When you walk in the lobby there's a sense of grandeur and cleanliness however, don't expect your near $500 per night room to instill the same feelings. The room is quite small.... the balcony rusted. Our bed had torn sheets and our balcony screen door was ripped. The decor is still stuck in a time warp and honestly I would compare the room to those at the Comfort Inn. The bathroom fan didn't work (not much of a bathroom either). They charge more for parking than the public parking garages. (If you drive a truck you will not fit in their garage). There is no coffee maker and no fridge. Their hotel pub closes at 11 p.m. They said they'd bring us a fridge but alas it never came. The room service menu is extremely basic and only available for breakfast until 11 and then dinner. Location is all this hotel has to offer really. A young man on the elevator joked "I think I got chlamydia 3 times since I checked in." That being said , they do have some updated rooms with new paint for $75 extra a night but those rooms still are not worthy for that price. We won't be back.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! My partner and I stayed at Chelsea Hotel for a New Years Eve getaway, after it had been recommended by a colleague. Although it says that Chelsea Hotel is a 4 star hotel, our stay suggests that it was a 2 or 3 star hotel. The location is excellent, but the staff, facilities, and amenities were all below average. Front desk staff were not helpful and one even deliberately lied to my face. I am sure it is extremely “professional” to lie to guests and patrons. I have received better service from a motel. When I complained about it upon checking out, the staff I spoke to did nothing. The lobby was grand and lush, but the rooms and hallways were all below average. It simply was not worth the price. All in all, it was a regrettable experience. I would not stay there again.

We stayed here for one night with our children. The kids pool and play area were a key selling point for us choosing this hotel. Unfortunately upon arrival we were told that the pool is undergoing some renovations and that it was closed. We were allowed to use the adult only pool with our children which was nice but the kids play area was also closed so one of our main reasons for choosing here was unavailable. Had we known before checking in that this was the case we could have rescheduled our visit for another time. The pizza slices from the restaurant were very under cooked and the large pizza they claimed to have was also unavailable. A minor annoyance but just seemed to be a theme that weekend. The staff was very quick and helpful when we had a small vomit incident and it got on the sheets. They came right away, were very friendly and switched out the bedding. Making sure we had everything we needed. The room was nice but the windows and patio could use some updating as it was a cold night and frost was building up on the inside of the patio. The room was still warm with the furnace despite the cold.

Where to start? We paid over $200 for one room. They said it would have a queen bed, but this bed was more a double than a queen. The bathroom was tiny, the bathtub looked old and run down. The beds were luckily good enough for one night. The TV was tiny. We had a balcony but no way to access it other than to go through the window. The breakfast was good. There was no microwave or fridge in the room. Their vending machines were empty, they only had ice in some machines. The lobby is beautiful but the rooms are far from beautiful. They were undergoing renovations, but I don’t think it’s unfair charging someone over $200 for a very poor room. $80 hotels are better than this one. I don’t recommend this hotel. I’m sure you can find so much better for much cheaper

Rooms are clean, but dated. Bed was very cozy and comfy. Pillows are the best! Lovely shower with great water pressure. Having a balcony was a treat, and I really enjoyed the views of the city during the day and especially the lights at night. Great downtown location. Thanks for offering a discount for hospital stays and for extending it to include inside parking as well.

Agreed with the other reviewer. Don’t be fooled by the pictures or the grandeur look of the lobby because the rooms are total opposite. Although it must be said that the hotel is doing renovations to upgrade the rooms. Right away we noticed a musty smell in the small old elevator going up to our room, then a different musty smell walking through the hallway, and finally we were greeted with a stale, moldy smell in our room. The bathroom was not cleaned (or cleaned but not properly), there was toothpaste on the counter, and who-knows-what stain on the toilet seat. The shower was dripping. We had to wipe and sanitize the entire bathroom before feeling comfortable enough to use. The heat was working but hard to control, it was very hot in the room despite turning down to 15 degrees, and we could not sleep. Overall not a very pleasant experience. Not sure how this is a 4-star hotel. Only good thing is the location.

Let's start with the positive things. The service is friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel is fantastic! The lobby is gorgeous and looks luxurious and I think it's fantastic that the hotel as multiple, colour coded, sections with elevators that each go to a different section of floors which cuts wait times for the elevators. Though, the hotel is so big and has so many rooms, we had to wait quite a long time for the elevator to arrive to our floor multiple times. That's not a problem, but it becomes agitating considering the amount of elevators the hotel has. Our room had an amazing view and the bed was very comfortable. Besides that, the room was pretty small for the price I paid. The room didn't have a mini-fridge, the phone didn't work. After we checked in, a handyman who worked at the hotel barged into our room and tried to fix the phone line. I am wondering why this happened after we checked in and not while the room was unoccupied. The room looked like time stopped here in 1990. It really needs an update! All-in-all our stay was okay. But I feel like I overpaid for what I got.

March Break Family Fun. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and were really amazed how busy the hotel was yet well managed. The pool and corkscrew slides were a hit!! Kids and adults alike. A few good points 1. The pool staff was really friendly and I think they did a great job managing the large numbers. 2. Hotel has a great location, is steps from everything, the subway, cinemas, nightlife, dining. Overall no complaints really but a few things for visitors to be aware of. 1. This is a really old property, easily 45+ years and the wear is showing on the outside. 2. Rooms are generally small compared to the newer more modern hotels. Even their deluxe room that we got was not large or spacious, just ok for a family of 4. 3. Basic amenities. No microwave or fridge provided. You might get a fridge if they have one. 4. Higher floor rooms had a decent view and with a balcony. 5. Dine in at their market garden was pricey but food quality was good. Overall a fun stay.

First off, I’ve read a lot of negative reviews but this building almost is 50 years old so there will be dated rooms and as the sign at the elevator says, rooms are being renovated. This is not an overnight job! Parking: right under the hotel, so very handy. Check in: lively lobby with a welcoming robot, complimentary lemonade and popcorn. Very pleasant and efficient fellow checked us in and gave us a warm welcome. Our room ( 1282 ); very clean, no “bad sheets”. Kettle and instant coffee packets provided. A bar size fridge ( not stocked ) suitable for storing personal items that need refrigeration. We didn’t use it as it wasn’t required on this stay,. Balcony….remember, it’s 50 years old so it is worn, but that really doesn’t matter. Having a balcony with a patio door, that allowed us to skip the AC and have fresh air is a bonus in a downtown Hotel. Location: as we were attending Harry Potter, it was a perfect location for walking. Breakfast: we took advantage of an included breakfast for two in our booking, which allowed the $74.00 for two to be included in our room fee. Well stocked buffet, quick service at the Omelette Station. We would certainly stay here again if attending a production in the downtown.

