For the appetizer, I had crab cake which was OK. Nothing too spectacular about it though. For Salad, I had Caesar salad which was one of the best I have had ever. Tasteful, fresh and authentic. My main course was roasted rack of lamb. The lamb had Dijon Rosemary crust which was a unique flavour for me, very new and delicate . For dessert, I had chocolate bourbon cake. This is the reason for 1 star reduction. The cake was too sweet and too heavy in texture, that I needed to drink water with every bite.

This place is definitely on my top list for the best steakhouse in Toronto. The ambiance and atmosphere of the location is really great. As for the food, the steaks are cooked to perfection, seasoned well, and juicy. The side dishes are amazing as well, so don't forget to order those. In terms of service, the staffs were very courteous and knowledgeable in recommending suitable wine for the dish. If it's your first time coming, I highly recommend the table-side cooking experience. This is a very unique kind of hospitality you will get at a high-end restaurant. You can either choose the individual Steak Diane or the Chateaubriand for two. As for appetizer, their famous cheese-toast is something you should try! This is a great place to celebrate a special event/milestone or even just to enjoy great food and excellent hospitality once in a while.

First of all love the atmosphere inside. It's decorated really well. Very modern and classy at the same time. Our table was upstairs overlooking main dining area. Which gave us a great view of the live performances going on during that time. We ordered seared scallops for appetizer. Although it tasted good, I think it was over priced for what we got. For main we had beef wellington and steak. Steak was cooked to perfection and tasting amazing, beef wellington although it tasted good but puff pastry was rather soggy by the time it arrived on our table. For dessert we had creme brulee which was excellent. Also the service was excellent. Our server was very nice and constantly check up on us throughout the night. We really enjoyed our time here.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!! My wife and I spent our 27th Wedding Anniversary at Hy's Steakhouse and were blown away by the beautiful ambiance, and 5 star service by our incredible server Gabriel. Instantly we felt transported to a time when hospitality was an art and only the best artists were selected to curate your masterpiece. Gabriel's recommendations were on point, and he attended to our every need. The food was exceptional, and Steak was cooked to perfection! My wife celebrity chef Raquel Fox who is also an instructor at George Brown College said " Dining at Hy's Steakhouse Toronto was the epitome of remarkable service!" The live music had us on the floor and dancing to the smooth sounds of the band. We can't wait to go back with our friends.

I have dietary restrictions - no dairy and no nuts (peanuts and tree nuts). We got the seared scallops, beef wellington, and steak and it was quite good. I wasn't a big fan of the steak - it was more medium or well-done, than medium rare; but it was still good! It was my boyfriend's first time trying out the beef wellington and his only complaint was that he could've had at least two. Our server was pretty nice and accommodating to my dietary needs. We sat by the bar (the lounge area), and it was quite busy. We came at a weird time, right before dinner and left right before the live music started! I think we would've liked the vibe a bit more if we came a bit later. When we dined, it was around 4 pm on a weekday. I would probably want to try the dining area too. Overall, we would definitely come back to try this place again. Very spacious and beautiful dark decor on the inside, huge tall windows lets the sunlight in. I can imagine it being very pretty in the evening. Thanks for having us!

Had a career celebration here with my boyfriend. Phenomenal service with high standard food. Our server Carissa is super attentive and professional. Recommend all great food and enjoyed so much! Must try their oysters especially with the wine sauce and their Wellington steak is extremely juicy and full of surprises. Paired with Malbec, classic and the on table service for dessert you can’t miss!!

Spent our anniversary diner and was incredible. Everything from the hosts down to the food was great. Servers ensured we were well taken care of and always had the table clear. Will be coming back for many more celebrations.

We went to Hy's for an Anniversary dinner and it was fantastic. The location is great, right in the heart of downtown Toronto. The meal was exquisite. Our steaks were excellent, and the side of maple pecan carrots were a lovely touch. Appetizers and desert were also delicious. They had live music which was a very nice touch. The volume was perfect to hear it but too loud to the point you had to raise your voice in conversation. All around it was a pleasant ambiance. Our server was Gabe and he was excellent! Very helpful with suggestions and timing. He was very polite, professional and also extremely friendly which adds to the great restaurant environment. I'd highly recommend Hy's!

