew our names and was extremely nice and on top of it

One of the better burgers that I have had in a LONG time. I was asked how I would like it prepared and they were super excited when I said as rare as possible. Great service. A great post(ish) COVID experience.

I stayed here for the weekend with my husband and we both had a lovely time. It was our first trip during the pandemic so we were a little nervous but the staff was terrific, the rooms were clean and it was a very nice stay. The crowed was a younger than we were expecting but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I'd go back.

I celebrated my birthday over the weekend, amazing service, good food. I didn't stay at the hotel. The waitress was amazing, very attentive to the table, remembered what everyone ordered and was able to handle the bill with no issues which was impressive because we were a big group. Would 100% recommend this place for a dinner. My only other comment is maybe the food menu being more expansive. The drinks were brilliant though.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who is curious about it. I just attended a concert there and Tony the head of security treated us wonderfully!! Tony gave us the best treatment for our first event there. Plus not only Tony but the rest of the staff were amazing in general as well. The staff was super kind, attentive and accommodating towards us. The Drake hotel is a great overall establishment. Try it out everyone!!

A really unique, trendy place to stay at. It seems like they only have 1 front desk staff at a time so it can take quite a while to get served if there is a line or they are on the phone. They help you bring your luggage up to your room (classic wing has stairs only) which is nice however as a solo female traveler I would prefer to get to my room myself or not have the employee know exactly which room I am in (maybe only walk me to the first security door and don't ask which room I am staying in). They have several items in the room that you can take for an additional charge (umbrella, bathrobes, alcohol/drinks, snacks, a stuffed toy, etc.) which was interesting however I was mistakenly charged for the stuffed toy which I did not take. I received no email about it and had to call and inquire when I saw the charge on my credit card. They reversed the charge right away and I received an email receipt for the reversal. That night, I attended a holiday party there and the food was delicious! I also tried their mocktails and those were also really good. The location of the hotel is good. There is a streetcar stop right across the street which is very convenient.

Our service and food was literally amazing, we celebrated our anniversary at your restaurant, our server, Faegen, was so friendly, so approachable, and very knowledgeable! She helped us with our wine choices, and our food choices, and was an expert to provide details and strong recommendations. The French onion soup was phenomenal, artichoke dip was phenomenal and the drake burger was phenomenal. We even got a coupon to their photo booth. Truly an experience to remember. We’ll be back!

Truly very disappointed with the service at this location. I was very excited to make a reservations for me and 3 friends. Food I would give 2/5 (the mac and cheese is more of a pasta), drinks were good but expensive. I would have considered coming back again if it wasn't for the service and I don't know where to begin. When my main dish was brought over, I ordered the chicken and when one of the waiters brought it over he spilled the sauce on my white coat. His reply "how did that happen" after he tilted the plate towards me. No apology whatsoever. He says he will go find a tide pen for me and never comes back to our table once. I did get a new dish but still no apology or nothing, they just choose to ignore the situation. Even ordering a diet coke took over 30 minutes to get, as if it was forgotten as well. And one of my friend's cocktail drink was actually forgotten but after the service we had we decided it was just time to go else where. The table beside us got checked on more than us, it just put a sour start to our night that we were excited for. Every disappointing, next time I attend a show at the underground as well I will be making sure to get a dinner and pre-drinks else where. I also reached out to the Drake Hotel just saying how upsetting the experience was, they said they would get back to me and now 2.5 weeks later have not heard a word from them.

Remember to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking your room. This web site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and usually will have prices much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure will love it I'm sure! Came here for the High Tea & High Tops. Fantastic ambiance, live music and add-on for unlimited mimosas. I chose to order some cocktails (espresso martini was excellent) but my friends loved the mimosas (OJ and grapefruit available). High tea food was excellent and filling. Assorted tea selection to choose from as well.

I am not reviewing the hotel, I am reviewing the Drake cafe. I went there for dinner with my friend and I was disappointed about the food and cleanliness. I've ordered schnitzel and just so you know it's nothing special and doesn't come with any sides. My biggest disappointment was the washroom... It was extremely dirty that I just left and went home to use my own. The servers were nice, and food was nicely presented.