Got a deal from booking online, but for a hotel that is normally $500+ per night it’s almost laughable. Lobby is gorgeous and front desk staff are courteous and friendly to your face, however the rooms are far different. The rooms are quite small, barely larger than the bedroom in our house when you concerned 1/3 of it taken up by the bathroom. Fan/AC were not operational at all, and the room was overly hot and muggy. Had to keep window open for the entire stay, which is not ideal in a downtown Toronto location. Room also had worn down damages. One of the light fixtures were coming out of the wall. The tap and shower head were flawed and falling out, but the front desk staff did have a maintenance person come up and secure them during our stay after we raised the concern, which is nice. Did not try any of the restaurants on site, parking was somewhat reasonable price considering the location. House keeping staff was a great and responsive to requests. Did over hear the front desk staff making fun of guests after they had walked away, would suggest the employees simply be more aware of their surroundings if they are going to let off steam. Overall not the worst experience, but would stay at a different hotel if going back to Toronto.

My family and I recently stayed here for two nights. The location is fantastic. And I found the staff throughout the hotel to be really friendly and professional. The room was average looking and a bit small. But it appeared clean and good enough to sleep in. We had a balcony which we all enjoyed using to take in the city skyline. I would recommend this place for families as it was quite family friendly. The pool area is quite dated but the kids really enjoyed the water slide.

The price doesn't match the rooms. Two of our towels were dirty, the carpet had for sure not been vacuumed. Overall the cleanliness was not up to the price point you pay for the rooms. Long wait for the elevators almost every time (during a mid-week stay) and a lengthy wait at the check in desk. The staff was very nice and the location is ideal. Lots of great food options within walking distance. It's very nice to have a room with a balcony, as well!

Good location. Room was a good size and bed was very comfortable. However hotel is dated throughout, the windows in bedroom were draughty and heating is noisy. Spa area and pool quite nice and peaceful. Breakfast was nice although not included and a bit pricey. The omelette station was great. Winchester on the front door I would like to give a special mention to, he was so helpful with directions and friendliness. Unfortunately the check-in reception staff were a bit miserable. Homeless people wandering into hotel which needs to be addressed.

Great location.comfy bed. Room was not clean. Deck is filthy. Carpets dirty and need to be replaced. No fridge, Instant coffee. Limited plugs. I understand that Covid effects everything, however it does not hide lazy cleanliness. This Hotel is a great place to pass.

Rooms are spacious, service is fantastic and location is awesome. You will find Television, kettle, locker, Iron , Iron board, hair dryer and bath tub in the hotel. They do not have refrigerator and microwave in each room. You will find so many Club, Bar and Restaurant near by this location. H&M is 10 minutes from the hotel so you can go and shop there. Hotel provides complementary breakfast with the stay at the ground floor near the front desk and they have good restaurant at the ground floor which provides good INDIAN CUISINE. They have fitness centre, SPA and swimming pool at the top floor of the hotel. They have beautiful view from the top floor. They have good space for car parking. This hotel is kid friendly and pet friendly hotel. I have shared few photos which might help you to book this. I hope you have a wonderful stay in this hotel. Thanks and Regards

We stayed here for a concert. The location is okay. For being advertised as a high-end hotel, sorry it is not. To pay $500 for 3 adults for one night, it is not worth it. We travel often and do not remember any other hotel that had double beds not queen or king in the room, there is no fridge or microwave or coffee pot just a kettle and instant coffee. The bathroom had 2 face clothes, 2 hand towels and 2 bathtowels. No cups or glasses in the bathroom and only 2 paper cups in the bedroom. There was no handicap parking and asked for an accessible room nothing. We would not recommend this hotel. It is really only a hotel for traveller's how travel for business. And then have to pay $39 for parking. Breakfast $27-$33 a person. This is not family oriented. This is a hotel that once was the best now not sure.

Very dirty they don't have very clean environment. Even though from outside it looks nice place to be in but once you get into rooms it's below expectations. Molds in washroom dirty curtains, sheets ect. During this time of pandemic everyone is extra conscious of hygiene but not chelse hotel.

I had a really pleasant experience staying at The Chelsea, It was clean and well kept, the beds and pillows were very comfy. Their reservations department email back right away which is amazing and reception staff were also super nice and friendly. I’d stay here again :)

The location is very good. Unfortunately, even if they say it’s a 4 stars hotel, it’s more like 2 or 3 stars. The cleanliness is good but the room was tiny. The bed was more a double than a queen. The bathroom was tiny, the bathtub doesn’t work properly. The staff is not very welcoming. There is not information about amenities in the hotel. The pool is ok, but the slide was not working. Not room service. There was no microwave or fridge in the room. Their ice machines were broken. The lobby is beautiful. They were undergoing renovations, maybe visit after. Right now it’s not worthy. For the price you can book another hotel in the same area.

Hotel is under construction. Had to move rooms due to smell during my first stay and during second stay battery lock on door died and had to wait close to an hour before they fixed it and I was able to get back into my room. Heating/cooling system does not work correctly and room was very hot despite being set cold. Do not recommend this hotel

The Chelsea Hotel Toronto is in a dream location for many, right in the heart of Toronto. The staff on arrival were friendly and welcoming, however I am not sure why there are no self check-in machines, as it would make the process a lot quicker, and the lines a lot shorter. When we got to our room, on first looks it did seem slightly dated and small, not the best. It would be fine if you were spending the day out and experiencing Toronto, but not if you want to spend your time in the hotel. On our first full day we tried out the family swimming pool. However, it wasn't that great. The pool was packed to the brim with salt and chlorine, and the wallpaper definitely needed a refresh. It also would be good if the slide was open during the week and not just the weekends. Overall, the Chelsea Hotel has good service and is in a good location, but the hotel could do with a refresh.