This is definitely a must try place! Everything was tasty - from the beef tenderloin carpaccio to the roast rack of lamb. The steak was cooked nicely and the bananas foster for dessert was an experience. The server was very kind and made us feel welcomed. The place is beautiful and there’s a lot to choose from.

Hy’s is a stunning upscale restaurant suitable for all occasions. The decor features dark woods, massive floor to ceiling bookshelves, and looked like a lounge out of a private estate. Staff were very welcoming and professional. Food: - Bone-in Ribeye was good, cooked to the exact doneness I asked for. Each slice had chunks of fat that paired nicely with their peppercorn sauce. I usually enjoy steak on its own, but the sauce combination worked wonderfully. Steak overall is flavourful and salted just right. If there was more crust, this would have been perfect - Brussel sprouts were excellent. Very fragrant. I caught a whiff of it when a waiter walked by to serve another table and immediately wanted to order this. It’s charred perfectly and has a beautiful nutty flavour from the browning - French Onion Soup leans sweet and tangy. Decent but felt some beefiness in the broth would have elevated this dish further - Avoid the signature Cheese Toast. Way too salty and overpriced for essentially 2 slices of bread with crusted cheese on top - The Espresso Martini is sweet. This interpretation is meant for dessert. Coffee notes are still there Overall I liked Hy’s. The food is comparable to Ruth Chris and easily ranks above the keg. Interior design is where I feel they really distinguished themselves. Atmosphere and service is great.. Have no clue why people have scored this place so high. For luxury food this place is at best a 2.5 stars. I have the "CHEESE TOAST FOR TWO", the one everyone is raving about. Nothing special at all, I could make it better in my AF Table side CAESAR SALAD and Lobster Rolls were below average, wouldn't order it again BEEF WELLINGTON was blue, even though the told me it would be medium/rare, I didn't like it at all, the crust was baked for too long and didn't taste right. The only high point of my visit was the desert. My group preferred the KEY LIME PIE over HY’S FAMOUS CHEESECAKE. Both were good. For $150 bill I expected more... *** The restaurant did comp us for the deserts since the Wellington was terrible

The best Steakhouse on Toronto. I came here to celebrate my wife's birthday. She was not disappointed at all. Love the ambiance and the food. The service was excellent, and our server gave my wife dessert with a candle for her birthday. Valet parking or garage parking only. Make reservations for best seating.

Nice atmosphere. Excellent service. The scallops were amazing, great flavour and melt in your mouth. Our steak was cooked perfectly, I just wish there was more mash potatoes that accompanied the steak. Last but not least, we got the banana foster. It was flambéed table and so delicious

Great all around experience. The space itself is beautiful with high ceilings and natural light. The service was a top notch. For me, I haven’t eaten at a lot of high end steak houses. But I have eaten a lot of steaks.. and t his was probably the best I ever had. Had the 14oz NY and it was perfectly cooked and full of great flavour! Great place for a corporate lunch or special celebration or just a great steak.

Nice steakhouse with great service. One of our guests spilled water which drenched the other side (luckily they were off to the bathroom). The staff didn’t miss a beat and put cloths to dry and and change everything before they got back. I got the Caesar salad with table side service and the crab cakes as appetizers. We got the steak feature which was supposed to be for 4-6 and 3 of us split. We were stuffed though don’t think it would be enough for 6 unless they are light eaters. Had brussel sprout sides And key lime pie dessert. Typical steakhouse atmosphere and they had live music which was a bonus. Best part was the company!

Absolute perfection in every bite! Celebrated a birthday here, and they made it an incredibly special experience. The food was cooked flawlessly, the service was outstanding, and hands down, the best steakhouse I've had the pleasure of visiting. Highly recommend for a memorable dining celebration!

Been here on several occasions, and I love it here. What appeals to me is the live music. Once you step into the restaurant with the live music playing, it already gives you all the feels. The food is always good, I particularly love the table side spinach salad and table Caesar salad as well as the French onion soup ( it was very aromatic and not overly salty ). The cheese bread is a must order in my opinion, and any cut of the steak is good,cooked to your liking. Service is great, staffs are friendly and attentive. The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars is because of how loud it can get with the chatter. Each time we went, we sat upstairs and it is still fairly loud conversations overlapping conversations coming from below. You can hear the chatter in one of the videos I posted here. The ambiance and decor is classic with a touch of modernism. Value is good as well. If you have not dined here before, I suggest that you give it a try.

