Prehistoric museum is definitely an intriguing destination. It's located fairly out of the way, and by the outside, one would not be able to tell it was a museum. Prehistoria is a free admission museum, though not one I'd argue necessitating clearing an entire day's schedule for as it's rather small. There are some intriguing artifacts to be seen, although some were of a questionable nature. However, there are some fun surprises to be found throughout that it makes Prehistoria an experience to say the least. Ironically, the most fun to be had is within Skullstore Oddity Shop, where one can find the most curious and odd trinkets and memorabilia. If you're into weird and whacky relics, or a fan of geology, there's definitely some notable keepsakes to be purchased here.

So neat. I was in town for a couple of days and decided to check this place out on a whim. I'm so glad that I did. They have so many interesting specimens! Admission to the museum is free, which I thought was neat. Donations are appreciated, though. The SkullStore was a definite highlight of my trip, I will definitely be returning for more bones and teeth.

Really cool place for people that like strange things! I went there not expecting much, but their museum has tons of cool things (from real voodoos to real skeletons)! The best part for me was the “museum guide” (which is also a magician). He spent almost an hour showing me around and telling me about the museum items! You can also buy random things at the shop, like human rib bones for $30. Definitely recommended for people that like oddities and strange things.

As far as I know, this is the only free museum you can go to in Toronto. It is a museum with a gift shop attached that is independently run. The museum part is a bunch of neat stuff put into a smaller space then it needs (by museum standards). However I did hear that they will soon be expanding to the main floor of the building in the future. If you're interested in ancient history, rocks, bones, taxidermy like I am, I recommend checking out this place. Beware if you are a collector you'll be enticed to spend more than you were planning to since they have a ton of cool stuff for sale. :)

I have made two purchases online from the Prehistoria Museum & Skull Store and found it to be ready very quickly and look exactly as advertised/described. I had the pleasure of actually being able to explore briefly at the museum in person and was amazed at everything I saw, I can't wait to return and spend more quality time learning about some of what's inside the store. The people working were friendly and helpful, I actually found even more interesting things in store to purchase and made my third purchase in store which was very easy to do. There is literally something to look at and admire in every area your eye can look, I took pictures of certain things and when I looked back at the photos I noticed other things in the background or floor that I didn't even notice in real time! I certainly recommend repeat visits to this place to do justice to all they have to offer! Also bring change as they do have some pretty cool "vending" machines and consider donating if possible so we can keep this beautiful place thriving. See y'all again soon! Thank you for everything you guys do to keep this place going :)

Awesome place beats ROM any day! Shall be back at some point, if not will send people here. Everyone on staff is friendly. Completely free and no pressure to donate unless you wanna. Would add more photos but you gotta go instead.

This was an absolutely singular experience from start to finish. A feast for both the eyes and brain, you’ll find an amazing display area and shop stuffed to the gills with fossils, skins, historical artifacts, relics, gems, bones, live animals, rare and unique oddities, taxidermy, heirlooms, and a wildly surprising pair of underwear with quite the tale attached to them. This is all brandished by a friendly, engaging, and enthusiastic staff who only enhance the already stellar experience. Cannot recommend enough.

Great place for a little visit. Took kiddo there and enjoyed an hour or so of looking at bones, skulls, fossils and other odd things. Looks like they are still organizing some of the info signs and things like that since they recently opened, but it was still worth it. Also a cool gift shop to buy bones and gems and things. Will definitely be back!

Part store, part museum - this is the place see all sorts of mostly animal and some human artefacts here. You will be relieved to find out that they are ethically sourced too. A fascinating place to visit - where taking photos and posting them is encouraged.

Do you like dinosaurs, skeletons, taxidermy, minerals, bugs, and good stories? They have all this and more at the Skull Store!! Sadly, they are moving from the Dundas Street location, but it's worth looking them up in their new place!

Great museum, warm staff. You can feel the effort that went into putting this collection together - it was incredibly informative and a great way to spend a few hours! Entry is by donation when we visited

Haven’t been to the actual museum yet but plan to one day. Have been a customer for online orders for about 3 years now. I have ordered a lot of items from them online and the shipping was always fast and came packaged perfectly! The staff is easy to work with whenever I have had any questions and prompt to e mail back. Keep up the great work!

Really great store to Explore! It's a shop and natural history museum full of curiosities and wonders. If you ask questions, the staff will deliver! I heard interesting stories and history about the animals and artifacts. Discussed the origins of shrunken heads, Saw what the skeleton under a seal, a sea turtle and a bald eagle. I asked why that giraffe is only half. Gawked at the albino collection and asked how some pieces were acquired. Occasionally getting a chance to touch and feel a few of the exhibits. Ask questions! You never know what you will learn or where the story will go. Give yourself at least an hour or two here. It's worth checking out.

What an experience! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. A very unique place to go in Toronto. I spent a couple hours there just browsing and learning. They have a museum part and a store as well with so many things! Check out their website for sure.