Regret staying here. $500+ a night I expected better. Room doesn't even have mini fridge. Room was not clean, one bed obviously slept in. No robe, missing towels, bathroom dirty.. Hot tub not hot. One of key cards not active... 45 minutes to get back in. Finally unpacking and notice the room condition. An hour later get moved to a new room. Need to prepare for meeting tomorrow still, to find out no guest wifi, so had to tether to phone.

Rooms are very clean but on the small side and run warm. We had our thermostat set to 62 and the sliding door open (in november) The water slide and pool are great for the kids but maybe need a bit of an upgrade. Hot tub was Luke warm at best. The main issue we has was breakfast was so expensive. It was good but for 2 people (one adult and one kid) it was $74!! I suggest eating elsewhere if possible. Lots of construction going on outside if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Our stay at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto for Christmas was nothing short of exceptional! The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist, they went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and memorable. The only complaint we had was the heat in the room was intolerable. Luckily we had a balcony room, which we left open the entire five-day stay to cool the room down. Unfortunately, that made the sound of the city and neighboring construction impossible to sleep past 7am without earplugs! The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of exploring the vibrant city. The location was central in the entertainment district. We loved the separate indoor Adult pool and jacuzzi on the top floor while children had their own on the lower floor with a tube slide! The restaurant, deli, and bar was great! It's a true gem in the city's hospitality landscape, and I can't wait for my next visit!

Lovely staff that are extremely helpful and personable. Unfortunately the heat in my room must’ve been broken, was so hot in there. For ~$250 a night, I’d expect some complimentary soaps/lotions etc. and a clean shower curtain as well. Shower was hard to maneuver. Otherwise, had a great view and lots of TV channels to choose from which is a plus for me. Delicious food!

Stayed here in November 2023. Great location, great service, decent rooms. The rooms were pretty nice, some of the interior could be updated but good for the price. You pay 20$ a day for parking which isn't bad considering it's in downtown Toronto. Beware of where you stay in the hotel because we stayed facing the side of downtown and I would say 2/3 nights we stayed were noisy from the music and the people. For the price it was great!

I had an enjoyable stay at the Chelsea hotel Toronto. The staff was polite, friendly and accommodating. My hotel room was quiet and clean and the bed very comfortable. The rooms would need to be renovated in a near future yet the hotel comes at great value. It is centrally located, within walking distance from all attractions. Hard to find another hotel downtown TO at a reasonable price.

Unfortunately room 2301 did not have heating and it was -8 the night we stayed. (2301 is a corner room so two walls are exposed to the outside which made this quite a chilly stay. The appearance of the rest of the building was really nice especially the decorations for the holidays in the lobby. We did get a lowered (compassion rate) however, if we were aware that meant that normal amenities like a fridge and heat were not included... we would have just paid the extra 20 bucks and stayed at another hotel.

The location was good, lobby is gorgeous, breakfast was delicious but the room was absolutely not worth the 230 we spent on it. There wasn’t even a microwave or mini fridge and the tv was tiny. There was a balcony but no door to access it. The bathroom was tiny and very shabby and rundown. I would not recommend this hotel, you can get better for way less

Was in town for a surgical procedure at Toronto General, so i booked the Chelsea as it is so close (3 minute walk) and we would be close to hospital if any post-op issues. The front desk staff was amazing at checkin and at checkout. The room was what I expected. The beds were comfy. The room was a little chilly, but we compensated by upping the heat a bit, beds were comfortable especially since I was in fairly considerable pain post-op. I know they do have a really good selection of options in the restaurant/cafeteria near the lobby but would’ve been nice to have a microwave and fridge in the room as I was not up to going out. Loud in the rooms, I could clearly hear other guests talking & laughing in their room, wherever they were. Even on the 18th floor, lots of street noise, but to be expected being right by 3 hospitals (ambulance sirens, etc). Overall I really love the Chelsea when you’re here for medical reasons. But I agree with other reviewers that for the price, I have stayed in nicer rooms with microwave and fridge at other hotels for less.

Would NOT recommend staying here. It says 4star however its more of a 2star. The rooms say queen bed but they are double beds. The washrooms and rooms are tiny. Not worth the price. I booked a 3 days stay and there was a construction/grilling noise next room that started at 7am and woke us up. Service is poor. This hotel is just running coz of its location. Otherwise worse than a 2star. Nothing like the pictures.

Staff were amazing. Every person was kind, helpful and went out of their way to make our experience better. Travelling as a family there were lots of additions for kids- from small toys in the dinning room, kids pool, bunnies etc. the hotel has some construction happening as they improve some rooms I believe the rate was discounted some for this reason. I was beyond impressed with the hotel, for the price, location and service our two night stay was fantastic!

The first 30 feet of the Hotel was open, clean, warm, and welcoming. Our check in was seamless. The staff were friendly, pleasant and approachable. The lighting out front of the lobby, when we pulled up was so amazing, we had to take pictures of our car as it glittered. At first glance, we did notice some need for attention and updating to the walls and carpet on the 17th floor where we stayed. The water in our toilet was not running, but was quickly fixed. We did have a mix up in the morning with cleaning staff not realizing we hadn't checked out yet. These minor inconveniences, would have warranted a lower starred review had it not been for the perfectly amazing hospitality staff who approached us in the checkout line. He asked about our stay and was open to hearing all of our concerns. He then took note of every one of our concerns and made our visit whole. The staff, hospitality and all around stay was nothing less than amazing. Thank you so much for being so attentive and being good humans.

Centrally located, possibly the best possible location that one can expect in downtown Toronto. Extremely efficient check-in staff. Two restaurants including a bar, all reasonably priced. The room rates are a bit on the higher side, but that can be expected in peak holiday season. The breakfast has an awesome layout. Clean rooms with good bed and related equipments. Plenty of parking, but please note that your vehicle should not be more than 5 feet and 6 inches in height. Breakfast and parking is additional charges , kindly note. Parking is Canadian Dollars 40 per night and Breakfast is Canadian Dollars 33 per night. If you are traveling as a couple, ensure both names are listed in your email. Enjoy the stay, it’s worth every cent that you spend here. There’s a friendly robot who welcomes you in the Lobby and there is a special check in counter for kids :- a first i have ever seen in the world.