The Drake Lobby Bar is one of the smartest, most ingenuous things they’ve done so far. This spot is up and coming in the city and essentially a hidden gem at this point which surprises me because…it’s The Drake. And well, I’m surprised because a) They’re ‘popular’ so this should be smashing media right now and b) This is genuinely creatively awesome. The drinks are some of the finest in the city, with such high-end attention to detail, and sharp menu delicacies. I’ve been there twice now in the last two weeks. Why is the city sleeping on this?

Had a great experience, one of the add-ons wasn’t fulfilled due to their florist so can’t blame them for it and they gave us complementary cafe items for it. Staff was super helpful and attentive. Would definitely return here.

Great service, but the drinks seemed a bit watered down. We drank ALOT, and it didn't really hit us. Didn't even have a hang over. But the drinks did taste watered down. Food was delicious. Ambiance was great! And service was good too! Fix your drinks! 🥲

Went to High Tea + High Top brunch and had Kai as our server. From the moment we sat down, they were attentive, super friendly, and really matched our energy. Kai even went out of their way to give us a ton of local recommendations for shopping and fun. The food was good, the music was perfect for the environment, and the overall aesthetic of the hotel was on point. Would definitely recommend for brunch!

Did not stay at the hotel, but we went for dinner and a drink on the rooftop patio. It was our first time on the roof as we usually sit on the street side patio. As usual the service was amazing, very fun and engaged staff. I had what I always have at the Drake, their classic burger and fries. We also shared a dessert, which was a deconstructed black forest cake dish. Good atmosphere for a weeknight drink. Also helps that the Drake is close to home so there is a nice evening walk after to digest.

I recently went to The Drake Hotel during the day to get some work done and I met the friendliest staff member there. Her name is Aileen, she’s the Assistant General Manager and made me feel so welcome that I felt the need to make sure people know about her and the staff. I find The Drake Hotel hires incredible people who really make you feel special and at home. Members such as Ben, Tish, Jasmine, Tony are such good people and really make the whole experience a positive one. So if you are ever in the neighbourhood go in and have a drink and you’ll see what I am talking about. You’ll be pleasantly surprised!

One of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. Beware Patrik Werner especially. I had to follow up for months to get a response. We have been trying to book multiple rooms for the night of our wedding and trying to book a space for the rehearsal a couple nights prior. Both experiences have been painful with poor communication throughout. We were told we would get a certain space during the tour and after signing a contract they changed the space. Do not book your events here. I can’t imagine what they’d be like to deal with on the night of!

Worst brunch experience in a long time. We wanted to sit outside and they told us they had other reservations coming in (we also had a reservation for 6). We tried talking to different people with different roles but we were easily dismissed. We kept asking for water. At the end of our meal, we kept noticing that the tables outside were still empty. It took for us another talk with a waitress for a guy to finally come up to us and apologize for their lack of judgement/logic. The staff doesn’t even know basic etiquette and yet they expect 20% gratuity when they don’t even care about the quality of their service; what they were hired to do in the first place.

We went here for my dad’s birthday dinner. They have a very cute patio, super low key which we loved. They had a great selection of non alcoholic bevy’s it was amazing. We loved the trio dip, the steak and ribs. There’s even a cute photo booth inside!

The drag brunch was very entertaining. With great service from the staff and queens performing. The show was longer then expected, and the food was delicious with good serving sizes. Highly recommend going here!

Went for the High Tea + High Tops, food was great but 2 stars for the service. The experience includes 20% auto gratuity (typically seen on reservations for groups of 6+ not on a couple), but it was hard to get the attention of the multiple servers despite it being not busy. Would be more fair to just increase the price of the experience or remove auto grat!

I held back writing this review but I feel that several weeks is enough time to resolve an issue and the Drake has not been able to accomplish this. The last time I have experienced customer service this poor was when I interacted with an airline. I phoned the Drake with an issue that I was hoping they could help me resolve. I was assured that things would be taken care of, and then they weren't. I tried phoning back -- no answer. I tried emailing -- no answer. I followed up -- no answer. I was finally able to connect with someone on the phone again several days later. She was lovely but also couldn't get any of her colleagues to support her right away. I sent more follow-ups. Finally, I got in touch with the correct parties and instead of taking responsibility, they explain their internal processes/policies to me and how, despite my lack of visibility to any of these processes/policies, I'm responsible and they can't help. They offered a negligible refund, which it still seems hasn't been received. In short, I wouldn't recommend selecting the Drake for any dining/special event services because if you encounter any issues, you'll be on your own.