Very nice bar. Went for a couple of drinks. Service was very professional at the bar and at the reception. We also enjoyed a quick bite: a grilled cheese sandwich. Came hot and well toasted and tasted so good. Drinks were really good too. Recommended

For my part, i have to say thank you to the Manager i had on the phone who understood my need for Oysters! I called and asked if they had any in service the lady on the phone didn’t know so she asked me to wait for a Manager, and he came with good news so when i arrived my table was already set up with my 12 oysters and wow that food journey started very well for me that night. Very well received and the service by Raquel (Rachelle) was very professional as expected. I can say now this will be my go too when i get the need for oysters. I will be back that is for certain, hopefully this time with a date. Who Knows what ⭐️ Thanks again that was needed.

Upscale atmosphere, fancy restaurant vibe. Had amazing service and great tasting food. The Expresso Martini and the Oysters were super delicious. And the server was super friendly. Definitely recommend.

The staff gets a 5 out of 5, the attention is incredible and the place is beautiful. The food could be better specially for the price you pay. I tried a couple of desserts as well and they are ok, nothing decadent.

Ceased salad came with tableside service. Fresh and fun. Scollops was okay, taste of sauce overwhelmed the food itself. Steak Neptune came with shrimp and sauce. Steak was okay, but the sauce was a bit too much. Steak AU POIVRE was okay. Grilled mushrooms was the best! Rich and juicy, full of flavors. It’s our favorite! Margarita was really good. Setting inside was impressive.

I love love love Hy’s. Carol was such a great kind host to us. I thoroughly relish the lobster cobb salad. Hy’s food is always impeccable. They always make such an effort to make it how you want it. And for someone like me that’s the perfect combo - quality outstanding food with kind friendly accommodating service and kitchen.

Perfect after work cocktail spot. The cheesy bread is amazing and the steaks are tough to beat! I love to sit at the bar and see what type of characters come through. It’s always interesting and the atmosphere is great. The space is gorgeous. Highly recommend if you’re around Bay st.

Overall, I enjoyed my time at Hy's Steakhouse, but the star of the show, the Beef Wellington, let me down. Everything about it was cooked well, the only thing I didn't like was that there was way too much foie gras . It overpowered everything and I could not taste anything else. The French Onion soup was presented in the classic manner and tastes amazing. The drink, Adelaide Sour, was a good way to balance out the heavy sweet and savory flavours throughout the meal. The Bourbon cake with ice cream was good, but a bit small for the price.

Perfect place to enjoy steaks with a great atmosphere, as a small jazz stage is there for you! Various wines on the list are amazing as can select the right one for yourself. I loved the foods, drinks, and the atmosphere at all in this restaurant. The server is so kind as well. But the price is quite expensive, especially the corkage fee. Other than that, I am satisfied with everything I had here.

I got there with a reservation, the reception was very kind and the service started great! I was led to my table and was treated very kindly by the super helpful personnel. The dining experience was great! I tried the Caesars salad, prepared tableside (amazing taste, perfect sauce and vegetable balance and great croutons. After that I got the fillet at a medium grade cooking, it was perfect, juicy with a nice crust. The mashed potatoes were accommodating perfectly! Finally I ordered the cheesecake which was very tasty, the balance of flavour was a great end to the night!! Along with the food I had the IPA which was super smooth and fresh. Overall the experience was perfect and huge thanks to the amazing personnel, I definitely suggest a visit and when I am back in Toronto I will head there again! PS the live music was very nice and created a great atmosphere

Went out for dinner last night - excellent customer service. They accommodated all our requests and went above and beyond to make sure all our needs were taken care of. My only regret is not catching our servers name. Food and drink 10/10. Would go there again and will recommend to all friends and fam.