We are currently staying at the Chelsea hotel and felt I should leave a review as I was disheartened reading previous comments prior to my stay. I must say that the room is spotless and the decor is fresh. We have a decent size fridge, tea/coffee-making facilities and an iron and ironing board. We have eaten breakfast in the hotel on several occasions and the buffet has very good selections for both the continental and cooked breakfast. The location is excellent and wouldn't hesitate to book to stay again.

From the online customer service to assist my booking requests to my check out at the end of my trip, the staff at The Chelsea Hotel were amazing. The rooms are clean, comfortable. The location was a dream to access either shopping, eateries or public transportation. It seemed very family friendly (I did not have my family with me this trip but saw many there during my stay). The bar/restaurant TI was SO good and service there was also impeccable. I will absolutely be staying there again for my next trip to Toronto.

It was fine, the location was nice, but the room was very small and lacked a mini fridge/microwave. The bathroom was also very small, but functional. Interacting with guest services was convenient and easy. They would benefit from renovating the fixtures in the rooms, and the Air conditioning layout and the plumbing layout were fairly poor compared to what one would expect. (The owners were receptive to my feedback, and in response I have added a star to my review)

We love this hotel because the rooms are nice, the staff is great and the location is awesome! My kids love the robot in the lobby and that they always have popcorn and juice at check-in. My kids also love the pool and family room. BUT, they have rabbits in the family room. You cannot pet them or even look at the them. The “recreation staff” person who was at the desk told my son to back up because he was looking at the bunny. She said he was nervous. The rabbit was at the glass and didn’t hop away. My son was simply looking. Then a little girl came to look and she told the girl to stop touching the glass because she just cleaned it. I don’t get it. Why have them there? I feel bad for the bunnies and the kids that just want to look. And what a waste of money. Many hotels have family centres. If someone took the bunnies home then this hotel would save so much money not having to have a staff member just sit at the desk doing nothing but watching kids look at the bunnies. You don’t need someone there 24/7. I don’t get it. Sorry this is a rant but this is the second time we’ve stayed here and everything is great but this situation. Perhaps we just got a woman who didn’t like kids. Not to mention my son worked hard on assembling a Lego robot only for her to dismantle it as soon as he walked away from it. She couldn’t wait until we left? Sorry this is so long.

Hotel and staff we great. Room was very nice and all the extra amenities were great to have access to. Very nice location. No microwave in the room surprisingly but it did have a nespresso machine. Would rate 5 star if it were not for some small issues. 4 people booked in the room and we only had 4 pillows, most people use more. We were able to get 2 more pillows but no more due to them being short. Room was sparse on power outlets or places to charge devices. Would recommend people bringing a power bar. Not all the elevators were working and they had long waits at times. The elevator to the parking garage always had stuck buttons forcing it to always go to floors that were not needed and slowing down the use of it.

That's what 500$ a night gets you..looks like blood on the side of the couch and look at the filth on the bed skirt. They should be ashamed of themselves!! I planned to stay 1 week. We left the next day and had amazing experience at Hilton by the airport. If I took a picture of everything disgusting in the room, it would have been about 20 photos. The lobby experience and staff during check in were professional. The parking lot check out clerk was as well. The arcade was main reason we stayed and they failed to mention it wasn't operational. People were buying food at about 11pm and the staff were tired and wanted to leave so they began shutting down the food even though people were clearly In line still wanting to spend money to buy it. The male manager was rude with it. Again, the rooms...disgusting and I should have demanded my money back and walked out immediately upon walking in.

came here after a night out for a birthday, so we weren't looking for anything special, but for a 4 star I expected better. you won't come back with bed bugs, but it's so dated and old that you'll hesitate before you touch anything, sit, or lay down. you probably have a more modern and luxurious bathroom and bedroom at home than you do here. the pics on the website were misleading, and upon arrival you'll look at the infographics on the wall and realize those pictures were of a planned renovation that hasn't been completed yet. i suffer from anxiety and as stupid as it sounds, I felt a pang of fear and was taken aback by what the room actually looked like. this wasn't even the cheapest hotel I've stayed in. broken vending machines, loose electrical outlets, double beds instead of queens, flat pillows, lazy silicone sealing on the shower tiles, and those fake crystal twisty sink handles with one for hot and one for cold. whether or not you would still stay here depends on the person and their tastes. but your health isn't in danger if you do. you might just be uncomfortable. something about this hotel just rubbed me the wrong way and I didn't feel right, even months after my stay.

Staying in Toronto for the first time on a business trip, I had to be led by the photos online of the hotel and sadly it seems as though I was catfished by some photos of refurbished rooms. What I arrived to at 11pm at night after a cancelled (and delayed replacement) flight was very different. I’m not certain that the room I was in had been updated at any point in my 32-year lifetime. The lampshades were stained and also appeared burnt around the edges, and there were no sockets in the vicinity of the bed for charging phones overnight (pretty standard nowadays I’m sure you’ll agree). The hotel lobby was consistently busy regardless of the time of day so the hotel clearly gets the custom and suits a certain type of clientele but sadly I was not it. The location was great for visiting the places I needed to for work, but I would pay more attention to the negative reviews in future (rather than trying to be optimistic!)

I very reluctantly want to leave a very poor review of this hotel and their staff and management. After we showed up and we’re in a room for 20 minutes with the heat on the highest setting, we called the front desk. They told us the heat was broken. They then informed us that it wouldn’t be fixed for two weeks. This is a large hotel with more than 400 rooms. I can’t believe they didn’t notify the guest before their arrival of this essential service in a hotel to have heat. We called down the next day and confirmed it still would be another week. The final straw was upon checking out, the printer couldn’t work and they told us it would be 5 to 10 minutes to get a copy of the bill. I then asked to speak to the manager and the clerk promptly told me without checking that the manager was probably in a meeting and not available for another 30 minutes.. I don’t come to Toronto often, but I’ll make sure I avoid staying at this hotel again.

The room was nice along with the bar/restaurant in the lobby. Unfortunately, the A/C could not get the room cool enough. The majority of the staff was pleasant and helpful minus the check in staff. The 2 gentlemen working were not friendly, informative or helpful. Everything else gave this a higher review but if just for those 2 employees if would have been 1 star.