Fabulous hotel and great service! We live in Toronto but stayed here while relatives were at ours. Very impressed! It’s bespoke, great room service, and friendly. Super nice rooms with all the details and art details. We stayed in the modern wing and loved it.

A great place to start the night, and continue it. Lots of fun to eat here at the ground level restaurant. DJ took good care of us at the bar with special drinks, and the food was great from the kitchen I would recommend a stop in at least. Nice ambiance, cool scene and great service. Take in a show downstairs, comedy etc. I'll definitely return

Came here for dinner on the patio with a same-day reservation for 9 people on Thursday. We were told patio seating wasn't guaranteed but it wasn't busy at all and we were able to get a table on the rooftop which never filled up while we were there. At our server Jaz's recommendation, I ordered the summer nicoise salad. She did caution that it's a lighter meal but I still found it filling enough. It was tasty, loved the jammy eggs, sauce gribiche and bits of potato chips for added texture. Our table also shared the dips & things platter, which I thought was just okay. Jaz was awesome and friendly - she was super patient as our party slowly trickled in, and was very helpful when we had a million questions about the menu. We asked her if it was possible to turn down the volume of the music (our millennial/elder millennial ears are sensitive) and she was happy to do so. There was just a bit of confusion when the food arrived as it was brought out by different servers - dishes were placed in front of the wrong people but not a big deal. The rooftop patio has really nice comfortable vibes, although I'm sure it was also due to it being a quieter, slower evening. The menu indicated that groups of 8+ would receive one bill with 20% gratuity for the whole table, but she let us pay individually without us prompting. Again, likely due to it being a slower evening. Prices are on the slightly higher end.

Thank you for a great stay! The rooms are very nice however the shower leaked and so we were walking through a puddle. The service was very good and everyone was helpful and kind. Special shout out to Adrian on the rooftop patio, his service, humour, and attention to detail was next level. Thank you Adrian to contributing to our evening!

We had a lovely mini-vacation at The Drake this week to celebrate our birthdays and watch This Is The Kit in concert at the Drake Underground. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant both nights. Service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and attentive. This is a fun and interesting boutique hotel that you will enjoy if you want something other than the big chain hotels. The location is also really nice even though it’s a bit farther from downtown Toronto. The neighborhood had a nice vibe with lots of young families, diversity and a feeling of community.

Went here for a work dinner with a group of 15 people. The apps were amazing - came out piping hot and super delicious. Definitely recommend the shrimp, tacos and truffle fries. I got the Drake burger for the main and they asked if medium was okay which it was but what came out was really undercooked for my liking. And lastly the service was very slow… not sure if it’s because we had a larger group but there were very long gaps between drink top ups and just generally with the food coming out.

My partner and I eloped this week, and to make it a bit more special we booked a 2 night stay in their classic suite. The booking process was smooth and Bailey answered all of my questions, great customer service! I also booked the room a year in advance and had the chance to meet Bailey at check out - having an employee for a long period of time makes it seem like they are treated well. I hope this is the case! Upon arrival they had a bottle of sparkling Rose for us which was a nice touch. In-between our ceremony and dinner, we had cocktails in the lobby. I made a mistake and we should have gone to the other bar but Jeremy made us cocktails anyway despite not opening for another hour. The cocktails were also AMAZING! Thank you Jeremy! Truthfully, there were a few hiccups on the hotels end during our stay. I spoke to the general manager (I forget her name! I’m sorry!) about the negative experiences I ran into and she went above and beyond to make it right.

I absolutely loved this place and it's exceptional staff who went out of their way to make us feel so welcome and special. Everyone there was so friendly and lovely. We were greeted at the door by Jordan who was so sweet and kind and made us feel right at home. We had a bite to eat and some drinks in the Sky Yard . It felt very comfortable, relaxed and homey. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer which was really really delicious and the summer salad that was perfect for this time of year. The drinks were great too! The manager Gord went out of his way to make sure we felt happy as did Brian behind the bar. They were so thoughtful and gave us a great experience there. Our server Shea was also delightful ! Thank you everyone at the Drake for all you do and for the delicious food and drinks. I appreciated the experience there so much !

I absolutely love The Drake Hotel. I have had the distinct pleasure of staying at the hotel multiple times over the years and each time it was a special, restful and unique experience. To say that all of the staff are respectful, kind, diligent and overwhelming nice would be a sincere understatement. The rooms are so unique and comfortable and the area is so nice to explore. The food and drink available at the multiple bars/lounges/restaurants on site are amazing and I suggest you try them all. I love the available in suite options. Highly recommended and support local.

