A lot of white af music was put on when we were expecting good 90's songs to be played at this '90s Video Music Dance Party', also hip hop was literally the biggest genre in the 90s, yet they only played a select few hip hop tracks🥱. They also had us stand in line for over 45min despite all the people leaving the bar/dance floor. Vibe of the bar was nice enough but then they charged me $6 for a basic $1.50 ginger beer bottle after I asked for a non alcoholic beverage🙃😒. The owner needs to hire DJ's that plays a more diverse mix and to be professional when replying to the (multiple) criticisms from reviews. Read some of the other reviews too and he replies in the exact same manner.🙄

90s dj set sent us back to school time) nostalgic and fun music and atmosphere. It's been packed, better to come earlier before 10pm to avoid lineups. Affordable prices for cocktails and drinks!

My friend and I attended the 90s video "dance party" here, and forgive me if I misunderstood, but a dance party should involve music that's at least a bit upbeat - instead their idea was to essentially charge you $10-15 (depending on whim at the door) to watch a '90s grunge, hip hop and rap Youtube playlist up on a projector while everyone sits down in their booths sipping alcohol. There was no energy or fun in the room. If I knew that was the case, I'd be scrolling through Youtube in the privacy of my own home. Pretty lame, and their "yawn" response below shows how unprofessional they are when it comes to constructive criticism.

Had fun at the Brit Pop dance night! Flow of songs was a bit off at times from the DJs, but the overall vibe was good.

Vibesss ✨ we went for the disco night and it was such a fun experience. Dj played banged and kept the room going. Fably priced too

Super fun! Went on the third Thursday of the month for a '90s video dance party. Lots of great old hip hop, r&b and dance hits, with even a few alternative hits thrown in. Bar is a bit dark though (could barely see my friend's face), and it was really, really hot and sweaty on the dancefloor, but that's usually a good thing. Crowd was fun (no posers), staff was friendly (especially the lady at the door), and the dancing was non-stop. Would go again.

Went to the PISSton’s so-called 90’s party. They only played hip hop and grunge music on YouTube over a projector screen. No dance music or other variety. A waste and the most boring party ever. And there weren’t any basic bar food like nachos. Yawn.

The piston is an amazing place. The cocktails were great, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the engineer (@Andrei) we had running audio for our concert was simply fantastic - the sound quality of our show was better than I could have imagined. I highly recommend The Piston to anyone looking for a great venue

Super friendly crowd, they were a little older, although it was expected since I was there for a New Years Eve 80s party. The staff is extremely cool and friendly, amazing service!

Disco night on Friday is an absolute must. The staff are super sweet, even on their more hectic nights. Super funky joint

The Piston is a hidden gem with an amazing space in the back of the bar. Perfect for shows and dance parties! Wax Candy on Friday nights draws a very cool crowd - awesome lights and even a smoke machine to set the mood. If you want a less pretentious place to party - The Piston is perfect!

This is a definitely a cool place. Drinks aren't too expensive and there's free cover if you're on the guest list. The crowd is pretty chill and the dance floor fills up nicely after midnight. I only have two complaints. The first is I ordered a whiskey sour and basically got a cup of pure lime juice, which upset my stomach. The second was the music, I went for disco night but the DJ just put disco lyrics over typical house music. I'll probably go back and see how a different night goes.

If there was ever a perfect dive bar with a dancefloor this would be it. Solid line up of DJs with many that still spin vinyl!!! Bar staff are great as well - always upbeat and prices are reasonable.

Piston is always fun but the 60’s night was little bit messy with low quality sound and Dj that couldn’t mix the musics properly! I think $15 was a bit too much for it.

The bathroom right off the dancefloor is perfect for doing stuff you shouldn't be doing on the dancefloor. Great vibes and music here on the regular.

Really loved the bar, but the 30 something flamboyant bartender has some real issues. Seriously. He should see a therapist. Imagine being 30 years old and treating your half baked Bartender gig as your career.

The Piston was a great night out. The light show atmosphere was perfect not over whelming at all. It's a perfect place for a date night or to meet up with friends. The Dj played great songs but the artist sounded like Elvin and the Chipmunks. Please Mr. Dj play that funky music at regular speed.

The Piston is a fun place to go dancing. DJs rotate every weekend and play a specific style of music. It's popular with university students. Empty before 11pm, heaving by 1am. Really good fun, relatively free of attitude and assholez.

Very cool, multi-functional indie bar. Came here on a whim and I'm glad I did. My partner and I enjoyed the cozy booths in front of the bar and the dark, rustic feel to the place. The music was also great, and the drinks were reasonably priced. Looking forward to coming back and sampling some food, or possibly a DJ night the next time I'm around.

Fantastic spot for a weekend escape or a night out. I was there for the 90s dance party and it was like going through a time machine. Great music, great atmosphere and great people! Can't ask for more than that!

I like that there are free seats available just in case you need a break. Not spacious or super fancy but cozy. Great cocktails. Music was awesome. $10 cover fee.

Fun place where all ages are welcome. Not full of creeps like a regular club is. I would come again. Went for 60s soul night. $15 for everyone, $2 coat check. Make sure you don't go before the time as doors are locked! Only downsides are it's hard to find at first and pretty small. But overall good experience.

Saigon Sundays, long weekends is when I go to the Piston. Great, music, sound system, lighting, and great staff. George, the owner, always comes out to greet and speak to the patrons. Space is very intimate and inviting.

Arrived at the venue around 11(ish) to enjoy '"All good 90s Dance Party." Unfortunately, we waited in line for almost 1 hour. It genuinely felt like, “Well we were just going to go to the Roxbury, but we couldn’t get in.” Butabi Brothers - A Night at the Roxbury) A friend inside the venue indicated the venue was following capacity limits, but were certainly not full. My wife commented, "probably understaffed, and could not accommodate the growing crowd." Ultimately, we decided to go elsewhere. My rating is 5 stars, because I support local businesses and do not want to undervalue this magnificent venue. The venue is Awesome! Wonderful owners, talented DJs, affable crowd, affordable drinks, (some of my favorites actually). The Wax Candy Disco, 60s Soul Party, and every third Saturday its 90s Dance Party, are the best in the city. I hope to return soon and contribute to the last authentic bar in Toronto. -- I just hope management has the time to read this and are able to accommodate us next time. Or, or, listen to me for a second. "Make the inside look like the outside and the outside look like the inside." (Butabi Brothers - A Night at the Roxbury) Until next time, keep my draught chilled, will be seeing you real soon. Cheers

👍 Good food as always! Convenient. Kids friendly. One star less because in the men’s washrooms there is no arrangement for baby diapers change. I managed it somehow but for a single dad with baby it is not convenient. I hope management would put up something to resolve it. Thank you.