We were a little unsure what to expect due to the reviews but WOW! Definitely a 10/10. Check in staff were great, the room was amazing the maid service was excellent beds made/towels changed daily/toiletries replenished. The option to eat was great and the prices very reasonable! Location was perfect, we like walking so enjoyed the walk to harbour area. We would definitely recommend and if we come back we will be staying again! Thank you

The location is wonderful if you're coming to Toronto as a tourist and want to go shopping. That's probably the only positive aspect of this hotel. The rooms are sub-par, the carpet is coming loose in many places and the lampshades in my room had dry blood on them. The bedding was clean, and the mattress was comfortable. I went to have a shower in my room the morning after I arrived and the dirty towels from the last guest were hanging on the shower curtain rod. I didn't notice this until I opened the shower curtain, as they were hidden by the curtain. The staff were friendly but weren't super helpful when contacted about room issues. I definitely wouldn't stay here again if given the choice.

The hotel was alright , very large and very crowded . It just depends what you are looking for . I like a more personal touch with more in room amenities . The location is close to the office which works well. The bar was nice for a nightcap . The breakfast was very expensive and a bit of a free for all with so many people - o only went once because it gave me such an lefty before starting work . The room was pretty limited , no water bottles provided , no robe , no fridge and no room service . If that’s cool with you than you’ll be fine . These are things I enjoy when staying especially for a very busy work schedule.

Stayed here for 1 night with my boyfriend and had a horrible experience. The thermostat in the room was down, and the temperature was 18 degrees from check in till 7 PM. After calling the front desk, they said they’ll call maintenance to fix the issue and nothing was done while we left for the evening. Called again once we returned since it was still freezing in the room, and they had someone come and look at it. The employee mentioned the thermostats are down on this side of the building. At this time (11 PM), he suggested we move to another room or he can bring a portable heater. We took the portable heater since it was quite late and we already settled into the room so we didn’t want to move everything. This employee was pleasant to deal with, he brought a heater in 15 minutes or so. Probably the only decent service we received during the stay. Unfortunately, the portable heater was so loud all night that we could barely fall asleep. At this time, we realized there was no water in the room fridge, not even for purchase. You apparently cannot purchase a water bottle anywhere in this hotel!! The ice machine room only had Ice and a vending machine selling pop. Thought I’d go check the front desk, I went down and asked the employee, he said they don’t have anything for sale and that I try the Elm bar in the main floor. Waited there over 20 minutes, only for the bartender (girl with long brunette coloured hair) to rudely ignore me and serve the other customers sitting at the bar repeatedly. She then finally acknowledged me, and said they don’t have regular water but only sparkling water. I didn’t have a choice but to purchase this, since it was either that or nothing. Im writing this review at 1AM, unable to sleep in this room. To be very honest, other than the location being near many restaurants, there’s nothing great about this place. even not considering the heating issue, the rooms are very old fashioned! I won’t be returning.

The staff at the Chelsea Hotel were excellent, from booking, until check-out. We required some special help which was offered without reservation. Staff went out of their way to ensure our comfort and contentment. Second visit was equally good. We had left something behind on our first visit which they quickly located and delivered to our room. The Health club was in excellent condition as well. Most of all it was the outgoing staff who made these visits memorable. Cheers to you all!

I was hesitant reading the reviews but I have to say, this is a great hotel! Incredibly clean, fantastic location and the view from my room was breathtaking. The balcony was a welcome bonus too! Bed was also very comfy, and parking was easy. (They advertise 5’6” max clearance in the garage, but if you call they will clarify the actual height is more like 6’ for most of the garage, meaning most SUVs can also squeeze in - mine did, no problem). It’s a slightly older hotel - a fridge would have been nice and the TV could be newer… but honestly, the fact it was a clean, comfy room with great service was more than enough for me. Don’t hesitate to come here!

This hotel is alright, definitely nowhere close to some of my favourite stays in the city. Room and washroom was very small, and cleanliness was questionable on some things. We put down 3 guests in our reservation and only received 2 towels (something we should not need to call down for), and many amenities are closed or have limited hours. Rooms could definitely use some upgrades, but the beds were comfortable enough for a few nights stay.

It was good experience with Chelsea hotel. The room service is too good and also they follow all the rules of covid 19. Aww the room is little bit small as per the price but it was very beautiful and I will give 10 star in cleanliness. Overall if you want a budget hotel in downtown then it is the best choice.

  • 3/5 Uma C. 2 years ago on Google
Location is actually pretty good. That, and the price, are probably the best selling features of this place. The staff was okay, friendly but you know that's what a hotel needs. As for the decor and the rooms? It's outdated like it's stuck in the 90's or early 2000's. There's quite a bit of wear and tear on a lot of the surfaces but what do you expect for the price? It's definitely not a 4-star place. But a decent one if you happen to be stuck downtown and need a place to sleep for the night.

Every staff member we spoke to was incredibly nice and helpful, especially Sandra at the front desk. The rooms were regularly kept clean and the pool was a nice bonus, and the location is perfect. The entrances and lobby looked amazing, definitely felt like the big city experience! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone, especially young adults like myself who visited Toronto for the first time.

Great location downtown Toronto! 1,000 rooms so very busy on a Friday .. Check in was a wait (so many people) .. Should have more staff on the check in desk .. Older hotel but comfortable .. No fridge in room (can call down for 1 but on a first-come-first serve basis) .. Not all doors are open for re-entry once you leave so pay attention .. Underground hotel parking available .. 5 min walk to Eaton center

We stayed here twice and both stays are exceptional. The rooms are clean. The location is central and a walk away from places I want to go. I feel safe walking around. The check in is hassle free. The staff are nice. Hoping to go back soon.

the staff amazed me, they are extremely friendly and great. The room was cozy and clean. The location is great with plenty to do nearby. I forgot my toothbrush and an employee told me to call the operator to have one delivered to my room... they came within minutes and it was free of charge. Extremely appreciative of the staff.

The cheapest (i.e. affordable) slummy hotel downtown Toronto. If you don't care about old carpets which you wouldn't touch barefoot; rusty "details", unstuck wallpaper, and wobbling faucets in the bathroom; windows which were cleaned maybe in early 2000s last time; you may stay here. Beds are comfy and seem really clean. Yet, I didn't bring a UV lamp though. :)

Beautiful hotel, very clean and bright. What topped it off was the amazing hospitality and energy from the people behind the front desk. We had the pleasure of being checked in by Jonathan, he was very friendly and helpful despite how busy the lobby was at the time. Will be staying here again!

