This is potentially one of the worst Indian restaurants that I have tried in the GTA. I ordered mixed vegetables and lamb vindaloo, along with 2 rotis on the side. Both of my dishes were extremely bland and flavorless. My four-year-old daughter would be able to cook something more tasty! The rotis were so dry and stale. They were not edible by the time I reached home. The only reason I am giving them two stars is to give them the benefit of the doubt in case they were having an " off day". I do not recommend this place to anyone who seeks authentic Indian cuisine. You will be disappointed and end up with flavorless food so don't waste your time.

I was skeptical of all the 5 star reviews, but this place is the real deal. The curry is bursting with flavor and the spices are so aromatic. Even the Roti has the perfect chewiness to it. I've eaten many types of curries before and this is seriously the best place I've had it. It's slightly pricier than other places but worth every penny.

Matha Roti is a quaint little East Indian shop making some decent and quick food, both for take out (which seems to be the popular option due to the limited seats) and dine in. The food is quite good and certainly worth trying. If there is one criticism, it's to do with the biryani. I think what they serve is curry mixed with rice (which is not what you'd call biryani). Either way, it was good for what it was. I'd still recommend the roti. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Delicious vegetarian options and incredible service ! As a dine in guest, I felt very well taken care of and enjoyed part of my roti with silverware and had the rest to go! Lovely staff, affordable prices, highly recommended :)

We just tried this place for the first time, and it was fantastic! Both sauces were very flavourful and balanced, nicely seasoned. Meat and vegetables were clearly fresh, and perfectly cooked. And miraculously everything was still piping hot even after a 10 minute walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you choose "medium" spicy, it has a pleasant heat, but nothing crazy. Limited and fairly basic seating, so we got takeaway. We recommend the nutty korma with lamb, and the eggplant/potato rotis.

This is hands down the best South Asian roti spot in Toronto: The quality of the ingredients and depth of flavours is unmatched any where else (and I’ve tried a lot of places!)

The food is amazing. But ordering on Uber Eats or door dash has become a bit of a hassle, especially if you want a roti with meat. The butter chicken roti for example, you have to choose between the add ons of shrimp or lamb for an extra $3. We tried modifying our order to just have chicken and something to compensate for the extra $3, like 2 pops instead. The roti came, with no shrimp and nothing for the extra money we paid for the shrimp. We tried calling before ordering and they said they couldn't help us. We were disappointed since we paid 20.99 for the butter chicken roti that came without the add on, and it was also smaller portion than usual. Again, the food is amazing, but this was a frustrating experience.

The food here is quite excellent. We've been a few times and the quality is consistently fantastic. Though slightly pricey, it's worth it. Seating is scarce, so plan to take away. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and are to be applauded for starting a business that clearly distinguishes itself above other Indian fare purveyors. Matha Roti is a new favourite and we expect to go there for years to come.

It was delicious! We got a mix veggie roti and a paneer tikka roti - the paneer tikka roti was simply delicious bt for the mix veggie one, it was as if we ordered a pea roti instead of a mix veggie one because it had too much of peas and some of them weren't even cooked properly! Other than that service was quick and the staff was friendly.

We ordered chicken biryani and mango lassi. The biryani was fine, mango lassi was good. I have tried their chicken vindaloo roti and other few rotis, liked them better. Also the lassi containers and raita containers were not full ,we have had better quantity before. I recommend their rotis, really good but other items are alright!

This roti is fantastic. The sauces are flavourful and really diverse in character, but what puts this place above the rest of the roti spots I have had so far is the flatbread itself! The texture is to DIE for - tender and chewy, and holds the curry perfectly. Wrapped really well all the time, and has a subtle buttery taste that you wont find anywhere else.

I've gone here many times, but recently the roti doesn't taste the same (runny sauce that soaks the bread) and tonight I was made to wait 35 minutes for my take out order, which would have been fine if I had been told it would take that long... instead I was late to pick up my son. When I complained, nothing was done... just poor customer service. I will not return - they lost a loyal customer.