Oysters, steak tartare, and scallops & pork belly were all delicious. Reasonable asking prices for the quality of the menu design. Zeke gave me friendly service, was attentive to me despite her having a large party and other tables simultaneously. I found all the staff at this hotel to be nice and helpful. Great ambience and music selection. Saw a concert at the underground after dining for $20 which felt like a steal. Good sound for a small intimate venue. Will be back again for more!

Really enjoyed my overnight stay at this hotel. The staff are amazing, and helpful. I would highly recommend dining on location here as well, as the food and service is one again a step above. My room was nice and clean. Despite all the music coming from downstairs at the club, it was barely a faint whisper in my room which can be drowned out by the rooms HVAC fan.

Front Desk Manager, I forgot his name since my visit, was excellent. All of the staff did a good job 👏 Room was 301, shower door leaks, needs some sort of latch to keep the door fully closed and to prevent water escaping the shower. The room was intimate. Great for a crash pad. Not good if you need to wake up early, the bars and clubs nearby are very loud. We were on vacation and hitting cocktail bars so it was all good for us. Would visit again but not for formal occasions or with old curmudgeonly folks who don't want to watch their partner shower at the foot of the bed. The water closet is both a megaphone and not sound proofed/sealed at all, be comfortable with your/your sleeping partner's bodily functions or be absent. All in all, great time, great staff, and quirky rooms within a decent walking distance of a lot of cool stuff.

Had dinner at 8pm on a Friday night and we had an awesome time. The food was outstanding, drinks were awesome and the setting, decor and music were really nice. Photo is the Basil Smash cocktail, a take on the gin Tonic with a leaf of basil, really fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend the Drake Hotel for a date night.

Remember to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your resort. This web site will compare countless booking websites and typically will have rooms a lot cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This hotel is the best rated in this area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure won't be disappointed. The restaurant is an amazing place to go for date night. 5 stars to service, food, and the whole ambience of the place! Would absolutely go back. Also, check out their fun photo booth for a keepsake :)

This review is for the restaurant only. the Drake Hotel restaurant has a pretty diverse menu, which allowed me to try both the burger and the mussels with red curry and fries, both of which were good but not memorable. We also tried the cocktails, most of which were more exciting than the food. We ate indoors on a not so busy day, and the ambiance was gorgeous but I wasn’t very please they gave us a high table. But then again I never complained. Service was otherwise really attentive and fun.

  • 5/5 Janna M. 1 year ago on Google
We started out in the lounge while we waited to be sat in the Sky Yard for the rooftop vibes. Our bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable when it came to cocktails. We each shared a whiskey based cocktail. I think mine was called "Lovestoned" and it was a strong and delicious slow-sipper. She recommended we go dancing after in the Underground since it would be free cover for us now that we were already inside the hotel. I have been to the Underground multiple times over the years, and it's always a good time, but we skipped it that night. Once we got to the Sky Yard, the summer breeze, cityscape views, incandescent lights along with the music made for a perfect backdrop to the end of our date night.

The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is twice in the 4 nights I stayed, a private party rented out the restaurant and rooftop bar and I wasn't allowed to eat or drink there. Other than that it was excellent. The location is great if you like to be surrounded by numerous, good restaurants. I had a king room, not large but super nice. The bathroom was a nice treat. Definitely recommend the Drake.

The food is always good, the patio is amazing, I’ve had the same server on the patio a couple times now and they are probably one of the best servers I’ve had in the city. They are super nice and good at their job. Love it here!! The veggie burger on the lunch menu is fantastic.

My Lunch Experience at The Drake Hotel Last week, I had the opportunity to visit The Drake Hotel, a landmark in Toronto that is known for its art, culture and hospitality. I didn't stay at the hotel, but I decided to stop by for lunch on their outdoor patio. It was a sunny day and I enjoyed the shade and the breeze. The waitress was very kind and attentive, and she recommended some cocktails for us. I tried the Drake Margarita, which was refreshing and tangy, with a hint of orange and lime. My friend had the Drake Old Fashioned, which was smooth and smoky, with a touch of maple syrup. The cocktails were well-made and complemented our food. I ordered the Drake Burger, which came with a soft roll, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. The burger itself was nothing extraordinary, but the Drake sauce gave it a nice flavour. The fries were thin and crispy, but they were hard to pick up with my fingers. Maybe that's how Canadians like them, but I'm used to thicker fries. I had a pleasant time at The Drake Hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a casual and cozy place to eat in Toronto. The patio was nice, the service was friendly and the food was satisfying. It was a great way to spend an afternoon in the city.