We love good steakhouses and date places and were pretty underwhelmed by this one. We wanted to see if hys had been renewed by a big renovation and new location but it's so much of the old transplanted to the new location. Very average at best food for an astounding price. We don't mind splurging on food when it comes with flavour and quality. We were left with underwhelming food that left a lot more to be desired. The service here was wonderful and we don't want to overlook that but let's call this what it is - a traditional downtown steakhouse dominated by men using business expense accounts. Do not recommend if you are on a date or with other women.

Our experience at Hy's steakhouse was exceptional! Our server Gabe was warm and friendly from beginning to end. I went with my 6-year-old daughter to celebrate my husband's birthday, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Gabe made my daughter feel welcome by getting her to participate in creating a salad, and after talking to my husband for a while, we knew he was a genuine person. This was a special occasion dinner, but I will be back for the warm customer service and the delicious food! Thanks, Gabe!!! ❤

They moved locations from when I first went there, but the new/current location is nice - 2 floors. Food was great as I remember, the crab cakes are delicious! I ordered the Steak au Poivre and my fiance ordered the Prawns and Scallops - also for dessert we had the Belgian Chocolate Cake, all amazing!

Went for a spur-the-moment date night and Hy's did not disappoint! When we walked in we had people take our coats and the atmosphere was very nice! It has an appearance of high class and we felt very fancy. Our food was delicious and our service was exceptional. We will for sure come back again!

My partner and I came here recently and loved our time here! We visited during Happy Hour on a weekday and was really quiet and could fully enjoy ourselves. The ambience is really unique with the surrounding bookshelves/high ceilings. We ordered the beef burger from the Happy Hour menu and was very good and filling (comes with fries too). Lots of shareable options and a few main meals to choose from! Will come back when visiting Toronto again!

Went here for a celebration, was very pleased. The variety in the menu, ambience, and quality service are all present here at Hy's. The wellington, filet and lobster were all cooked perfectly, and the flavours all worked together to create wonderful dishes. All of this did come at a steep price but it is worth as a once in a while fine dining experience!

Took my queen there for her birthday, y'all know Jamaican woman are feisty when it comes to what, where and who makes their food, she gave this place a 5 star rate while having her food. The ambience, live band and the servers and waiters are top notch. We will definitely be coming back again. Thanks for making her birthday special.

Really great experience overall. Loved the food, the atmosphere, the drinks and the live music. I would definitely come back again and recommend everyone to give it a shot. Only feedback I would have is maybe less frequent checkups with the servers. Feels slightly rushed in this type of situation but overall it was really good service and food. Just minor adjustments to frequency of checkin.

Everything is so great here. The washroom, atmosphere, service, bar, and evryrthing else is luxurious. They have live music inside playing. The table service was absolutely magnificent as well! Would definitely return!

I celebrated my mum’s 60th birthday with 14 of our close friends and family. It was an amazing experience. The food and drinks were amazing. The ambiance was also great. I also want to say a big thank you! to GABRIEL who gave us the best dining experience!! He was very attentive and he went over and beyond to make sure my mothers birthday was a success!! I was very impressed with him!!

This is truly a phenomenal steak house. The service tonight was some of the best we have ever had, led by Jacob. The team was all aware it was my Birthday and went out of their way to make me feel genuinely special. The food was excellent and our steak was cooked to perfection. The sides were also great!

Have been here a few times and it truly seems to get better each time. I wish I could’ve given a 4.5 though just because a couple of our apps in our first two visits weren’t quite a hit but our visit last night was perfect. Personal shout out Lorne serving us last night. Very kind, knowledgeable and great upswell skills. We would say star apps throughout all of our visits are the crab cakes and scallops. I would not suggest the Rockefeller oysters. Shrimp cocktail is tasty but a bit too basic. Caesar salad is overly salty and not worth the hype. Our favourite steak tried so far is the bone in New York 22oz. We look forward to trying the wagyu. Only option we haven’t tried but we need it!! Bathrooms are clean and well lit. Seating is spaced and gives enough privacy.

I went to Hy’s for a very special reunion with friends I hadn’t seen in 10 and respectively 26 years !!! We had a magical evening, the food just perfect, the elegant and lively ambiance and most of all Gabe’s service and attention, absolutely outstanding. Too bad the restaurant had to close, we could’ve spent the whole night !!! To be repeated .

