Great location: financial district, directly across from Union Station. Service: excellent, amazing and kind staff. Honestly outstanding. Poor for business: there is a “business centre”, however it doesn’t have a desk or a single chair. It’s simply a printing station with hours. We asked is there’s anywhere to work in the hotel, there isn’t. And they converted what was the main lounge into a loud restaurant (legit in the middle of the hotel across from reception). They also got rid of the famous staircase with the clock…so the hotel has lost a lot of its old charm. Main Elevator over East elevator rooms: I’ve stayed in both (and the gold floor), the East is the less loved part of the hotel. If you want to go to the pool you’ll have to walk across the lovely in your swimwear past tons of guests in their suits. Honestly, make sure to request that your room is accessed via the main elevator. Adult hours at the pool!!!! This is amazing, from 6-7 and 21:00-22:00 is 18+ only at the pool. So, you can go and relax at the end of the day. Unfortunately the jet in the hot tub were broken and we weren’t told, but it was still a hot tub! For the price and outstanding service I’ll be back again. I’ll just be sure to ask for a room via the main elevator.

We booked a room at the Royal York simply due to the convenience of location and proximity to Union Station. The bathroom was extremely cramped. The toilet almost seemed like an after thought that was squeezed in between the tub and sink. You had to reach under the sink for toilet paper. There was only one spot for plugging in electronics, all other outlets were full. What was particularly disheartening was our checkout experience. Reception staff were extremely rude and unfriendly. We were chastised for removing items from the mini-fridge to make room for our dinner leftovers…we did not see the apparent sign that said not to do so (if we had seen it, we obviously would have followed instructions). We were spoken to extremely passive aggressively and told we should have called to order a regular fridge to our room…never in my life have I heard of having to order a fridge! When I asked for a printout of my receipt I was told that there wasn’t one due to booking through a third party (which is fine, however, the tone with which the information was delivered was completely unnecessary). On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable but that is a small consolation for the price we paid and the treatment we received.

This hotel was beautiful and the service from the front desk and lobby bars were amazing. I feel bad giving 3 stars for service but I’m taking into account the overall experience for the stay. The rooms were a whole other experience! The bed OMG it was the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on! I think if I would have slept outside I would have been more comfortable and probably saved my 300$ night. On our second day there when we got back to the room around 4pm our room wasn’t serviced. I didn’t think we needed to call and request for it to be cleaned since we didn’t have to do that for the first day stay over. Anyway, I called and requested the room to be serviced I was told someone would come by to take care of it. We flew to Toronto internationally and I was exhausted I really wanted to take a nap after the cleaning crew came by so I waited and waited. No one ever came the next day we checked out and had an early flight to catch I didn’t have time to let the desk know about the experience but I feel like people should know what someone paid almost 1K for a weekend really got from this place. I hope that someone reading this review sees this and thinks twice about wasting their money here! As a corporation you shouldn’t be charging people luxury prices without the basic comforts of a good mattress! Pathetic.

Wow! What an amazing stay i had here. Beautiful hotel and the service was outstanding! In the middle of everything and plenty of places to see and eat around you. Although this place has great food and what an amazing Bar! Im definitely planning on coming back to the same location for a second experience!

The hotel's location is great, the common areas are stunning. Everything is vintage in the hotel which I love for the restaurant, bar reception etc... Unfortunately the rooms are too. The Luxury room had a small bathtub with a shower. The shower had very little pressure and you would either shower with boiling water or extremely cold one. There is very little space in the bathroom (for storing your bathroom goods). The wardrobe space is good. Beds are very comfortable but the pillows are nothing special. The room has only a few power sockets which I found a problem when travelling for work. I think the hotel is too expensive for what you get. Really recommend breakfast and the restaurants but unfortunately not staying there.

Apart from the size of the actual rooms, I have nothing to complain about. The Toronto Fairmont has 2 bars and a restaurant in house which are really fancy and are open till late. The staff at the hotel is very helpful. The rooms themselves are very clean and well kept. Really nice location to stay if you want to spend a few days in downtown.

Had the opportunity to stay here overnight for a work event. Great atmosphere and you can feel and see the rich history of this establishment. Great service from their valet team and the front desk. Their housekeeping crew were also professional and courteous. The only issue I had was the constant noise from the hallway. You can hear every little step/conversation the people had passing my room. Also the mattress is a bit firm for my liking. Just a slight discomfort while sleeping. Despite of it, I’d love to come back and stay for a longer time.

We were married at the Royal York Hotel this past May, and had nothing short of a FANTASTIC experience. We were married in the gorgeous Imperial Room. We picked this room due to it's incredibly rich music history, knowing we wanted a live band for entertainment. The venue was beautiful, the food was incredible, and the staff were extremely professional. The staff at the Royal York supported us with all the details, and ensured a flawless, stress-free event. We were able to add in our own elements like our Indian late night snack catered by The Host, our cake from Bobbette and Belle, as well as entertainment by St. Royal. For those who stayed at the hotel, our guests truly enjoyed their room experience. Thank you Royal York - we can't wait to celebrate our anniversary here for years to come!

