This is a hidden gem 💎 in Barton St, the service is the best, the staff is super friendly and you feel welcomed since the moment you step in. They have a nice menu with savoury and sweet options. Their drinks are nice too and although not a big place it feels cozy. The music selection is great.

The best French Onion soup I have every had. Crepes are spectacular and service is extremely friendly. It's like going to a friends house who happens to be a great cook.

My friend and I went to Hamilton for the day and were looking for a place for breakfast... could not be any happier with the choice we made!! VERLAN was absolutely perfect. Food was delicious and the people were so welcoming. Would gladly go back!!

Absolutely phenomenal. Such a cute atmosphere with high quality ingredients. Best crepes I have ever had. The cheese, jams, béchamel, everything is amazing. Trish is so friendly and attentive. The personal mini French presses are genius and I love that the crème brûlée flavour changes! Only five tables inside so if you want to come I’d book a reservation especially if there’s more than 2 of you but it is well worth the wait.

Wonderful experience. Everyone who works there is very kind and the food was fantastic! Such great flavours and made fresh. One thing I’d note is that it is quite pricey for the amount of food you get, I would definitely say I was hungry after my meal. I do understand that food costs are generally high these days…

The food is delicious! The only drawback is the limited space; it's more suitable for a small team lunch. Perfect for a couple of people, or you'll need to call and reserve. I believe it can accommodate a maximum group of 10 as it has only 4-5 small tables.

Amazing, cozy little brunch spot with the best crepes and coffee! The staff are so sweet and you can literally watch them make your food. The offer savoury & sweet and have daily specials. The seating is limited, you might want to make a reservation on the weekend.

If I could give this place 1000 stars, I would, I just finished having surgery during a snow storm, and this place shined like a beacon of hope after fasting for 36 hours. The staff was incredible, friendly, informative, and just simply wonderful. The food, oh my goodness, I could eat there for the rest of my life and die fat and happy!! We have agreed to come back at least once a month, we promised!!

Visited with my partner based off of the great Google reviews during a day trip to Hamilton and our expectations were exceeded! Such a cozy atmosphere, with the modest kitchen open to the space - the highlight however was the service and food! Trish was warm and welcoming - we made some small talk during our visit and she engaged with genuine interest. We ordered the specials (a crepe and a toastie) plus the french onion soup. All were winners! We liked the tomato jam on the crepe so much we bought a jar for ourselves (will be great on burgers!). Will be back next time we're in the Hammer for sure.

Go here! This place is amazing. Food and drinks were exceptional. Trish and Anika were so lovely and served us with a smile. Very clean. Very welcoming environment. 10/10 would recommend.