I've ordered multiple items off the online store at this point, and have nothing but good things to say about the quality of the pieces I've got. Exactly as advertised! Great place for oddity collectors!

This store is my favourite, I've been ordering from here for years! All the animal products are beautiful and clean, exactly as described, and are shipped quickly and in protective packaging. I have coyote, bat, frog, crow, and turtle skulls, a cow mandible and a megalodon tooth in my collection already, I just placed my most recent order and I can't wait for it to arrive!

This establishment in like a museum! Wow! Amazing works of taxidermy, bone art, old books, lab equipment...name it, they have it! We went around 3 times looking at the displays. The industrial skull art is amazing and not for sale! The gentleman at the front was a wealth of knowledge and super engaging. Highly recommend!

Learned about this place from a nice fella on our hotel elevator. We made the 30 minute drive to see it. Simply AWESOME. I never thought I'd see some of the stuff I saw here, and the gift shop should really be called a treasure shop with all the crazy stuff you can purchase that I never imagined I'd ever see. The main man (wish I took his name) could explain every piece we looked at in detail, down to where it came from and it's story. Honestly was our favorite stop in Toronto this trip. Recommend 100 percent. Forget Ripley's, go here! Left with tons of cool stuff including a necklace of Arctic Fox teeth. Just do it.

I have known the owner for over 10 years, he is an amazing human who would support mask wearing only to protect others and himself. He is so passionate about his work and will offer only humble interactions.

Very cool place! Looks inconspicuous from the outside but there's a ton of stuff going on inside! The museum itself is one big room really but its filled to the brim with every manner of oddly curious things! Also the gift shop has a huge selection of really unique gifts, definitely check it out!

really great museum and store! ive been in twice to buy a gift for my little cousin and both people working have been super helpful with helping me find something nice in my small budget. I went into the museum for the first time a few weeks ago and Jim(?) was super great to chat with about the items and any obscure questions I had. Will continue to come back for sure :)

Lovely oddities museum in downtown Toronto. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Very cool selection of interesting items, all with unique stories behind them. They also run a store where you're able to purchase various skulls/bones, museum quality artifacts, trinkets etc. I've purchased many items from them. I've had one issue while ordering in which both items I had purchased off the website were listed as in stock, but they were actually sold out. They were very quick to rectify and went above and beyond in offering store credit towards another purchase, and when the other item I had selected also ended up being sold out, they swapped it out for a much nicer specimen at no extra charge. My favourite museum in Toronto!

Loved the gentleman in the museum portion who told us a bunch of different stories and showed us magic. Having the additional background about the pieces was awesome and the trip wouldn’t have been nearly as interesting (to me) without him. I appreciated him spending the time with us. Have a bigger donation thanks to him.

It was a hoot. If you visit Toronto and like fossil and oddities this is a must. It is free (donations accepted), and get this, free parking. You just don't see that in Toronto. (Free and convenient parking is almost non existing). Go have fun, the people running it friendly and have great stories to tell. They have great suvineers.

This place is absolutely amazing and so is the staff. Highly recommended. So many interesting things to see and to purchase. So much to explore that you will need to make many return visits to be able to absorb it all. Can't wait for my next visit!

Fantastic collection of skulls, prehistoric bones, artifacts, taxidermy, and oddities that are all ethically sourced. It is a very cool place to visit. I could spend hours in the museum. I highly recommend you check it out if you enjoy these kind of collections. The shop has lots of previous stones and artifacts for sale.

Such a fun experience! The museum is full of strange and interesting items. The best part is every item has a story - from how the curators acquired it to what it even is. The guide was fantastic at telling us some great stories while also giving us space to explore on our own. Highly recommend.

Incredible museum with the best gift shop of all time. Ever visited a museum and wished you could take an exhibit home with you? Well, with Prehistoria Museum and SkullStore, you can! (Sure, you can find similar stuff at auction, but it's much more fun to take it home the same day). I also have to highlight the amazing staff and astonishing variety of objects from across space and time crammed into a relatively small area. Highly, highly recommended.

I’ve been following Ben & the skullstore since I was a kid! Ordered things here & there since I’m about 1.5 hours away but went for my first visit today. Jim was an absolute gem and thoroughly showed us through the museum with tons of facts, stories & great jokes! Everyone was so kind & I can’t wait to regularly come pickup more skulls!

First time at an oddity museum, the exhibits were quite interesting. There were taxidermies, bone arrangements, fossils, and other many samples. These seemed to be maintained and done very well, fine work! Downstairs exhibits went for something like around 5$ entry, but featured many collectibles, apparel, and other oddities for sale. Along with a bar (which made everything lots better) apparently there was a burlesque show going on too, which did make things quite more interesting. Definitely recommend anyone to come by this place if you're interested in all of the above, or you're looking to change your mind about oddities as such..