We had short but amazing getaway. The hotel is amazing historical one almost 100 years. Through different floors you will see a lot of photos show its history including Queen Elizabeth and other world leaders. The hotel location is perfect in front of Union Go Station 🚉 ( Via and Go Trains as well as TTC Subway 🚇). 10 min walk to Toronto Harbour front as well as all activities in downtown.

I’m SO disappointed in my two night stay. I was given a room in which the washroom is not heated. There is a very large badly insulated window to the outside making the stone and marble frigid at night and in the morning. I put in a request that this be looked at and was told someone from maintenance would come. No one came. The first evening there was no warm water for a shower. The room has an adjoining door and absolutely no sound proofing. I have spent two evenings listening to the “active” occupants next to me. I also hear every word they say which seems a violation of their privacy as well as my own. The desk drawer broke the first time it was opened. Will never stay here again.

I attended the Royal York for a NYE wedding and booked a hotel overnight with my partner. We had a standard King room suite. that had a king sized bed, desk, and sitting area. It was the perfect amount of space for 2 people. The room was very clean, the staff were lovely and the rooms were quiet when we wanted to relax. In some hotels the walls seem so thin and you can hear everything in the hall or next door, but I didn't notice much noise which was nice. Check out was at noon, which was great and they even gave us a late checkout of 1pm. They made it easy for me to check out from my room. The hotel itself is grand and luxurious. It has been newly renovated, but keeps the historic vibe live and well.

Nice premises of course, but quite a pretentious service team. My favourite was “You know, we are a full service hotel” (Sarcastic tone included)- implying you need to let us load your cart and tip us. No problem, I did it my self along with loading 3 kids and my partner onto the trolly… but I did tip from the perspective of “Go away please”. I realize the family is not the target audience. This hotel has, but given the proximity to Union Train Station, perhaps they should consider a different attitude amongst the staff. Additionally, we got a bit of a snooty greeting with the intention to put us off into a corner because we showed up for breakfast at the restaurant. No problem again, which one across the street and $50 in Starbucks food. Again, kind of turned away at every interaction. The one saving grace was the bell hop in the morning, who helped me with the vehicle. He seems like a decent down to this guy with no assumptive nature. Anyways, if I can avoid staying here, I probably will, and it’s not a Price thing because that doesn’t really make a difference to me. Service and people definitely thumbs down.

No gym, no sauna (when we went). Refreshments in the room were 7+ months expired. 200 dollars a night hold on your cc. You must pay for internet service to the room. Breakfast not included $60.00 for the buffet. I mean if they had everything working and in order I would go back. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean.

I had been wanting to try this hotel for so long and I am so glad we finally did. We had an absolutely excellent stay. Check in was smooth and the front desk staff were so inviting. The accommodated our request to be on a higher floor and away from the elevators. They even provided us with a fan when we asked for one for our room. Dinner at Reign was by far the best halibut I’ve ever had. The prices can be steep but honestly it felt like luxury and we felt like royalty. The bed was SO COMFY. I normally don’t sleep well in hotels but I slept perfect throughout the night. 10/10 would stay here again - amazing location being right across from the subway as well.

We visited the Clockwork restaurant and didn't stay as a hotel guest. The hotel is beautiful. We had Afternoon Tea. The menu is available online. We had people in our party with special diet needs that we informed the place before going. I was very pleased that they went out of their way to accommodate our special needs. One party member had the menu as printed on their website and enjoyed her food very much. Our gluten and lactose sensitive member said all her food was delicious (I was particularly worried about this one but they pulled through) I dropped one star because our tea was just warm when it arrived. We like our tea hot. We did have someone come around and hot up our pots though and we did enjoy our tea after. Across the hall a piano player entertained us. It really added to the ambience to have live music.

For the expense of this historical hotel, you'd expect the rooms to be perfect. Instead, our room had no working air conditioning. We had to switch rooms and we're pretty sure we were given a smaller room for the same rate. Nothing complimentary to make up for the inconvenience. The location is really the best part of the hotel. The lobby is beautiful but doesn't make up for the cost. If you want to stay across from union station, or in a historical hotel, you can stay here for a premium, but shop around in Toronto. There's a lot of hotels to choose from.