Don't recommend. Booked a one night stay to visit the Toronto Winter Market with my sister. Lobby was beautiful, but rooms are very dated. Front staff were rude. I understand with the holidays it gets stressful, but the attitude when asking a simple question is unnecessary. Also no one was enforcing masks. Originally stayed in the "green elevator" side of the building. When we noticed the tv was not working we were "upgraded" to a room on the blue side. The "upgrade" was a total downgrade. While there was a working tv, the room was missing a microwave & mini fridge. The carpet was stained and peeling and the view was much worse. For almost $300 a night, I would spend the extra $$ and stay at a different hotel close by.

  • 3/5 Ilyas O. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent staff and service. However the hotel itself is dated and requires some major reno. We had toilet that wasn't working properly and the thermostat was mounted right next to the diffuser which cycled every couple of minutes throughout our stay. The Ac/heater was pretty loud too. Other than that it was perfect.

We booked a room that included breakfast and parking. The staff was absolutely fantastic. They were so welcoming. We expected a continental breakfast but were delighted to have a full meal.

I stayed here for one night and was not impressed. The room had a stuffy smell, the TV was small and did not connect to Netflix. The interior of the room was outdated, and the furniture was worn out. In the bathroom, we did not receive hand soap and the toilet was so loud after flushing. The hotel is not very high so the rooms do not have any good views of the city. An alarm woke us up early in the morning, in which the parking garage and lobby were evacuated. Overall, we expected a better experience for a 4-star hotel. Would not recommend it.

Simple rooms if you need a nice place to stay for the night. Had a small issue with the room's cleanliness but it was quickly resolved without incident, and I was given a new room plus a discount for the trouble. I really appreciated the quick thinking of the staff who resolved this issue promptly to ensure my experience is not compromised. Will definitely be back if I am in the area and need a place to stay.

I was a little apprehensive booking here as I read the latest reviews, however, I decided to give it a shot. I planned a mini staycation and I was impressed with the customer service checking in and throughout my stay. The room was clean and spacious. This property bas what you need in a great location . I would consider this hotel to be a 3+ star. I definitely would stay again.

  • 4/5 The K Green S. 1 year ago on Google
4.5 stars. The only deduction was for the lingering smoke smell that I will give the benefit of the doubt that it happened when a smoker was out on the balcony and brought it in the room. But the small room was enough for us to sleep and bathe and had essentials. Location was great and price was very reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful and hotel was clean and lobby was awesomely done with restaurants and all. I would recommend this hotel.

My daughter ( 16) and I received on the 1st night, on the top floor with a nice view a 1 ( small ) queen size bed room, which was a disaster! Luckily after a complain the next morning we received a nice 2x Queen size bed room on the same floor with the same great view! Staff was very helpful and friendly, towels and bedding was clean! Beds were pretty comfortable! But...the carpet carried a lot of dust, especially in the corners! The carpets in the room hallway didn't seen a vacuum cleaner for a long time! Furniture and windows need a much better wipe down, especially in times like now!!!! A big plus was to able to open the sliding door what leads to a balcony! We ate one time in the Market garden, what wasn't that bad but we got charged 2x on my credit card ( i regonize it when I arrived at home)!!! Parking is $30 day, but got charged more ! Location of the hotel is great! A little rooftop with a nice view! Drinks in the bar are good!

We stayed here for two nights recently and it was a great family hotel. Most areas were well maintained but some hallways could use a little TLC. Kids loved the robot in the lobby at check-in, and the free popcorn and lemonade. They really loved the water slide, which made the hotel the best ever for them. Looks like they have a nice children’s sitting program as well although we didn’t use it. Pool has a lifeguard and I witnessed them check the pool chemicals each night, so that’s a plus. There’s a separate adult pool. Breakfast was really great - but only adult breakfast was included in our stay. I thought that meant kids eat free, but that’s not the case! The room was fine - pretty standard. Shower could use a refresh, and beds felt small but were comfortable. Great location and friendly staff. We will consider staying here again next time we’re in Toronto.

We had a great family experience here.. the kids loved the pool the most, but the breakfast staff and front desk staff were extra nice touches, being very friendly to kids and even bringing them each a toy at the breakfast table. Our room was comfortable and we had no issues with service. We were able to walk to several attractions within minutes.

I recently stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with my family. My children thought this was the best hotel ever because of the kids check-in, playroom, arcade and toys provided in the suite. The suite is a bit outdated and the bathroom is small, but it was clean and for the price we paid, it was reasonable. The cleaning staff was friendly and always available to give us additional towels etc as requested. Front desk and front door staff were also pleasant and very helpful.

I am not sure why this hotel has so many bad reviews. Although we only stayed 1 night for a quick trip, I was very happy with my stay at the Chelsea Hotel. The hotel is quite large, and has a beautiful lobby. The rooms are not 'brand-spanking new' but they are clean and comfortable. We even had a balcony which we were not expecting. Overall, I would recommend staying here, especially that it's one of more affordable ones in town.

  • 5/5 Maisum A. 9 months ago on Google
Rooms are a bit dated and worn but still clean overall. Location is amazing, just steps away from the Eaton Center, Young Dundas square, and a subway station. The hotel featured 2 separate pool areas. The kids pool area was nicely themed with a water slide and hot tub. Adult pool and hot tub was situated on a high floor with spectacular views. Great stay overall, will definitely stay here again.

A nice hotel! Really big. The rooms are nice and clean with plenty of channels on the TV. The location is perfect for travel, it’s close to Dundas Square and public transportation. I would recommend staying here if you are traveling and need a place that’s is perfectly centrally located.