Best roti in Toronto! Delicious saag roti and karahi roti. You can choose your preferred spice level, and the food quality is excellent

Chicken was very raw!! Just felt like it was cheapest meat that they could procure... Roti was good... If you're there and don't have options get something vegetarian

SUPER TASTY ROTI!!!!!!!!!!! I always order the spinach saag roti with chicken, it’s so so so so good!! I love the garlic naan as well!! Good customer service as they always smile and greet 😊 The restaurant is really good for a quick take out! Definitely recommend the store😋😋😋😋

The cook Gowda (South Indian guy) was very rude being a racist while went to get Roti today. Pathetic behavior. The roti and naan isn't made fresh, it is from the refrigerator. Not recommended given how unhygienic the cook was!!! There are better Indian restaurants in Toronto.

Yummy, with a diverse menu with lots of vegetarian options and enough food I always have a small lunch left over for the next day. Just about all the curries seem to have been run through a blender but they're good. Spice is sometimes milder than expected but never hotter than asked for. The staff are absolutely lovely.

Best Indian Rotti place in Toronto. Their Butter Chicken, Aloo Tikki, Madras Masala are the best I tried today. That Mango lassi is mouth watering. 😋😋🤤

I am not sure if it was just my tastebuds but the food was a little bit salty. The portions were large and filled the plate :) I ordered lamb biryani (pickup). Service was fast 👌 and employee/owner was nice !

Cozy place, polite staff, delicious and spicy foods. Great portions. Dined in and had a good time. The tables are clean, store was quiet.

This is hands down the best roti in the city and I have tried all the places 😆

Did not like the taste of gravy at all. Probably, I am a North Indian and my tastebuds are more attuned to eating a gravy in that style. Won't visit again. Tried paneer Tikka masala roti, wasn't worth it. Bombay Roti is 100 times better on the other hand

Had a great butter chicken roti. Sauce, chicken and roti texture were really good. Bell peppers in it is not my favorite. It’s a bit different, but I still enjoyed it. Will definitely try other flavors.

Wow! This unassuming little spot looks almost like a franchise at first glance, but don’t be misled because it’s AMAZING! Our rotis (butter chicken, vegetable korma, and vindaloo respectively) were ALL excellent! Flavour, spice level, size, and value all spot on! What a surprising treat!

Ordered the “Grandma’s Karahi” roti with chicken with a side of nann bread. Very tasty with a nice spice level. Large pieces of chicken and not too greasy which I appreciated. Extremely filling - I could barely finish the roti. Will definitely order again.

OMG after 10 years with no Barbs roti we have Matha! So many kinds of Indian rotis to choose from meat lover and vegan with all the usual options. The exceptionally fresh rotis is my must know for you... just to see it in action you know you're getting the freshest of the fresh as well as their preparation process. Absolutely you must try the vindaloo and the butter chicken as Basics and then go on from there. Because it's so fresh don't expect McDonald's like service LOL its so Indian not Carribean but it is the flavour options thats exciting to go back for... Mild/med/hot 🔥 are all options. Sorry but I ate my roti before I could get a pic! 😂

I ordered the Saag Paneer Roti. The taste is fantastic and the price is reasonable for the amount. However it did get very soggy as the sauce to roti ratio is very high. I recommend trying this place without a doubt.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here in matharoti, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality The star of the show, of course, was the food. The Matharoti served here is nothing short of spectacular. It was soft, perfectly cooked, and had just the right amount of crispiness on the edges. The flavors were an explosion of delight, taking my taste buds on a culinary journey I won't soon forget I was impressed by more than just the roti. The eatery has a varied menu with a selection of delicious dishes that can satisfy different tastes. Matharoti Restaurant has everything to please every pallet, whether you enjoy vegetarian pleasures or yearn for meaty selections. The accommodating staff added to the pleasure of the meal. They were willing to offer suggestions and knowledgable about the food. They were clearly passionate about the food, which added to the atmosphere of the establishment. Do yourself a favor and go to Matharoti Restaurant if you're in Canada and desire for real Indian food. It's a treasure that should be found because it's concealed. I can't wait to go back and check out more of their food options. In the center of Canada, there's a genuine taste of India!