Stayed here for four days, and for the price I would say it isn't worth it. The location is amazing, right across from the UP station and right in the center of downtown, some of the staff was very kind but some of them were very rude, especially the women who checked us out was very rude when I tried to tell her the lock in the room was broken (I thought she'd want to know cause that seems like a safety concern but she didn't seem bothered which leads me to believe broken locks are common place in the hotel. So make sure to bring a portable lock with you if you stay here.) On the first morning there a staff member woke us up early trying to deliver in room breakfast we didn't order. He had the wrong room an apologized but for the price I paid for the room I would like it if the staff could double check the room number before pounding on a door with a "do not disturb" sign out. I was jet lagged and not impressed. Many things were broken in our room, the outlet in the bathroom didn't work, the outlet in the desk wasn't attached properly so the whole outlet came out while trying to unplug something. The faucets in the shower were mounted crooked and the shower nob itself did not worth correctly. The sliding lock to the room was also broken and barely hanging on with the very tips of the screws. The desk chair was also broken, with parts of the edging hanging off. Its an *okay* place to stay but no 5 or even 4 star accommodations.

I had my wedding on Friday May 27th in the ball room and it was amazing, my coordinator Kelly McKinney goes way above and beyond to make sure it was a smooth day. I had a large gown that no one wants to press it, she helped me to get the hotel dry cleaning department to take care of it and it was very kind and thoughtful. The waiting staff on the wedding day was amazing, the bar tenders, sorry I forgot your name but there were 3 of them and they were excellent. Food was amazing and oh my server was Lucia and she was great from the tasting meal to the big day. We had breakfast comped on the next day and it was amazing. Thanks so much for making the big day truly special and Kelly, you know you are amazing!!! It says a lot about the hotel for hiring and keeping such great people.

Stayed a night recently to attend a Raptors game and was mostly pleased. The hotel is stunning when you walk in and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We just had a standard room which was fine but lacked a little polish- no vent fan in bathroom(?) faucet for shower wasn’t strong. Overall I can’t complain. It was a great stay but if your looking to get the full wow factor I’d recommend an upgraded room over the no-frills option I went for.

The lobby was absolutely beautiful. Walking into a gigantic Christmas tree that was beautifully decorated was amazing. The restaurant looked fancy. The hotel staff who delivered items were very friendly. House keeping was very friendly. Pool and hottub were enjoyed. The steam room was out of service. Room service was way too expensive for the average person (24$ for a small bowl of ice cream). The menu looked okay, weren't many gluten friendly options. Rooms were okay, my bed was slanted and it wasn't the room I was expecting from a 5 star hotel so that was disappointing.

Just checked in and my room smells strongly of mold (as did the elevator) and is right next to the elevator banks, so I hear this constant whooshing sound as the elevators go up and down all night. They claim to be fully booked, so cannot change my room. They kindly offered to bring my bag to my room and it's been 20 minutes and still no bag. I need my laptop to call corporate travel to try get out of this hell hole. But I'm left waiting... hungry because I don't want to order food if I can get out of here tonight. This is not what I needed after a long day of travel. And the price is ridiculous considering all the above.

I spent three nights there, and had an amazing time. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu, while relatively small, was very good. Especially recommend the tenderloin. That was the best steak I’ve ate. I’m a butcher, so I know my meats! And the in room mini bar had a good variety of snacks that really hit the spot for those late night munchies. My only complaint is that I was told by the man who brought my dinner my first night that all snacks were complimentary. They were not. I had to pay for them when I checked out. But that didn’t spoil my experience. I will definitely return to the fantastic Royal York!

My mum and I had a wonderful stay for her birthday! They surprised my mum with complimentary sparkling wine and chocolates at the hotel room. I also liked the option to upgrade our room, which was offered at check-in. The main floor lobby is beautiful. We really enjoyed the decor and cocktails in the Library Bar. The hotel is also in a convenient location, with access to the TTC steps away. In the room that we were in, the beds were very comfy. The bathroom was small, but they may just be an architecture aspect from when the hotel was built. Overall, the management went above and beyond with their service - the key being everyone that we interacted with seemed genuinely kind and considerate. It’s a rare treat for my family to indulge in this type of accommodation and we may not be the usual crowd for five-star hotels. All to say, we felt welcomed and were treated very well. Thank you for our wonderful stay.

This was the most amazing Christmas my husband and I have ever spent together. The decorations for the holidays were unbelievable! The attention to detail was stunning. We had a seafood tower dinner and I must say not only was the East coast seafood delicious but was so easy to consume. The service of course first class and the desserts nothing we have ever seen or had the pleasure to consume. This is a new Christmas tradition for my husband and I am I must say our children missed the best Christmas dinner ever!!!! Maybe we will invite them next year.. I cannot thank everyone for the wonderful weekend. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone... Such an amazing experience

Great location Hotel main lobby is beautiful. The bars are very nice and rich looking. Staff are very nice. Rooms are old dating back to possibly the 90’s. They also have the audacity to charge for wifi in the room. I thought we were done with that money grab! Also takes 20 mins to get your car from valet.

Its crazy that this hotel consistently is the most reasonable hotel downtown these days. Such great service and the location is the best. I do wish they would have someone organize the front desk as people just cue up everywhere and it doesn't work. Other then that we stay all the time and it is great.