Been here a couple times. Decently priced hotel given the location. Check in line can be pretty long when busy, but it moves fast if all desks are open. Rooms are a bit dated, but its nice to have a room with a balcony. Internet speed was good, but shower pressure definitely needs some work. Staff are helpful and friendly

Nice hotel, rooms could do with proper cups rather than paper, single use only. Would have been nice for a biscuit or something to have with a brew. This hotel has at least 3 entrances, if you have got a tour booked, make sure that you know which entrance they will be at as they will leave without you. Concierge was hopeless, so grateful to a fast moving taxi driver. Pricey for breakfast, even if you just get a coffee. Had a drink in the bar and he tried to charge us for a bottle of wine rather than a small glass... thankfully we noticed. Nice for a few days but wouldn't want to be here for a long stay.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel last month for my birthday weekend. We were really excited to stay here, given the pictures and accommodations we saw online. However, upon arrival, we quickly realized we would not be having the experience we originally pictured as the pictures were misleading. They have plans to renovate the hotel and use these pictures to make you believe this is where you'll be staying. This is only an idea. The rooms were hideous and old. Bed had 4 pillows that had no fluff whatsoever. The bed itself was hard. The room came with no towels, we had to request them and got quoted a 45 min wait. The actual staff were friendly though. That, hot water and it being in downtown were it's only positives.

Nice size room, good location, okay view and friendly staff. Our room had a mini fridge and a very 2006 looking TV (I’m guessing I had one of the non-remodeled rooms) Bathroom was small and had a dirty towel hanging from a corner of the shower. Honestly not a bad place to stay; reasonable priced and good location. I’ve stayed at worst places.

First and foremost, the staff are AMAZING. Every one we encountered provided great service with a smile, so I want to stress my only issue with the hotel is the quality and cleanliness of the room. Location is also amazing, with it being only a 3 minute walk to Eaton Center. My only gripe with the hotel is the age and quality of the rooms. In no way do the rooms look like the photos. Room are somewhat clean, but not to the level of a four star hotel. There was an odor in the enterance way and closet, and the toilet was constantly running, but at least once the washroom door was closed we couldnt hear it anymore. In reality, I would say this is more likely a two or three star max hotel. Overall, it's a great hotel due to the service and location. But if you're going to stay here, expect the rooms to be dated and nothing like the photos. Also, make sure to bring slippers to wear in your room as I didn't feel comfortable being barefoot in my room.

I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Hotel Chelsea for providing an outstanding level of service during my recent stay. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the hotel staff. The attention to detail in ensuring my comfort was truly remarkable. The rooms at Hotel Chelsea are not only elegant and tastefully decorated but also impeccably clean and well-maintained. The amenities provided added an extra layer of comfort to my stay, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout. What truly stood out was the exceptional customer service. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs and answer any questions I had about the area. Their recommendations for local attractions and dining options were spot-on, making my trip even more enjoyable. The central location of Hotel Chelsea was also a major plus, making it convenient to explore the city. I couldn't have asked for a better base for my visit. In conclusion, my stay at Hotel Chelsea exceeded my expectations in every way, thanks to their excellent service and commitment to guest satisfaction. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a top-notch hotel experience.

Check in experience was professional. Room is decently sized with a balcony as well. However, the balcony had a terrible view (see attached picture). The blanket also had a spot that smelled like puke. The front door was leaking light into the room, more so than the blackout curtains. I tried contacting the front desk on three separate occasions and got no response. Checking out was a mess, looked like the hotel was understaffed. If leaving luggage with the bellhops I would suggest having cash in hand or going earlier than the checkout time. There was no line or order, bellhop simply went to whoever had cash in hand first.

Well staffed. Friendly and professional. The location is great! The lobby is nice! The rooms were in need of some updates. The shower was old and a bit rusty. The carpet and chair were from the 1970s. Mini fridge would be nice. The beds were ok. Rates are quite high for what is offered inside the room. Balcony was a nice feature.

Our room was clean, very small which wasn't terrible as well as the bathroom. Loved having a balcony. The problem was the bed was ridiculously soft, I did not sleep a wink despite being exhausted from our day and my husband only slept a little and not well. I was also not happy to find that there is no fridge in the room, I have stayed at cheaper hotels that have them. This was actually the first time ever having no fridge in a hotel room. Not impressed.

This hotel was booked for our vacation through a travel agent, and if we were able to pick a hotel and area, this wouldn't have been for us, as it is too busy and loud of an area. The staff are all helpful and polite, which is a great bonus to the hotel. The rooms were excellently cleaned and tended to by the room staff during our visit. The lobby is well presented but can be confusing as there are 4 entrances to the hotel so can get lost or confused easily of you can't remember which entrance or exit you used when you left the hotel earlier in the day. Personally, for our vacation, the hotel wasn't suited to what we required. It is based near the downtown area and between the university and hospital area, so unfortunately, you do hear sirens a lot and enough of the traffic that is going past. Sadly, the breakfast wasn't up to scratch either for the price that was paid for the continental option. I found the milk for the cereal to be warm and not kept cold. The selection was rather poor, too, in my opinion. The hotel room balcony was dirty and had cigarette packets and dimps on there. There is a lot of bird droppings on all the balconies which ideally need cleaning, this was disappointing with the rubbish on the balcony. The hotel will have different needs for different people, so it will live up to different expections, please do not let this review put you off visiting this hotel.

Although it's a beautiful lobby, and staff are friendly... The room itself was very disappointing. I had stayed at this hotel previously on business a couple years ago and returned here with family for the Labor Day long weekend to have a completely different and disappointing experience. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the air conditioner in the room was very loud, every time it clicked on or off it woke us up. None of us slept well. The door to the balcony was jammed and didn't open, the room itself looked worn out worn and in bed of some touch ups / maintenance. There television was tiny, and overall cleanliness was seriously lacking. When we unrolled the bath mat there was a lump of hair, the toilet had not been cleaned properly with dried of urine from the previous guess. Overall not what I experience in the past, and certainly not what we expected.

Great room, decent view and good location for price. But what isn’t a good price is the breakfast, spent $74 for 2 people. Eggs were wet with yoke not fully cooked, sausage was barely cooked that made it hard to eat, bacon undercooked legitimately inedible. Both my girlfriend and I threw up after the meal. Only good thing is the fruit and lunch meat, which is not worth what breakfast costed. Don’t waste your time getting food here it’s not going to be good and will be overpriced. I’ve stayed twice both times have been good just unhappy about the quality of food at breakfast never ate here last time and gave it a try this time but should have just gone across the street. Disregarding food the hotel is a good stay, pool, hot tub, rooftop patio, inside is nice and clean. Would stay here again and is a great home base if that’s what your looking for.