My husband and I came here for my birthday. Best table made Caesar salad I’ve ever had!! We shared a giant steak (mashed potato accompaniment was very bland, but the steak was incredibly flavourful) and we ordered a side of mushrooms which were ok. We also shared the prawns and scallops which when we ordered the server told us it was her favourite dish and I see why! Fantastic flavour. The air con was a bit too chilly and the live music wasn’t great and forced everyone in the bar area to be shouting so wasn’t the best atmosphere for a romantic birthday dinner but the food and staff were fantastic.

I made a reservation at Hy's Steakhouse for my fiancé's birthday dinner. It was such a lovely surprise to both of us since it's our first time there. Food did not disappoint, with a romantic ambience upstairs sitting by the glass wall screens. Loved the desserts as well! Very friendly staff and professional services. Highly recommend.

Easily one of the best steakhouses in the city. Had the 20oz bone in rib steak and met and exceeded my expectations. Sides were all good including the wedge salad. Extensive wine list. Additionally the atmosphere was great with live music elevating the overall experience. Recommend if you are looking for great steak or a place to go on a special occasion.

First time here to celebrate our 25th anniversary! FYI I will definitely be returning when I visit Downtown TO! Interesting take on the Caesar salad. I was doubtful at fist. They actually come to your table and make the dressing in front of you. Never would expected those type of ingredients to go in this salad. The taste and experience was amazing! Me and my wife both had the tenderloin. I got to say it was one of the best we have ever had. We shared a side of mushrooms and asparagus which were done to perfection. To top it off we had cheesecake and apple crumble. You can tell this was had made by the taste and not something pre frozen. The atmosphere was great and the service was top drawer! Costs were very reasonable for a 5 star. Highly recommend this place.

I had no idea Hy’s steakhouse moved locations in the last three years. As soon as I walked in I felt like this was a little bit more of an upscale keg steakhouse and bar. The food was absolutely delicious! Tableside Caesar salad is an ancient Tradition… but boy is it tasty! When in doubt have a French 75 cocktail! The prime rib sliders were very good. I felt that the table side steak tartare was lacking in the flavour a little bit. Service was excellent we had a lovely time.

Yum!!! My first time to this location and it lived up to all of the other Hy’s I’ve been to. Service was impeccable. Food was just fantastic. Everything was so fresh. Table side Caesar salad was one of the best Caesar salads I’ve ever had. All of the table side dining experiences were just amazing. The seafood platter had super fresh oysters, lobster, shrimp… and so much more. The table side dessert was a great finish to an amazing dinner. 10/10. Not cheap though.

Expensive but outstanding. The scallops didnt have the best sear, a little under done. The beef Wellington was good (not great). I'd recommend the fillet over the Wellington. Fantastic service and worth reserving a table during live music. Check the website for timing, usually starts from 7-7:30pm. Also tried the cheese toast: not worth it. The steak Neptune: absolutely amazing. The cocktails: hit and miss. Desert: fresh berries and raspberry sorbet was a great way to end a big meal. Note: live music is downstairs in the lobby/bar. Great atmosphere to grab a table or have drinks at the bar while taking in the music.

First experience to try Beef Wellington. The beef is very nice, melting in your mouth. Worth the price. Service is excellent. He always checked on us. When I mentioned I gonna shared with my friend. They put our main courses together in 1 dish. That was very caring and nice of them. Good place to celebrate milestones or to try good steak.

This place is just a hype and nothing more than the nice ambiance and location that it has to offer. The service obviously is decent for the price you end up paying ($600+ tax-in for a four course meal with a bottle of wine for 4 individuals). Don't be fooled by the description of the menu items. A 10 oz stake is barely 5 oz by any measure. It's a total rip off. We would never go back and I highly recommend considering other restaurants where you can get a lot more value for your $/time.

I flew in from Montreal with my wife for 2 days in Toronto for Valentine day, especially to come to Hy's, having myself came there 18 years ago. Well worth the trip. The staff knew about it and made sure to feel us great. The venue is beyond fantastic. Live band. Our waitress Kristen was awesome, the food (we ate a lot) was perfect. We had complimentary dessert from Kristen and Gus sure made it a great experience for us with the flambee bananas. Overall yes not for most wallet wise but well worth it. My wife came out with a gigantic smile