The Fairmont is a lovely, historic hotel with great bars, a swimming pool, a sauna, and a decent gym. Now, for the things I wish people noted in reviews: The rooms are nice, but the doors aren't properly fitted, so you can hear EVERYTHING from the adjoining room and the hallway. By everything, it sounded as though my neighbour's toilet was flushing in my room, and we could hear every word people spoke as they walked past our door. The housekeeping staff did a great job, but the towels have seen better days and, like many hotels with shampoo/body wash dispensers in the shower, housekeeping didn't or couldn't refill them (we did ask). None of these negatives should stop you from booking here. The location is great if you're coming in from Pearson, going to a Jays game, or just want to be close to the subway. Just know that it's not the quietest hotel, and you'll want to be proactive about toiletries.

Wonderful stay albeit for 1 night. Stayed in their gold experience. Check in was easy - Mathew was polite and helpful. Room was quiet and well appointed - the shower was wonderful. The lounge was great - complimentary breakfast and drinks, plus the afternoon snacks and evening cakes were a nice touch. They also accommodated a late check out which helped a lot due to a last minute flight change. Only feedback would be to bring back room service throughout the day! I’ll definitely be back when I’m next in Toronto.

A historic and well-maintained hotel. However, pretty busy and packed everywhere you go. There is a long line at the front desk over most of the day. The standard room is small and very noisy, you can clearly and loudly hear your neighbours and the corridor, absolutely incompatible with the hotel's luxury level. The air vent was filthy makes me wonder how the ducts would be... The restaurant and bar offer okay food but are overpriced. After all, does not worth it at all! There is plenty of other hotels in the area with similar or lower rates, nevertheless a better experience overall than this Fairmont. Disappointing.

I can only say a few words about the lobby and the room due to late arrival and one night stay (flight cancellation). The lobby is huge and luxurious. Our room was quite large and clean. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Basically everything was functional. We had two 500ml complimentary alkaline water in paper cartons. Maybe we were too tired to look around, I didn't find the minibar.

Always a lovely stay. Beds are so comfy, the rooms are spotless and the staff are so helpful. Prime location, my only wish is that the parking was included/more affordable. For what you pay to stay here an additional $60 for parking is crazy. Even would be nice if you could get a discount at the lot next door if you show your a guest at the Fairmont.

Make sure to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking a room. This site will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have prices much cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This resort is the best rated in the area. I have been staying here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you won't regret it. A beautiful historic hotel in downtown Toronto. The service was the best I've ever received in a hotel. Everything was beautiful and stunning. Fun fact: they have bee hives on top of the hotel and make their own honey!!! I can't say enough about this hotel. It truly is magical 🥰

Had the pleasure of working a large gala for Starlight Children’s Foundation recently - and I can’t say enough about how incredible the staff and amenities were. Everyone was super helpful for us with unloading assistance, directions and coordination - and the rooms were flat out magnificent! So much larger in person, and steeped in rich history. And an outstanding location in the heart of downtown Toronto, just across the street from Union Station. If you’re looking to host an event to remember, definitely give them a serious look.

Overall, this is a very nice place to stay in Toronto. Nice clean room, lobby is beautiful, service was very good, iconic building, and in the heart of the action. A few things I didn't like though: There was a fridge in the room but it was stocked with paid items equipped with sensors so we couldn't take anything out and just put it back later, and there was no room for anything of our own. The room was hot even though I turned the thermostat way down. Not sure what's going on there, but it needs to be looked into. There didn't seem to be an exhaust fan in the bathroom in our room. Minor, and maybe sue to the age if the building, but still.

This hotel has everything on premises needed and worth every penny charged for your stay! The lobby bar and restaurant have a fantastic ambiance any day of the week; the music, the cocktails and the food give you a fabulous Saturday night type of experience every evening. As for the housekeeping, Valet and Bellhop staff: outstanding!! I was alone today when checking out and they made everything easy from temporary parking to going to my room to deliver my bags right into the trunk of my car! Can't wait until I return for our next annual visit. Each year they find a new way to surprise me with spectacularly efficient and friendly service.

I highly recommend this hotel and I would stay here again. Check-in/Check-out was a breeze. The location is good, it is in the financial district so don't expect a super lively atmosphere, but it was really quiet at night which helped us get some good rest after the long days. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was excellent, it had all the fixings and there was always something good to eat. They even made to-go bags or grab bags if you were in a rush. The size of the King room is tight and the bathroom's vanity is quite small, not much counter space or towel rack/hooks. Other than that, the room is perfect for what we needed it for. The bed was very comfy and we were able to ask for extra towels without any issues. One last thing is the water pressure was ok, but funny enough it took a while to get cold water, the hot water was steaming super easily though, if you're into that.

