Recommended by our hotel. And had to go there twice. Super friendly staff and breakfast was made to order. Fresh hot and that spicy mayo is amazing. Coffee mas also excellent. Had a 4shot oat milk latte. Might have been the moment but that moment was perfect with a great coffee and breakfast wrap. Maybe it was a rainy day, but the sunshine was shining bright in my heart!

If there is one cafe that has espresso I can trust in downtown Toronto, it’s Church Street Espresso. I love this cafe and the owners as they are friendly and very present in their business. They also have the best patio for chilling on. I’ve been told that they mix three different beans to make up their signature espresso, and believe me when I say it will give you a massive caffeine jolt! I’ve been drinking coffee for over 10 years, and this place almost gives me the shakes every time! I might not get latte art on my latte, which is 100% cool with me because the milk is frothed into micro foam, the taste of the espresso SHINES, and it works every time to make me feel awake and alive on the days I need it the most.

A stack of 3 pancakes for $7.50?! At that price, you wouldn't expect them to be very good. Except they're picture-perfect, made by a super friendly guy who is also tending bar and dealing with permit issues at the same time. Amazing service, comfy vibe and from-scratch diner breakfast 👍👍👍

Good patio seating available and it’s heated for winter. Coffee is good and fairly good options available. Not much seating inside the cafe though so be ready to sit outside.

Love the outdoor part of this coffee place. They have good English tart and muffin with chocolate tea

Iconic local cafe in the Church-Wellesley neighbourhood. Nice covered patio to get some work done or enjoy a good non-bitter cup of coffee on a relaxing day. I only giving a 4-star because the iced drinks are still served in disposable cups for dine-in.

We went in hoping for good coffee considering the high rating. One of the employees was sweeping the floor when we went. He attended to us right after putting the cleaning stuff away and not cleaning his hands. He picked up the cup with his dirty hands. Luckily some other employee came and made the coffee. The coffee was equally disappointing too - the milk was only hot and hardly frothed for a latte. Neither was there any line up nor was it close to closing time - we didn't get why they couldn't make a good cup of coffee!

Great vibes and staff is very friendly. Quite a few people staying there with laptops. I liked that the matcha latte has unsweetened option.

I’ve been here a few times now. Coffee is good and so are pastry’s and croisant sandwiches. Patio is nice in the summer.

Church Street Espresso is one of my favorite lunch spots, close to work. The sandwiches here are amazing and the pastries hit the spot too. I'd really like to pass by on a weekend as it seems like a lovely coffee place too!

It's a neighbourhood cafe with a friendly atmosphere. good service and excellent coffee with their scones that were spot on. It's become our place to meet for our early morning coffee and scones with the intention of exploring the rest of their menu. And if the scones are an example, I sensed the other menu items won't disappoint. But don't go by my say....go check it out yourself

Coffee is great and the patio is really nice, both in the winter and especially the summer. One of maybe a only couple spots close to the village to meet up and catch up with friends in a relaxed and very casual environment. Absolutely fantastic

my favourite neighborhood spot whether it's hot or cold outside. favourite patio to chill by myself or catch up with old friends. Good coffee/tea, big fan of their iced teas and espresso martini as well as their croissant sandwiches

Update: Today I ordered the cortado again (the barista was a different person) and it was great! So I changed the stars and I gave them from 3 to 5! I didn’t like the cortado I ordered but the sandwich was fresh. Also their patio is nice for the winter!

Got a quick breakfast to go. Was pleasantly supervised by the omelet croissant. The coffee was really good. In particular I liked the attitude of the people running the cafe. You could understand they cared about the customer and what they were doing. Thank you guys.

I ate their blueberry cheese cake and got a taste of their Oreo cookie cheesecake as well, both were delish and appropriately priced. Service was prompt and knowledgeable. Coffee was good. My two friends and I sat on their outdoor patio which absconded the sunshine and rain and kept us in a cool comfortable breeze while we enjoyed each other's company and food selections. Nice place, keep it up!