We hosted back to back events and it has been an amazing experience, our hostess Angela was amazing, made it seamless! The food was a hit with our guests especially with the Taco bar, huckleberry pie, sliders, etc! We will be back for sure, as well as I'll be bringing friends on a Friday or Saturday night. Thank you again!

My best friend and I love going there. We just went there for her birthday dinner. The sushi was fantastic and they make a mean spicy margarita! The only downfall was our server was quick to rush us even though some of us weren't finished eating. That wasn't a nice feeling. But overall we do love going there

Went for a weekday breakfast and it was nice and quiet. Service was good, friendly, and accommodating (though the guy at the front checking vax status didn't seem too happy) and the food was yummy. I wish they had more items on the menu than the 5 items they had, two of which involve avocado and I'm not a fan so I really only had 3 items to choose from. A little pricier than I'm used to but maybe that's just prices going up with the pandemic.

I enjoyed my stay in the classic wing of the hotel. (It's loud at night, so bring earplugs, join the party downstairs, or stay out late!) The modern wing is beautiful too! I enjoyed the lobby bar/ living room area. Great design and vibes, friendly people. Next time I'll get a room on the modern side!

I attended for brunch, and despite having a reservation I had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Following this, I was seated and had no fork, both my order and the order of the person I went with were either missing items or had the wrong items despite them attempting to charge us extra for them ($5 for cheese). No one attended to refill my coffee at any time, the portions were meager but tasty.

Normally a person who likes to rave about my culinary experiences. The food was fantastic kitchen did a great job food was amazing. Service was disjointed food came out good 15 mins after one seat got his main and waited for the rest of us to eat. Drinks were brought out wrong and then the bills were mixed up with items mix matched from different seats. I think this is a good place for a date or small group. Drinks were good and wine selection was great service was a big miss for me especially after dropping over 200$.

We live in the neighborhood and love coming to the Drake for their great food and cocktails but have never experienced as great service as we did on Sunday with Gregory! He was so kind and attentive and made us feel so welcomed, even my dog loved him! Thank you Gregory for your great service! :)

An excellent place and great ambiance. The food was top notch and the experience was phenomenal. The waitstaff was pleasant and a joy to interact with. Would definitely go back for seconds and then some.

My wife and I had a great stay here on Labour Day Weekend of 2021! We just got married and the hotel treated us to complimentary champagne and mimosas. The drinks & brunch were good at both the Drake Sky Yard on the rooftop and at the Café on ground level. Our room was on the smaller side but comfy + clean + trendy. Thanks!

From the moment I arrived I felt taken care of. I could definitely tell I was in a high end hotel. The manager, Amy, greeted us at the door and was very welcoming and warm. We got a corner spot on the side street patio where we could people watch to our heart’s content. Our server, Faegen (not sure if I spelled that right…) was super knowledgeable. I was sad to see that the chicken and waffles was no longer on the menu because I had been told by a friend that they were something I should not miss. Thankfully, our server pointed us toward the sweet potato hash and the French toast. It was the perfect sweet and savoury combination to share with my husband. I also have a few dietary restrictions and the kitchen was able to accommodate them without any issues. I will definitely be coming back. Also, can we talk about how delish the Drake Caesar is? Definitely the perfect brunch cocktail. So glad my friend recommended this great brunch spot.

The Drake is THE place to stay in Toronto. I recommend it highly as the Drake has it all… A great vibe, an excellent contemporary art collection, stylish, quiet, intimate, comfortable and well appointed rooms, along with friendly and very attentive staff. Food and Drink at the Drake are top notch, with excellent sushi, cocktails, and the best Chicken Noodle Soup anywhere! Customer Service at the Drake is excellent. Notably Nikola at the front desk who is very attentive and helpful each stay, as are many of the other members of the Drake team we encounter in their restaurants and bars . The Drake location is terrific too with lots of culture and hip/popular shopping options surrounding it - all easily walkable along Queen Street.