Okay, okay, I'm fashionably late with this review (Jan 2023 vibes, anyone?), but this hotel deserves a shout-out! A true blast from the past, it's a historian's dream with treasures and tales in every corner. Now, about their restaurant: beautiful setting but the price tag made my wallet wince. On the brighter side, the hotel stay itself? Absolutely splendid. Would come back for the rooms and history, might skip the dining.

Absolutely fantastic. My fiancé made a reservation after a hectic week. Upon check-in, the clerk congratulated us and advised that we got a free upgrade. It was such a pleasure! The room was clean and well maintained. The chocolate strawberries with a congratulatory card was such a thoughtful experience. We ordered in room dining- the butter chicken and salmon was marvelous! Overall, would highly recommend and will be back

Pushed the boat out on this expensive (for me) spot from which to explore Toronto. PROS: The location is great and the view was awesome. The pool was nice. Bed super comfy. CONS: for the price I expected better soundproofing, I could hear everything that was said in the adjoining room, as well as an alarm clock from the opposite room. My room wasn't ready when I arrived, and I went off for a walk and was told that they would call when it was ready. No call, and 3 years later I went back to ask if it was ready. It was, but my luggage was not. No free WiFi and the WiFi when you get it is awful!

What a wonderful first stay at the Royal York. I know I'll be back. Perfect location to wheel my friend onto his via trans Canada train to Vancouver the next morning. The room was perfect, though oddly there were some glaring cleaning errors. The glass on the night stand had a glass-sized water mark. And something that I really hate, were multiple black hairs (like a dozen) on the tile walls in the shower, right at eye level. Ugh. But on to better things! Incredible staff, from having the car parked by valet, to the bell staff getting us across the street to the train in the morning. Upbeat, cheerful professionals all. We had an amazing small meal at the bar, center court. Poached shrimp cocktail and a delicious garden salad with blue cheese and pistachios. But, the piece d' resistance were the BEST vodka martinis either of us had ever had. (And my friend has consumed a few in his 90 years!) I'd go back *just* for the martinis! Seriously. I highly recommend the Fairmont Royal York, it's a terrific hotel, well managed and staffed. Kudos to all. Plus gosh, you're in the outstanding city of Toronto! Gorgeous. You can't go wrong.

The rooms are clean, though could use a bit of a deep clean (carpets and bathroom tiles where the grout is getting discoloured). I really appreciate that the windows can be opened to let in fresh air. I prefer to have a useful mini fridge rather than the minibar one. Though a fridge can be brought up upon request, without hesitation. The service is excellent, and very professional.

It is an overrated hotel. I stayed for a day and had a feeling that it was not worth it for the pice. The only good thing I felt was the location. I would suggest you have many other better options downtown. Also told me about 30 minutes away from the airport, which is like 45 minutes to 1 hour at least. I have stayed at many hotels in different countries, but this will be the smallest washroom [especially shower] I have ever seen.

I went to catch up on sleep and get some much needed R&R. The check in experience was great. The staff was welcoming and offered me a great "view". However, I was upset with the fact that there was a smoker on my floor and that smell was in my room all night. I know they can't control someone choosing to follow the rules, but they could have tried to remedy the issue sooner. I left with a horrible headache and lack of sleep. Also, despite asking for late check-out the cleaning staff continued to try to enter the room all morning.

Definitely tired for a 5 star hotel. Although they say they are in transition. For downtown think the location is great especially if paired with a train trip. Lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. On the underground PATH network and close enough to theaters. The water was warm, but definitely not hot on both of my last 2 stays......

In a world where good customer service is harder and harder to come by our stay was a pleasant surprise! Had a guys weekend, hit the leafs game and toured a few sites. The Royal York was the perfect location for doing it all on foot. When we arrived they had wine and chocolates out for my buddies 40th with a free room upgrade. That evening there was a wedding in the hotel which appeared to get out of hand and we called down about loud music which they immediately tried to rectify. Overall a wonderful experience at a historic property with historic customer service.

Really great location and wonderful service by all staff, the lobby is beautiful and has great life since there is a bar right in the middle, they play fun music on the weekends and it has quite the fancy party scene. There is a valley that you can use but even if you are staying here you are charged extra. Also if you don’t have a member pass with them you don’t get free wifi here so make sure you sign up for that. The room service was also great, we got breakfast delivered to our room Saturday morning. Prices are to be expected at a 5 star hotel in the middle of Toronto. The only downfall to this place is that it is old and rundown. The rooms have a old smell and there are many obvious repairs in both the rooms and hallways. The bathroom itself wasn’t very clean and there was mildew in the grout lines so you can tell it wasn’t cleaned very well.

Never having stayed at such a luxury hotel, I was delighted with every detail! Staff were most gracious and very efficient. Breakfast in our room was so decadent. The detail and formality of the meal were surprising yet very appreciated! We will be back next we treat ourselves!!