I expect more from a 4 star hotel. Property is beautiful and has many amenities. Beds are comfortable. At the same time, no microwave in a room. Internet is painfully slow and cuts out regularly. My room was too cold. It was barely 60 F outside. When I called to front desk, they told me that heating is disabled during summer. No portable heaters either.

On my first night out of three at Chelsea and already disappointed by what I’m seeing. The second we sat on the bed we heard the frame start creaking. The wallpaper is literally peeling off the walls, the room is horribly outdated and the water pressure is awful. The TV is small and outdated. The fact that this is considered a 4 star hotel is baffling. We are paying way too much to stay at this hotel on a low floor, and I’m already wishing we booked a different hotel. I am so disappointed, seems clean but everything just looks gross. This place feels like an old dingy motel you’d see in a tv show, the lights are all dim and yellow bulbs. I was really looking forward to this trip based on the online photos but I absolutely will not ever book again.

"It's a very large family hotel - you may not find it terribly peaceful!" my booking agent warned me. But I found the Chelsea never seemed dauntingly large, it was fairly quiet, though busy, the restaurant was very good, rooms comfortable and quiet, and the staff helpful and very friendly. The pool facilities are second to none. I'm very glad we booked the Chelsea for our stay in Toronto. Tea and coffee facilities in the room, hurrah!

I had booked this hotel on August 13th for my stay on October 27 - 30, 2023. When we checked in, we were notified that the king room we booked was not available. The only rooms available were ones with two double beds. I have been in a relationship for almost 10 years with my partner and to be only given the option of two double beds was disappointing. We were initially offered only a standard room with the doubled beds and after some more pleading, we got the executive room, still with the two double beds. Hoping to be on the positive, we went to the hotel restaurant hoping for a better experience, but the staff there really did not pay attention to us and seemed bothered that we even came. Now to the suite itself - it is sadly disappointing in that this was advertised as a 4-star hotel. The lobby is nice, but the rooms are so small. For the price of almost $1000 for 3 nights, we expected something more than what you would find in a 2-star hotel. This is with the upgrade to the executive suite. I cannot imagine what the standard rooms look like. The only saving grace is the receptionist, Laden(?). She was helpful and kind and understanding of our experience and helped us start the process for a refund as we could not possibly stand to spend that much money on a stay and be disappointed in the whole experience. We quickly booked with the Broadview Hotel for the rest of our stay. If you're looking for a nice hotel, look elsewhere and save the headache and cash. The shower also feels like you're showering in a prison shower. The tiles do not look like they have been cleaned for a long while.

Booked a room to visit family at the nearby hospital. The staff were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. I interacted with 3 different staff and everyone one of the impressed me and I work in service! Well done and thank you!

Never stayed here, only cone for meetings and conferences here. The hotel is always clean. I assume the rooms would be as well. Staff are helpful. Location is good for someone staying in the city. Congestion in the city is another issue, but that is no reflection on this hotel.

I got to the hotel and my room was double booked. I went to the desk and they fixed it right away, however I had made a request on my booking that was never fulfilled once they changed my room. I also tried calling the concierge desk and was on hold for over 30 minutes to ask for a knife and fork. Overall the room was clean and the location was perfect. There is a lot of people in the lobby at all times which is a little unusual.

I was at this Hotel for a conference in the City and I cannot recommend it more highly. If you are looking for a hotel with staff who will work hard to answer questions or get you what you need, I was there for two nights, and on the first night I needed a microwave for my dinner. I didn't see one that is openly available for the guests to use, but the staff bent over backwards to find one and warm up my food for me. (Special shout out to Mike who is the person who ended up finding the microwave for me. There was another staff member who was working the front desk and I didn't catch his name so the whole front desk team should get some love from management. (not a pizza party something give 'em something that reflects the quality of service they provide AND the quality of service you expect them to provide!). That may seem like baseline customer service but you can tell by how they carry themselves that they are going a bit more than necessary not because it's their job, but because they want to make the stay as pleasant as possible. (Also just because I didn't see the microwave doesn't mean there isn't one for guests, I just didn't see it). If you are trying to figure out who the front desk person is, the microwave thing happened Oct 19th after 10pm, I hope that helps a little

The check in line was insanely long - maybe that was just Saturday evening in Toronto. The hotel was easy to find. We walked from Union Station because the subway was closed for some work over the weekend so if the subway was going it would have been better. But the walking distance from Union and to local restaurants was great.

Rooms are dated but clean. Has an awesome adult pool and exercise equipment. Had a delicious dinner in the restaurant. Make sure you ask for a higher floor, Great view of the city from there.

Stayed here for a second time 18 years apart and all the great things about the hotel are still there but it's now very dated, we stayed at the beginning of November and the roof deck we were looking forward to taking photos from was closed for the winter this wasn't mentioned anywhere apart from a A4 piece of paper on the roof deck door. The hotels ground floor and location are 4 stars as advertised but the rooms and family friendly aspect are high 2 star due to old rooms and nothing for kids over 14 to do, the staff in all the areas are 5 stars so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if the rooms were renovated.

The lower floor rooms are very loud and mine smelled of cigarettes smoke. Requested a change of room today as the noise from the street is unbearable and they put me higher up in a much nicer suite with no extra charge. Very happy with the outcome as I am staying for a long period and am now very comfortable. The downside however is the cost of parking for guests, which is obscene. It's $44 a night! Nearly fainted when they tried to charge me that when I arrived.

Rooms were decent from 5 feet away but up close, my sliding glass door didn’t work. As well as my screen for the balcony that I booked the room for. The coffee warmer was cracked on the bottom and leaked all over the counter, couldn’t find any paper towels in the room or any staff nearby, so I had to use a towel. But it’s fine because I was charged 50$ for said towel. Staff in the bar downstairs were extremely rude but other than that, nice place.

I recently worked with Celeste, from the events coordination team to work towards planning a family celebration of life and I want to say I was thrilled with the exceptional client care received and the package that was presented to our family. I would highly recommend this hotel, it is located in a great area, affordable, and very comfortable. They had a wide variety of event spaces to at a variety of price points and a lot of great options regarding catering. Highly recommend considering them.