Church Street Espresso was reccomended to me, unfortunately my experience was less than ideal and I will not be returning. Having a cafe open so early in the morning, with patio seating, sounded like a great place to have breakfast. The entrance is a little tricky, the first step is awkward and if you aren't paying attention or didnt read the sign, could trip you up. The barista who took my order seemed distracted and didn't explain or offer any reccomendations when stating it was my first time visiting. After ordering the spinach/feta/mushroom quiche, I added on a 'side' pancake, which was listed on the menu. The barista said they couldn't do that and after pointing out it was listed on the menu, she felt the need to verify with a manger before they would accept that as part of my order. And they don't have small orders of chai lattes? That doesn't make sense, especially because all of the other drinks do. And it was the most disgusting chai latte I've had. The tea bag was not steeped in hot water, only placed into a cup of cold milk, which is not enough time to cold brew. So it was more like ill flavored milk. After waiting almost 20 minutes for one pancake and quiche slice from the display, I was disappointed yet again. No butter was provided and the maple syrup was gross, I would have expected more flavor or to feature decent maple syrup. And the spinach on the quiche was so dry it was unbearably crunchy, I had to scrape it all off. No one came to ask how I was doing, to check on service  or ask about the food items. I ended up leaving because it wasn't worth the time to deal with that barista again for a refund.

Tasted a "spiked" hot chocolate and a custard pastry - loved both! And the young lady behind the counter is an absolute gem! Huge thanks!

Nice place for the breakfast with a good choice of coffee variations and pastries. Friendly service at the counter. Gentle music in the background. Prices are fair.

Iconic neighborhood establishment!! Great coffee and selection of food and pastries!! Amazing place to hang out any time of day. Has a liquor license for making evening stays in the all season outdoor patio more enjoyable.

I love this place! Would definitely recommend. Friendly staff, great drinks and a perfect patio to enjoy your food/refreshments. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 is because the nachos were $17 and it was just a bowl of chips with a few tomatoes and hardly any cheese. Was really looking forward to nachos but these were sad :( I suggest adding more toppings so they're as awesome as everything else here!

Cute patio, great coffee at very affordable prices. Super friendly staff. The patio outside is very dog friendly, and they always have a treat for your pup waiting.

Great little coffee shop with delicious coffee and a lot of nice, shady outdoor seating. They also serve breakfast!

The owner was so incredibly kind to me during Pride!! They stayed open late for the whole of Church street, were well stocked with drinks and juice, got me a glass of ice when I was overheating and even let me charge my phone. Absolute icons 💕💕

If you’re looking for a lot of sun this summer, this patio is the place to be! Make sure you get there early though because this place is always packed! Joe (the owner) is always so friendly and ready to ensure that his customers are having the best start to their mornings with a delicious latte and locally sourced goodies!! There are gluten-free options available, deals on beer and wine on Wednesdays and Thursdays and best of all, the cutest puppies in the village always seem to be lounging on the patio soaking up the sun!

Old vibe cafe. Their patio is nice and spacious. The coffee bean they are using is pretty dark roasted.

Church Street Espresso is a great neighborhood spot. You'll always find people enjoying the covered patio or chatting at a table inside. The staff are friendly and the menu provides a great set of options. If you're looking for a neighborhood cafe, this the place to become a regular at.

Owner is a super cool dude, the prices are unreal and the coffee… some delicious stuff. I’ve become a bit of a coffee enthusiast over the last year or two and I must say I really enjoy their espresso and americano. Would recommend.

I have ordered from this cafe about 4-5 times during my trip via delivery company. Order from today had an item missing. I called the owner and he was very prompt in making things right. Not only the food and coffee quality top notch, the customer service provided by their staff including the owner is unmatchable. He went above and beyond to fix the issue and I can not thank him enough for maki bc my breakfast so pleasant. Will be my go to cafe for every trip back to Toronto.

Pros: Amazing customer service. The cafe were understaffed, but both attendants were kind and patient. Patio is dog friendly. Great spot to people watch. Cons: A bit disappointed in the quality of breakfast selections and I wish the Chai latte was creamier.

Great place to have a chat or work. Unfortunately today I don't understand why they took more than 20 minutes for a croissant with cheese to be prepared, if the site was not busy at all. I can only assume the guy just forgot. Edit: I talked to Joseph and indeed, this is something that happens (as we are humans) but I can attest this is a great place with a nice and friendly atmosphere.

This is my favourite coffee shop in the whole city. The owner is so chill and funny and makes this space feel so welcoming. I truly enjoy working and studying from this cafe. The breakfast that is served until 3pm is delicious and never disappoints. I highly recommend the hungry man or as I like to call it, the hungry women.

Love this coffee shop. Nice clean interior with good wifi. Great coffee/lattes/capacinos and surprisingly good lite breakfasts that won't break the bank. Best feature is the outdoor patio with a lovely view of Church Street that's frequented by all kinds of interesting regulars. You'll never want for interesting conversation at Espresso.