Make sure to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking any stay. This site will compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This hotel is one of my favorites in the area. I've been staying here for years. If you decide to stay here you won't regret it. I had a great experience here. Beautiful hotel and it’s in downtown Toronto. The rooms were clean. I just would of liked the window in the room to be cleaner. Jacuzzi might need some work. Great customer service here. Thanks for everything!

Stayed here for 4 nights since I always passed by the place and wanted to check it out. Overall, it was an average stay that, in my opinion, was not worth the money. However, if you are someone interested in staying in a historic building with character and exceptional service, I'd say go for it. The staff is definitely the highlight of the service. Majority of them are very kind, patient, accommodating, friendly, and formal, especially those at the front of the hotel (who offered to help with my luggage), the maids (one of whom recognized me throughout the hotel and always wished me a pleasant day), and especially the people at front-desk. I made the idiot move of forgetting to bring a physical credit card for payment, and all the receptionists were extremely kind and accommodating to working around the issue which I highly appreciated. However, I had a somewhat rude encounter with an Asian dude at bell desk, but otherwise everyone was superb. There is a disconnect from what the reviews say and how the hotel actually is. Some reviews mentioned to check out the rooftop, but I spoke to a worker who said that there is no rooftop. Additionally, some reviews mention paid wifi, but wifi is free (they provide the password at check-in). The entire building is sparkless and clean. It is definitely luxurious and is reminiscent of the art deco era. Lobby is a nice place to hang out and is nicely kept. Loved the decorations in the main area. Pool is smaller than what the photos present. Of the 3 times i went there, the first 2, there was no one was reception and anyone could walk in. On my 3rd time, there was someone there who said a reservation was required, which caught me off by surprise. For such a big building, I was expecting more places to hangout, but you can really only hang out at the lobby and pool area and gold lounge if you are a member. Other floors you can explore are empty or closed off due to COVID. Room was pretty good. Some people mention that the rooms are outdated, but I believe the designers are keeping in touch with the general nature or the hotel's historic atmosphere. Shower is absolutely heavenly. Beds are very soft and comfy. Pillows are on the soft side rather than firm. As mentioned prior, room service was exceptional and made sure to keep your room clean. I did find 2 hairs in my shower when I first checked into my room, but otherwise everything else was good. Overall, I am satisfied with my stay. The staff is the highlight of the experience; they are what makes this hotel so special from my stays at other hotels. Very distinctly Canadian! Otherwise, for the price, I believe you can go somewhere better, therefore I would not return here.

Exquisite hotel in the heart of everything Toronto has to offer. Close to Union Station and Scotiabank Arena... valet parking is pricey but so is the rest of Toronto. The food at Reign was amazing.

The hotel is stunning especially around the holiday season. We went for a one night getaway and as always had a fantastic stay. One of the things that makes this hotel a favorite is the people. Upon checking in, Joy greeted us and was so pleasant. She thoroughly outlined the hotel amenities and local sites to see. Kavin was also phenomenal when we had questions and was a wealth of information about the hotel. We relaxed in the pool and Austin went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. These are the kind of people that make a company great and keep guests coming back. We look forward to our next stay and would highly recommend the Royal York to anyone visiting Toronto!

The best hotel I have ever stayed at. The looks just scream "fancy" and truly made me feel luxurious. I visited during the Christmas season and the Victorian decorations were simply marvelous. The staff was well-dressed, diverse, very formal and polite. This hotel also has basically everything. It literally has an entire shopping centre in the basement, even. You would never need to leave! If you are one for partying, then the bars, restaurants and gatherings at night are perfect for you! If you are not, do not fret about the sound! I stayed on a floor that was close to the lobby and could not hear the booming music from down there! How silent things are in rooms is very impressive. The housekeeping is excellent - they respect your belongings and keep things incredibly neat and spotless. They also get their work done very quickly yet thoroughly. The hotel is in the heart of Toronto. Everywhere I have needed to go in the city is easily accessible by foot. Very convenient.

I've stayed at many hotels in Toronto and this is definitely the classiest. The staff are professionals in properly treating people. The only fault we experienced is that there was some misinformation when we booked as to availability of type of room and features in the room. But appreciated that when they say fitness centre is open at 6 then it is promptly so.

  • 3/5 YANNY K. 2 years ago on Google
The wall between the rooms are paper thin! We could hear the conversation of the guests next door clearly and they weren’t even talking loud. The room also has weird red stains everywhere , I assume and hope it’s catch up? Besides that, the staff are friendly and love the history of the building.

Excellent experience! Clean, renovated room had me feeling like a queen. In-room dining is a real treat. Presentation is great. Pricing is sky high for small portions though. I recommend the farmer breakfast or the fish fingers and suggest avoiding the onion soup. You must reserve your spot at the pool ahead of time. They have ten hour-long reserved spots.

A very grand and chic hotel. The rooms are clean and the service is great. The event spaces are managed so well and the staff are friendly and eager to help. The common spaces (elevators, hallways, lobby..etc) make you feel like royalty.

The rooms are nice and clean. Soaps and shampoos are very high quality. The restaurants are quite high end and don't deliver the value for money that I usually look for. They are fine if it's a business expense, but otherwise Toronto has much better dining options downtown.

We've stayed at the Royal York many times over the years. Most recently it was last week, to celebrate our anniversary. Our luxury king room was immaculately clean, as was all of the common areas in the hotel. Bed and pillows were comfy, just wish the bed wasn't quite so hard. I like firm beds but woke up very stiff each morning! Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Loved the marble bath and the shower was wonderful! We enjoyed the pool, hot tub and steam rooms. We were disappointed that the hot tub was drained the second day (our last day), not sure why. We are from the US and really appreciate how well Toronto is dealing with Covid. We felt very safe and wish the US would follow similar protocols! Can't wait to return!

We loved our stay at the Fairmont Royal! It was perfect. The decor is beautiful. It is well located. We stayed in a luxury room on the 11th floor with a beautiful view. As a family for 4, we were a bit concerned that the room would be too small after reading reviews on online. however, the room was perfect! The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. The service was exceptional. We did not have any issues with valet parking as some previous reviews had stated. The Reign Restaurant offered delicious dining, and we enjoyed drinks at the Clockwork each night. We definitely stay here again!

Busy, busy, busy. You wouldn't think there was covid. However, temperature was taken and we donned our masks. Three of us were playing during cocktail hour following a wedding ceremony in Leaside. I can't remember the last time I was here, but likely Toronto Scottish Country Dancing Society's Tartan Ball a couple of years ago.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, across the street from Union Station and a few minutes walk to the Rogers Centre, Air Canada centre and the metro convention center. Basically the heart of the downtown core. The place is immaculate, the Queen of England has stayed here as well as many other high profile celebrities. History is alive and well at the Fairmont as it has been here over 100 years and going strong. Highly recommended for a visit even if you don't stay the night. Staff are excellent, helping and friendly.

The Royal York is “My Hotel”. We consider it our second home. It is a place where all are welcome and you feel luxurious and relaxed. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Every little detail is so well thought out and taken care of. We have been coming to stay at the Royal York at least twice a year for the past ten years and we have seen many updates and changes. They’re always keeping up with the times yet they never fall short on service. The entire establishment is beautiful with lots of history. We will always continue to come and stay at the Royal York and always looking forward to our next trip ♥️

It has been newly renovated, but keeps the historic vibe live and well

perfect location, great breakfast restaurant , amazing lounge and drinks. awesome bar, very nice pool and jacuzzi. the amenities are 5 start. BUT THE ROOMS ARE NOT SOUNDPROOF AT ALL. The walls are so thin you can hear neighbors talking perfectly even when they are using their inside voice. and the door to the room has a 1 inch gap under all the doors, so the hallway people sound like they are talking in your room.

I have stayed in many hotels in Toronto yet the Royal York had never made the list. After this weekend it will be our hotel of choice for several reasons. We always take the go train in from Oshawa and rolling in to union station and walking across the street to the hotel is a breeze. No more lugging bags further than necessary. The price was also right. We had originally booked another hotel for this getaway and it was over $100 more for the one night. The service is top notch. Our check in was flawless and the service was absolutely exceptional. We advised we were here for an anniversary and she immediately upgraded our room. How do you not give a 5 star for that service? We came for a jays game and it is maybe 15 minutes walk to the stadium and that’s walking with a large crowd. When we returned we found a delicious chocolate and bottle of champagne waiting in our room from the fair Mount Royal York wishing us a happy anniversary. In Toronto be sure to consider the Royal York for your stay. This is an incredible piece of history in this amazing city and everyone should experience it at some point in their journeys. Thank you to the staff for making our amazing weekend even better.

I’ve stayed at multiple Fairmont hotels and the experience at Royal York is by far the finest I must say! I originally booked the King Room and when we checked-in the front desk upgraded us to the Golden King Suite since I’m celebrating my birthday which is amazing! The room size is big, the bed is super comfy and the view is awesome! We also got to experience the breakfast lounge for Gold suite which was wonderful! We didn’t get the chance to use the pool room due to short staying time but we’ve walk around these areas and looked through the history of the hotels. I’ll definitely stay again! Thank you for providing us an unforgettable experience at Toronto.

Gorgeous and elegant hotel. They go above and beyond for their guests. When I expressed interest in filming locations inside the hotel while having drinks at the Clockwork Bar, the staff brought over the Event Manager on shift, Michael, to give us a private tour. Michael showed us the beautiful and historically significant event spaces (with their rich histories), the smallest bar in Toronto, filming locations of movies and TV shows (that I was able to match with the original scenes - ballrooms, bars, performance venues), private garden (where they make their own honey), and lounge spaces for VIPs on the top floors. He also told us about the history of the hotel, the changes it went through over the years, as well as the key people and visitors. Above all, Michael was a delight to be around - fun to talk to, full of positive energy, and very genuine and thoughtful. His enthusiasm really showed. He gave the tour free of charge, and refused any payment or tip for his time even though we insisted. He was happy to do it. Not only did I learn about and appreciate the hotel so much more, I came away moved with a wonderful impression of the exceptional staff and everything that the hotel had to offer. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Canada.

Specifically loved Bobby at checkin. He was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed, including an exceptionally early check-in that we weren’t expecting. We had just asked to store our bags as it was early morning and Bobby was quick to offer our room early. We appreciated his thoughtfulness and will be back! Also had great service at breakfast in Reign by Jesus (amazing server!!) The team at the front door were quick to help with our luggage on the way in and out. The only negative is how small the rooms are but they are reasonable given it’s a historic hotel. Housekeeping was amazing and we had no complaints.

This hotel is the best rated in this area. I've been coming here for years. If you choose this place you won't be disappointed. My friend who is local recommended this of the 3 hotels near the convention center listed for my conference. Very nice room. Helpful staff. Internet was included in my conference room rate but may have cost extra otherwise. The elevators can be a little slow but we’re mostly fine. Would definitely stay here again.

Really enjoyed my overnight stay here. The lobby is stunning and all the staff were wonderful, very welcoming. The reason for the 4 and not 5 star review is because the walls are paper thin, so you can hear other people next door and in the hallway. Apart from that, the standard room I had was very comfortable - especially the bed and linens. Small touches could make it feel higher end though, like tidying up all the cables behind the desk/by the bed. Overall, it was good and I would stay again. The location can't be beaten.

The atmosphere is outstanding. The front desk staff are extremely nice. However, the rooms aren't super great for what you pay. The "luxury" double room was fairly small, beds are small, and the window looks out to the other side of the building. I'd say that if you could find a better room elsewhere but would be missing out on the restaurants and bars located in the hotel.

This is such a great hotel in terms of history and location with so many different amenities. I stayed here one night with my wife and the rooms we're nice and modern. The only slight issue I would say was that I requested glasses of champagne and fruit to be delivered to our room for our wedding anniversary (I did tell the front desk that it was our anniversary) to which only fruit came with nothing else.

My family had a staycation this year and the Royal York was fabulous to our every need. We had a lovely suite and treated my kids like real princes. They had room service and movie night in while we went the Blue Jays game. This was our first time at the Hotel and we were so happy we choose it. The decor is as lovely as the staff. You all should be proud of what you all do everyday for total strangers that choose to have a vacation after 4 years in your lovely hotel, instead of flying somewhere. You will definitely see us again.

We had a great stay at the Fairmont Royal York. The location is excellent, you're in a central part of downtown and within walking distance to many tourist spots and restaurants. The rooms were spacious and clean, albeit dated. Staff were friendly and the housekeeping was great. I highly recommend dining at REIGN Restaurant + Bar that is inside the hotel. We had a light night dinner here and the food was amazing, portions were good and drinks were excellent. We would definitely stay here again the next time we come to Toronto!

This is a lovely hotel. Beautiful, historical building; friendly and helpful staff; great cocktail bars on site; super convenient location across the street from Union Station. We stayed in a luxury king suite. I would warn potential travellers that it is not really "luxurious" - it is the same size as the standard king room, but renovated. The bathroom is very small and there is no room to put your toiletries down. That said, the room had nice finishings, was very clean, and had great amenities (high quality towels, comfy bed/pillows, and good skin and haircare products). I had a great relaxing time at the Royal York. Will stay here again.

The hotel is absolutely splendid. The building is an iconic part of the history of Toronto but it does have flaws. I asked 5 members of staff about the history of the building and some of the famous rooms such as the ballroom before I found someone who had a basic knowledge. The thermostat in my room was set to 16C but the room was always hot. While the restaurants and bars are all quite splendid, the hotel lacks a simple walk-in bar or a simple breakfast buffet.

Overall a great stay. Last minute Leafs game with the family. Check in was too long in my opinion. Over 10 minutes and it wasn't that busy. No help with luggage - we came on the train. It would've been handy. Room was 2 double beds and a living room 500 ft2. Nice decor. It was supposed to be a signature room I don't think it matched the picture but was nice nonetheless. Hotel is in great proximity to everything. Room service was great and quick. Breakfast was great too. Overall a good hotel but could be a little better in comparison to other 5 star hotels.

Although I stayed at the Fairmont Royal York back in October, I finally set time aside to address the outstanding service I received while staying at the beautiful hotel. Specifically, I wanted to thank Kevan from the front desk concierge for helping me have a wonderful experience at the Royal York. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the city and hotel, as well as being very kind and caring. Staff such as Kevan truly turns small moments into wonderful memories. ☺️
